Not been on for a few days! Had a mad week at work! Last day in the office is 16 March! I'm taking 2 weeks leave and then maternity leave starts on 4 April 😁

Dreams are going mental at the moment. I had one last night that I grew a 3rd nipple and couldn't breastfeed because baby got confused....

Movements are still all over the shop, I'm starting to see some form of pattern develop, but baby still has quiet days especially if I'm busy, but I still worry about it. Movements have changed and are more rolling/swishing with the odd kick (kicks are usually to my bladder at 3am!)

Fieau · 13/01/2018 16:42

Noticed some yellow marks in my bra yesterday and then when put on my pyjama top OH pointed out that I was leaking Blush

Feels really early as only 26 weeks. Went and bought some breast pads today as would be mortified if it happened at work.

pinkflamingo121318 · 13/01/2018 17:43

28 weeks today!
I have a scan on Wednesday - then another at 32 weeks and 36 weeks.

I'm due in the middle of Easter Holidays so really hoping baby is a week early so I have 2 weeks recovery or at least on time!

DH isn't entitled to paternity at his new job so will only be taking 2 days max off as it'll be his holiday and he only gets 20 days.

Already have 2 children, will be just 6 and nearly 5 when baby arrives. So they'll be able to help me if needed. I'm actually not worried about that. More worried about the school runs because I don't drive!

A couple of days ago baby was awake ALL day.. he was hurting me with each kick. He finally settled when I went to bed.. DH poked me, jokingly trying to wake the baby. And he bloody woke up and wouldn't stop for over an hour!! He was rolling around and pushing body parts out, refusing to move them when I tried to push them back!
DH sheepishly apologised when I made him put his hand on my belly!

I can't believe just how strong he is at this stage! I don't remember my other 2 being like this!

Fieau · 13/01/2018 21:20

@pinkflamingo121318 I'm having growth scans on those weeks too. They have said if baby measures small I will have to be induced before 37 weeks.

Did you have extra scans with your other children?

Pumpkinma · 14/01/2018 02:14

@pinkflamingo121318 I'm 28 weeks today! Third trimester already feels so crazy! Going so fast!

I've got 6 weeks left at work then taking the reminder of my annual leave then my maternity starts on the 19th baby due on the 8th I'm so excited to finish work, just completed a 10 shift and my back is in bits! So much admiration for all of you working right up to 37 weeks I don't think I'll be able to walk by then 😂

emvy · 14/01/2018 09:26

Pinkflamingo and Fieau, I also have growth scans on those weeks too. My 28 week one is Friday when I turn 28 weeks. It’s the first scan i’m actually looking forward to although the usual niggles have started to creep in as it approaches. My bump is huge and he’s wriggling around so I’m sure he’s fine but hopefully he’s within normal growth range. They’ve given me no other information though. Have you guys had an appointment with a consultant? I was told I’d get an appointment through to meet after my scan but I’ve not heard anything and no one has ever actually talked to me properly about these growth scans.

amysaurus87 · 14/01/2018 09:54

@emvy, @publishing and @Fieau I've also got scans on those weeks as well! I'm seeing a Neuro consultant 2 days before my 28 week scan (all linked to genetic disorder!) I guess I'll only see someone after the scan if there is an issue with growth.

Midwife has said she won't measure bump at my appointments because I have the growth scans booked in, which makes sense!

amysaurus87 · 14/01/2018 10:00

Not sure how @pinkflamingo became publishing! ...stupid phone and autocorrect!

Rae2017 · 14/01/2018 10:40

Pardon my ignorance but what determines the growth scans being booked in? My midwife hasn't mentioned these to me although have my 28 week appointment next week l.

Loosemoose28 · 14/01/2018 11:15

Rae2017- if for any reason doctor or mideife feels you need one. So if you have a medical problem that may influence babies growth Ie Diabtetes/ BMI 35+

If your baby measures small at any point

If you are deemed high risk, like my bleeding Sad, pre eclampsia, gestational diabetes

Previous 4.5kg baby or under 2.5kg baby

History of stillbirth in immediate family or yourself.

If your midwife is not discussing extra scans then she/ he sees you as low risk for problems with babies growth. As nice as it is to see babies on our scans the issue with scans is in the third trimester they can be quite in accurate and could mean not needed medical interventions are suggested ie Induction.

Hope that helps

Fieau · 14/01/2018 11:57

@rae2017 I am having extra growth scans due to a low BMI before pregnancy and heavy bleeding at the beginning. They are almost certain that the bleeding was actually me losing a twin early on, but the doctor said not to turn down the extra scans as they will help reassure me (I've been quite anxious).

I have an appointment straight after each of the growth scans with the consultant, presumably to let me know what the current situation is and how the baby is growing (as the actual ultrasound technician won't go into any of that).

amysaurus87 · 14/01/2018 13:05

@rae2017 my extra scans are due to a genetic disorder that can cause growth issues and scoliosis (curvature of the spine) along with a whole heap of other things.

As @Loose mentioned there's usually a pre existing reason for extra scans. Your midwife should start measuring the size of your bump from 28weeks, if it's measuring small then they may refer you for a growth scan. Generally these are not booked unless there is a reason too.

Rae2017 · 14/01/2018 15:50

Ah right. Thanks for the replies. I was wondering whether I was missing something. Hope all goes well with each scan.

I've been off work last week with chest cough and stuffy head. If I wasnt pregnant think I would have gone in and battled through but with teaching little kids I didn't want to pick up anything else. Still don't feel 100% but heading back in tomorrow

AnnaMadden · 14/01/2018 16:32

The midwife here measure bumps from 24 weeks and everyone gets a 35 week scan as standard.

emvy · 14/01/2018 17:45

It’s funny how things can vary so much based on location Anna!

My extra scans are also down to low BMI. However, I’ve put on over a stone in weight throughout the pregnancy so far and no one has once asked me about weight gain etc. Did you have an appointment letter for your consultant appointments that follow the scan Fieau? I’m worried that I’ve not received anything and the scan is on Friday! My midwife did say at my 24 week appointment that I should have one after but still waiting on any form of communication about it. I have my 28 week midwife appointment Thursday, should I wait and ask then or try and contact my midwife before then? I wouldn’t hold out much hope getting hold of her as she’s off with a broken arm and even when she wasn’t off, the last time I left her a voicemail she never got back to me. I really feel I’ve had to chase everything!

Rae, I certainly don’t blame you for taking some days rest. Take tomorrow off too if you need to - no one would expect you to make extra effort to go in!

lisara79 · 14/01/2018 23:01

Hey... I have growth scans in also... Mine are for high BMI and high BP... I get my first one of the 24th.

HarryHarry · 15/01/2018 01:21

I'm having a growth scan at 33 weeks. They're not done routinely here but my doctor offered so I said yes.

Bez9087 · 15/01/2018 09:45

Ours don’t routinly do them unless cause for concern. We usually get them at 12 and 20 weeks that’s it on scans at my hospital.
I get them at 24, 28, 32, 34, 36 weeks but only because of it being twins and they need to monitor the girls growth.
Got the hospital today funnily enough for the strong Braxton Hicks had over weekend and my bump has dropped loads. Hoping the girls have just changed position.

Fieau · 15/01/2018 20:18

@emvy I only got a letter with my scan details on, but it's in the same clinic at the hospital and the midwife said after my scan I will then have to wait in the waiting room for the consultant to see me as I will just get added to her pile of patients to see that morning. Hoping its not too much waiting around!

emvy · 16/01/2018 06:20

Ah, thanks Fieau! Hopefully that’ll happen for me too then Smile

Yes, hopefully not too long a wait! Best of luck x

ClaireBear1986 · 16/01/2018 14:16

I have so much respect for all you ladies working so close to your due dates. I am due 19th April, and my last day will be 2nd March. I would have worked a little later but my commute is horrendous and my Manager has been a nightmare since finding out about my pregnancies, and caused me a lot of unnecessary stress. So I will be so pleased to leave :)
Thinking about putting an official complaint through about my Manager's behaviour, as I would hate for anyone else to be treated the way I have.

Had a mini break last week, which was amazing and I have so much more energy at the moment. Not sure how long that will last though.

I had a growth scan yesterday as Midwife told me I was measuring small. They were shocked at the hosp that I had been sent, as they said the chart showed I was measuring fine. Luckily baby is growing exactly as he should be, and at least it means I got an extra scan to see how he was doing :)

Exciting to think that we will all be entering (or have already entered) the third trimester soon!!

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 16/01/2018 14:21

Is anyone planning on using a TENS machine or has anyone used one in previous labours? Would you recommend it or not?

AnnaMadden · 16/01/2018 17:04

I've officially entered the third trimester...exciting but also nerve wracking as it's coming round so fast! The third trimester has brought me SPD so in a lot of pain at the moment. I had physio today and they've ordered me a pelvic band so I'm hoping that will provide some relief when that arrives next week!

We've bought pretty much everything now so feel a bit more prepared. Just the nursery to sort and it'll be a case of just waiting for our squishy bum to arrive!

We have our 4D scan on Saturday...excited and nervous as I'm not sure how I feel about seeing our baby in so much detail lol.

Time to get personal ladies...lady garden maintenance! After my shower yesterday I decided I had to tackle this challenge before I tripped over the growth! We'll...easier said than done. I ended up sitting in front of the mirror in the most un-lady like position hacking away at what I could see with a pair of scissors...praying that I didn't slice myself in half! Let's just say it was an interesting experience! 🙈

Loosemoose28 · 16/01/2018 17:43

AnnaMadden- I shamefully used my OH beard trimmer in the shower this morning to shorten everything.
Need to book a wax TBH just have felt so rubbish on my days off its the last thing I could handle. Will just a trim the edges type job though.

Loosemoose28 · 16/01/2018 17:46

I would have a TENs machine ICantThinkOfAGoodOne.

I use one for periods anyway but they are brilliant for early labour or if you need to be induced x
