@teaandtoast85... lol... We are from Newport, like GLC. Dreams are taking overly life I feel at moment... last night o dreamt i gave birth to triplets and the first one wasn't well. Night before I dreamt about expressing milk... very pregnancy related.... I think I'm worrying in my sleep.... I was concerned about his m0vement yesterday as he hasn't been as active as the few days before, but not really quiet and I've only been feeling him so much for a week or so so I can't be sure what is normal yet... urgh...

emchapman · 10/01/2018 13:14

Hi Ladies,

I have not been on the thread before. I am due 4/4/18 and trying to work in a (very difficult school!) until 39 weeks. How is everyone else's third trimester?
I have only just hit it but feel exhausted and emotional ALL the time! I also cant get the worry of stillbirth of my mind (yes, this is my first!)
I am very excited but also dont want to allow myself to be just in case something goes wrong. Is this normal? Feel like a nutter!

MissYeti · 10/01/2018 13:42

Hey em, welcome and congratulations!! I'm still in the 2nd trimester so cant comment on that part. You're in good company though, quite a few of the ladies here work in schools (I'm training to myself)!
In terms of worrying about stillbirth, it's good that you're aware of the risk but the risk is so small that you definitely shouldn't worry about it to the point where you're not enjoying your pregnancy! Chances are your LO will be absolutely fine so relax and enjoy!!

emchapman · 10/01/2018 13:59

Thank you MissYeti, It's nice to know lots of people are in the same boat as i havent encountered many other pregnant women to talk to yet!
Are you currently doing a PGCE? how are you finding it whilst pregnant?

MissYeti · 10/01/2018 14:17

I was doing a primary teaching degree but I dropped the qts last year. Looking to do more support stuff (like careers advising or something along those lines) rather than actual teaching now. I finish uni in May which is pretty good timing I think Grin
Because I dropped qts I have a relatively easy semester now, I have two weeks at the start Of Feb where I actually have to be in uni but the rest Of my assignments are done at home. I dont think I'd manage school placement from now up til 36 weeks!

Rae2017 · 10/01/2018 14:37

Welcome @em. Yeah I'm 26 wks +2 today so yet to hit the 3rd trimester. I'm a teacher in a primary school and find it exhausting. I too am trying to work up to 39 weeks because it's the easter hols then. But just going to see how it goes. Off work this week with chest issues and my gp says it's my body's way of telling me to slow down.

I understand the anxieties you have. Think that is natural but like pp says, the risk is very small and you need to make sure you enjoy the pregnancy too. Pot kettle black from me though as I worry about every little thing and overthink things to the max!

TeaAndToast85 · 10/01/2018 16:44

So many teachers! I am secondary, on a reduced timetable because I really struggled with morning sickness, so they gave all my exam classes to other teachers. That has made things a lot easier. Hoping to get to 35 weeks before I go, but can't see myself staying a moment longer. I'm already pretty big (I wasn't small before Blush) and have been struggling with breathlessness. Xx

HarryHarry · 10/01/2018 19:27

It's so weird how many of us are teachers. I was a teacher in the UK too Smile

emchapman · 10/01/2018 21:36

I'm secondary and work with very challenging students. Normally I can handle being called every name under the sun but recently I just want to cry! So tired and stressed too :(
My planning has gone out the window!
Two other ladies have both been pregnant at my school this academic year, one lasted to 39 weeks (going off at the start of the Christmas holidays) and had her baby a day later! The other lady is 38 weeks and finishing at the end of this week.
I am also trying to last til 39 weeks when easter begins. How I feel right now though I don't know if I can make it!
Still got 11 weeks to go Hmm
I am also huge compared to how they both were at 28 weeks! Pretty much the same size as the lady who is nearly due

molifly · 11/01/2018 08:36

I second pregnancy dreams been super weird! I keep dreaming of premature birth and not being able to breastfeed which is odd as i don't even intend to breastfeed!

When does the third trimester start? is it 28 weeks? I;m 26+6 today so enjoying my last week of the 'nice' bit before the third part looms!

DaisyLand · 11/01/2018 09:59

@molifly believe it starts w28 as you say.. I'm 27+1 today so only a few days before you, in exactly 3 months it's my DD!! Xmas Shock

Blimey too many brave teachers in the thread! I admire you all! My sister is a secondary teacher and i admire her :) I'm a computer engineer so "easy" job as the only annoying thing is the pc and it doesnt reply me back like some teenagers do :)

I used to be a primary school teacher (work in an office now) no way I could cope with teaching and being pregnant - high fives to all the ladies managing it!

Rae2017 · 11/01/2018 22:22

What type of office work do you do? I often wonder what life could be like after teaching 😂but never know which route to go down

Fieau · 11/01/2018 22:37

I deal with administration for a property development company (so dealing with planning applications, finance from banks, payment of construction companies and then selling on property when developed). I'm an assistant manager so most of my work ends up being assigning work out to the team, checking emails and documents they've prepared and checking payments. Basically I left teaching and still spend all day doing bloody marking Grin

I did get a few eyebrow raises when I went for my interview with a CV full of teaching, but to be honest if you have some common sense most skills are transferable. I did already have office experience though as used to do it for summer work when at uni.

Fieau · 11/01/2018 22:38

Oh and life after teaching is brilliant haha.... It's been a few years and every day when I stroll out of the door at five o clock with no work to do at home I feel very lucky! Teaching was just not right for me.

Rae2017 · 11/01/2018 23:26

Yeah I have to say the 5 o'clock finishes are very appealing!

PinkRose24 · 12/01/2018 12:31

Hi everyone im new to this thread. My due date is 28th April :) 25 weeks pregnant tomorrow. So excited and cant believe how fast my pregnancy has gone considering how early i found out! I have a daughter who is 3..4 in February and we will be welcoming a baby boy in april according to our scans weve had. We feel totally blessed and his big sister is beyond excited to meet him. 15 weeks to go..

honeybunbun · 12/01/2018 12:33

I'm due 12th April!
Feeling completely exhausted and having the worst heartburn in the world 😫

MissYeti · 12/01/2018 12:49

Welcome pinkrose and honeybunbun! Congratulations on your babies ❤

Loosemoose28 · 12/01/2018 12:52

Having small meltdown.
Had another bleed, don't know why. Work are being fab but 48hrs of bed rest has ruined my hips, can barely move. Have a week off work and then just need to see how I go.
Just feel defeated. Bought a how to crochet book to try to pass the time, especially if I end up off work much earlier than planned. Meant to be going off at 34 weeks. But can see it happening sooner. Sad

Bez9087 · 12/01/2018 14:28

@loosemoose make sure you rest then. I took up crochet when expecting my little boy it did pass the time. I was off from 27 weeks with him till I had him at 40 weeks. It does get boring resting but you need to keep cooking your little bubba xx
Just got in from a lovely afternoon tea out with my best friend who’s due in two and a half weeks so our last one child free. She’s just started maternity so was nice to be able to catch up without one of us having to deal with our kids Grin

MissYeti · 12/01/2018 14:45

loosemoose crocheting is a great pastime! I learned how to do it 2 years ago and it's been my go to hobby since then (other than scrapbooking).
Hope the bleedings calmed down and you feel better soon! Yours and your baby's safety is the priority at the end of the day. If work are being good to you now then hopefully they'll understand if you do need to take more time off before you start maternity leave xx

lisara79 · 12/01/2018 17:36

I hope all is calming down @loosemoose and you're looking after yourself xx

How worried should I be about fetal movement changes at 27 weeks. Today, he's moving at regular intervals but the movements are more gentle than before, more swishes than kicks... I'm getting far more than 10 a day (and more than 10 in 2 hours) but it still worries me...

HarryHarry · 12/01/2018 19:33

Sorry to hear that @loosemoose, have you been to the doctor? Hope everything's OK. I had a bit of bleeding yesterday too but the baby has been kicking hard all day for few days now so I think he's probably fine.

Welcome @PinkRose24 and @honeybunbun

emvy · 13/01/2018 10:01

Welcome newbies! Lovely to see some new names.

I’m also a teacher! Primary school - Year 4. Hoping to keep going until Easter holidays as well when I’ll be 37 weeks. Then as my due date isn’t until the 12th April, as long as baby stays put, maternity pay will begin on the 9th when the new term starts. We’ll see! He’ll come when he comes I suppose!

Moose, hope you’re feeling a little better and are resting up lots.

Lisara, I actually ended up at my local maternity unit after contacting the helpline last week. I was 27+3 and had been worrying about a change in movements for about 4 days. His movements got less strong and I just felt so uneasy. They got me in and although said they don’t do heart traces until 28 weeks, listened in for the heartbeat and reassured me. They were so lovely and said never to feel like I can’t pop back in whenever I’m worried - they’d rather reassure me than have me worrying at home. So basically, if you’re worried, they don’t mind, go. It’s not worth the anxiety. On the other hand, it has made me realise that his movements do feel different depending on how he’s positioned and i’m trying to stress less. Swishes instead of kicks are also normal as baby takes up more room and can’t get much force behind those little legs that are now all squished up!
