Went into Mothercare sale.... Confused take my card off me someone!!! But have a car seat now.

Also bought pram today second hand iCandy but has a new carry cot - can't justify spending £900 and then probably scratching it. I would just cry.

Bez9087 · 30/12/2017 08:25

Loosemoose that was me the other day. Went in to look at maternity clothes and came out with a lot of sale items 🙈
We are picking car seats up today then all I need now is another isofix base (we already have one from my ds pregnancy) and mattresses for the Moses basket, swinging crib and Cot. But only gonna get the Moses basket and swinging crib one for now as that’s what they will be in.
We got our pram second hand off Facebook and then hubby took it to work and got it all re sprayed so looks brand new but for £80 price tag instead of the £600 price tag it would have cost new. Bought the two carrycots seperate for it too so all in all it cost us about £200/£220 where as brand new the amount of stuff we got with it would have cost us closer to a grand and like you loosemoose couldn’t justify spending that much if I scratched it etc would have been mortified.
Got my changing bag yesterday too another bargain for £15 it’s a yummy mummy one but the twin version. I can’t believe now writing it down how organised we are. Just bottles and steriliser to sort and little bits now.

Rae2017 · 30/12/2017 13:18

We're picking up a car today. Finally getting a 4 door one as mine is unsuitable for when baby comes along. Exciting!
Are the isofix systems easy to install and use?

Bez9087 · 30/12/2017 13:25

Yes once the isofix base is in the car seat clips in and out. Like the guy in mothercare told us when we got it with dd “you could log roll the car and the seat wouldn’t move” Hmm I was like okkkkay! Haha
We have our seven seater ready on the drive just need to get a new engine for it as dh can never just buy a car that’s ready to go Confused

MissYeti · 30/12/2017 21:09

Our nursery will be ready tomorrow 😁 we're getting our cot and making it up so everything's prepared. Prep machine is in its box on the chest of drawers, all of baby's clothes up to size 0-3 are being stored in our room (other sizes are in the loft ready to go), pram and car seat are safely stored in the loft. Getting everything prepared now cuz I go back to uni in a few days and I need to have my head well and truly focussed on my dissertation and other assignments if I'm going to stand a chance of finishing with a decent degree!!

DaisyLand · 30/12/2017 21:23

Blimey you all are too organised ! We are redoing our room and to be honest I’m not sure it’ll be ready by baby’s due date. I can see us sleeping on an inflatable bed in the lojnge when baby is born as where we are sleeping at the moment there is no space for a cot.

I got the car seat for my car (an Ibiza ) we got a cibex atom m which follows I size. However dh has got an sports car and despite it having isofix and being newer than mine we are struggling to find a seat that would work. We are arguing about who should change cars haha

Which changing bag are you going for ? I barely like any ! Saw pacapod st the shop but not sure I like them 100%. Can’t make up my mind about them :(

Hope you all have a lovely nye and beginning of 2018

I got the yummy mummy bag but the twice as nice one made for twins. Have always wanted a yummy mummy bag since my eldest but never got one so treated us this time round as the twins will be our last babies.
I’m panicking trying to get everything organised seen as the consultant likes to keep reminding me that 60% of twins are born before 36 weeks 😳 so all I keep thinking is in new year that’s like 11 weeks away which isnt too long 🙈 hoping to keep them cooking as long as I can but my ribs are so sore. I am constantly aching and struggling to find this glow 😂

Loosemoose28 · 30/12/2017 22:57

I am not doing a nursery, we may move after baby is born so spare room is staying as it is with an extra chest of drawers (yet to be bought) with a changing mat on top and clothes storage.

I need to look for a changing bag, I know I need a back pack one.

Pumpkinma · 30/12/2017 23:33

Wow! You all sound so organised! First baby and I have no idea where to start, they are so small but need so much stuff 😂

We got our pram the other day as the one we wanted I found for half price, we got the Uber child 3 n 1 took us about two hours to figure out how to put it all together and collapse it again 🙈 but it's very nice and very simple now that I understand it. Other than that and a changing bag, I bought one of those back pack bags with all the compartments and I love it. Seems very practical

Rae2017 · 31/12/2017 09:06

Thanks @Bez. And is it easy to first install it. Me and partner are not the best at technical things haha 🙈

Yes i need to get changing bag. I can't see any that appeal to me at moment.

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 31/12/2017 15:05

Has anyone been getting upper back pain? I thought I had just slept awkwardly the past few nights, but I'm starting to think it's pregnancy related now.

Anyon found a good way of getting relief from it if you have? I'm thinking of splashing on a prenatal massage, but it's £70 and I'm trying to save for the latter part of maternity leave!

Bez9087 · 31/12/2017 17:49

@Rae it’s literally a button. There’s two yellow clasps and you pull them out and they literally push against the isofix points in your car and once it clicks on both it’s in.
You push the button to move the isofix base closer or further away from the chair depending how your car seat sits on it and to uninstall it it’s another button and pull.
It takes a few goes to get used to it but once it’s in and fitted we hardly moved ours. It’s so easy once it’s in the maxi cosi one we have the seat just literally clicks onto the base. Then to release it you pull a handle and lift car seat up much easier than faffing with the seatbelt.

Rae2017 · 01/01/2018 06:45

Thanks @Bez. Sounds as even if I could manage that!! Can't wait to test it out.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope everyone had a good one. I was taxi driver for our group. Got in at 2am and just can't sleep whereas everyone else is snoring their heads off from copious amounts of alcohol 😳

Bez9087 · 01/01/2018 09:28

Happy new year Star

amysaurus87 · 01/01/2018 15:10

Happy 2018 everyone! Hope you all had a lovely night!

Clearly been spurred on by the new year as we brought our pram this morning as well as a few more baby bits! All getting real now!

emvy · 01/01/2018 18:28

Wow everyone is super organised! Our buggy and car seat never turned up and we had a text at the end of the day to say they’d be with us on the 2nd 🙄 I’m assuming the first text was a mistake! Never mind. Also ordered some wallpaper and the nursery furniture today so beginning to feel a bit more organised.

Happy New Year everyone! What an exciting year we have ahead of us Grin

TeaAndToast85 · 02/01/2018 00:14

@ICantThinkOfAGoodOne Back pain is horrible. I've been having problems with my shoulder. Pregnancy massage could be amazing...you should treat yourself, the baby will benefit too because you will feel more relaxed and happy Smile

TeaAndToast85 · 02/01/2018 00:17

@DaisyLand have you felt any more kicks, anterior placenta buddy? I did a long drive the other day, and DD spent about 15 minutes booting me in the cervix Shock quite an alarming feeling. DH thought it was hilarious

ClaireBear1986 · 02/01/2018 08:26

Happy New Year All.

We went to Mothercare yesterday and did a big shop. The Personal Shopper was so helpful.
We now have our pram, car seat, changing bag, crib, bed sheets and blankets, baby monitor and lots of other little bits and pieces.
The sale was really good, and it all came to a lot less than I expected.

Think little man enjoyed New Year too as he was having a full on party in my belly that night. Ha ha. Hope you all had a good night too. I was in bed by 8pm. Ha.

DaisyLand · 02/01/2018 10:33

Blimey you got loads!
What pram did you go for> and changin bag? and blankets?

@TeaAndToast85 , not so good here, pa is doing my heading which is not good for someone that suffers anxiety, ended up having a private scan on saturday (i was flying on sunday and i was a mess so wanted to see him soon) they said he seem ok but seem asleep as kept refusing to move, the image wasnt as clear as before so you could barely see movements but DH promised me he saw him moving. Apparently ive got what they call a quiet baby, people i guess would love to have one but Im not enjoying it really, everyone told me my anxiety would reduce when i'd feel him kicking and i feel that's never happening for me, I keep having a few days movements and a few days of quiet...

We got the Silvercross Chelsea Wayfarer, I just think it's the nicest one of them all and seems so easy to use. We got the car seat for free with it as well, so just had to buy the changing bag to match.
Got the Tutti Bambini Crib, as after looking at them all it seemed far better for us than any of the other options. Think that was the only thing not in the sale.
Baby monitor has £80 off it, so that was a really good deal.
All the other small items we got were reduced loads too. Can't remember what make the blankets were, but all the bedding and that we bought was reduced by about 75%.
I was so impressed and would deffo recommend the personal shopper service.

I can imagine that must be hard with him being so quiet @DaisyLand. I have a really active little man, so when he goes quiet for a bit it really does freak me out.
I thought the movements would help me feel calmer, but I am still a complete wreck. Ha.
Are you on your holidays now, or were you flying back?

We will be going for a short break abroad in August when he is 4 months ish. Can anyone recommend a decent travel co please?
I had baby brain yest I think, and totally forgot to ask.
Thanks all :)

WonderfullySunny · 02/01/2018 17:15

@DaisyLand I can imagine that's disconcerting but good news they said all is OK. Perhaps it means LO will be quiet when they arrive as well?!

Weight wise all, I've put on 7kg and I'm 24 weeks tomorrow. Nothing has been said at weigh in but I know as I was overweight to begin with I'm not supposed to gain more than 9-12kg throughout and it's still only second trimester BlushShock just a bit worried but good motivation to get doing some more exercise I suppose.

Bez9087 · 02/01/2018 19:48

@daisy that’s rubbish bubs is so quiet I don’t blame you for feeling anxious. Hopefully in the next few weeks they may liven up?

TeaAndToast85 · 02/01/2018 21:33

@DaisyLand
I'm sorry to hear the anxiety has been flaring up. Whenever the baby has a quiet day (most days) I start worrying and thinking about scans, too. If anything was wrong, the sonographer would have spotted it. I bet you have a proper chilled out baby in April Thanks

TeaAndToast85 · 02/01/2018 21:35

@WonderfullySunny I haven't been able to stand on the scales, and have looked away at midwife appts...my mum said the other day that I should try to avoid putting any more on, which obv made me feel shit. Confused
