emvy I get weekly emails from the Bump app/website which says that at this point, the baby is sleeping in 12-14 hour cycles so there will be long periods of the day where you don't feel any movement. Also they are still small enough not to be felt at all if they are in certain positions. I felt the biggest proper kicks I've had so far yesterday but not much since then.

Teeeee · 06/12/2017 10:10

Hello all! Catching up on the threads.. lovely that so many are feeling the baby move now! I'm looking forward to knowing if its the baby or just wind I'm feeling Hmm
Have my 20 week scan tomorrow.. ahhhh. Just want it to be tomorrow already!
Hope you all are having a nice day of pregnancy xx

ClaireBear1986 · 06/12/2017 10:59

Thanks @DaisyLand, I was quite stressed over it all but tbh I am a mega worry wart.

Had a bit of a scare the day before my scan. As baby moves like crazy now, and then movement totally stopped for over 24 hours. I then had a very tiny amount of blood in the morning. Was really freaking out, so rang Midwife to put my mind at rest and they sent me straight to the hosp. Luckily all was fine but it was a horrible morning!!!
They did say it is quite early to monitor movement, but advised that at this stage if I have a lot of movement and then it does seem to stop or I feel like something isn't right to pop straight up to the hosp and get checked out.
They were lovely up there, and really put my mind at rest. Said I can always pop up and ask them to listen to his heartbeat if I ever feel concerned at all.

Since then he has been having a rave in my belly though!! Ha.

Good luck for tomorrow @Teeeee

WonderfullySunny · 06/12/2017 11:06

@amysaurus87 great you're starting to feel things! Mine started with pokes and I've now gone to a funny dodgy stomach kind of feeling!

@Teeeee good luck for tomorrow! Hope all goes well :)

@ClaireBear1986 so glad they were lovely and reassuring :) nice to know that you can pop in and double check.

I've got my 20 week scan on Sunday, for those that have already had it how long did it take? Did they give you much feedback during the scan?

ClaireBear1986 · 06/12/2017 11:09

Has definitely reassured me @WonderfullySunny Also reassures me to feel little man raving inside my belly :) Crazy how powerful his kicks are already.

It has also made me feel more confident about giving birth at the local hospital/birth centre as the staff were all so lovely and knowledgeable.
I was quite nervous previously as I've not had good experiences with the scans and the hospital does not have the best reputation.

Good luck for Sunday. Mine was about 20 minutes and she gave me a lot of feedback, and it was very reassuring.

HarryHarry · 06/12/2017 13:31

Good luck for tomorrow Teeeee

Claire Sounds like you're in safe hands! Though that must have been such a scare.

I had the flu shot last night and now feel awful. Has anyone else had it? Also, my arms and legs keep going numb when I sleep on my side, no matter how much I get up in the night or move about, and I can hear blood constantly throbbing in my ears. It's driving me mad. Is that normal?

amysaurus87 · 06/12/2017 17:10

I had my flu jab a while ago but it did make me feel a bit rough, not like unwell but generally tired and I had some numbness so I think it's normal @HarryHarry.

Had whooping cough vaccine as well and that made me feel super tired!

New symptom as of that week or so is a numb outer thigh?! I can still feel it if I poke it, it kinda feels like it's really really cold...so odd and it gets sore the more walking I do. Anyone else finding this?! Dr google says it's normal but I'm going to ask midwife tomorrow!

AnnaMadden · 06/12/2017 19:20

My little peanut seems to be awake more than asleep this past week...he or she is very active and consistent now so hang in there...you'll notice a pattern very soon. It's lovely to be able to see the movements from the outside too. My bumps seems to have risen up from my pelvis now and there's a head usually stuck in my rib lol...22+1 and feel like a whale already! Scan tomorrow morning so fingers crossed all is well 😊

Rae2017 · 06/12/2017 20:57

@wonderfullysunny my 20 week scan lasted about 20 mins. I made the mistake of eating before i went in so baby was really active and she found it hard taking leg measurements.

@HarryHarry i had flu jab couple of weeks ago and felt ok. Just my arm where i had it done...couldn't lie on it for a few days.

I used to get aching thighs at the side from trying to sleep on my side. Got a pregnancy pillow which reallly helped but now the aching has come back even worse on both sides. Have trouble keeping to one side for any length of time because it gets too uncomfortable. Any tips?

emvy · 06/12/2017 21:20

Wonderfully, my scan also lasted about 20 minutes and the sonographer talked us through absolutely everything she was looking at; pointing things out, explaining what she was looking for and that things were "as she'd expect". We had to pop back in after emptying my bladder though because he was moving so much she couldn't get a picture of the spine and thankfully with me lying on my side, she managed to photograph it. It's such a lovely experience, I particularly enjoyed seeing his little hands and feet - so cute! Enjoy it and best of luck! Teeee, good luck to you also!

I actually ended up calling the midwife today because bub still wasn't really moving this morning. I left a voicemail but she hasn't got back to me yet! There is an advice line I could've rung though if I was really worried but thankfully after I'd called, he of course started jiggling around! So all seems okay again now. He's moved really low again though whereas over the weekend he was around my belly button. I guess maybe he's flipped around!

Sorry to those suffering with numbness during sleep/lying - I've not got any advice I'm afraid! The only weird thing I experience is cramp in my legs when I stretch but thankfully it's fleeting!

ClaireBear1986 · 07/12/2017 10:39

So glad he has started wriggling around @emvy. Pregnancy is such a worrying time.

I was so nervous about having my flu jab, as had it twice before and felt really ill after on both times. Had mine in September this year and apart from having a sore arm, I had no problems at all luckily. Nurse did say it's not a live vaccine so it shouldn't make you ill, but if you are slightly under the weather when you have it then it does tend to make you feel even worse.
Hope you feel better soon@HarryHarry.

Totally agree with you as well about the aching sides. I wake up about 3/4am every morning and ache so much that I can't go back to sleep.
I tried using a pregnancy pillow, but this seemed to make it even worse. I have now stopped using it, and still wake up achey but nowhere near as bad.
I was advised to wait until my bump was bigger before I started using the pregnancy pillow.
If you find any tips for this, please let me know :)

Alnilham · 07/12/2017 11:15

Hi all, glad everyone is generally okay despite all the junior disorders...from about 20 weeks I could feel pumpkin kicking...I eel it but still not convinced. Today is my scan at 22 weeks and hopefully my sonographer will write down the sex for the gender reveal tomorrow evening.
My DH really wants to know but I want it to be a surprise so here goes.
What is the concoction for movement so pumpkin doesn't hide..coke and candy. Wish us favor guys..
Will let u know by Saturday what team I am on.

AnnaMadden · 07/12/2017 12:15

Had our scan this morning and all is well. Peanut wouldn't stay still long enough for a decent photo but have a couple. 1lb 1oz already and long legs lol. I had the extra internal scan that was offered due to previous treatment on my cervix and all is well there too! I really feel I can relax now...well as much as this one will let me!

It's hard sleeping on your side as I always get bad pains in my hips but I just have to keep swapping sides and having bent legs then straight legs...helps a little.

Is anyone else experiencing Braxton Hicks already?

Teeeee · 08/12/2017 08:43

Hi all!

Thank you for the well wishes for the scan.

AnnaMadden I‘m glad yours went very well!!

I had mine yesterday and it went well too! Baby wriggling around as it has done every scan!! ... and I am having a little boy!!!!! I am still a little shocked as I‘d totally convinced myself that is was a girl.. I know its an old wives tale, but all my nausea made me think it was a wee girl... also I don‘t know anything about boys!! Maybe that makes the uncertainty of being a new mum a little more scary in my head :/ Eeek!
Grateful that all was well though,

Xx

DaisyLand · 08/12/2017 08:57

@teeeee CONGrats! I was like you! convinced it was a girl and discovered i'm team blue! i'm loving the idea now but... have no clue about them! hahaha only need to make sure their bits are pointing down when putting the nappy if we dont want accidents haha

Scan! Feeling very relieved that everything looks ok. However it has made it all seem even more real to me, and last night I had an anxiety dream, where I left her in her car seat in the coldest room in the house and forgot to check on her for a whole day Sad I expect I have a lot more dreams like that to come...

Pregnancies due April 2018
TeaAndToast85 · 08/12/2017 10:08

By the way, I'm 20 weeks and 1 day today, and so far haven't felt any definite moment. The occasional fluttering feeling when I lie down, but sometimes I think I am imagining it. Was/is anyone in the same boat? X

HarryHarry · 08/12/2017 11:33

Congratulations on your scans everyone! TeaAndToast85 those flutters are the baby! I'm 22+4 now and they are getting stronger though still infrequent but that's definitely how they started Smile

ClaireBear1986 · 08/12/2017 14:12

Congrats again on all the scans, such an exciting time for everyone.

Welcome to team Blue @Teeeee, I was the opposite - convinced it was a boy and he was :)

I was so happy as have always wanted a little boy 1st. Can't wait for the little monkey to be here now.

@TeaAndToast85 We must be due date buddies as I am 21 weeks and 1 day today as well.
I was advised by my Midwife that I was unlikely to feel anything at all till closer to 25 weeks (mainly due to a tilted womb and it being my 1st), but he is kicking away like crazy in there every day now. And his kicks are powerful!!!
Everyone is so different though with when they feel movement and kicks, so don't worry about it at all. I would say that the fluttering feeling is most likely baby moving though. So I am sure you will soon get a big old kick to the ribs, ha ha.

Pumpkinma · 08/12/2017 15:11

Love reading about everyone's scans! I think I'm definitely going to have to go get a private scan done in January don't think I'll be able to go through the rest of the pregnancy with out seeing my little pumpkin again.

@TeaAndToast85 I'm 22+5 today and a couple of weeks ago I was getting myself all worried because I couldn't feel anything but about a week ago I started to feel little tiny kicks and they are getting stronger everyday so I'm sure it won't be long before you feel them too ☺️

ClaireBear1986 · 08/12/2017 15:23

I feel exactly the same @Pumpkinma. When she told me last week that I wouldn't get any more NHS scans I felt a bit sad.
A lot of my friends live in a different area, and are offered growth scans at about 30 weeks but sadly my NHS don't do this.

I have now booked a 4D scan for the end of Jan, and I am really excited about this :)

AnnaMadden · 08/12/2017 15:27

We have another scan booked at 35-36 weeks. My midwife said this was standard as they need to check if they should be intervening...so I'd double check that if I were you!

We have also booked a private 4d scan for Jan so we can have another sneaky peek with the added bonus of a 4d experience. Can't wait.

Pumpkinma · 08/12/2017 15:34

@AnnaMadden My NHS have said that because I'm low risk and both my scans have been fine I won't be having any more scans now unless my midwives are concerned about anything during my appointments. 16 more weeks seems a long way to go with out baby being checked on to me too.

@ClaireBear1986 yeah I'm definitely going to be booking one for end of January too

Misslemon01 · 08/12/2017 16:52

Hello everyone, I’ve just discovered this thread! I’m due end of April, so joining the April bus.

@Pumpkinma I was disappointed too to hear that the NHS won’t be doing any more scans after the 20-week one ☹️ let us know how your private one goes! I can’t even think what a 4d one involves?

@TeaAndToast85 I don’t reliably feel the baby either (currently 21+2)... most days a wriggle feeling but could easily be digestion Confused

Rae2017 · 08/12/2017 17:09

I'm booked in for 36 week scan as my placenta is blocking cervix. But sonographer said it generally moves, otherwise it will be c section.

Congrats on all the scans! Everyone I know who is pregnant seems to be having boys. I'm 21+4 and feel little popping sensations and gurgling when I'm lying down.

The achy legs at night are getting too much. Really struggled sleeping last night but so paranoid about sleeping on my back
