dancing we're at a similar point, I'm 19+4, and I've managed to convince myself things are going wrong... I've been feeling movements but some days I don't notice any at all and freak out. My bump isn't that big and I don't 'feel' that pregnant. So I convince myself something has gone wrong with baby... I try and stay busy and that usually helps.

My 20 week scan is next week so that's helping as well... after that I'm hoping the movements will pick up a bit so I've got more reassurance more often.
Glad you've got a good midwife who will get you in to listen to baby's heart beat Smile I'm sure you're the same in that I can't quite imagine actually having this baby in February!

mogulfield · 29/09/2017 20:47

brenna it's weird she's followed you, Italian isn't even that common a language to learn, and learning a language isn't that common a pursuit for adults (I don't know anyone learning a language at the mo!), so for her to be doing it at the same time as you is too much of a coincidence!
Don't let her stop you though! Just ignore her, and enjoy seeing your friends.

DancingUnicorn · 29/09/2017 21:20

Mogul I'm ok mostly. But yes, have had lots of realisations this week that I don't really believe I'll end up with a baby in March. I just don't trust my body to do the right thing. And I also don't trust my body to actually tell me something is wrong! For now, I just have to get through each day. I've been so incredibly busy recently that things seem so much worse, just because im shattered. Hopefully a quieter weekend will make next week better!

MsJuniper · 29/09/2017 21:22

Hi folks. Got seen in the end. They didn't have the blood test results but said I would hear directly. The consultant did scan me again briefly which was a nice surprise. Baby very wriggly. They are happy with the progress.

I feel a bit broken by the last couple of weeks. Hoping for a quiet weekend.

That woman sounds awful Ekphrasis. Worrying.

DancingUnicorn · 29/09/2017 21:32

So glad they saw you and you got to see baby again! Hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend. ❤️

INeedABiggerBoat · 29/09/2017 21:34

Evening all,
Good to hear all your updates. I've been watching Miami's thread in Bereavement but just don't have the words to write anything. It's so awful.
Brenna - like everyone else has said, I'd tell some of your friends and even your teacher if you can, about this woman. It's absolutely not fair that she pushes you out of your Italian lessons as well, on the spectrum or not. You might feel more able to stay if you know you've got solid friends protecting you.

I've had a bit of a meltdown today. Had a little lump of very thick, dark yellow discharge that I think might be part of (?) my mucus plug. We've got another private scan booked for Monday morning so I'm trying to hold out until then (some of you have Herculean amounts of self-restraint, waiting til 20 weeks etc) but now what I'd thought was round ligament pain over the last few days is taking on a more sinister hue.

whyhastherumgone · 29/09/2017 23:30

When did everyone start feeling movement? I've got an anterior placenta so not sure if mine won't be easy to feel at first? Typical!

I am trying to hold off but suspect i will crack and book another scan. Especially as my midwife is a bit crap - can't ever get hold of her so doubt she will be reassuring me and telling me to come in so i can listen to the baby. Yours sounds fab @dancingunicorn

whyhastherumgone · 29/09/2017 23:32

@ineedabiggerboat oh how worrying for you! hopefully it just a weird pregnancy quirk but i know what you mean i'm already convincing myself things have gone wrong without any signs. I'm pretty sure i've read about this happening before and it not meaning anything bad i will see if i can find the article.

itsgoingtoofast · 30/09/2017 06:24

@whyhastherumgone I had an anterior placenta with my first (and again this time). I didn't feel movement until 21 weeks if that helps. I could feel it much much earlier in my last pregnancy where the placenta was at the back. How many weeks are you again?

@INeedABiggerBoat Fingers crossed everything is ok and and that time speeds up for you this weekend to make it to that scan. I've had all sorts of weird and wonderful symptoms and discharges in my 2 previous successful pregnancies but I do know how disconcerting it can be.

Brenna24 · 30/09/2017 07:28

INeed a thick yellow discharge and pain may be an infection like Bacterial vaginosis. I would get that seen to before monday.

Glad you got to see the baby again MrsJ.

Whyhas I started feeling movelments at 15 weeks but they are really faint and I can only feel them if I am sitting or lying still. I was starting to freak out that they weren't getting stronger but it turns out that I have an anterior placenta. I am utterly amazed I felt anything that soon as with AP I would have expected to be >20 weeks before I felt anything. I think I may have a right wee bruiser in there.

OP posts:
DancingUnicorn · 30/09/2017 08:13

Yes, I definitely feel very lucky rum and I think hearing a couple more times might be the only thing that saves me the cash of a scan. I may still book one. I don't care about finding out the sex any sooner and I don't want them to do measurements etc, so I feel like people will judge me and think I'm just desperate to know if I can paint the nursery pink, which I don't care about at all. Though I should start learning to care less about what people think I suppose!!

Ineed if it is the mucus plug, my understanding is that it just grows back. Hopefully that's all it is, but I completely understand your worry! I hope everything is fine on Monday.

Brenna I started feeling 'things' around 14 weeks (lucky to have a posterior placenta) but it has actually made my anxiety worse I think because it's still not very frequent or stronger which then gets me panicking!

whyhastherumgone · 30/09/2017 08:40

Thank you! I am 15 weeks on Monday but haven't felt anything yet apart from the usual twinges etc. I know it sounds silly but what do movements actually feel like?! is it easy to tell what they are when you feel them?

mammabear4 · 30/09/2017 08:45

Ladies I need some advice I'm panicking! 26+1 today and my DH and I had sex last night, woke up this morning and went for a wee and when I wiped there was lots of light pinkish blood on the tissue?! Should I be worried??

rum I've got TWO anterior placentas so the babies movements are very cushioned, I feel them more strongly when they're kicking inside and I didn't really feel them move until after the 20 week scan, and only now just getting stronger. Typical when we're so desperate to feel anything!

brenna just reading back over your posts and this lady sounds absolutely mental!! I echo what others have said I'd tell as many people as possible - just fully expose her for the stalker she is!

Ineed really hope everything is ok for you on Monday! Xx

whyhastherumgone · 30/09/2017 09:01

@mammabear4 oh wow, two! Thank you this is reassuring. I really thought I'd be calmer after 12 weeks - apparently that's not so!
On the subject of bleeding after sex, I know a LOT of women this has happened to and all was fine it was just cervix irritation. I haven't DTD at all (!) - too sick and tired - but have feeling better recently, but have still avoided the actual deed because I have this in the back of my mind.
Some of them were told by midwives to avoid DTD at all, others said just keep an eye, but they all checked with their midwives or antenatal helpline/clinic if you have one...

itsgoingtoofast · 30/09/2017 09:16

@whyhastherumgone it kids of feels like wind to me, like little flutters so I'm not sure early on. But then from about 20 weeks I started feeling proper thumps if you know what I mean. Like big pops if I remember rightly. I can't see them or feel them from the outside for a long time though. I think they are easily mistakable at the beginning from my experience anyway. I'm not expecting to feel anything for a good few weeks yet.

@mammabear4 try not to worry. I've had hat in the past too. Everything is so engorged down there it can just be little blood vessels. I was always led to believe it's common. Obviously if you were to start properly bleeding I would get checked but a little bit of pinkish discharge on wiping will be ok I'm sure

peachgreen · 30/09/2017 10:17

@INeedABiggerBoat How far along are you? I had mucus loss too and it turned out to be completely normal for that stage. So worrying though!

@whyhastherumgone I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movements around 20
weeks? But VERY faint and only when I concentrated (apart from the first ones, weirdly, which were so strong DH felt them!). Now I’m 23 weeks and feel them in a pretty regular pattern (when I first get to work, after lunch, in the bath and when I go to bed!), sometimes stronger than others. I’ve just started being able to see some of them which is amazing.

@mammabear4 I’m sure it’s just cervical erosion but I would get it checked out by your midwife, just for reassurance.

DancingUnicorn · 30/09/2017 10:37

Mamma as the others have said, I'm sure it's nothing sinister. But I would probably phone your midwife anyway. Our guidance says to call at any time if there's any fresh blood, no matter how little. Plus, that is likely to be more reassuring than us saying it's almost certainly fine!

Rum it's felt like being tickled on the inside to me. Very subtle, and not at all easy to tell it's that! It still might not be!! My 12 week scan notes say my placenta was posterior then, so I'm hoping to feel it more consistently soon. I actually think I've been more anxious since 12 weeks, just in a different way. I had maybe 3 weeks of feeling pure excitement, but that reassurance has worn off now and I'm back to being terrified!

Brenna24 · 30/09/2017 12:54

I know what you mean about worrying that they aren't getting stronger Dancing. It is fine though. They shouldn't be frequent of strong and until much later on. I could see the little one stretch/move/turn etc. at my 20 week scan and I couldn't feel a thing on the outside.

whyhas the movements feel different for different people. For me they feel a bit like a muscle twitch only a bit fainter, or sometimes a bubble bursting. Once it felt like the baby was stroking me on the inside. That felt weird. It is quite hard to tell them from gas/twitches/rumbly tummy at first. For my friend she said it felt like going over a hump in the car and she got a lurch in her tummy. For another friend she only really felt like bubbles on the inside.

mama it is mostly likely cervix/small blood vessel etc. It is common but speak to your midwife if you are worrying. They would rather see you too many times than not enough.

Ekphrasis · 30/09/2017 13:04

Brenna I hope you can talk to some of your Italian class friends to help buffer her a bit - please keep going with them.

All the best for next week mogulfield and emvy, a good attitude to have though not easy.

Dancing I'm sorry it's all getting the better of you - take the Mws up ok that offer, I know they mean it. They'd rather see you than not.

Rum, I hadn't realised that, thanks - I'll perhaps find out what does happen. There's a scan place 5 mins walk from here with scans from 8 weeks for £50 though. I'm starting to feel I could handle it if I get to 8 weeks.

Ineed, it could just be a load of mucus, or a mild infection. I hope you're ok. Some great mn women told me about a very basic gel you can use to keep things balanced 'down there'. I had a load of yellowy mucus last night funnily enough. Can you see someone on Monday to check?

mama I would probably check too but it does sound like others have described.

Glad you got see mrsj. I'm not surprised you're feeling drained. Hope you get some rest at the weekend.

I'm wondering if I'm feeling the effects of the flu jab I had a week ago? Feel like I've been hit by a bus, sore neck and throat, aching all over. Zero energy. Pah.

Ekphrasis · 30/09/2017 13:05

Hope all swell with you amy too!

Hi all hope you’re all ok...

@mammabear4 I had pink bleeding with one of my daughters, it was cervical erosion and happened after sex. I would go and get it checked to make sure it is that.

@INeedABiggerBoat in this pregnancy I’ve had a load of jelly like, yellow cm. after having it checked and researching a bit, I discovered the higher amounts of progesterone in your system can make tour discharge yellow tinged. Told my Midwife who swabbed to be on the safe side. All came back normal and she agreed it is normal and due to hormone changes.

@whyhastherumgone The first movements for me felt like wind and gradually got more intense and there was no denying it was the baby moving. Took a while to feel anything this time with my placenta being anterior, I think it was around 18 weeks I could definitively say it was Baby moving and not wind.

@Brenna24 I really hope you manage to sort out the stalker problem. Woman sounds obsessed.
We had a slight problem with a woman on our village who would follow myself and DH. I was polite at first but it got to the point where I had no choice but to tell her to fuck off. Surprisingly she still talks to us but doesn’t follow us anymore.

Yesterday I ended up back at the hospital because little miss decided she was going to go to sleep for 6 hours! We poked, made loud noises, blew raspberries, I had a shower, put ice on my tummy, you name it we did it and she still didn’t move. Got in the ctg and guess what, wide awake kicking the monitor off, 48 movements in 18 minutes and so active the ctg lost her heartbeat 4 times. As it’s the second case of reduced movements they’re arranging a scan. Waiting for a call from the hospital with the details. Other than that everything else has settled. Had a few mild contractions while on the monitor but nothing to rave about.
Had a bit more discharge this morning as well, sorry tmi it was white and runny this time.
Baby is still quiet but I can feel her feet moving around on my csection scar and can see her limbs poking out near my belly button. All ok 😊

Brenna24 · 30/09/2017 13:33

Glad all is well amy. That must have been scary though. Tell her to behave at least for the next 2 weeks.

Thanks everyone for the reassuring messages! Will ring my midwife and see if she thinks it's worth getting checked out. Absolutely nothing all day I've kept checking so might have just rattled the cervix a bit ha. Maybe will have to have a sex ban from now on!

Amy that must have worried you but really glad all is fine! Not long at all now, you must be getting so excited! Xx

INeedABiggerBoat · 30/09/2017 14:34

Thanks for the reassurance all. Just back from Doctor - they think it's nothing to worry about but are sending urine sample off for testing and have arranged a scan for Monday (so I've rearranged my private scan for what should, hopefully, be 17 weeks - if all goes well this will be the most scanned baby in history!).

Feel like I'm just repeating what everyone else has said but Mamma I did read that sex during pregnancy can irritate the cervix (one of the reasons DH and I haven't DTD since conception - think I'm going to have to woman up and let myself enjoy things again soon!). But hopefully your MW can reassure you properly.

Amy really glad everything is okay. That sounds nightmarish, but sort of adorable that little one waited until everyone was looking to put on a show!

Right, going to try to distract myself from prickly groin sensations by taking doggo for a walk.
