Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

@RhiKHo I'm also unsure on when to tell people, at the moment we are planning on keeping to ourselves until the 12 week scan but just so excited it's really hard not to :( I know how excited our parents will be which is why we're putting off until we know things are ok.

RhiKHo · 10/09/2017 15:15

@raspberryandlime it does sound like waiting is the most sensible advice, though our parents would also be over the moon and tbh I'd talk to my mum about it even if it wasn't so I'm in a pickle! I have quite a stressful job too so I might tell them earlier than 12 weeks, don't want any unnecessary stress affecting things! I also know my friends will clock it as soon as I see them and don't drink... feels like I should tell them rather than have them guess?!

Wineandpyjamas · 10/09/2017 15:28

Mocktails are a good idea @janiesum. Don't miss the booze at all but I'm finding going without my vape really hard. Quit cold turkey the moment I found out but it's not easy! 5 weeks today ;) Welcome @rasberryandlime - it is good to have a place to chat about the same things isn't it?

Wineandpyjamas · 10/09/2017 15:40

@RhiKHo yeah it is tough deciding when to tell! With my dd my mum guessed when I was 8 weeks so had to then tell all the family even though it was earlier than I'd planned! But then for friends I waited until 12 weeks. Hoping I can get to 12 weeks this time without telling anyone - especially that I'm so worried something will go wrong!

rasberryandlime · 10/09/2017 15:57

@RhiKHo I know what you mean, I feel like I have exhausted every excuse for not drinking already.....I'm thinking of booking an early scan, mainly as I'm just so paranoid about something going wrong, so if that goes ok I guess I'd then feel happier telling people a bit earlier.

Youzanne · 10/09/2017 18:08

Hi guys, has anyone been feeling shivery at all? I've been feeling a bit hot and cold, but more cold. Almost fluey. Wondering if it's a common thing x

Marmite27 · 10/09/2017 18:11

Just got a positive test, rough estimate is 18th May. Baby #2 for us, DC 1 is 2 this month. This was our first cycle (took 5 for DC1) so DH is banging on about super sperm Hmm

Marmite27 · 10/09/2017 18:14

Whoops posted too early, Bro & SIL told us today they're 7 weeks, due end of Apiril. Our first DC's are 5 months apart. SILs first was 2 weeks late, mine 2 weeks early so these two could end up being hours apart Confused

We're keeping quiet for now, so I'm spilling here Grin

Congratulations everyone!

rasberryandlime · 10/09/2017 18:28

Thanks @Wineandpyjamas yes definitely, not being able to share yet is reallllly hard so it's great to have a place to chat :)

Congratulations @Marmite27 :)

NatalieG1 · 10/09/2017 19:02

Hi everyone. Congratulations!

I found out I was pregnant last Saturday and I'm currently 4+5, so very early. But we are very excited. It's our first and we get married in December. We have booked an 8 week scan as twins run in my family and I just want to check Grin. I've had pretty strong waves of nausea, sore boobs and have been very tired (but that might be going back to work after the Summer holiday!).

I'm due 15th May.

AlexsMum89 · 10/09/2017 19:04

@youzanne - yes I've brought a spare duvet to keep on the sofa as I'm so cold! I was wearing it yesterday haha

Congratulations @Marmite27 and @NatalieG1 ❤️ Thanks @AlexsMum89 I was a little worried! Am on the sofa now with a blanket and hot water bottle! Hopefully it's just hormones x

Wineandpyjamas · 10/09/2017 20:29

Congratulations @Marmite27 and @NatalieG1! Yes @Youzanne - I've been huddling in my hoodie, sneezing and shivering, with my decaf (aka crap) cuppa and sniping at my poor, long suffering DH. lol I'm having the moodswings bad!

Wineandpyjamas · 10/09/2017 20:31

I've heard that in early pregnancy you have a lower immune system as all the body's energy goes on protecting the baby. So colds etc are pretty common I think.

Gemlouux · 10/09/2017 21:38

Hi all! congratulations :)

I took a test couple weeks ago and I am apparently due May 14th! :)
I would advise to whoever has not got it, to get the ovia pregnancy app! It has been my life saver for looking up food and medication safety (you search for items that will tell you if safe or not) they also have a symptom section. Plus telling you about your body and baby, baby size and articles!
Also Not sure whether to call doctors yet as may be too early.. Il be 5 weeks tomorrow :)

Hi all and congratulations! We're in for a bumpy ride!

I took a test today and found out I'm pregnant with our first. I believe we're due either 19 or 20 May.

I'm feeling pretty very overwhelmed this is it's coinciding with us putting our flat on the market so we can buy a house and a restructure at work (where I've cheekily been pushing for a promotion). We've only told my mum so far and she pretty much echoed my concerns word for word. Would really appreciate some advice/moral support, especially if anyone had negotiated any of the above whilst pregnant before!

Thanks guys! X

AlexsMum89 · 11/09/2017 00:10

Hi @sewsewmum
Don't worry lovely, I'm a bit sad for you that your mum has just made you more worried. There's always a reason to stress, but it will be fine. You can get a house move sorted before you're due and the work stuff - maybe you'll get a promotion sorted before you have to tell anyone? Maybe you won't, but that's ok you can worry about that stuff after you've had baby. You might have different priorities then anyway.
Huge congratulations! X

@Wineandpyjamas haha I am exactly the same! So grumpy for no reason. Thanks for the app tip @Gemlouux I'll download it now. Poor you @sewsewmum try to relax and not worry. If you set your mind to it there is no reason you can't still get that promotion (remember you won't be telling anyone until 3 months anyway) and my brother and his wife moved when she was pregnant. My advice is to take it day by day, finding out you're pregnant is overwhelming enough!

Wineandpyjamas · 11/09/2017 08:04

Congratulations @Gemlouux and @sewsewmum. I echo what @AlexsMum89 has said sewsew. There is always something to stress about. I'm actually in the same position as you - we put our flat on the market literally the day before I found out I was pregnant! Now we have to cope with viewings while both working and looking after our dd! I hope it all goes well for you, remember to just take a few moments each day to just relax and have some 'you' time. I like doing puzzles and those colouring books for adults - sadly long hot baths are now off the menu Wink

sewsewmum · 11/09/2017 08:21

@gemlouux, @wineandpyjamas and @ alexsmum89, thank you so much! I really needed your pep talks last night and they have really cheered me up reading them this morning. Thank you and here any time you guys need a chat too! X

RhiKHo · 11/09/2017 08:57

@raspberryandlime I've read around and apparently non alcoholic beer is pretty good so I'm going for getting that put in a glass and hope that stops suspicion! I can't wait to be able to tell them!
@Wineandpyjamas roll on the next few weeks. Trying very hard not to stress and keep thinking all will be well 🤞🏻

Hill1991 · 11/09/2017 10:33

Hi all congratulations!
I'm currently 5weeks and 2days due around the 12th of may this is my first child and to say I'm worrying over every little thing is an understatement, the only person that knows about my pregnancy is my boss and she has been great about it but none off our family know yet we're waiting to we have either the first scan or Christmas to do a big revel, is it normal to worry so much

JenCotton · 11/09/2017 10:44

Congratulations everyone! I'm due 11th May with my first (eek!) Feeling fine so far but completely relate to you @sewsewmum as we're in the middle of relocating from London to the north, selling our flat and buying a new place, relocating for work (but luckily keeping the same job) and all the stresses that go with that. Trying not to think too much about it as a lot of it is out of my control. The one thing I'm a bit concerned about is not being able to register at a doctors until we've moved into our new place - we're temporarily living with family at the moment. I'm 5 weeks at the moment - when would you ladies suggest having your first appointment?

Xjo1992x · 11/09/2017 11:05

@Hill1991 same! Every ache, pain, cramp I get I'm straight on Google to check it's normal! Constantly convinced it's going to be a chemical pregnancy or ectopic.
Just looking forward to the 12 week mark.... A while to wait though as only 4+4

Joanna0x · 11/09/2017 11:42

I managed to buy a house and move in when I was 37 weeks pregnant, you think you can't do it but trust me you can :) @sewsewmum
