Hi, I'm new to the pregnancy board. I've just found out that I am pregnant with my 2nd (4 weeks today) and the NHS calculator says all being well I will be due around 12th May.

I couldn't see any threads for May yet - anyone just found out and want to join me?

DS has just turned 7 so I'm a bit rusty on this whole pregnancy thing!

Hi @BlueSky1980, I'm sure you will very soon, if it's your first it's very common bot to feel much till about 20wk or more. With my first i found out at the 20wk scan that my placenta was in front of the baby so i didn't feel much either. But as long as your bump is growing and you feel fine. I'm sure you have nothing to worry about x

BlueSky1980 · 10/12/2017 13:09

Thanks @Pennyfitzgerald91 I’m sure you are right. It is my first so it’s all new to me!

Michellebeau · 13/12/2017 15:33

Coming 18 weeks pregnant and due may 19th so excited and love bing jelly sweets at the moment 😊 hoping to find babies gender on the 29th of this month x

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 13/12/2017 18:46

How is everyone and their bumps? I have my 20 week scan next week, I'm very excited to see baby again. we won't be finding out the sex.
My only moan about pregnancy at the moment is that my poor tummy itches like mad and it's sore from me scratching it, other than that im feeling generally well.

BlueRaincoat89 · 13/12/2017 19:32

@McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe I get an itchy belly too...and boobs. It's worse at night. I've been applying the Palmer's stretch mark lotion which does help.

I'm just over 16 weeks and finding out the gender at a private scan on Sunday - we're going to have the results in an envelope and open on Xmas morning. It means that however bad DH does with my presents, I'll be preoccupied!

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 13/12/2017 19:41

Haha, aww that sounds like a lovely plan.
Yes the itchy boobs!! It's awful. I feel like I've scratched my skin raw.

Needmorehands · 13/12/2017 19:47

Its been an interesting week, had a consultant appt as this is my 5th baby and the MW was concerned when she heard that I'd tested +ve for GBS in a couple of the previous pregnancies. I wasn't expecting the consultant to tell me that I was a high risk for post partum haemorrage. It shook me a little but after doing my research I am reassured. Her figures are a(wildly inaccurate, and b) based on out of date information. But because I'm not just being difficult because I can :D I've agreed to extra scans at 28 and 32 weeks. Looking forward to the 20wk scan on Dec 27th, as I've just this week started being aware of movements I think - still feel like gas though!

BlueSky1980 · 13/12/2017 20:00

@McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe - have you tried using Palmers tummy butter? (£3.99 a tub from boots)... I’ve been rubbing in on bump & boobs every night & it’s kept my skin smooth & soft & not itchy at all, despite my large bump (I’ve lost count of how many people keep saying to me ‘oh wow isn’t your bump big’)...
Weirdly I have suddenly developed itchy shins (yep, SHINS - strange I know!!)
I still feel good though, think I can feel the sensation of baby moving - but it’s still very minor.

I’m VERY excited about my 20 week scan on Friday.

It’s nice to hear sone of you are managing to get scan dates before Christmas too.
I don’t know how any of you have the patience to not find out the sex though. I’d love to keep it as a suprise but I just can’t do it. I’m far too impatient!!

BlueSky1980 · 13/12/2017 20:11

@Needmorehands sorry you’ve had such a week (I had to google GBS - pregnancy newbie over here) It sounds like you are being sensible & not worrying yourself too much.. fingers crossed the extra scans give some reassurance. The 27th is a good date for yiur 20 week scan - it’ll be nice to have something to look forward to after Christmas Smile

Fizzysx · 13/12/2017 20:14

I hope everyones well, heard the baby's heartbeat yesterday which was amazing and was getting impatient as midwife cancelled last week.

I cant hold on till my 20 week scan on the 2nd January so we are having an early one next Tuesday which is very exciting although im 99% sure its a boy had a gut feeling from quite early on where as my DH thinks its a girl. We are giving family members Gender Reveal Scratch Cards to open Christmas morning which shall me fun.

I might try that tummy butter that was mentioned as keep having a itchy belly too!

Keep craving crackers with Philadelphia and cheddar cheese on top which is werid as Im really not a cheese person.
Does anyone else find this 2nd trimester is going so fast?

sewsewmum · 14/12/2017 09:56

@Michellebeau we are due date and scan date buddies!

Needmorehands · 14/12/2017 10:55

Hi Bluesky itchy shins here too! bizarre this pregnancy stuff :D sorry for using abbreviations - its bacteria which are naturally present in your body - sometimes more than others - and they don't like the baby getting too many of them during the process of being born but the risk is very tiny. If I had chosen to have the ABx then I would have had to go to hospital because of the risk of the ABx causing a problem! Have a lovely scan tomorrow :)

Your craving for crackers and cheese sounds good Fizzy I'm definitely on savoury things here as well - anyone know if there's an old wives tale if that means boy or girl? I don't wan tot find out at the scan, but DH does...

BlueSky1980 · 14/12/2017 11:50

@Fizzysx I’m with you on the food.. it’s pretty much all I think about! Currently I’m particularly keen on pringles, crumpets & lots of cheese. I’m trying so hard not to over-eat but it’s so blooming hard! I’m glad I still feel ok jogging in the mornings, if I wasn’t exercising I’d have to be more careful with the food Shock

Flumplet · 14/12/2017 13:10

Scan today says it's a boy! 🤩 a baby brother for my ds. Can't wait for May!

BlueSky1980 · 14/12/2017 15:28

Yay @Flumplet! Congratulations! That is so exciting!

Fizzysx · 14/12/2017 15:42

@Flumplet Congratulations!!

Has anyone started buying things yet?

BunnyFluffy · 14/12/2017 16:18

How much weight have you put on? I'm 18 weeks and gained a stone already (7kg)

LittleFox01 · 14/12/2017 16:39

@Flumplet congratulations on having a little boy! I am also having a boy ☺️

I have bought a load of clothes from a friend because she is having a girl so didn't need the boy clothes. I was trying to hold out until after Christmas, but couldn't resist! They are folded sorted into ages, will re wash just before he arrives.

NHS scan on 27th December and we can't wait to see him again.

Hope everyone is feeling well :) xx

Flumplet · 14/12/2017 17:05

I've been asked by someone already whether I wish it was a girl as I already have a boy - no!!! I really don't!! It's going to be awesome. I know what I'm doing with a boy I couldn't picture myself with a girl at all. Plus we have a whole world of boy shizzle so we are going to save a fortune! 💰

nats1017 · 14/12/2017 21:25

Congrats to everyone on finding out their gender! I’m 18+5 and had a private scan at 16 weeks to find out as I was so impatient! We are having a boy :) got our anomaly scan on Thursday and have become aware of lots of little taps this week which must be baby’s movements! So excited for these to get stronger! It’s been nice as I’ve been suffering with a cold all week so been resting up on the sofa for days and these little taps have kept me company!

Needmorehands · 14/12/2017 21:36

Hi Littlefox, we have our next scan on 27th as well :)

Is everyone planning on finding out the gender? DH says he wants to know, even though I told him I'll do less shopping for it if I don't know :D

McTootBlowsOnHisBagpipe · 15/12/2017 08:09

Wow wee lots of boys!! That's so lovely, I already have boys and they're great! I'll be waiting another 20 weeks to find out if I'm having another boy 😂

Ah that body butter sounds like I need to bathe in a tub of it!

LittleFox01 · 15/12/2017 10:12

@Needmorehands how far will you be at your scan? I will be 21+1, they wanted me to wait an extra week to give baby time to grow a bit bigger so they can measurements , I think it's because I have a higher BMI and he wasn't playing ball at the 12 week scan. Are you going to find out what you are having? If you haven't already.

I love knowing what I am having so I can prepare his nursery, clothes, a name and everything else that comes with having a baby 😊 we only had girl names, so it gave me the kick up the bum to look for boy names too.

Good luck to all who have scans coming up in the next couple of weeks! Xx

BlueSky1980 · 15/12/2017 17:12

20 week scan showed a healthy looking baby girl! Eeeek!
At least names won’t be a problem as both The Husband & I agree on top 3 girls names, but were totally stuck on boys!
Good luck everyone else having scans over next few weeks Smile

MilfordFound · 15/12/2017 17:33

Aw lots of lovely scan news, congrats everyone. My scan is on Monday, getting a bit nervous now, fingers crossed all is well. We'll find out the gender hopefully. My toddler says it's a sister in there, so if it's not I'll need to prepare her!

I've put on at least a stone, I've stopped weighing myself as it was getting too depressing! I constantly have to eat to relieve the nausea and heartburn.
