I can't see anything on your scan hun...I think little mite is at the wrong angle!

4D scans can be done from 24-34 weeks. They weren't about when I had my boys so this will be our first experience...a mixture of excitement and apprehension see our baby in 3D lol

emvy · 24/10/2017 13:28

I'm in the club of being convinced I'm having a girl! It's funny because I thought it was a boy until 12 weeks and then all of a sudden became convinced it's a girl. I keep thinking "she" and even had a scan dream where the sonographer said "she". I don't know if it's just that I have no idea or that good old "intuiation"! I also don't mind at all - I'm just desperate for my wonderful little bundle to be ok. Thinking about finding out the gender at the scan seems bottom of my list of questions but we would like to know. I'm so petrified something will be wrong. Good old past experiences making me anxious. I also have no idea how to tell nub theory but have been having a good old stare every day at our 12 week picture which is super clear, in order to get a hint. Still no actual idea what I'm looking for though! All being well we'll find out on the 24th November!

Bez9087 · 24/10/2017 13:29

@clairebear when I had my daughter 7 nearly 8 years ago we couldn’t find out her gender as she had legs firmly crossed and feet tucked up under her bum no amount of budging would move her. When I went back a few days later they told me to have a chocolate bar or small can of fizzy pop as it encourages baby to move the sugars etc in it sure enough legs wide open clear enough to see she was a girl 😂
We have a scan next Thursday I’m going to be doing the chocolate bar and bit of fizzy pop to try encourage them to show us what they are 🤞🏻
Currently trying to stop myself worrying as my three year old leant over me this morn but his elbow really dug in lower part of my stomach just above pubic bone and it’s been really achy since 😞 phoned early pregnancy they said long as not bleeding should be fine but have phoned my specialist midwife too who’s bringing me in for monitoring tomorrow just for reassurance to listen to their heartbeats so I know they are fine. I’m such a worrier this time round.

emvy · 24/10/2017 13:48

Bez, I caught myself with the dustpan and brush when I was about 10/11 weeks - I caught it on the door and the handle pushed really, really hard into my lower abdomen and I literally broke down in tears convinced I'd killed the baby! Turns out I was freaking out over nothing - even though I was pretty sure I was it's hard to stop those voices sometimes isn't it. Also, babies survive car crashes even when the mother is severely injured. I really am 100% sure you're fine but that's nice they're taking you in for reassurance!

Bez9087 · 24/10/2017 13:55

Thankyou @emvy that’s reassuring to know. It’s crazy how ours minds work isn’t it.
I know I’m a nervous wreck and I love but hate the fact my specialist midwife already knows me by just my first name and tone of voice 🙈 we had a little boy in 2011 who was stillborn due to an awful lot of medical problems with him and all I keep thinking about is his pregnancy and if we did anything different etc (we couldn’t it was a problem with his genetics). But because of that I’m such a worrier. I thought I wouldn’t be as bad this time round as we have had another son inbetween but it seems it never goes away. I know they will be probably fine in there and well cushioned and the same for the aches I probably have due to stretching pains etc but I am only noticing them due to this elbow. It’s so hard to try keep level headed.

emvy · 24/10/2017 14:07

Bez, I'm so so sorry for the loss of your little boy. I can completely understand how that makes you worry more now and I'm sure the specialist midwife also understands and doesn't mind at all providing you with reassurance. Whatever reassurance you need you should have. You deserve the easiest and stress-free of pregnancies and I hope you hear their little heartbeats nice and strong tomorrow x

ClaireBear1986 · 24/10/2017 14:11

Glad it's not just me @Ninjamilo. I am 15 weeks on Thurs!!
I am literally going home, having dinner and falling asleep during the week. Then weekends I am struggling to even get dressed.
Would love for an afternoon nap in the week, but sadly I don't have the option of working from home :(

I do a 10 hour day and do 3 hours of commuting on the tubes every day. So leaving my house at 6.30am, and getting home at 7.30pm isn't helping either

My little Peanut likes to hide and be at funny angles @AnnaMadden. so I'm not surprised that you say that. Got a feeling that he/she won't play ball at the gender scan.

I had problems at my 12 week scan @Bez9087, baby is very stubborn and didn't want to move from his/her hidey hole. I have a curved womb too so that didn't help.
I ended up having an internal scan and then walking around, dancing, eating sweets and drinking fizzy drinks to try and encourage the little mite to move.
Eventually after having my scan booked in at about 10.30am, we managed to get the scan done at about 1.30pm when he/she eventually moved just slightly.
Think I have a very stubborn baby already, so he/she is clearly taking after Daddy. Ha ha.

ClaireBear1986 · 24/10/2017 14:13

When are you planning on telling your work @@Ninjamilo?
You have done well to keep it secret this long!!

Bez9087 · 24/10/2017 14:55

Thankyou @emvy xx it’s like every time I try to keep my level head on something decides to make me question it. Xx

HarryHarry · 24/10/2017 15:49

I'm having a 4D scan in Week 21 as part of a research study I'm taking part in (I am currently 16+1). I have convinced myself it's a boy but part of me hopes for a girl just because I like the idea of having a little Mini Me around. I said I wouldn't be doing the whole blue/pink thing but it doesn't look like there's much choice when it comes to gender neutral stuff where I live.

Still feeling bloody awful though I sometimes have a burst of energy now and then.

My worrying seems to intensify between scans but I think it's normal. Hang in there everyone, in a few weeks we'll be nearly at the halfway point!

AnnaMadden · 24/10/2017 16:54

16 week midwife appointment today went well. Everything is as it should be...heartbeat nice and strong...I could listen to that all day, so reassuring! With 150 bpm I'm still thinking girl lol but we'll see. Next appointment is my next scan at 22 weeks...bring it on!

Alnilham · 24/10/2017 18:01

SBDB
We are alike..my husband and I were together a long time too...14 year s and marries for 3 and this is our first as well.

I had my first scan at 8 weeks cause I had some spotting and am waiting till 20 weeks for the second...want to make sure baby is alright. I don't feel anything definite with regard to movement and have been feeling pretty good aside from period headaches...even my old adage constipation is getting better.

Alnilham · 24/10/2017 18:22

I don't want to know the gender but my husband does. Grandfather 95 years old says its a girl and at pur 12 week appointment t the obstetrician said that it might be a girl because it was staying quiet when we were listening to the heart beat. She said boys usually move all over at that stage. Also I really want a girl as my first child.

So to reach a compromise at the 20week scan if we can tell the gender I will have it written on a piece of paper and given to my best friend. I will then plan a gender reveal tree trimming party. Guest will bring ornaments and then my best friend will give everyone extra ornaments representing the sex of the baby. I am not doing blue or pink I am thinking blue and orange, lilac or red.

The scan should be the end of November.

SBDB · 24/10/2017 20:02

@Alnilham - that's a great idea about the gender reveal. We are the same - my husband really wants to know the gender. I think I am slowly coming around to his thinking - mostly to prove him wrong I think! He's adamant it'll be a boy whereas I have a funny feeling it's a girl! I have nothing to base this on but intuition I guess.

DaisyLand · 25/10/2017 11:24

Hello!
Feeling so bloated today! As if I was 50w pregnant and I'm only 16 hahaha
Booked this weekend an appoitment in WindowToTheWomb, i keep suffering from anxiety so every now and again i need some reassurance, because of pcos last year i was 14months without the period so keep feeling that im still in that phase, i think i've not yet mentally assumed that i'm pregnant. I've booked the Gender reveal package so husband will know finally if mini is boy or girl , tho I'll be 16+3 so it might be little bit difficult yet, for me it's more a reassurance scan than anything else, I keep going to scans anxious and crying worried of the outcome... Havent still decided whether I want to know the gender.

@ClaireBear1986 blimey i'd not be able to survive in your day to day life! I normally leave home 750am and back by 5pm and it feels long enough! And as @Ninjamilo I can wfh and since I'm pregnant my managers have been really nice and allowed me to wfh as I please, in fact I'm planning to work as many weeks as I can and the last ones will be for sure from Home :D

*@Bez9087 * how did your appoitment go? Hope yu're feeling better today

Bez9087 · 25/10/2017 11:35

@DaisyLand it went well Thankyou. We heard their heartbeats separately because every time they got one in place the other one buggered off 🙊 the twin on my left was 156 and twin on my right 134 so good. She was happy that they was different rates as meant she hadn’t picked the same one up twice. Was quite nice listening to them. Got my midwife appointment and scan next week and then the specialist midwife I saw today has re booked me in for two weeks time just to listen in again for reassurance.
How exciting you have a scan on Saturday do you think you will find out? xx

AnnaMadden · 25/10/2017 11:43

@Bez9087 oooo so if you believe the heart rate theory that means you could be having one of each 😉

ClaireBear1986 · 25/10/2017 11:44

I'm definitely struggling @DaisyLand. Yesterday was horrendous, as I had to leave at 5.30am and wasn't home till 8pm.
Thinking of asking my boss if I could take a shorter break and leave half an hour earlier. He's quite understanding so fingers crossed.
Half an hour doesn't sound much, but it really would make a difference to how busy my tube journey home is.

DaisyLand · 25/10/2017 12:09

Bez9087 that's really good! I've never heard the HB of the LO but they keep saying it's at good levels so that's what keeps me happy

ClaireBear1986 hope your boss is as understanding as mine, i know for sure(99% sure) I wont be replaced when I'm on maternity leave so it's for their best to keep me happy in here so that I'm here for longer annoying (i mean working for) them :D

Bez9087 · 25/10/2017 12:22

@AnnaMadden i keep dreaming it’s one of each. Also the skull theory? Someone my friend knows said it indicates one of each. Fingers crossed we find out next week 🤞🏻

AnnaMadden · 25/10/2017 12:34

How exciting!...I'm sure you'll let us know! 😁

TeaAndToast85 · 25/10/2017 13:30

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Just booked a gender scan for 16 weeks, which is still 2 weeks away ShockI am so unbelievably impatient...

TeaAndToast85 · 25/10/2017 13:41

@DaisyLand the anxiety is so difficult isn't it. Scans reassure you for a few days, but I've found that I just start worrying again then. I still haven't really accepted that I'm pregnant either, and I don't expect I will until I feel kicks. Flowers

DaisyLand · 25/10/2017 13:49

I actually "think" I've been feelng the kicks for a couple of weeks now! After 14w I started Feeling as if some feathers were tickling me from inside and in the last week it's been more like bubbles moving around a few times during the day. But even then... the scare of 20w is in my mind and that i'll need to go back to PCOS symptoms... Aw well, this saturday I'll see my baby, in 3 weeks I'm away in holidays and in 4 I'll see the baby again! Just need to stay positive and dont let the anxiety beat me Flowers

*@Bez9087 * There are too many theories! I read about Kate having a boy because of the chinese calendar, Accordng to it , I'm having a girl! I actually dreamt when I was 8w or something like that that I was having a boy and i behaved like a stroppy child saying I didnt want a boy and that a girl was what I wanted hahaha This is the calendar tho i guess it doesnt work for twins www.babycenter.com/chinese-gender-predictor

DaisyLand · 25/10/2017 13:51

Actually this other side predicts a boy www.thebump.com/chinese-gender-chart
Hmm Confused
