Hi @charlie0692

I was having those aches low in my abdomen too and then sometimes I would get a sharp pain which made me panic, I have had my 16 week appointment with the midwife now and she wasn't concerned and said it was probably just this round ligament pain as everything is loosening! It was reassuring as we got to hear little ones heartbeat at the appointment which was amazing! I still get nervous before every appointment or scan, does everyone else?

Even though the sickness has gone now and I am less tired I definitely get more headaches and get really hot at night, slept with the window open despite the storm last night! Can't sleep otherwise

Fionaclaire89 · 17/10/2017 08:45

What baby show are you going to @amysaurus87, I was thinking of going to one?

ClaireBear1986 · 17/10/2017 08:52

Good luck with the Baby on Board Badge @amysaurus87, mine has been pretty useless so far :(

I started wearing it at 11 weeks, as I was suffering with cramps, morning sickness and fatigue and I do 3-3.5 hours of commuting on the tube per day, and never get a seat. Most people totally ignore the badge though. One day I felt so ill, that I had to sit on the floor and still nobody offered me a seat. Not sure why I expected anything else in London though. Ha.

My advise is to stand near young men (20's - 30's) as they are the most likely to offer you a seat.
I have found older men tend to see the badge, and then pretend to be asleep or reading. And women tend to give me the most disgusted look and then just stare at me for the remainder of the journey.
I actually avoid standing near women now, as they make me feel so uncomfortable.

Hopefully you are travelling in a friendlier area, and will have more luck!! Fingers crossed.

Just another 4.5 months of London commuting to get through!!!

ClaireBear1986 · 17/10/2017 08:56

I'm making the most if it at the moment, as I seem to sleeping better than I ever have. I don't expect this to last much longer!!

Sickness, cramps, and tiredness all seem to have calmed down now too. My only main symptom at the moment is the frequent need to pee.
I am going on average 6 times an hour but luckily it is not waking me up so far.

Everyone had said that the 2nd trimester is the best part of pregnancy and most symptoms tend to vanish for those 3 months, so fingers crossed that is the case.

charlie0692 · 17/10/2017 09:14

Thank you, that's good to know @Fionaclaire89 , I don't have my 16 week apt until next Wednesday as they couldn't fit me in this week so was going to ask her about the pains then ☺. I'm starting to panic about the appointment already 🙈 x

emvy · 17/10/2017 20:33

So sorry to those of you having a tough time with London tube travel! That doesn't sound fun at all Sad I'm ashamed people aren't more thoughtful. I commute in my car and don't have much experience of London travel so I actually assumed people were more sensitive. Well done to the young men of today (that actually are courteous)!

I also get petrified before appointments and scans. I got my 20 week scan date through on Friday and I'm already having anxious dreams about it! Last night it was that somehow I got into someone else's 20 week scan even though I was only 16 weeks and I realised at the last minute it wasn't meant to be my scan as I wasn't 20 weeks yet and had to try and worm my way out of a scan I'd already got worked up about. It made complete sense at the time! Clearly I'm back to heightened anxiety. It all seems too good to be true at the moment.

ClaireBear1986 · 17/10/2017 20:49

@emvy Im hoping that other people are having more luck than me on the tubes. Fingers crossed.

Good luck for your scan on Friday, let us know how it goes. Are you finding out the gender?

emvy · 17/10/2017 21:42

Sorry my message was confusing Claire! I got the letter through last Friday, for the 24th November! So it's ages away to already have scanxiety! I'll be 20 weeks exactly then, 14+3 today. We'd like to find out, yes Smile are you going to? Do you have your date through?

DaisyLand · 17/10/2017 23:21

I’m going on the 23rd! I was 1st given the 28th but I changed it so if everything goes ok I might do some Black Friday shopping on the 24th!

amysaurus87 · 18/10/2017 07:32

@Fionaclaire89 haven't thought about baby shows just yet, but I've heard that the one at London Olympia is pretty good.

@ClaireBear1986 that's awful! I'm quite lucky that in the morning I get on at the end of the line so unless I'm running super late I always get a seat, it's coming home that's the issue. I totally agree older men are the worst for ignoring you and funny enough so are some women!

ClaireBear1986 · 18/10/2017 09:29

@emvy In that case, good luck for the 24th November :)
Mine is booked for 1st December, when I will be 20 weeks and 1 day. I just hope that baby plays ball this time, as he/she seems to be a little camera shy and likes to hide.

Yes we will definitely be finding out the gender. I'm soo excited to know. I am convinced that I am having a boy already.

@amysaurus87 Yes women are definitely the worst. As I say they not only don't offer a seat, but they tend to just glare at me and make me feel so uncomfortable. Was really shocked as I thought women would be more sympathetic.
Three cheers for all the nice young men, who still have manners though and offer pregnant women (and elderly.disabled people) a seat. Good to know there are still some Gents in London.

Fionaclaire89 · 18/10/2017 09:53

@charlie0692 I hope your appointment goes well. It took her a while to find the heartbeat, I was told this is very common so don't panic if it takes a while. It felt like an eternity before she found it but in reality it was probably only a couple of minutes.

We are having our 20week scan on the 17th November, can't wait to see our little one again, always very active so hopefully they will be able to tell what we are having. We are going to get them to write it down and have a gender reveal party I think with family. Everyone thinks we are having a boy from our first scan, but the heartbeat was high on our last appointment which suggests its a girl, so no idea!!!

AnnaMadden · 18/10/2017 09:58

Ladies...need a rant...I've had a headache since Sunday evening and literally feel at my wits end...this is not fun! Sorry to put a downer on everyone. Rant over! Sad

ClaireBear1986 · 18/10/2017 11:04

@Fionaclaire89 Love the idea of a gender reveal for all the family.
Less than a month to go as well, so not too long!!

I have a very stubborn baby, so I have a feeling he/she probably won't play ball at the Gender Scan!! Really hope he/she does as I am keen to know and start buying things.

Sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell @AnnaMadden. I had awful headaches a few weekends ago, and it was awful so i can really sympathise with you.
Hope you start feeling better soon :)

WonderfullySunny · 18/10/2017 12:01

@AnnaMadden sorry you’ve had a headache since Sunday, of course you’re allowed to rant! Have you tried the 4head stick? That seems to really help any headaches I’ve had so far.

Sorry to all those not having a good commute on the underground I can’t imagine what that must be like when you’re already feeling nauseous and a bit hot.

@Ninjamilo I was moved back a day on my 12 week scan we we’re now due dates buddies on 26/4 Smile also had a retroverted uterus and was told that it’s often easier to get a clear picture without a clear bladder!

Also been having sharp pain when getting up from a sitting position, consultant assured me this was normal in first time pregnancies.

Ps welcome to all the newbies who I’ve missed after being away a wee while!

WonderfullySunny · 18/10/2017 12:02

Sorry that should have said without a full bladder!!

HarryHarry · 18/10/2017 18:47

ClaireBear1986 and amysaurus87 I'm really surprised to hear that about women. I wonder why that is? Maybe they think you don't have big enough bumps yet? I'm glad I'm not in London anymore! Hope it gets better for you both x

AnnaMadden I've had huge headaches every day of the 2nd trimester so far (currently 15+2). Have you taken paracetamol? I hate to do it but most sources say it's safe. Coke is also meant to help though I know it's not great to drink that either.

AnnaMadden · 18/10/2017 19:35

@HarryHarry I gave in yesterday and started taking paracetamol to try and get relief but so far it hasn't done anything! The consultant at the antenatal clinic today said to take paracetamol every 6 hours for the next 3 days and if no improvement in have to call the clinic...so let's see if that works! I'll try anything right now!

Loosemoose28 · 18/10/2017 20:33

The headaches are hideous this one been since monday.

Got home and burst into tears today. Gonna try stick for head. Taken two lots of paracetamol to get through the day today.

HarryHarry · 18/10/2017 20:53

Alnilham I just realised that you described yourself as 'a little chubby' and 'bigger', and then said I look like you! I hope you just mean the size of our bumps! Grin

FourForYouGlenCoco · 18/10/2017 22:39

Anna, Harry and Loose sorry about the headaches, I had them with my DD, they were absolutely horrific Sad hope you both find something that works for you.

London ladies, sympathies on the tube troubles! I find that stepping foot on the tube seems to turn perfectly normal people into massive wankers. Quite depressing really. I used to live there and still miss it in terms of things to do, etc, but would hate to have to wrangle bump (and latterly kids!) and stuff on the tube all the time. Pros and cons, I guess.

emvy I also get bad scanxiety. Have had too many bad scan experiences not to! I just try and forget about it til it's actually here and that stops me brooding on it too much (although I usually spend the week or so before completely wound up and on edge anyway).

Harry that's the weeniest little bump! Very cute Smile

I'm just starting to round out slightly round the tummy. Mostly I still just look a bit fat and bloated though (tbh mostly I still am just fat and bloated - I deflate a lot overnight and gradually inflate again through the day!). My boobs are finally sort of catching up with the pregnancy memo - by now they were huge in prev pgs, but I think they're past the point of no return this time!
Re finding out - I did with both my others, but aiming for a surprise this time! Although if it's anything like my DS, we won't have a choice - I went for my 20w scan, she put the doodad on my tummy, and there, instantly, was an unmistakeable little willy - he was hanging out upside down with his legs wide open. Was lucky we'd wanted to find out anyway Grin will have to keep my eyes shut this time!

Alnilham · 19/10/2017 00:32

I have been having headaches off and on for a the past week not awful but annoying as I don't really experience headaches.

@WonderfullySunny I also have a retroverted uterus. Was doing some reading and it can delay how early you show.

Alnilham · 19/10/2017 00:34

@ HarryHarry yes I mean the bump. Lol. Grin

ScarletSienna · 19/10/2017 06:36

Four-that’s such a lovely bump that’s starting!

Alnilham · 19/10/2017 07:38

What is the forehead stick?
