lisara79 I bought a pregnancy pillow too and I love it though I do sometimes end up on my front as well. Why does that worry you? Is it bad for the baby? Just asking in case I should be worried too Smile

Loosemoose28 Lovely pictures! I don't really understand skull/nub theory myself, I can never tell what I'm supposed to be looking at to figure out whether it's a girl or a boy (beyond the obvious, that is). Do you have a preference? I am too impatient to wait for surprises so we'll be finding out at our next scan in Week 21 (5 weeks away).

SBDB · 22/10/2017 22:01

Hey everyone

Please may I join? I have been watching this thread since I found out I was pregnant the first week of August but have been too anxious to post. I had my 12 week scan last week and was dated at 12+3 making my due date April 24th. I was too anxious to post before I knew everything was OK and now feeling more relieved as scan all went well and results for potential risks were all very low.

Despite my relief that all went well there is also a growing anxiety as now I've seen it on the screen and it was moving etc. it all feels much more real and terrifying. Anyone else the same? Despite this hubby and I are so excited. We've been together for 10 years, married for 2 and this is our first baby.

Bez9087 · 23/10/2017 08:05

Hi @SBDB hope your feeling well? It’s normal to feel anxious. This is our 4th & 5th babies this time and I’m still anxious now I doubt it ever goes away. Just try enjoy it. You are coming into the second trimester so should hopefully start feeling better if you have had any sickness etc recently.
I seem to have gone the opposite and permanently exhausted last few days having a day time nap 😳 I’m 15+2 due 14th April although will probably end up having elcs in March. Nice to meet you everyone here has been so friendly 😊

Teeeee · 23/10/2017 12:12

Thank you for the congrats and hi again :) I wasn't sick on my wedding thankfully. I think the adrenaline and all the emotions saved me. The next days after, well different story!@emvy I have a similar bump to you and am very nearly 14weeks.

Was following the thread about lying on your tummy.. I also sometimes end up in that position when sleeping.. is that a bad thing?

:/

Hope youre all having a good start of the week

Xx

charlie0692 · 23/10/2017 12:37

Congratulations on your wedding @Teeeee ☺ hope everyone is doing well. I've been feeling really good over the past couple of weeks other than one morning last week and again this morning, I go really light headed and hot and feel like I'm about to pass out whilst on the train. Not really sure why, maybe I have a bit of low bloody pressure, I have a midwife appointment on Wednesday so going to ask her then. Anyone else had moments like this, I'm 16w4d ? X

Slizmon · 23/10/2017 12:55

Hi ladies, new here, first pregnancy, 14w 3d, starting to see a bump emerge which is so exciting Smile anyone else still in disbelief that there's a baby in there or is that just me? Grin looking forward to 20 wk scan 1st December!

emvy · 23/10/2017 13:59

Welcome SBDB. I know exactly how you feel. This will be my first baby too but have had two miscarriages this year and after seeing our beautiful baby wriggling around I've become well and truly attached. As others have said, we've reached safer territory and although things can still go wrong, we should try to take each day as it comes and enjoy our pregnancies. It's what I try to tell myself when I have wobbles about things going wrong.

Bez, we have the same due date! Although it sounds like you're not expecting to make it there with your twins. Let's hope they get nice and close. Smile

Charlie, I get that all the time! Everyday! It comes on really unexpectedly - I can have just eaten, be feeling hungry, be stood in a queue at a shop... anywhere! Yesterday I almost had to sit down in the supermarket and make my OH pack the shopping bags (thankfully it didn't come to that because frankly he'd have definitely packed them all wrong 😉). I think it's fairly normal and as you say, linked to low blood pressure. I plan to mention it to my midwife at my 16 week appointment too.

Slizmon, welcome and definitely! I have to keep looking at our scan picture to remind myself!

ClaireBear1986 · 23/10/2017 14:06

I have always slept on my left side, but since being pregnant I seem to always wake up on my right side. A few people have mentioned to me how I shouldn't be sleeping on my right side when pregnant. Does anyone know if this is true, and would a pregnancy pillow help with this?

Welcome @Slizmon, I am 14 weeks and 4 days today and also have my 20w scan on 1st December. Is this your 1st pregnancy, how are you finding it? Are you hoping to find out the gender?
I definitely keep feeling the same as you. Keep thinking I have just ate a lot of burgers recently, and then remember its a baby. Ha ha.

AnnaMadden · 23/10/2017 14:29

@ClaireBear1986 sleeping on the back later in pregnancy is not good for you or the baby. Sleeping your side is best...the left side being the best as this is when the baby can get more from the placenta however, sleeping on the right will not hurt it. I have a sleep genii pillow which is made for sleeping on your left and makes it awkward to sleep on the right, but not impossible. This may help you too if it helps put your mind at rest.

ClaireBear1986 · 23/10/2017 14:44

Thanks @AnnaMadden.

Going to have a google, as I think a few people have mentioned the Sleep Genii.

Glad it's nothing to worry about waking up on the right side then. People have a habit of telling me horror tales but giving no explanation and then just leave me worrying my head off!!

Really odd though as have slept on my left all my life, so not sure why my body is now determined to sleep on the right side!!

AnnaMadden · 23/10/2017 14:56

No worries...I hate it when people do that. Pregnancy is stressful enough!

I got mine from Mothercare...pricey but worth it!

Our bodies are strange things at times 😊

Poppy012 · 23/10/2017 15:06

Hi ladies can I join please, was on the may thread but my scan has put me ahead so due 29th April Grin
Can anyone guess the gender please?

@emvy how cool 😊 I’m down for being 40 weeks on the 14th April but I’m sure I got told they are delivered at 37 if not arrived before 🙊 I have read a lot arrive from 34 weeks. It made me go oooo when it went from 40 to 37 and now if it’s 34 Jesus I’m loosing weeks 😂🙈
Not bought anything yet 🙊 we have a lot from our son and daughter except another cot, car seat and pram and obviously if it’s two girls or boys. I’m gonna attempt to buy some neutral baby grows in tiny baby I think this week so at least I feel I have started.
Welcome to everyone who’s joined 😊
Our anomaly scan is the 30th November then the consultant straight after. I’m so nervous for it. Already counting down the days till next Thursday for our extra scan.

Slizmon · 23/10/2017 20:10

@emvy and @ClaireBear1986 good I'm glad it's not just me Smile yes we'll find out the gender at next scan, we're so convinced it's a girl that we need to get that confirmed / denied as soon as possible! I'm reading a really good pregnancy book " Expecting Better " by Emily Oster that I'd recommend to anyone who is getting mixed messages re pregnancy medical advice from GP, midwife and Internet, it's really helped me so far!

Littlebatcalledlucille · 23/10/2017 20:18

Hello!!!! I can't remember if I was on the old thread? Please excuse me if I've barged in!
I had a scan on Saturday and I'm further than we thought I will be 14 weeks tomorrow!
So my official due date is the 24th anyway apologies for bursting in, I will now catch up with the rest of you and read the thread!
Oh and I hope you ladies are all well xxx

ClaireBear1986 · 24/10/2017 08:45

I have been looking for a good book @slizmon, so I will have a google of that one later on.
Thanks for the recommendation.

I am 99% sure that I am having a boy. Not sure why, nothing to do with symptoms or old wives tales etc, just convinced for some reason.
What makes you think it is a girl @slizmon?

As long as the baby is healthy though, that is all I am really bothered about. Just want to know the gender so I can start buying clothes etc.

DaisyLand · 24/10/2017 10:12

Funny I'm 99% convinced I'm having a girl hahaha, everywhere i look at it's always a pink te 1st thing I see and also wen reading books about pregnancy most of the time they say "It's a girl" ahaha My DH prefers a Girl, I've no preference, took us too long to be where we are at the moment so gnder is not at the top of my worries

Im thinking wheter to book a private scan next week in windowtothewomb as not sure i can wait another month for the scan!

DaisyLand · 24/10/2017 10:13

@ClaireBear1986 I'm reading "what to expect when you're expecting"

ClaireBear1986 · 24/10/2017 10:33

I'm actually so torn to what I would prefer. As I say I just want a healthy baby. But some days I wake up and think I would really like a boy, and other days I wake up and think I would really like a girl.
I'm just excited to know now :)

I've booked a private scan on 6th November with Baby Bond to find out.
My baby is quite stubborn, and I have this feeling that he/she will hide /cross it's legs and luckily Babybond offer a free re scan if they are unable to tell you the gender on that day.

Unfortunately my NHS scans have so far been a nightmare. I was dreading having to go to Queens Hospital in Romford as it has such a bad reputation, but they have been far worse than I ever imagined!! My early scan at Babybond was amazing, so I'm hoping the 16 week private scan will be a really lovely experience.

Plus, I'm really impatient and don't think I can wait till 1st December if I don't have to. Ha ha.

AnnaMadden · 24/10/2017 10:49

I have 3 boys so would secretly love a girl but to be honest the old cliché stands and I'll be more than happy with either with the hope that he or she is healthy. I have a feeling I'm having a girl though as this pregnancy is so different to my others...mind you, as my youngest is 18 years old now I could have just forgotten lol. We won't be finding out though...it's going to kill me lol but we would like it to be a surprise! I have looked into the nub theory which says I'm having a girl hehe...but we'll see...I won't be buying anything pink! 😉

ClaireBear1986 · 24/10/2017 11:07

I keep hearing about the nub theory.

What exactly is that?

My last scan was at 13 weeks, but baby was hiding so picture is too unclear to even see a baby let alone anything else :(
I did have a scan done at 11 weeks, when the baby looked quite developed so keep looking at that but deffo no give away for the gender.

I think I would just be too impatient to wait @AnnaMadden. Wish I could, because what a lovely surprise when you give birth!!

AnnaMadden · 24/10/2017 11:37

The 'nub' looks like a stick coming out of the genital area...not really sure how to describe it lol...if this stick is parallel to spine so lies flat it's said to be a girl. If it lies at a 30 degree angle to the spine it's a boy. Only a theory of course but will be interesting to see if it works.

We've booked a 4D scan for January which is going to be even harder to not want to look lol...but we're looking forward to the surprise 😊

DaisyLand · 24/10/2017 11:58

According to Nub then it's a boy what i'm carrying.

I "like" more the idea of where the placenta is located
If left or middle and baby on the right, then a girl
If placenta on the right and baby on the left then it's a boy

All my pains as well as baby movements have been in the right side, mw told me that's where the baby is located then.

Aw well, whatever baby is! I dont mind... I still dont' know whether I want to know, DH wants to, I dont so much so he might know and I might not, that will be funny for him trying to hide it from me :D

Also for girls we've got the name chosen (it's my fav. name since i was 16) for boys we still are unsure, I'm basque (north spain) and have my own language/names completley different to spanish and I know i want the baby to have a name from that area. DH is british but wants a basque name, so the trick is to find a name that i like but that is easy to pronounce for british people.

I'm the same @ClaireBear1986

Was desperately hoping for that energy boost but 14 weeks on Thursday and my tiredness has got worse....to the point I now have an afternoon nap if I'm working from home. Work still don't know so office days are tough!
