Grin it's the only way to describe the shape.

I actually preferred the internal ones as they could locate everything quicker and it was so clear on the screen.

Warning: after an internal scan, you feel rather...slippery. Take wipes.

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 09:47

lol I'm going to be going to that scan chuckling about ETs finger but absolutely terrified at the same time! Haha I forgot to ask what's panorama screening?

lisara79 · 11/08/2017 09:47

Hey.... I am thinking about an early scan bit going to wait until 8/9 weeks... I found out CD 33, 16 dpo... AD can vary from 28 to 32 days so waited until very end... my midwife appointment apparently needs to be around week 7/8... @islingtonhels so sorry your partner isn't supportive... time to look after yourself I think x

ScarletSienna · 11/08/2017 09:53

Panorama screening is like the Harmony Test - test for Down Syndrome and other genetic conditions. I'm feeling old at 35 and want to know as early as possible.

Lisa-I'm thinking 8 weeks for scan too. Then I can have it done before midwife appt!

Islingtonhels-let's hope its shock but either way, get support from others (and us) and let yourself feel excited Flowers

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 11:53

I thought it might be something like that @ScarletSienna.

I've just got my scan appointment with the early pregnancy unit. It's on the 23rd which isn't too long away! Fingers crossed everythings ok. I'll only be 6 weeks so they will probably do the internal one.

MrsLadyL · 11/08/2017 11:54

Hey ladies Iv just got my bfp still in shock thought I'd jump onboard x

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 11:57

Hi @MrsLadyL I'm here from the August bfp bus to! Congratulations!

MrsLadyL · 11/08/2017 12:01

Oh hello there lovely to see a familiar name!! Thought it best I jumped off that bus for now. How are you feeling now? I still can't believe it 🙈😂

charlie0692 · 11/08/2017 12:19

I have my first appointment with the midwife next Thursday, at that point I'll be 6w1d. Then we have booked a private scan for the Saturday after so will be 7w3d, hoping that I'll be far enough along at that point to see a heartbeat. Then had a letter from the hospital yesterday with a date for our 12 week scan. Everything is starting to feel so real now ☺ x

IslingtonHels · 11/08/2017 12:39

@ally62442 I think I am just over 5 weeks but should know for sure after hospital appointment. @lisara79 are you 38 years old too? It's my 38th birthday next Sunday. Thanks for your kind words. @ScarletSienna, I am wondering how much of it is shock, I would love him to change his outlook for the sake of the baby. I'll post later on how my hospital appointment goes today.

ScarletSienna · 11/08/2017 12:41

Just booked my booking in appt for the 22nd Sept as hopefully will be 9.5 weeks then.

Congrats Mrs!

ScarletSienna · 11/08/2017 12:43

Islington-good luck! Don't worry if nothing can really be seen at 5 weeks. Until 6 weeks, they could only see a yolk sack with my first.

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 12:51

So at 6 weeks did they see your daughters heartbeat then @ScarletSienna?

Think I'm going to now as well @MrsLadyL I can't believe how many BFPs that bus had! I'm feeling good. Nothing to report today symptoms wise. Have you got any?

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 12:52

@IslingtonHels if you are able to get a picture today please share it with us Smile i would love to see it. Hope it goes well!

ScarletSienna · 11/08/2017 12:54

Ally-yes at 6 weeks with an internal scan was when we saw DS's heartbeat for the first time (just went back a few years on my phone calendar as I have it all on there). It's like a flickering pixel on the screen Smile

MrsLadyL · 11/08/2017 12:55

Must be a bloody lucky bus!! No I feel okay feel slightly full but starving all the time haha x

ally62442 · 11/08/2017 12:59

I'm hungry a lot, but I'm putting that down to the fact I've been doing slimming world since January and I've fell of the rails a bit since TTC. So I've just been eating everything I haven't eaten for 6 months!

I really hope my little pips heartbeat shows when I go. Id hate to have to go again the week after. Think I would convince myself that I'd miscarried.

ScarletSienna · 11/08/2017 13:11

Early pregnancy is so hard I think in terms of anxiety and worry.

lisara79 · 11/08/2017 14:12

@islingtonhels I'm 38 on 10th September so we're very similar ages!

IslingtonHels · 11/08/2017 14:55

@lisara79 fab! I take it this isn't your first? I'm quite late for a first time Mum. Never been pregnant before so this is a whole new world. TBH I had gotten used to the idea of never having kids.

lisara79 · 11/08/2017 15:15

@islingtonhels no... my first too.... left it a bit late really lol... This isn't my first pregnancy though as lost the last one very early so counting down the days until iv e passed that date! Obvs also very nervous too

Shanners123 · 11/08/2017 18:14

@ally yes I was! Good to see you here 😀 I also found out 9dpo

@islingtonhels that's unbelievable! What a knob! You absolutely stick with your decision and don't let his insecurities influence you and drag you down. You've got us 😁 how did the hospital apt go?

I don't know who I'm meant to see or what the plan is, so starting with go on Monday and they'll hopefully point me in the right direction!

IslingtonHels · 12/08/2017 06:35

@lisara79 wow I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. My due date has been adjusted to April 14th, what's yours?
@Shanners123 ha ha that's one way of putting it. The midwife at my appointment listed my partner on the system as 'unsupportive', but I'll ask her to amend it to 'knob'. I think we may have reached a turning point though, as I walked through the door after my appointment yesterday he gave me a massive cuddle and asked if he could come to the 12 week scan. Hopefully this change of attitude will last!
The appointment at the Whittington Hospital was fab. I suffer from anxiety so rather than give me a scan at 5 weeks which might make my anxiety worse, they suggested I book in an early pregnancy scan for 7-8 weeks. My midwife is incredible and I feel very lucky to have her. The Whittington seems to be an awesome hospital, I have been offered counselling, reflexology, hypno-birthing and yoga. I am so impressed, and it has helped to reduce stress. Had my bloods taken and they even gave me gas and air as I am needle phobic. (I know, better get used to them! Confused)
Just wanted to say I am so glad I found this thread, thanks everyone! Quick q- Who is having a private early scan in London area?

lisara79 · 12/08/2017 07:00

@islingtonhels... We currently have the same due date (I guess mine may change when I see a doctor). What an amazing sounding hospital - private I assume... I'm in South Wales and even the l9xal private hospital wouldn't be offering yoga and reflexology... I lived in London for a long time (my 20s) and there are ßome things I miss - these types of services are obviously something else to add to the list. I'll be seeing my local midwife at my local GP surgery in week 7. Also glad about your partner... it is hard for them too... I haven't told mine yet (we are trying so he will be supportive) but, at the end of the day, this is important and you need to make the best decisions for you.
