Arghhh I'm really struggling with back pain, it's distracting me so much at work and hurts pretty much all the time. Been to the osteopath a few times but at £50 a session I can't keep going every week. Only 16.5 more weeks of this to go 😞

In other news I bought some Grobags in the Mothercare sale, that's as exciting as my life has been this last week! Oh and a Gro Egg 🙂

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 20:15

@NC1990 hope the pain eases for you soon, if it makes you feel any better the most exciting thing I've done this week is smooth all the cracks in the kitchen walls ready for painting.

mrsjkerry · 25/07/2017 20:17

I really don't understand this gro bag stuff. Is this what they're supposed to sleep in?

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 20:21

@mrsjkerry yes, I personally think they are safer than blankets, I've yet to buy some yet though because they confuse me. Do we need different togs, I've seen some on Asda website that don't specifically say what tog they are

NC1990 · 25/07/2017 20:29

Thanks ew1990, hope the painting goes well!

I got very confused about the whole tog thing too but the general consensus seems to be that 2.5 tog is suitable for all year round in the UK except the height of summer where a 0.5 or 1 tog might be better. 3.5 I suspect would be for when it's super cold. You can always put more or less clothes on baby to adjust accordingly, and there's a wee guide on the back of the branded Grobag packaging. Just yet another thing to think about Grin

I will need to post a more recent bump pic, but I've just demolished a mountain of Mac & cheese so perhaps later once the bloat has subsided Grin

TheLionQueen1 · 25/07/2017 20:29

They should all say what tog they are, and someone sent me the below dependant on heat. I've bought two in different togs so far but I need to check temperature in room. I've gone for the bags without arms and will just pop him in a vest and long sleeve sleep suit. It's all very confusing!

I'm not sure 2.5 tog is general is it? Its much more dangerous if baby over heats so I plan on using lower tog and layering baby! Apparently they should have one more layer than you on all the time!

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 20:35

Oh god knows what to get, I might just get 1 tog and 2.5 tog seeing as its gunna be winter when she arrives. It's confusing because of the temperature change when you've got your heating on?

NC1990 · 25/07/2017 20:46

That's why we got a Gro Egg as it changes colour depending on the temperature and is therefore easy for my simple brain to figure out!

I'm not sure Lion, on the packaging it says 2.5 is suitable all year round with temperature 16-20 degrees. Even at the moment our nursery is rarely above 20 so I think a 2.5 will do us through the winter and into spring (we're in NE Scotland so not that warm). We did get a 1.0 tog too although it does feel very thin.

Bobbiepin · 25/07/2017 20:54

I got a grosnug from mothercare and it only had two options, cosy and light. I got the cosy one as baby is due late october but I think its designed to be the only sleeping cover, so no blankets and you just adjust what the baby is wearing so they don't overheat.

Rkay2 · 25/07/2017 21:04

Hi everyone! I've been a lurker and thought I'd join and say hello.
Just found out last week. Am 5weeks and 4days approximately so very early. I am super glad that I have six weeks off being a teacher as I can feel the nausea starting.

I've been super bloated. I see some of you are further along. When did you start showing?

Rayman23456789 · 25/07/2017 21:07

Im not so sure on this i could be 1 week pregnant and i have little symptoms but the matalic taste is definitely there

TheLionQueen1 · 25/07/2017 21:07

Rkay welcome and congratulations! I was showing quite early but popped at about 23 weeks!

Rayman23456789 · 25/07/2017 21:10

Im not showing not much symptoms is that normal im only feel sick and faint oh and urinating a lot

cometogether · 25/07/2017 21:17

@Missonhartbaby thanks for your reply, good to know! You're right, I probably don't need to think about 90% of the stuff I'm thinking about yet GrinI swing between excited planning of minute detail (what will they wear on their first Christmas? Could we build them a play kitchen out of pallets?) to a feeling that I shouldn't be thinking any further ahead than tomorrow in case it doesn't work out.

ScotsLamb · 25/07/2017 21:21

cometogether you have just described my feelings perfectly. It's so strange. I go from planning the nursery with my brother asking when he can buy to me saying "argh it's too soon" and we must wait. Aren't hormones just amazing?!?

NC1990 · 25/07/2017 21:38

I still feel a bit like that sometimes, I find myself saying things like 'at my next birthday we could have a 7-month-old' rather than we WILL have a 7-month-old. Takes a lot of getting used to.

My poor dog has a really sore bum just now, not sure what's up with him. Is it wrong I'm considering using some of the freebie nappy cream I have upstairs 😬 feel a bit weird googling it!

cometogether · 25/07/2017 21:47

Scots exactly! Hormones indeed. I cried this morning because DH referred to my mum as grandma. Haven't even told her yet!

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 22:01

Girls I still feel like this at 24 weeks, we were in a hotel room a couple of week ago and other half said to me 'it won't just be us two for any longer' I honestly thought he meant the hotel was haunted or something, didn't even cross my mind that he meant there will be 3 of us.

ValentineFizz · 26/07/2017 06:57

Loving all of the bump pictures ladies, I have added mine below at 24+5 - all of the weight has gone on at the front 😄

Welcome to the new ladies ☺

I have started buying baby stuff now, have got grobag and some sleepsuits, picked the cot just need to order it and just the pram left to deal with. Also put my dates in for finishing work so the countdown is on!

lydiangel83 · 26/07/2017 07:07

Nice bump @ValentineFizz very neat :)

I also don't understand gro bags or what babies are meant to wear! Advice welcome!

I also fluctuate between just not being able to imagine having a baby and planning where we will spend Christmas (already a source of stress in my family). And then I have brief moments of sulking that we won't be going on any tropical holidays for ever a while!

ValentineFizz · 26/07/2017 07:23

Thanks @lydia 😀

I went for a 2.5 tog as it will be winter when baby arrives, will no doubt need more than one though as I'm quite sure it will be peed on, puked on and worse!

I too am struggling to believe that this is really happening - I wake up every morning and rub bump to make sure it's there and that I haven't dreamt all of this 😄 And I've already told DF that everyone can come and visit us this Christmas, as normally we do all of the running around however this year we'll be doing our own thing!

Missonhartbaby · 26/07/2017 10:32

I've got a 2.5 tog aswell as it'll be winter, I just asked the ladies in mother care, they're super helpful! I have a load of second hand grobags aswell from a friend which vary in togs so it's nice to have a choice! I think dressing babies is all about layering so you can add or take off depending in how hot cold they are. But I think in general they are more prone to overheating.
For sleeping in just going to have him in a baby grow and then his grobags I think instead of him having a lighter tog and needing more clothing on blankets... But I think you just work that out with time!

ScotsLamb · 26/07/2017 10:36

I have the picture that LionQueen posted to work out what tog gro bag to have and what baby should wear. Also hoping a kind person buys us a groegg for tenperature as we live in an old cold house!

BabyB8991 · 26/07/2017 11:40

Thank you for your encouragement @xxHappyHippyxx Flowers unfortunately, I had a miscarriage and had to have an evac procedure done. It's heartbreaking. But at the same time, it's comforting to know that it was God's plan and He knows best - His plan is perfect. My husband and I just got married recently and this was our first baby. We will try again ❤🤗

And Congratulations!! I'm sure u are eagerly awaiting your bump, just a few more weeks and you'll be showing it off! Smile Goodluck sweety
