Aw love the bumps ladies 😍

lydiangel83 · 25/07/2017 08:17

Loving the bump pics and welcome @BabyB8991 and @Bobbiepin I'll take a pic when I get out of bed - just recovering from horrible virus and back to work (from home thank goodness) today.

I love seeing what vegetable / French patisserie item/ animal/ funny object I am each week although sometimes some seem smaller than they should be e.g. Last week I was an aubergine (not that big in my mind) but previous week was a romaine cabbage and previously something else that seemed bigger than both! Good fun tho not sure on accuracy :)

lydiangel83 · 25/07/2017 08:19

Ps my bum has seriously grown as much as my bump as have my thighs. DM giving me bit of a complex as keeps telling me how fat I am all over (I'm size 10-12 maternity by the way) and grabbing bits of fat! She is a bit mental tho so trying to ignore it! I accepted a while ago that you can't control body shape in this process!

MrsBendyBaker · 25/07/2017 09:04

Hello everyone! New here and 12 weeks along. Got my first scan next week - excited but nervous!

So far, relatively low on symptoms. Have felt nauseous but only mildly so, nowhere near bad enough to actually throw up. Usually I can manage it just by eating something salty. Worst symptoms have been fatigue - usually in quite fit and active but I've had no energy and have had to cut my work hours back a bit. My boss is one of the first people I've told, as a result, and she's been very supportive.

Has anyone else after a couple of days without symptoms in their first trimester ended up convincing themselves that they must have lost the baby? No bleeding or pains, but an absence of nausea and absence of overly sensitive boobs, and I ended up convincing myself something had happened to the baby. Is this normal behaviour or am I weird?! Fingers crossed scan will go well next week and I can relax!

PS congratulations WaitingForJuly 😘

mrsjkerry · 25/07/2017 09:17

You are totally normal @MrsBendyBaker. My nausea eased off for about three days and I convinced myself baby had died. I now wish I could get a break from the sickness. I'd take the worry 😄 24+5. Vomited twice this morning 👍🏻👌🏻

Bobbiepin · 25/07/2017 10:12

MrsBendy I was exactly the same, it wasn't until my scan that I could actually believe I was pregnant. I kept thinking the midwife would send me home and tell me to stop being silly! Enjoy as much time as you can vomit free! The tiredness will get better soon.

Is anyone else having problems with sciatica? I'm usually a runner but I can barely walk at the moment 😢

mrsjkerry · 25/07/2017 10:53

I don't have sciatica but I am finding that if I run or walk a longer distance I get a pain bottom of my back/just top of my bum. I looked it up and it looks like an aggravation of the piriformis (?) muscle...

MrsBendyBaker · 25/07/2017 11:25

Ahh cheers ladies for the reassurance! Nausea and sore boobs actually came back, albeit mildly, on Sat morning and I went "yay nausea". Husband was amused, suffice to say. 🙊 I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon!

Fingers crossed scan goes well anyway - and nice to meet you all! 😘

lydiangel83 · 25/07/2017 11:28

@Bobbiepin @mrsjkerry I had inflamed sacro-illiac joint pre pregnancy and it was incredibly painful and long lasting, caused by marathon training (which I never got to do!). I'm still having physio for it as want to be getting fit post-baby. I hope your pain eases off and you find something that works for you. I've noticed my tailbone sticking out more as curved spine getting more curved during pregnancy, I can't help but think due to extra weight in that area but I don't know cause for sure!

cometogether · 25/07/2017 11:44

Hello, I found out a week ago! About 8 weeks now. I have a dull ache in stomach which comes and goes, quite mild nausea, the tiredness is frustrating.

I've been reading around on MN and searching for things but I still have some questions. Maternity bras - why would you need a specific bra? Also. If the baby is sleeping in our room for the first six months, they will need something to sleep in. What should that be? Is there any reason why (please do not flame me) they can't sleep in a normal basket?

Lastly. Breast pads. I guess they go inside the bra. If so, do you have to make sure the bra is big enough to encompass the pad - so take a pad with you to try the bras on? Do you just whip it out when breastfeeding? Do you replace them between each feed?

Missonhartbaby · 25/07/2017 11:53

Hi @cometogether - maternity bras are generally just non underwired and have slightly larger cups to accommodate growing sizes etc. I only got some because my boobs were so painful in the first trimester that I needed something as comfy as possible and wearing underwired bras was excruciating! If you don't need them though, don't waste your money! Also crop tops, sleep bras are good for when you need comfort and don't cost the earth!
I imagine breast pads would fit in any bra easily enough, they aren't that big so I wouldn't worry about it. And just change when you feel they need it, a couple times a day I would guess but I think it's all just seeing how it goes. I wouldn't worry about it now!
And also congrats!! Smile

Missonhartbaby · 25/07/2017 11:54

28 weeks is apparently a coconut?! Who knew!! Haha
Also @ew your bump is super neat!

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 12:30

@Missonhartbaby it feel really big to me lately.

xxHappyHippyxx · 25/07/2017 12:50

Hello everyone, I'm so looking forward to having a bump to show off!! I'm 9 weeks this week with my first, and so far all I have to show for it is boobs lol I feel like my belly has grown slightly but so far I think that's just extra fat from eating constantly 😂

@BabyB8991 I had this at 7wks and they had to check whether cervix was open at all - basically same process as having a smear. It wasn't open, but they still considered it threatened even though they said sometimes it just happens. They had no other explanation for bleeding, then I had a scan next day and saw a tiny heartbeat and bleeding had stopped so I think it will remain a mystery! That's probably not very helpful, but try not to worry! Bleeding is apparently very common early on.. Hope your appt goes well! 🤞

Bobbiepin · 25/07/2017 14:43

Lydi is the physio working for you? My midwife suggested it but sorta said it in the way that made me think that nothing will really help until the baby is born. I ran a 10km the weekend I found out but then morning sickness took hold and I could barely get out of bed. Did a really slow parkrun when that eased off bit then couldn't walk for the rest of the day I was in so much pain. I want to be as active as I can as quickly as possible after the birth but right now walking up the stairs is sometimes enough to have me in tears.

WaitingTillJuly17 · 25/07/2017 15:37

Got my booking appointment booked today, the midwife is full when I'm 8 weeks so I'll get to go a week early, yay!

mrsjkerry · 25/07/2017 15:57

@Bobbiepin i can't run very far at all now. Like you i used to do 10km at the weekend. I think 5 could kill me now...so I break it up now. 3km most days and a lot lot lot lot slower than I would normally.

OP posts:
lydiangel83 · 25/07/2017 16:10

@Bobbiepin yes I am finding physio helpful as one side tighter than the other. I'm v impressed that you and @mrsjkerry are still running - haven't done any running since about wk 10 when a short run made my belly muscles hurt :-/

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 16:25

I'm impressed that you ladies were running before pregnancy! 😂 I've always been crap at exercise, although after babies born in going to have to do something, I walk all day at work but i get out of breath really easily. Always said I'd start jogging but never did

lydiangel83 · 25/07/2017 18:17

Sorry @Bobbiepin just realised you aren't still running :( def get physio on NHS you'll have to wait ages for it any but worth a shot. I waited 9 wks

Bobbiepin · 25/07/2017 18:40

Lydi i'll give it a go. Do I just make an appointment with my GP and ask for it?

Ew I was the same a couple of years ago, regularly used to say the only thing I run for is food! A friend got me to do a parkrun and I never looked back. I've always struggled with bad PMS and I'm crap at managing stress but running really help (ed) me clear my head.

ew1990 · 25/07/2017 19:00

@Bobbiepin it's on my to do list once baby is here, there's like a grassy dirt track facing my house so I could start there I suppose ten minutes a day, quite a few people run there.
