I'm 29+4 today and woke up yesterday to a different shape bump! He must have moved around! He's incredibly wriggly!

Also my belly button is gross!! It's pretty much popped out now but is hanging on in there!

Icantthinkofastupidname · 29/07/2017 10:10

Those of you who are a bit further on (only 14w5d here), when did you start shopping?

I'm constantly battling with myself between knowing it's too early to start incase anything goes wrong before 20w scan but also wanting to be able to be prepared and not have to do a load of spending in a short amount of time in the cold dark winter nights!

Also, any recommendations? We are SO LUCKY in that MIL is gifting us £1000 for baby stuff. No idea where to start with good quality prams, although I know I want one that's good on uneven ground as we live opposite a huge park and think we will spend a lot of time walking round there! Also plan on getting a snuzpod as I will be hoping to BF so that'll make things easier in the night for the 1st 6m or so!

TheLionQueen1 · 29/07/2017 10:15

I started buying after 12 week scan but just the smaller things, from about 20 weeks I bought things like cot, changing table and pram etc, we've not got much left to get now!

I had a snuz pod, we were lucky as have picked up a second hand one in fab condition for £80 as they are really expensive! I only plan on having him in it for about 6 weeks then into his cot in the nursery!

Bobbiepin · 29/07/2017 14:16

Started buying little things if I saw things that were reasonable from about 16 weeks I think. There was no particular date I was waiting for but I saw a 3 pack on baby grows half price and it went from there. In terms of the bigger stuff, we got a car seat and pram at I think 22 weeks, went to one of those mothercare expectant parent events to get the discount. Wasn't intending to get that much but it just sorta happened! They are definitely worth going to for the discounts. I'm 27 weeks now and we've just started looking at nursery furniture although that's because we wanted to change the carpet in the nursery before we bought stuff.

NC1990 · 29/07/2017 14:59

I bought a few bits of clothing after finding out the sex at 16 weeks, then bought the car seat and base at a Mothercare event to get the discount. For prams we just went wild test-driving them and I watched loads of YouTube reviews! We have gone for the iCandy Orange as seemed practical for what we wanted.

We have a Snuzpod too, not taken it out of the box yet though! We bought it with a Mothercare discount code so saved a bit of money which always helps. Also just ordered our cot as it went into the sale. I have been really good at picking things up in sales so always worth keeping an eye out.

Icantthinkofastupidname · 29/07/2017 15:41

We're booked on the mothercare expectant parent event on 20th August, so hoping to get snuzpod then and test drive some prams. Saw what looked like a good deal in one of the bounty email offers, but it's ended now, was a mamas and papas bundle inc pram, car seat & base, bouncy chair and play mat. So hoping something similar to that will come up again once we have test driven some and found some we like. I definitely need one with adjustable handles, as I'm only 5ft

Squigglefish · 29/07/2017 17:00

Does anyone else feel like crap? Im feeling a bit depressed, very lethargic and I've got loads of aches and pains in my pelvis. Was lying on the sofa earlier and I'm not sure what the baby did to my bladder but I thought I was going to pre myself for a second. I struggle going upstairs ☹
Work has been insanely stressful too with people on the sick, I'm not sympathetic and keep thinking 'it's ok the pregnant will cope, don't any of you worry about me'. Roll on maternity leave. I feel really down because I wanted to enjoy being pregnant and lately I haven't been able to. Its probably all hormones and tiredness talking

Squigglefish · 29/07/2017 17:08

Icantthinkofastupidname We are going for the bugaboo buffalo for the off road wheels, we live down a bumpy country lane. It's the perfect height for me (im 5ft1!) It's really light and easy to manoeuvre. Going to order it at the mothercare event coming up :)

mrsjkerry · 29/07/2017 17:42

I am going to a mothercare event in a few weeks. What discount am I likely to get on a pram??

OP posts:
Squigglefish · 29/07/2017 18:15

You get a 10% off voucher so that's quite good discount. The sales advisor told me to wait and use that to get money off our pram.

mrsjkerry · 29/07/2017 19:03

Oh cool. 10% off anything? Can it only be used once on one thing or a whole transaction..?

OP posts:
Missonhartbaby · 29/07/2017 19:35

Yea you get two 10% off vouchers, obviously can only use one at a time but you can use it for a whole transaction, so if you know you want a few things def get them then! And also you can use the 10% off items that are a promotion aswell. So say they have an offer on for a cot and changing table for a lower price than them separately you still get 10% off that which is good! (I only know a this as I worked as a photographer in mothercare and little while back!)

NutCase82 · 29/07/2017 20:13

Hi I'm new on here, and probably a bit late joining as I'm 32 weeks!!

ew1990 · 29/07/2017 20:56

Welcome @NutCase82, not long left for you now then x

ew1990 · 29/07/2017 21:28

Oh I weighed myself at work today, pre pregnancy was 8stone 2 - current weight 10stone 1 Confused

ScotsLamb · 29/07/2017 22:03

I was 10 stone 7 at booking in and I'm now 10 stone 4. My lowest while pregnant was 9 stone 13 at 13 weeks.
I'm yo-yoing all over the place. As long as your midwife isn't bothered then don't worry. You are growing a human!!

meltingmarshmallows · 29/07/2017 22:06

I'm 24 weeks & feeling huge! Aching bump whenever I walk a few feet is my current annoyance, hoping it passes soon!

meltingmarshmallows · 29/07/2017 22:11

Lady in Mothercare said they're the only supplier who can give a discount on Bugaboos, not sure if that's correct but will be going to the event to use the 10% off that. Mamas & Papas also do a similar discount although you get an additional 10% for every £1000 spent. You have to use their personal shopping consultation for that rather than an event. But could be useful for anyone getting large items from there like furniture or prams x

MSH2010 · 29/07/2017 22:22

5 loads of baby clothes bedding and blankets done today. I can finally pack my hospital bag this week!!! 7 weeks to go 🙈🙈 still don't feel ready 😓

lydiangel83 · 29/07/2017 23:02

What is a snuzpod?! I'm 26+4 and not bought much at all. Going to a mothercare event in August so hopefully will get pram and cot then. What does baby first sleep in when they come home? Moses basket type thing?

ValentineFizz · 29/07/2017 23:06

@squigglefish I've been feeling exactly like that for the last 2 days, full of random aches, easily irritated, emotional and just miserable really! 😢 I've also had a couple of really intense weeks at work and think I'm just exhausted..... 😴 25+2 today

On the plus side, I am off work this week and going away for a couple of days so will hopefully come back refreshed and recharged 😃 Hope you start to feel a wee bit better soon. X

TheLionQueen1 · 29/07/2017 23:18

Lydia, a snuzpod is a crib that can be attached to the side of the bed and the sides zip down so easy to roll baby out for those night feeds! I've bought that for the first 6 weeks of so when I plan on breast feeding through the night then I've just bought an IKEA cot for the nursery. Also buying a Moses basket for downstairs naps!

Bobbiepin · 30/07/2017 00:14

I know babies get more active at night when you are still and resting but she's been kicking away for hours. Its lovely to feel her but I'm desperate for some sleep!

THirdEeye · 30/07/2017 09:01

I've only just started buying things in the last few weeks. I have a list though, so know what we're buying Smile.

How is everyone sleeping?

In the first trimester it was awful and now it seems I'm waking numerous times a night or getting up incredibly early.

As anyone booked into those antenatal courses yet....we haven't and I'm starting to panic that I know nothing about newborns/feeding...ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

NC1990 · 30/07/2017 10:04

I'm sleeping absolutely crap THirdEeye, between the horrendous back pain and needing to wee every hour I never wake up feeling refreshed. Had to go downstairs and nudge my poor dog the other night because his snoring was driving me bonkers (it's that loud). My husband sleeps a solid 9 hours without waking and it makes me want to kill him a little bit when he says he could 'really go a nap today' 😡

My midwife booked my antenatal classes for me at my 24-week appointment, we're just doing the NHS ones. Also booked for a 'relaxation class' at our nearest hospital, feel like I need it!!
