Child tax credit is it true ?

Iv seen people sharing things about no money will be giving to families that are expecting there 3rd child after today does anybody know if this is true ?? I understand price cuts to help but i dnt see how me and my kids are going to suvive on the money i get wen my baby is here we only jst manage now :(

Unfortunately yes, it is true.
You will still get child benefit for the third child but no extra child tax credit.

This is ridiculous i dont find it fair at all that means my new baby will be living off 12 a week dont see how this is going to be possible

It has been fairly well publicised for a long time.
I hope you're registered to vote and will use your vote at the next general election.

Yes it is true, tax credits will be capped at 2 children.

How stuck for money will you be? Is there anyway you can cut back on anything now so you can put some extra money aside for when baby is first here?

There's some really good budgeting threads on here, and a lot advise writing down everything you spend to see where you may be able to cut back.

It has been common knowledge for over the last 18 months atleast. You will still get child benefit towards your baby.

I wouldn't say it's common knowledge. The government has made loads of benefit cuts over quite a short period of time. I work in welfare rights and follow the news quite closely. I still sometimes find myself surprised by a benefit change I didn't see coming.

OP: Its worth noting that the 2 child policy applies to Child Tax Credit but not Working Tax Credit.
So, should you return to work, you will still be able to get child care costs for all three children.
For some people it might be worth taking their benefits in the form of a childcare subsidy rather than as living expenses for each child.

Are you for real? This has been a well known thing for ages, well before you will have conceived your 3rd child. If you can't afford a 3rd child without the government paying for them why did you not take better precautions . I'm not saying people on benefits shouldn't have children but if you can barely afford the ones you have don't have more!

Think people can be a bit judgmental and nasty on here sometimes! No one knows anything to do with this lady, people need to think before they speak in my opinion. I had no idea about this cap until a couple of weeks ago! I don't claim any benefits as we're lucky enough to have good jobs but some people do and shouldn't be judged when no one knows there circumstances!

I don't know her circumstances but I do know if I couldn't afford the children I already had I'd be being very careful not to conceive again. I think the cap is very good, anyone who says it isn't is being unreasonable IMO. They aren't taking away from those already claiming and the information has been out there ages. I think there will be a lot less 'accidents' now

Nope, your baby will be living off your families, whether yours or your partners, earnings. The 12 pound you will receive is to help a little. Why should the government and all those paying into the system pay for your children?

Sorry to rant but its hit a nerve this thread. We've recently had our third, we won't be having more and one off the main reasons is financial. We can afford the children we have but any more would be a strain, so we won't have more. I'd love to have around six children but dh already works every hour god sends so we can pay for our family

But op has just explained her circumstances; she got pregnant for the third time despite being barely able to cope financially right now, but didn't see a problem because she assumed she would get extra benefits when she had the third child.

Tbf in a previous post she says she fell pg on the coil.

This cut is going to affect the poorest children and unfortunately doesn't address the societal reasons behind people in poverty having multiple children.

I'm sorry if this is an unpopular opinion but you should not be relying on state handouts to raise your children. Harsh but true. My DH and I have two children. We both work in decent jobs (me part-time) and are not entitled to tax credits. We have had to bring our children up on the money we earn and also find the money to send them to nursery 3 days a week. Yes it's very tough and that is why we would not have another child; we simply couldn't afford it.
