hi paula - nice to see you here. i am glad that spook i sgonna meet up with you but we should be having a glagow meeting vry soon as well - i hope you would come to that. i am from irealdn so my folks are far away. it can be hard to cope withut them and you also seem to have a hell of alot to deal with. like caz - you need to get the right kind of support.

talkin gof which - we were down at the winter palace today - v v lovely. we were thinking of it for a naming ceremony but- they only rent out at night. any suggestions for a lovely/unusual/ different venue in glasgow??

TALLULAHBELLE · 07/10/2007 17:25

Hi all,
Sorry not been on - broke my finger. Was kidnapped rescued by my folks cos couldn't really manage with E for first few days. Home now & back online but tricky typing with one hand & feeding the baby. Fly out on 22nd Oct so go ahead without me for meetup as doesn't look likely b4 then. For what its worth - find Montgomerys v friendly if in with one pram not sure there's room for a whole squad of buggies, Loft does have loads of space but take yr point WO about food, have heard firebird good but not been there with LO yet & of course Kelvingrove's got Kylie's hotpants at mo if u really want to get depressed about baby bulge! Hope you enjoy wherever you end up.

TALLULAHSPELL · 08/10/2007 12:27

HA - Just figured the spook / potion references. Bit slow me!

I would be up for a meet up at the end of the month. Thurs the 25th would be fine or the afternoon of Friday the 26th.

Ds'sleeping is just getting worse and worse! I think he's teething at the moment so I'm praying that it will get better!

Stefka · 08/10/2007 19:38

Hello all - geordiemacmummy told me about this thread so I thought I would say a wee hi. I am due on Sunday so not too long to go now. I am based in Falkirk

spookthief · 08/10/2007 19:42

Hello! Labour vibes for you for Sunday then...

I still weirdly keep thinking ds's birthday is his due date (he's not one yet so I have a bit of an excuse ) as it was so fixed in my mind. He didn't appear until 10 days later but it was worth it! Hopefully you won't have to wait though.

spookthief · 08/10/2007 19:45

Trixy - grrrrrr at teething. Ds has horrendous nappy rash because of it at the moment plus intermittent red cheek, screaming and not going to sleep. I feel for you. I think we're in for the long haul with this tooth as well as there's no sign of it

Wouldn't it be great if they could get it all over with in a weekend?

midnightexpressmwahaha · 08/10/2007 20:03

Hi all - sorry to hear about your finger Tallulah - hope it's getting better. We've all been down with colds (while dp was away, natch)and I also had a loverly tummy bug, but all better now.

Trix - reached end of my tether with the crap sleeping when I was ill last week so tried to go for the night-weaning last night for the first time - abject failure. Fed him at about 10 then dp went in and I retired to the sofa bed. 11.30, ds2 woke up and SCREAMED for 2 solid hours until DP cracked and I went in and fed him. He conked out but then was up at 3.30 and 5.30. . And then to cap it all he hasn't napped all day today execept about 10 mins in his buggy this morning. Poor thing has just collapsed in a heap. Bless. Don't know if I've got the heart to go through it all again tonight. He's just started crawling, so we live in the hope that he might just wear himself out one of these days!

Hi to the newbies too and good thoughts for stefka for labour in the near future - hope to see you all at the next meetup. . How about we go for Thurs 25th am at Kelvingrove?

midnightexpressmwahaha · 09/10/2007 13:10

BTW, Geordie, when did you stop being a minx and start being a mummy? Was it when DS was born? I didn't realise you'd changed your name.

geordiemacmummy · 09/10/2007 15:11

changed it for halloween... but reckon its more apt... certainly more mummy than minx these days

trixyortreatmalixy · 09/10/2007 16:53

Whoever it is that says that teething doesn't hurt babies has obviously never had children. DS was up from 2 till 5 last night when I decided I'd had enough and gave him some medised, bad mummy!!

Midnight - I haven't attempted any kind of night weaning yet, but I don't know how much more of this I can take, so I totally sympathise.

Any of you water babies going to the photo session. I left it really late so it's all booked up, but I'm first on the reserve list so hopefully will get a place.

geordiemacmummy · 09/10/2007 17:21

C cut his two with hardly any problems,..... but he is hard as nail

We started weaning a few weeks back, he's now on 3 meals, 4 bf and 1 ff a day... little bloater... he really ewnjoys porridge with pureed fruit and such like, also give him bits of our tuff to chop on if wev are eating...

We didnt go for the photo session - had one done at mothercare last month and ending up spending £200 on pics so really couldnt justify it - thought £45 just to take the pics was a bit steep.... also a friend of WO's said that they only get 3 attempts at going under then thats it...

trixyortreatmalixy · 09/10/2007 17:35

Geordie babies must be much tougher than soft Weegie babies .

Just cheered myself up by booking flights to Spain with my Mum and Dad at the end of the month for 1p!!!

geordiemacmummy · 09/10/2007 18:53

Ooooo where did you get the flights from?

trixyortreatmalixy · 09/10/2007 19:55

Ryanair, It's costing more for Ben to go than it is for me!!

liath · 09/10/2007 20:46

Might be able to venture across to the Weeg on 25th - is the Kelvingrove near the train station?

Ds up last night at 8pm, midnight, 5am, 6am - grrr. Yet some nights he can go through to 5am.....which is worse in a way becuase then I know he CAN do it, he just WON'T. Are the non-sleepers on this thread all boys?

weepotion · 09/10/2007 22:31

liath - this non sleeper is a wee lady - she is up for a feed somewhere between 10.30 - 12.30pm and again around 3am.

midnightexpressmwahaha · 10/10/2007 09:36

kelvingrove not really near the station - maybe the winter gardens at the people's palace would be better if people are coming through from embru? You could just about walk there from central, couldn't you?

gmm - woke up in the middle of the night and I swear you could hear the penny dropping as I finally understood what mummies have got to do with halloween. My brain is so scrambled these days

trixyortreatmalixy · 10/10/2007 21:03

WO - what's the name of the baby gym class that you take C to?

bumble75 · 10/10/2007 21:34

25th or 26th is good for me to meet up, would be good to see everyone before Christmas. GMM, I'll be in Aus as well in Dec so will miss the Christmas meet up - boo. As much as I am counting the days till I get on the plane, I do love Edinburgh in December.

Fun & games in the bumble house since Sunday - I've been attempting to give L a bottle to start gradually weaning her off the boob. She has had bottles before no problems but now she is screaming down the house and giving me her best 'why are you doing this to me mean mummy?' look and quivering lip. Result - traumatised Mummy and bubba.

As much as I would love the water babies underwater shot, we've decided not to. Can't really justify spending the money and not being guaranteed a shot (I would take the chance but dh would not be happy!). GMM - were you happy with the Mothercare pics? Am thinking of taking L to the one in Edinburgh.

geordiemacmummy · 10/10/2007 22:01

Bumble- I will email you a couple of the pics that they took - they are just me taking pics of the pics if that makes sense but they are great - ended up spending £200 mind, but got 2 poster sized ones, one about 80cmx20 and 5 A4 sized ones?

Beanstermummy · 11/10/2007 17:38

Hi Guys.

Can I join please? Only just found this thread - currenlty 33 wks with No. 2 EDD 30th Nov with DD 2yrs 4 mths. Noticed TheLady from the due in Dec thread - hello. I'm in the Stirling area - any once else in the sticks up here not in the cosmo bussle of the big cities?

Anyone any experience with SRI for giving birth - due to CS last time they won't let me have home birth and am rather disillusioned about the whole team midwives etc at the mo.

Speak soon and hello to you all

liath · 11/10/2007 19:19

Hi Beanstermummy .

LOL, Bumble - they really have a way fo making you feel baaaad mummy don't they?

Please don't change the venue - I'd only make it if the wind was behind me anyway. Maybe the Kelvingrove is easy to get to off the M8 .

Starting solids tomorrow - maybe that'll sort the sleep out.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!

If only.....!

midnightexpressmwahaha · 11/10/2007 19:55

Hiya beanster! I'm going to be visiting a pal in Stirling on Monday who had both hers at the SRI (I think) - will ask for any information if you like.

Liath, I will resist the urge to laugh in a hollow kind of a way at the notion that solids will sort out your LO's sleep probs. I was counting on crawling, once solids didn't work, but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick either. School, maybe? Or puberty?
