Hello Beanstermummy!

weepotion · 11/10/2007 22:34

hi there folks! good evening to you all and hi beanster!

are we going to go for the 25th? does kelvingrove or winterpalace suit better?

i have to ask a hug favour. i have been aske to be in a new dvd about breastfeeding. it will be a resource used in antenatal settings. they are following me for a few days over the coming months and have asked if they can come with me on that day.it will be a couple of women and none of you would have to be present on the dvd if they didnt want to. they would be filming caoimhe and myself - more like a fly on the wall. i will understand if people woild rather they werent there. please please be honest and let me know.
x

also - the infant feeding stratgey is out for consultaion. i know some of you were interested in meeting up to respond to it. any takers???

spookthief · 11/10/2007 22:40

25th is good for me. Kelvingrove is my preference obv but Winter Palace is fine too. (Liath, I can post directions to KG from the M8 if we end up there).

WO - I'd still be interested in commenting on the IFS. I meant to look it up but couldn't see it on the NHSGG&C site. Can you link?

geordiemacmummy · 12/10/2007 08:26

Fine by me WO - Both the day and the filiming...

midnightexpressmwahaha · 12/10/2007 08:32

All fine by me WO and yes, would be happy to meet up to discuss the bf initiative.

BTW, did you find anywhere for your naming ceremony? I wondered if Pollok House might be a possibility? I know they do weddings there, so they might do something like that too. The gardens are really lovely - I spend hours pootling around in the park with the boys and the trees are looking really gorgeous at the moment.

TALLULAHSPELL · 12/10/2007 09:34

Would be up for IFS discussion but not got many free days before i go. will come along if i can.

weepotion · 12/10/2007 10:29

clu · 12/10/2007 22:24

Hi
Just found this site and thread, I live in Anniesland and am due Nov 8th in QM. Am on pelvic rest due to placenta previa so am so bored but desperate to meet my baby! Look forwrd to talking with you all.

spookthief · 12/10/2007 22:33

Hi clu. Very excited for you! Twelve months ago I was champing at the bit for my due date to arrive (7th Nov) and gave birth (10 days late as it happened but hey ho) at the QMH. I had a really good experience there and all the staff were lovely.

Presumably the pp means that your lo will definitely be making an appearance by your due date?

clu · 12/10/2007 22:50

Hi Im getting scanned on Wednesday to see if it has moved, perhaps a decision then . After all this stress, sods law it will move just enough then I will have a natural labour and end up being induced! Had my self geared up for a section but Im trying to go with the flow . Think I am driving everyone around me crazy.

spookthief · 12/10/2007 23:10

The waiting is haaaaard isn't it. Especially when you don't know what's going to happen or when. I can see the attraction of an elective section from that point of view.

FWIW, I was really nervous about be induced but it all worked out fine. Going with the flow is a good plan if you can manage it.

Have fun getting another sneak preview on Wednesday though! Hope it all works out fabulously in the end however they make their appearance.

I'll have been back at work for 3 days on your due date. Where's the time gone?

spookthief · 13/10/2007 00:09

Thanks for the link WO - v interesting reading.

P6: "Each year a significant number of children show evidence of rickets in Glasgow & Clyde"

clu · 13/10/2007 12:56

Ooh how do you feel about going back to work? Got childcare sorted you are happy with?

I had thought about asking for an elective section just to make a decision, through all this oohing and aahing but it did feel a bit like cheating.

spookthief · 13/10/2007 21:40

I'm okayish about going back. Just 3 days a week so the balance is hopefully going to be ok.

Ds is going to nursery. Big wobbles about that but he's a sociable wee thing and fingers crossed he'll enjoy it. The place looks nice and the staff seem lovely.

Dalrymps · 14/10/2007 09:39

Hey there, was looking for people from berwick upon tweed when a couple of you guys said to come join this thread so here i am! I'm preggers with my first baby, a boy, due 16th Oct, this tues!!!
he's a bit small, got a 2nd growth scan on wed, the day after my due date, if i make it that far to check his size again, expected to be 6lb+ so not that small.
I'll have to travel an hour to wansbeck hosp to give birth cause they think he's more likely to become distressed from labour with him being wee... that should be a fun journey, hope my dh can manage to keep his eyes on the road!

thelady · 14/10/2007 11:04

Hello Dalrymps. I'm in Jedburgh, so not too far from you.

My mw said that the growth scan can be out by 2lb in either direction, so hopefully your wee one is just fine.

Loulee · 14/10/2007 20:25

hi dalrymps! mine were out by miles too. with dd1 i had loads of extra growth scans cos she was supposedly too small. she was 7lb, 11oz! I'm sure youe little one will be just fine.

ps32 · 14/10/2007 20:44

hi all how is every1

Dalrymps · 14/10/2007 22:53

Hey there, yeah, i feel myself that he's gonna fine, guess they're just doing their job but none of the methods they have for measuring the size seem to be that accurate anyway.. as you found out!
Had a tour of wansbeck delivery suite today to familiarise myself with it so at least i know what it looks like now and i'll know where to go when i get there, we did take the totally wrong turn on the way back though and get totally lost, took us 2 hours to get back to berwick when it usually takes 1 hour, ah well at least we now definately know whaich is the right way after working out where we went wrong so we shouldn't get lost when i have to go to give birth! managed to get a good nursing bra at bravissimo in newcastle too so thats one less thing to do, if it fits ok when my milk comes in i'll order some more online but just got one for now to be going on with.
Anyway hope everyone else is doing well, i'm knackered from all the walking and travelling so just gonna sit and do nothing now

midnightexpressmwahaha · 15/10/2007 08:34

Make the most of it Dalrymps while you still can

TrixyTrixyTrixy must tell you - reached the end of my tether on Friday night after DS2 fedandfedandfed for about 3 hours (not really feeding), so decided to get tough. Two fairly hellish nights Friday and Saturday, and then last night he went down at 8 and slept until...

3am
when I went in and stroked his back and he fell asleep again! We agreed that I'd feed him after 4, as ds1 likely to be difficult to get back to sleep if he got woken up after then, so I fed him at 4.30, but think he'd have gone back to sleep. After his feed, he went back to sleep until I woke him at

7.30.

Am not quite counting my chickens yet, as he was really tired after the previous 2 nights, but at least we know he can do it now. Sooo relieved. Needless to say, DP and I were wide awake most of the night...

weepotion · 15/10/2007 09:57

midnight - great news. hope it goes well tonight. x

TALLULAHSPELL · 15/10/2007 12:39

Experienced mummies - any tips on weaning/ anyone wean 'early '? Not sure what's going on with my DD.

Midnight/Trixy look away now.

She has been sleeping thru (8:30/9 till 7/8ish) for weeks on end. Just started waking earlier 5/6 ish last week & last night woke @ 3:30 for feed then up @ 7:30. Was defo hungry - fed like a wee demon. Wasn't thinking of starting weaning her for ages yet -just 17 weeks now- & really wanted to go the BLW route but can't bear to go back to night feeds.

trixyortreatmalixy · 15/10/2007 15:16

Hello to all the new bumps on the thread ,

Tallullah - my tip on weaning is to leave it as long as possible, it is such a faff I hate it, it's sh*te! It's so much easier and cleaner just to feed them milk.

My DS went through growth spurts at about 16 and 20 weeks and I considered weaning, but then things got better and I'm so glad I waited.

Midnight - fingers crossed this is it for you!!!

We've had a few false hopes, he slept through the night before his christening and like you, I was awake all night!! he didn't repeat it though .

WO - what baby gym class do you go to with C?

trixyortreatmalixy · 15/10/2007 15:20

Oh forgot to ask Midnight - what did you do on the Friday and Saturday nights to get him back to sleep?
