Anyone who is similar please come and join, I want to complain and not be told he'll come when he's ready Sad I know that that is the case but I can't have it repeated to me any more than what I've already heard it, mainly by the annoying fuckers who text me and ask if the baby is here yet!

I went to the midwife for a sweep at bang on 40 weeks but she couldn't do it because he wasn't engaged enough so I can't try again until Thursday which is pushing it too close to Christmas Day Angry And I had £50 worth of acupuncture yesterday and he's still as high as he was 6 weeks ago.

I'm sorry for the moan but I'm so fucked off, I just don't want him to have a birthday any closer to Christmas than what he has to Sad

If anyone was barely engaged with not even a hint of a show but suddenly dropped and went in to labour, now is the time to share your stories!

I had a pessary with my eldest. It's a gel caplet they insert up around the cervix which should stimulate contractions. I got to a 3 then the midwife broke my waters. That was all I needed and had DD 4 hours later. Not bad at all. :)

StubbleTurnips · 28/12/2016 13:38

I had the tampon style pessary last time, and expecting too this time.

They did a sweep, inserted pessary and I had to lie still for an hour after. First one did nothing, second one sent me to hyperstimulation and needed removal. It was to ripen my cervix more than anything so I could have ARM / the drip. Which were the next 2 interventions for me with DD!

Kione · 28/12/2016 13:45

Thanks for the replies! Serial that sounds ideal...
See I don't know if my cervix is ripe or what, I had no checks. I guess they will check tonight first!

PeachBellini123 · 28/12/2016 18:07

Good luck Kione.

Well due date today and had a sweep earlier. Can't say it was enjoyable but really wasn't as bad I expected. She said my cervix was pretty closed though and apart from light bleeding no signs of labour Sad

I've been booked in for another sweep next week, then if that doesn't work they will book me in for induction.

Fingers crossed baby comes before that though!

Things progressed very rapidly after posting at 630am yesterday my little boy was born at 955am later that morning! We nearly didn't get to the hospital in time but thankfully we did as he went into distress and had to have oxygen at birth.

Unfortunately later on he developed rapid breathing and we are now in the NICU as he has a suspected infection. He's responding well to treatment and feeding well though.

I'm a bit shocked and battered and bruised, only small tear though.

Kione · 28/12/2016 18:44

Congratulations Tilly!
I hope you both recover well

Kione · 28/12/2016 18:46

Thank you Peach I am getting a bit scared now

mummyplus7 · 28/12/2016 18:49

Thoughts to all the women who are waiting.
I'm only twenty weeks or so gone but this is my eighth child and I know vividly just how uncomfortable and miserable late term pregnancy can be.

The worst bit is when you have one baby arrive early- like at 38 weeks- and then the next one goes to 42. It feels like torture.

I think it also makes it worse because you get nervous about the impending birth, just like you would about going in for an operation. Difference is you have no idea when it is actually going to happen!

PeachBellini123 · 28/12/2016 19:38

Best wishes to you and your little one Tilly Flowers

Anything happening Kione?

Wow Mommy - 8th baby! Congratulations. And yes that's how I feel: fed up and uncomfortable but nervous about coping with labour.

Midwife said I was a bit quiet and less chatty after the sweep. I felt like saying 'yes that's due to having a stranger rummaging around inside me!' Hmm

Tinyhumanjan17 · 29/12/2016 02:48

Had a sweep today... Mw didn't seem too confident, said my internal os is still closed but managed to get a finger round the external one. My notes say my Bishops score thing is 2. Had a tiny smear of bloody/hunky crap on a tissue on first wee after the sweep but nothing at all since except for the occasional pressure in my bum. Booked in for another one next Tuesday and if that doesn't work have a consultant appt to book induction the Tuesday after. I know it's not really long away in the grand scheme of things but it really feels like forever away...

PeachBellini123 · 29/12/2016 03:17

How many weeks are you Tiny?

Awake after a couple of hours sleep. Really feeling fed up.

Tinyhumanjan17 · 29/12/2016 03:32

I'm almost 39w peach. I know the awake feeling well lately... Only seem to be able to get any decent sleep napping during the day!!

Has your sweep yesterday done anything?

SerialReJoiner · 29/12/2016 05:03

Oh hey, I'm awake too. Cake

I have decided that if baby doesn't want to come out on his own within the next week or so, I'll be booking myself in for an elcs. I have already had an emcs with a previous pregnancy, so the risks of scar rupture are higher with an induction. Deciding my baby's birth date is kind of a weird thought. The OB already agreed to sterilisation while he's up in there so it will be good to get that taken care of as well.

All of this is moot if I go into labour on my own, but at 40+2 I feel very fed up and unsure right now.

Kione · 29/12/2016 07:52

Well I got to hospital and an hour later when the Dr came they said the midwife this morning must have gotten confused as I shouldn't have been booked for an induction at this point. They gave me a sweep and sent home. I was in quite a lot of pain after but I slept decently.
Now I have lost quite a lot of mucus but nothing else.
Next induction appointment 1st of January.

PeachBellini123 · 29/12/2016 07:52

Sweep's not had any effect so far.

Going to do lots of walking today....and maybe have a curry!

Elland · 29/12/2016 09:25

Congratulations Tilly

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for your baby! Hope you're doing well Flowers

PeachBellini123 · 29/12/2016 11:22

Well I'll be happy for baby to wait a few days now. On anti biotics for a chest infection and would rather wait for this to clear before going in to labour...didn't think I'd be saying that a week ago.

StubbleTurnips · 29/12/2016 20:38

Evening all,
Turnip2 arrived late this afternoon, ended up being induced yesterday. Arrived after an hour of active labour in the birthing pool Confused
Absolute whopper at 9lb 15!

Tinyhumanjan17 · 29/12/2016 20:51

My word what a weight!!! Congratulations xx

Elland · 29/12/2016 20:54

Congratulations! x

Kione · 30/12/2016 09:05

Woke up today totally fresh! Hasn't happened in a while! I am shocked, very little pain and feeling "lighter". Headache still there since yesterday but that's the only thing. I might venture into town with DD!
