Welcome and congrats miami!!

I'm off to my booking appointment now and then have early scan booked for tonight, so nervous. I really hope everything is ok. I feel like i should be excited for it but just can't wait to get the scan over and done with.

LynseyH · 31/10/2016 18:56

Hope all goes well moonlight
I went to hospital as I'd not felt baby for a few too many hours today, thankfully and typically, the minute they started prodding, she woke up.
I'd literally tried everything beforehand and couldn't get a single kick, so scary and nerve wracking. Roll on February.

Welcome Miami congratulations.

Hope all is well moonlight, been thinking of you!

Lynsey I'm glad you got checked out and all is well. I've been having the same thing, I worked myself up into a right state yesterday because I hadn't felt much on Saturday and nothing yesterday morning. I thought it would get easier from now but it doesn't does it?!

jpeg28 · 31/10/2016 19:29

Hope scan goes well Moonlight.

I have a banging headache tonight, drunk tons of water today but it's still really bad... haven't had headaches in pregnancy so far... any tips to get rid of it would be great!

Naschkatze · 31/10/2016 19:41

Jpeg have you recently had the flu jab? I had the worst headache in the days after mine and am convinced it was linked. Like you have had no headaches since I've been pregnant.
Not great advice but keeping a hot flannel on it helped a bit then I gave in and took paracetamol for the first time in pregnancy!

jpeg28 · 31/10/2016 19:49

Thanks Nasch... my flu vaccine is Saturday so can't be that. Could just be annoying teenagers getting on my nerves all day!! I think an early night might be a good start!

doleritedinosaur · 31/10/2016 20:04

Hi Miami, I remember your name from ttc thread. Congratulations.

Glad you're okay Lynsey, they always wake up when you get there. DS did it to me quite a few times.

Hope the headaches ease for you soon Jpeg.

It looks like I've got a UTI, but my body has major issues with antibiotics, so the GP had a good think about it & I've got a pharmacist friend who went over all side effects as well so started antibiotics tonight. Dip stick was positive but proper test results are Thursday.
I would normally just take them but with DS the tablets they gave me didn't work out so well so was very wary.

Hope everyone has a nice evening & lovely Halloween. DS was a bat & really cute.

Naschkatze · 31/10/2016 20:06

Oh could definitely be that! Grin In that case, I hope you are like the majority and don't have any side effects.

Alb1 · 31/10/2016 20:18

Welcome miami and congratulations.

jpeg it could deffiently be the teenagers, we only have 1 teenager (we're her legal guardians, not biological, were only 27) and I have a headache from her most days!

Sorry about the uti dole I hope it clears up quickly for you

LynseyH · 31/10/2016 20:44

Headaches are awful in pregnancy. All you want is ibuprofen and all you can have is crappy paracetamol! My headaches were constants for a few weeks but thankfully cleared up. Now just get odd twinges when I'm tired. Seems to be getting my boys horrid cold now though 😢
Thank you nasch and dino. I was abit embarrassed but I actually got a lecture for not going in sooner! She has been in the quiet side today but thankfully no concerns. Was actually in and out of the hospital within an hour. nasch no it really doesn't get easier. I was terrified and kept thinking if it's all gone wrong, I'll never cope. Not this far in. I was shaking like a leaf! Can't describe the relief!
dino uti are horrid, I hope you get sorted in a suitable way asap. Try not to stress about it though and drink lots of water to flush it out too!

I'm glad you've got supportive midwives at the hospital Lynsey. I've been too embarrassed to call so far (after once, two weeks ago when I was basically just told not to worry!) and luckily baby has always woken up again just as I've decided it was time. I've had exactly the same thoughts - I'm completely invested in this pregnancy now in a way I didn't feel at the very beginning. How many weeks are you now?
When I rang the hospital at 21 weeks they told me it was still too early to monitor. 23 now and baby is active this evening after a sleepy weekend but I still manage to find things to worry about...

Miami81 · 31/10/2016 21:08

Thanks for all the kind wishes ladies. Really lovely to hear everyone at different stages now if that makes sense. Anyone in Scotland and gotten a private scan done? Thinking we might either push for a scan at around 10w or pay for one as totally can't face Christmas without some reassurance that all is ok.

MoonlightMojitos · 31/10/2016 21:11

All went well at my scan ladies, such a relief :) here is my jellybean dated at 9+1. Booking appointment was so quick, in and out in 35 mins! Just got to wait for dating scan in the post now. Finally got my flu jab booked for next week too.

Glad everything was ok lynsey from what I've heard babies seem to do this to worry us and then as soon as people get there they are wriggly again. Must be so scary :(.

jpeg I love cool and soothe for a headache, I've always used them for migraines and find they do make a big difference to pop them on and relax if you can. Hope it clears up soon for you.

Sorry about the uti dino but glad they're giving you something to try and hope it clears it up. That's really not fun at the best of times so fx it gets better quickly.

*jellybaby (stubby arms) lol

LynseyH · 31/10/2016 21:51

nasch don't let them put you off, although I felt silly myself after she kicked out at the midwife earlier, I'm so glad I did go in. For sanity and for reassurance. I'm 23+3! We're very close together!
The midwife who told you not to worry may have been trying to be kind (?) but her advice was wrong. I was told today, if you don't feel right, even if it's 5 times in one day, they'd rather check you and know things are good, rather than not check and things go wrong.
I was told, eat something, keep cold water in the fridge at all times and drink some in these cases, lie down, if nothing after an hour, phone them.
Do not let them put you off ever. I'm very invested too. We are both over half way and now we can almost picture the finishing line. We'll be crossing it together :-)
Thank you moonlight it is scary and when there is a history of loss, I think it intensifies the feelings even more. A huge congratulations on your scan!!
Only a few weeks for the dating scan too! So pleased for you x

Aw Lynsey, you should go in if you're worried, anxiety is a really awful thing.
Hope she wriggles a lot now to make up for it.

Thank you Lynsey, moonlight & alb, I'm drinking so much water & ive picked up cranberry tablets & juice. My body doesn't like antibiotics so had a big talk with my friend & even OH said I haven't freaked out as much as I usually would. Definitely sticking to the yoga & anxiety exercises in my book.

Such a lovely scan photo Moonlight, hope the dating scan date comes for you soon.

Miami no idea about Scotland but try maybe google/Facebook for private scan companies? If it puts you at ease go for it. Do you know if a midwife would put you forward for an early scan? Or is it different in Scotland?

Naschkatze · 01/11/2016 06:22

Thank you Lynsey. We're exactly 2 weeks apart then! Good advice, I won't worry about ringing in future.

Congratulations Moonlight, lovely picture of your bean!

Hope you feel better soon Dino.

jpeg28 · 01/11/2016 06:43

Great scan Moonlight! Congrats!

Lynsey glad you have a supportive MW and I think you did the right thing going in.

My headache has gone after an early night but has been replaced with really bad upper back pain, took my breath away when I was getting dressed! Must have slept funny... fingers x it will disappear later on!

INeedNewShoes · 01/11/2016 06:53

Congratulations Moonlight Smile Not long now until your 12-week scan. Hope you get your letter soon.

Just to echo what others have said re movement, my midwife has said that you should always get a reduction in movement checked out straight away (not that I am anywhere near feeling any movement yet!) and never to hesitate in phoning them if I'm worried.

purpleviolet1 · 01/11/2016 07:25

Morning all, hope everyone is well!

Miami congrats , recognise you from the TTC thread Smile I'm in Scotland and I was offered one NHS reassurance scan because I've had two miscarriages. It was an absolute no no after one miscarriage. I also had a private scan through abc4d , (they have it in edinburgh, motherwell and Glasgow) it's about £50.

purpleviolet1 · 01/11/2016 07:26

Not seen a butterflylightsbeside us for a long time.. if you are still reading I hope you are ok xx

Whatsername17 · 01/11/2016 08:20

Moonlight that is a beautiful jellybean! Congratulations! Lynsey so glad you were treated so well. I'm about to see my consultant and will be making a complaint about my treatment. I'm still really upset. One good thing is that my scare has made me get my bum into gear. In the last 24 hours I've ordered a hospital and changing bag which I will be sorting this weekend. Not leaving it to dh to find my clothes again! Plus I ordered our travel system and got an absolute bargin from Amazon. After buying a really expensive one last time and having it break after 14 months of use I didn't want to spend too much. Found a Hauck travel system online which had really good reviews. Checked Amazon and they had a 'warehouse deal' on it because the packaging was damaged (but contents completely fine) so got a car seat, pram and pushchair for £130. Chuffed to bits. If this baby is anything like her sister she will prefer the sling anyway so even if this one lasts 12 months I'll feel like I got value for money. Happy November everyone!

Sah1987 · 01/11/2016 08:45

Loving the positivity of the last 48 hours guys, makes me happy reading all the stuff you guys are talking about.
Even the not so great stuff like UTI and monitoring - because you're all so upbeat about it.

I'm beginning to not feel pregnant again, don't know if this is psychological or because I'm nearing 12 weeks so am losing the morning sickness.
I also had a little bit of fresh blood yesterday after a bout of IBS, so just praying for my next scan date and hoping for the best. Just want to get safely to 12 weeks.

Hope everyone is doing well today x

Whatsername17 · 01/11/2016 10:40

I made my complaint and I am so glad I did. Consultant was horrified. She said that there is no point in her giving me instructions if the staff refuse to let me follow them. I feel so much better now!
