Whatser So glad you're out of hospital. Rest up!

Jpeg I nearly bought one yesterday, also half price, a Mam steriliser and starter kit. I plan to breastfeed but express so DH can do occasional feed if possible. I don't know if this is a good idea/recommended though - still need to research. In the end I decided against the purchase as I read (whilst googling in the shop) that it's best not to express for the first few weeks while supply settles anyway. I'd say, it will be worth having when/if you do move on to bottles so just keep the receipt for now. Can always sell second hand if necessary?

jpeg28 · 29/10/2016 15:17

Thanks Whatser and Natsch! I'm going to hang on to them for a while and do some research. I messaged a friend who has breast fed her son for a whole year!!! She said the steriliser etc is good to have but also an electric pump, which I didn't get. I think the Tommee Tippee machine could be a waste if I am successful in breast feeding but I suppose if I keep it in the box I could sell it. I guess you just don't know what will happen.
On the plus side we tested out some prams and think we found our fave!

purpleviolet1 · 29/10/2016 15:57

Thank you ladies. Does this anxiety ever leave though? Each day I'm
Counting and praying everything is ok. I'm trying to enjoy it but I can't bring myself to think about buying things etc yet.

On another note it's my birthday tomorrow Smile I'll be 27!!

Bloopbleep · 29/10/2016 16:03

Hey whatsername it must be a relief to have got the painkillers! I had an enlarged kidney during my first pregnancy and lots of abdominal pain that they couldn't explain. It all went away as soon as I delivered.
That pregnancy was 7/8years ago and very different to this one so far

Bloopbleep · 29/10/2016 16:04

Happy birthday for tomorrow purple

Whatsername17 · 29/10/2016 16:26

That's reassuring to hear bloop - could all be weird pregnancy issues then? The stomach pain came in waves of high intensity to dull ache and I was so sick. They tested me for pre term labour but I knew the pain was too high to be contractions. This pregnancy is very different to my first too! Has been from the outset. Weird isn't it?

Bloopbleep · 29/10/2016 16:33

It's really weird whatsername! I was nearly getting my appendix out. Had the best stay in hospital tho as I had a room to myself and peace. No one has ever mentioned it since, they didn't even check again after being dx'd at 26 weeks.

doleritedinosaur · 29/10/2016 21:46

Sorry just doing a big catch up of the thread after having some time out and a nice night away where DS decided to be a party animal at 3am.

Whatser glad you're out now, hopefully its just a one off and your kidney will go back to normal. Pregnancy does so much to your body.
I had the same treatment from midwives in the hospital when I went in at 32 weeks with DS, they couldn't let me go until a doctor had seen me and I was on a bed waiting for a 5 hours and could hear them muttering until doctor saw me and got me on a drip as it turned out I had sepsis and severe liver deterioration. I didn't believe them as I kept saying well the midwives said it was nothing.

That's why if anyone feels like something is wrong, go with your gut not by what a midwife says just by looking at you.

Such good scan news.

Ants hope your test results come for you quickly and are positive.

Jpeg I bought bottles for before DS but I'm actually selling them now as he never had a bottle and went straight to a beaker. This one will be the same as I'm so stubborn, I told OH to body block any medical professional who tries to give new baby formula, not at least because they may not be able to tolerate it. People on my local facebook group seem to sell the prep machines quite quickly if you don't need it later on especially if yours is unused etc.

Happy birthday for tomorrow purple.

I stupidly went on the "3/4 maternity trusts not doing well" thread (can't remember the exact name,) and looked up my local hospital which has lead to a freak out. I know I need to push forward with pregnancy yoga as the breathing exercises are really soothing and the anxiety stuff now.

On a positive note baby now moves my belly and woke up OH last night moving so much.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

MoonlightMojitos · 29/10/2016 22:40

Urgh dino I looked too, my area is one of the 11 worst in country "greatest need for improvement"

jpeg I find the world of prams etc completely overwhelming and have no idea where to even start!

Happy birthday for tomorrow purple!!!

whats glad you're home and everything was ok with baby. Fx everything clears up for you soon.

doleritedinosaur · 29/10/2016 23:06

I really wish I hadn't seen the thread Moonlight! However going to see if I can block that site for January when the new report comes out.

To be honest my last hospital is the leading one of that country and the amount of mistakes they've made in maternity does just go to show it can happen anywhere.
Just need to think positively, somehow.

Are you near a John Lewish *moonlight"? They have different terrains and most of the prams for you to try out in their baby department and you can book an appointment to try out prams/whatever you are looking for without pressure to buy but means you can try out all the different brands/models.

It depends what you're looking for, if you want a complete travel system with carseat, goes from pram to pushchair. If you live in a city or rural and the size of your boot if you have a car.

For DS we went with a silvercross monodot I think its called came with carseat, carry cot, changing bag and went from pram to pushchair.
However DS hated it so he was in the sling a lot then when I used it when we moved to a rural town, I found it so heavy.
So I picked up a quinny buzz secondhand on facebook, I love it, DS likes it and its so light. Plus fits in the car and folds up tiny. I managed to get the carrycot for £5 off facebook this week so if I need it for new baby we're good to go.
So if you like a really expensive model can always see if there's a decent secondhand one going around.
Also I know loads of mum's who picked out one pram to get another and sell the first because they haven't got on with it, so don't let it stress you out so much.

LynseyH · 30/10/2016 07:41

I love pushchair buying! And can honestly say I've had around 20 pushchairs since I had my eldest son. Could be more Blush I just love them for some reason! Everyone is already telling me to choose wisely this time so I don't want a different one in a few months!

Happy birthday purple! Have a lovely day.

Bump is on show today for the first time, still worried people will think I'm just fat!!

LynseyH · 30/10/2016 11:13

Did anyone manage an extra hour in bed?!
I didn't, was up earlier than normal and started our family roast at half 7, got my Mum and Dad coming soon so I'm doing roast chicken and roasted lamb with all fresh veggies and homemade Yorkshire puddings.
Bump must be looking forward to it too, she's a little wriggler today!

MoonlightMojitos · 30/10/2016 11:18

Ah lynsey that's my worry that I'll keep wanting different ones! We really can't afford to do that either lol. I want to choose one that will go all the way from birth to toddler+. I think I'll probably use a sling most the time when they're little anyway but good to have one ready/as well isn't it.

Why have you done this to me?!!!! Oh, roast lamb. My mouth is watering at the thought now! I'm still in bed Blush. I've actually been awake since 6.30 but watching TV and browsing MN. I forgot to change the clocks so the timer on TV and alarm went off at 6.30 instead of usual 7.30 anyway. Sigh. I will get up before 12 and do some housework....

Alb1 · 30/10/2016 11:31

lyndsey I'm seriously jealous of your roast!

No extra hour here, 2 year old DS saw to that!

doleritedinosaur · 30/10/2016 12:26

No extra hour here, I forgot my alarm clock isn't a smartphone so thought it was 9am for some reason and woke DS up at 7am he is now napping though so not bad!

Roast dinner sounds amazing Lynsey, we're sadly not having one today, definitely on an eating mission though.

My face and hands have gone really dry, with my face now reacting to everything bar simple moisturiser. Used my cleanser and it looked like I had had a chemical peel.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday, I'm starting to wrap christmas presents today and sort out DS's book advent. I'm starting to turn into a really love christmas person.

jpeg28 · 30/10/2016 13:08

No extra hour Sad one of OHs friends called at midnight and I was pretty much awake from then! Ended up on sofa from 4 as couldn't stand all the tossing and turning!

About to start a roast... roast lamb sounds amazing Lynsey! We have only got chicken!

LynseyH · 30/10/2016 17:33

I don't think anyone had the extra hour by the sounds of it!
It was my first time ever cooking lamb today (i don't actually like it, it was for my dad and partner!) they tell me it was lovely so mission accomplished! I enjoyed the chicken as much as they enjoyed the lamb! We had Belgian waffles, ice cream and chocolate sauce for pudding 😋 it's been a good day! Absolutely worn out though now.

On the pushchair obsession, I find one that is lovely as a newborn carrier, is usually rubbish as a stroller later on. Maybe I just find fault! I've found a gorgeous pushchair that comes with everything we'll need in a lovely colour so just waiting til Christmas is sorted before I spend the money. We have now got a steriliser, swing chair, bottles and moses on order to be delivered this week. We also have a hooded towel, blanket, sheets for the moses, changing mat bought and sorted! So exciting Grin

Oh and happy birthday purple! sorry it's late x

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/2710240-Whats-great-about-newborns?pg=3&order= just reading this... Oh I cannot wait to have a squishy baby! Only 7 more months to go for me....

jpeg28 · 30/10/2016 18:10

Lynsey that pudding sounds amazing! We had a lovely apple crumble (shop bought!) said it served 4... just about served 2!! My parents came over this afternoon and me and my Mum were looking at prams etc. She has already started buying babygros etc she's so excited!

On the prams... how do I know what a good one is? OH is convinced the Joolz is the right one, I love it, but it's mega money and I'm worried we will regret it!

Whatsername17 · 30/10/2016 18:36

I'm jealous of all of your Sunday dinners! DD and DH had hot dogs. I had the extra hour, but after a night in hospital being back in my own bed meant that an earth quake wouldn't have woke me. Luckily, dd likes to sleep in. She regularly goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps until 8-9am the next day. She didn't sleep through until she was 2 1/2, but now she loves sleep!

LynseyH · 30/10/2016 18:50

The pushchair I decided on is only costing £185 (gone up £6 since I last looked lol) but it's lovely. It's coming from abroad which is why it's so cheap. All safety checked though and the customer service is amazing from them. I've also had a double buggy from them a couple of years ago so I know they are good.
The right buggy is simply one that is safe, has the features you want/need and feel happy with. I like pushchairs with separate handles, as an example, rather than one full bar. But having said that, my chosen one is a full bar, but has a 'parent tray' on the top which can be useful!
It's almost like going shopping for a new bag or shoes, you'll know it when you see it!

Hi there
Hope you don't me jumping onto the thread. I recognise loads of names from the ttc thread. Congratulations to you all and happy and healthy pregnancies to you. I dropped off the ttc thread in July as it all just got a bit much for me, I was stressing out a lot and decided to take a step back from the whole thing, stopped temping, stopped poas basically just stopped (although kept up the bd'ing obv). I had a Mmc in April and just did a frer yesterday on our first wedding anniversary and it is a BFP. So delighted, but now totally shitting myself so need to be on here as we probably won't tell anyone irl until after some form of scan.
Did acupuncture for the first time this cycle, I know that some of you did as well, have you kept it up through first trimester?? Also I have been taking pregnacare conception, macs root and Angus cactus so will probably switch over to just one tablet now, definitely no Angus from now on. Anyway have lovely days ladies.
Thanks

jpeg28 · 31/10/2016 09:29

Congratulations Miami! Great to see you on here. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

Badgerbird · 31/10/2016 10:16

Hi miami and big congratulations!! Exciting and nerve wracking SmileConfused
I was having accupuncture and have continued weekly (he does half price sessions so very lucky) throughout my pregnancy so far, I'm 10+3. I think it may have helped with symptoms as although I've felt nauseous I've not actually been sick yet and don't seem to be suffering as much as some women. It helps my mental heAlth too though mainly and I find it great to have someone to talk to as he's run pregnancy units etc so lots of experience. If you feel comfortable with your acupuncturist and they are experienced in treating pregnant women then it may be nice to continue :)
