Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Thanks fiddlesticks and Clarabellehappy - we couldnt be happier. Just a bit (overly) cautious though - we had already come to terms with not being able to get to this point and attended an adoption agency open day a couple of months ago!

GP appointment is on Tuesday next week. Can't wait to tell them ;)

As I am a bit of an exercise/adrenaline junkie, has anyone else here already made significant chages to their exercise routines? I did pilates last week, and I have to say laying on my stomach wasnt a hit.. probably due to bloatedness though...

X

Helbelle75 · 14/04/2016 15:31

Complete exercise junkie here - usually 3-4 hours of dance a week, an hour of circuits and kettlebells at home 3 times a week.. I've managed 2 hours of dance this week and then been so tired I've not been able to do any more. I do have a very energy consuming job though, so that's been using all of my energy up!
I'm trying to be kind to myself and not worry. I'm hoping I'll manage to keep my fitness up with walks etc. I'm not sure the kettlebells and circuits is great at the moment, but I will certainly keep up with the ballet.

Clarabellehappy76 · 14/04/2016 23:14

Just like you ladies...I've been so tired this week. Even though I have been getting lies of rest. Brisk walking and swimming will be my focus to stay healthy. I am not the perfect size 10...so I intend to control any weight gain as much as possible..although I hear the boobs have a mind of their own 😂 7th week for me too...roll on my scan.!!

Night x

Congratulations! When are you planning to announce your pregnancy? I'm pretty sure, many are waiting for it. Smile

ermmm · 15/04/2016 01:04

Just had my Bfp. Estimate due date from lmp is around Dec 13th.
This will be #3 but feels like will be a whole new ball game.
Last time I was pregnant was in 2002 so 14 yrs ago now 😳. Was in my twenties now am 30ermmm lol😉.
All last week thought AF was late coming so the usual cramps and back ache. I am regular with my periods and always have crappy first two days. I like to know exactly when I come on so I can meal plan sort the dc lifts to various activities etc B4 my two days hibernation lol.
Still a bit anxious if it's real thus the late night message... Will take a digital test in morn/ few hours.
Good luck to all you on the December train.🌷

gumdropss · 15/04/2016 10:33

Thanks fiddlesticks, think I made the right decision for me about the private scan. It is in a couple of hours, feeling very nervous. My husband isn't going to be able to come due to an urgent situation at work, so my colleague/friend is coming with me.

Also feeling very sick today and keep going off to the toilet but nothing's happening. As much as I hate vomiting, it usually makes me feel a bit better, so wish it would just happen! But still, trying to take it as a positive that I feel something.

HamletMouse · 15/04/2016 10:59

Hello, can I join??

Got a BFP on Sunday and estimated due date according to NHS due date calculator is 18th December.

So excited! I've been having cramps since last Thursday, and was so sure AF was coming. I only really did a test to put me out of my misery. Have now done several test and definitely pregnant Grin glad to know I'm not the only one having cramps, they can be quite worrying. Otherwise I've had some nausea and mood swings.

ermmm · 15/04/2016 13:16

gimdropss good luck with your scan fx all is as it should be.
Congrats hamlet.
Not sure it's a good thing but I actually forgot to eat this morn😳.
Have just dry heaved realised I need to eat.
I'm usually always hungry so slightly over weightBlush so hope that's a trait I carry on with after pregnancy/ though I do doubt that lol

JillyCooper2015 · 15/04/2016 15:41

Same as Hamlet! Didn't think I was pregnant as boobs sore and was grumpy...

My dd is 20th December!

Am very happy, also v nervous as is my first (my partner's third) and we've had a challenging few days as a couple since I got my results so am not only tired and emotional but also feeling a bit vulnerable and crappy :(

gumdropss · 15/04/2016 21:46

Ah thank you ermmm, it went well! Can't really see much at this stage but baby was in the right place and could see the little flicker on the screen for the heartbeat. Feel really relieved.

Rugby01 · 15/04/2016 22:31

Hi there. Can I join this group? I am due early Dec and it's my first. Reading all your posts is really helpful as at least I know I'm not the only one worrying about the same things! I have my midwife appt on Thur next week. Anyone else only nauseous in the evenings?
I really want to tell people - four more weeks to go!

gumdrops - so exciting about your scan. I bet it feels more real now. I sometimes even forget about when I'm in the depths of work in the day- it's so strange (but so exciting!!!).

ermmm · 15/04/2016 22:51

It's morning day and night here! Was like that with my first had symptoms even before I had missed AF.
Second was last trimester that the sickness kicked in!
Good luck Hun

RD82 · 15/04/2016 23:03

Lovely seeing all your update!

My boobs are KILLING ME and I've had the on & off crampiness I mentioned earlier, and lower back ache.

Also I seem to have developed a very small (& perceptible only to me) eye twitch in my right eye since I got my BFP? Annoying!

No sickness yet. I sort of want to it come as a marker to show everything is ok tbh. Anybody else not feeling sick yet? I'm 5 wks today.

Helbelle75 · 15/04/2016 23:36

I'm 6 weeks and no sickness yet, but very sore boobs, extreme exhaustion and piles (sorry if tmi!).

Very exciting about your scan gumdrops

bumbleclat · 16/04/2016 00:41

Hello! I can't believe I'm joining this thread but just found our tidal that I'm pregnant (can't believe I'm writing that!)
December wow I am so excited/daunted :)
Loads of cramping but none of the others (yet)
Part of me feels bad because my dear mum is ha I got chemo at the moment but maybe it will giver her something to keep going for when things get difficult.
Congratulations everyone we are mums! Grin

bumbleclat · 16/04/2016 00:42

Ah auto correct our tidal = out today

ermmm · 16/04/2016 05:43

Congrats bumblecat.
Hopefully the good news will give a lovely boost to your DM.
clarabelle your gp sounds lovely and supportive.

I seem to have lost my appetite completely. Yesterday I only remembered I ain't eaten anything when I had nausea mud afternoo😬.

Even dc were shocked when i turned down pizza lol.
Is it baby #1 for most of you?
Baby#3 here.
💐

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 06:42

Baby #1 for me. I feel so lucky to finally be pregnant now that I can't imagine getting lucky again.

And no sickness for me either and I'm 6+3. Boobs don't seem so big anymore and not peeing as frequently either. Though I did vomit twice while trying to brush my teeth yesterday. Does that count?

Rugby01 · 16/04/2016 07:34

helbelle and rd - congratulations! I didn't start feeling sick until week 7.... It is reassuring I agree. ermm - sorry you have it all day! Sounds annoying.

I'm also running out of excuses for why I can't drink! Everyone seems to just 'know' but is not saying anything.... Thinking of telling my mum this weekend.

bumble - what lovely news to tell your mum. So sorry about her difficult situation.

Helbelle75 · 16/04/2016 08:22

We're sure people must know as well. We got married in September and are older and everyone knows how much we love kids. I'm usually full of energy and always up for a drink, so we feel it's really obvious as I'm so tired and clearly won't be drinking. Went out for my friend's 40th the day after my missed period and no one said anything about me not drinking at all. Normally they would have really taken the p.
Hope your mum's chemo goes well bumble. It's lovely to have good news for her.
We lost my nan in February which hit the family very hard, so we have told immediate family and they are thrilled.

Rugby01 · 16/04/2016 09:14

Anyone else discussed how to divide up finances and deal with that after the maternity pay runs out? It's my first, and I'm 40, so I am used to being independent - can't imagine not having any money of my own and asking OH for it! So far discussions have not gone well....

bumbleclat · 16/04/2016 09:58

Rugby I'm in the same boat as you I will refuse to ask DH for money.
After 6 weeks I'll only be getting £550 per month which is my usual outgoings so Ill be left with nothing.
So I'm going to keep £200 spending money give anything else I get towards bills and leave it to DH to pay.
I'm really hating the idea of having half the money I normally have DH and I have always gone 50/50

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 10:09

Rugby, it's been at the back of my mind, but haven't gotten around to having the conversation yet. Last year, my DH left a job he hated and I supported him for 6 months while he job hunted. I'm assuming it will be the same while I'm on mat leave. We are lucky that my DH now earns enough to cover rent and bills on his own, so I can't see why he can't do this for a year.

Helbelle75 · 16/04/2016 10:17

I've always been super independent (I'm also 40), but I'm the main wage earner at the moment and pay the majorityof the bills, so roles will be reversed a little. I know I will have to do some kind of work as DH's salary at the moment won't be enough.
We've talked our options through and we're fine.
I spent 10 years with someone who did spilt everything 50/50, leaving me with no spending money at all, and I promised myself that money would never be an issue in a relationship again.

Rugby01 · 16/04/2016 10:44

bumble, shop, helbelle- thanks for sharing your thoughts on the money issue. It is so tricky and I think our past experiences really do shape how we feel and how we approach it. I know OH will and does want to properly share things 50/50 once it's just his salary, it's just how to make that happen in practice. Why is maternity pay so unfair? I spose it's better than some countries but still I feel I am being penalised for producing the next generation! 😕
