Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Hi gumdrops massive congratulations what a fantastic good news story, so pleased for you after what must have been a difficult year. I'm so glad you brought up the non-drinking things, your MIL sounds intense and I totally understand not wanting to share your news until after your MW appointment. I have a similar issue with a night out tomorrow night with my best friends - DH and I live a few hours away from my hometown due to his work so when I see my home friends it's always a big night full of prosecco fuelled catch ups! It will be blatantly obvious if I don't drink so I'm either going down the 'mega night out on Friday so never drinking again' route, or an ear infection of some sort with antibiotics excuse, or maybe just drive but that is so boring. I think all will be totally transparent because I'm usually a life and soul type character but hopefully even if the girls notice they won't say anything. Do you think in any world your MIL would be the same and just politely not say anything?!! Sounds like maybe not, but in these sorts of occasions sadly there just isn't a way around it!! Maybe the non-alcoholic wine is a good idea, or lime and soda acting as vodka lime and soda?!

Just come out of the doctors, it was as much of a non-occasion as I'd expected and they've just given me the number of our local midwife. I have called them but they're in the middle of a clinic and have asked me to call back at 11.15, so I guess I'll find out more then!!

Booking appointment all sorted for 28th April so I'll be 9 weeks then and hopefully only a few weeks away from our first scan!

Ah thank you fiddlesticks (sorry not sure how to tag anyone, I'm new to this!). Obviously I'm hoping for the best with the pregnancy, but is such early days and I'm just so glad to have had a positive result - I see that as promising news generally.

You're right, there's little chance that my MIL will be quiet about it if she does notice something is off, she's as subtle as a brick! I will just have to see how it goes...

I hope your night out is still fun. If I were you I'd text your friends now and say you're not feeling too well, that you hope you're better for tomorrow... sow the seeds of doubt that you might not make it.. then decide to go tomorrow but not drink.

We have recently moved and I'm yet to register with the local GP practice. I will get that sorted on my return and then give them a call to see what the protocol is in this area - whether I need to see a doctor or can self refer to a midwife.

Azure83 · 02/04/2016 08:21

Hi, can I join?

I got a BFP yesterday morning! Did another test this morning just in case but there's no mistaking my xtra large sore boobs for anything else right now. DC1 due on Dec 11th! It's crazy how fast things have happened, I got off the pill in Feb so only took two cycles.

You self-refer to a midwife in my area and she called me back with lots of questions yesterday, which was fine but she she also asked which hospital I'd like to give birth in?! Whoa! Haven't thought about the exit strategy yet! Soo much to think about..

Oh, and congrats to all December mums-to-be!!!

gumdropss · 08/04/2016 09:29

Hi Azure and welcome!

How's everyone doing?

Popskipiekin · 08/04/2016 10:01

Hi all!!! Can I join too? Just found out I'm pregnant with baby #2, due day after you Azure Smile. Am now starting to worry to DH about being late and getting into Christmas baby territory but realise I should hold my horses on that for a wee bit at least... Grin Let's get the next couple of months out the way first!

Helbelle75 · 08/04/2016 12:37

Hi
also very excited, and nice to be able to chat with people in a similar position.
We started to TTC in January, and I tested positive on Tuesday (DH's - best present ever for him!). I'm going to the doctor's this pm.
It's our first, and we're both older (40 and 42), so hugely excited, but hoping all goes well.
Congratulations to everyone else, and looking forward to chatting with you all.

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 16:10

Hi there I found out that I am pregnant today and I think I will be due in December Lmp 12 mar and think we conceived 25th or 26th March. Checked in with doctor today and I can't get a midwife appointment until May 5th which feels ages away x

Pops1985 · 08/04/2016 16:50

I had my doctors appointment today and what a non event! They didnt even test me... just weight and blood pressure and said my local hospital would be in touch!

gumdropss · 08/04/2016 16:56

Ha pops yeah I've heard that the initial visit can be pretty underwhelming.. I've yet to register with the local GP practice. Must do that soon! 6 + 4 today. Anyone else feel like time is dragging!? Have any of you chosen to tell relatives or are you holding off?

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 08/04/2016 17:14

I got my BFP this morning. I have absolutely no idea what to do now! I'm guessing I should call my doctor's on Monday? I'm a bit weirded out still by the whole thing to be honest. I think I got so used to seeing the negatives each month and AF, I just expected that to happen.

I've had a dull ache since yesterday, doesn't quite feel the same as AF cramps but it's in the same area. I've consulted Dr Google and that seems normal so that's good! Anyone else feel like Dr Google will become a good friend over the next 9 months?

shopaholic85 · 08/04/2016 17:46

Hi all and congratulations Flowers. I am due on 8th Dec and 5+2 today. Also joined to the December ante-natal club, but find threads with lots of people quite overwhelming.

gumdrops, we have told our sisters, as just couldn't stick to the 'tell no one until after 12 weeks' pact we made after our mc in Jan. And I am trying not to count each day, as I think that is what is making the time drag.

Is anyone else feeling tired all the time? I'm struggling to keep my eyes open around lunchtime, so napping for a few hours in the afternoon, and usually in bed by 8pm Blush. Back to work on Monday, so not sure how I will cope. No sickness yet though and eating everything in sight. Really craving an Indian takeaway tonight. Anyone have any tips on dealing with unhealthy cravings?

iwillbemrsminty · 08/04/2016 21:12

Hi ladies. Can u join you too? I got my bfp on Wednesday and calculate I'm 4 weeks exactly today and due 16 December!! Haven't been to the docs yet and seek addicted to poas! I've done 5 so far since Wednesday and need to stop now! Confused

iwillbemrsminty · 08/04/2016 21:14

flying me me me! I've been on google whilst I've been at work and it's as bad as the poas addiction! Need to stop them both!

iwillbemrsminty · 08/04/2016 21:15

becci I meant to say you've got exactly the same lmp and conceive dates as me!

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 21:49

Iwillbemrsminty that's so cool so chuffed for us both!! I never expected to conceive on our first attempt on honeymoon it feels unreal. I'm 34 and my husband is 44 so Imagined it would take several months. We've just been to the pub to celebrate I had my tonic water in a wine glass. Gosh no more prosecco for 9 months how will I cope!!! Xx

gumdropss · 09/04/2016 10:41

That's fair enough shopaholic, I bet they were so happy for you! In the end we told my in-laws as I couldn't face excusing myself out of drinking every night for a week. I felt a massive weight lifted as soon as they knew, so I was able to enjoy the holiday!

Yeah I also feel really tired, going to bed much earlier than usual (8/8.30pm as opposed to 11) which probably isn't a bad thing. But I'm not sleeping well at all and always waking up at 5am for a wee.

Is anyone else considering having a private early scan? I've been reading a lot about them, think I will just try and wait it out til weeks though..

fiddlesticks123 · 09/04/2016 13:24

Hi All

I haven't posted for ages, nice to see some new faces! Hope everyone's doing well.

I'm 6+2 today and feeling seriously bloated, tired and sickness is starting to take its toll. I've also got a sore throat but no cold so that's a little odd, not sure if it's even pregnancy related, at the moment I just presume everything is!!

My booking appt is on 28th April, feels so far away I'm really looking forward to it even if it is dull, it's one step closer to the scan!

Is anyone putting weight on?! I'm trying to keep mine down as I already have a slightly overweight BMI after losing a lot for our recent wedding but somehow I've already gained 2lbs and I feel like crap!! Hopefully it's just bloat and water weight but with all the nausea I think I'm going to have to change my diet to little and often and work out some healthy meal plans that won't leave me feeling hungry/sick! If anyone has any experience or ideas then I'd love to hear them Smile

It's so exciting isn't it? I'm 5+2 and had cramping earlier on in the week, but that's gone now and my boobs are super sore.
I have a little tummy now, which feels odd as i've always had a flat tummy, but don't own scales so don't know if I've put weight on. Feeling really tired and a little worried about hoing back to work next week, as I'm a teacher. I think I'll have to have a nap at lunchtime...

MrsAmelia · 09/04/2016 23:56

Hi Ladies...

Congratulations to everyone! I wanted to join earlier, but I've been feeling very superstitious, though I'm not normally. My due date is December 3rd. Today I am 6 weeks exactly. I'm 37 and this will be my second child, though third pregnancy. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed this pregnancy goes smoothly.

I hope you're all feeling well. I believe someone else (I'm so bad at remembering names, I'm sorry 😊) stated - enjoy the lack or minimal symptoms now... So true! We might all be bemoaning something or other during our third trimesters so enjoy the glow now 😍...

That's it from me, but I look forward to our roller coaster ride together over the next nine months ladies ... I wish us all healthy and sticky pregnancies ...

Vb87 · 10/04/2016 12:43

Hi, my EDD is 14th December (my late Grandmothers birthday!) nice to have some buddies due around the same time. Congrats to all you new mummy's to be xx

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 10/04/2016 16:32

The stressing has began! I managed to convince myself that this is going to be a chemical. I've been poas every day since my bfp on Friday. I ran a 10k this morning and on the way home, the cramping started up again (been on and off since thursday/friday). My brain just started going overtime... did I overheat? Was my heart rate too high? Took another cheapie when I got home and the line was fainter than it was first thing this morning.... of course it would be because my wee would be more dilute, but me being a stresshead, I've just been thinking it over again and again. Going to do another FR test tomorrow morning so I can compare the colour to Friday and Saturday, hopefully it will chill me out! I know I'm being a nutter about it and whatever will be will be, but I can't turn my brain off Grin

Even better, I work in a lab and I know that for the next 9 months, every time I smell something or splash water about, I will convince myself that whatever I'm working with is super toxic, who cares what the SDS says! Blush

I was wondering, is it worth ringing my GP tomorrow morning to get the ball rolling?

MrsMarsch · 10/04/2016 21:50

Hi - can I join please?

Found out last week we're expecting DC#1 in December this year, I'm ridiculously excited/terrified something could go wrong but me and DH are buzzing to tell someone, so I'm telling you ladies!

I'm 23, been TTC for 6 months after a miscarriage last year :) :)

Helbelle75 · 10/04/2016 22:08

So exciting! Congratulations!
