Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Has anyone experienced cramping? I'm 4+4 and found out I was pregnant 4 days ago. Since then I've had cramping/sharp twinges in my lower abdomen. I've read online that it's normal but I don't remember having them with with my first.

Helbelle75 · 10/04/2016 23:24

I had that earlier in the week when I would have been 4+5. From what I've read it's fairly normal, although this is my first pregnancy, so I've no prior experience.

Clarabellehappy76 · 11/04/2016 18:27

Hi there,

I would love to join and share all the chat. This will be my first baby and we are super excited.!! Going to see GP on Wednesday and think I have worked out due date for 9th December.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we have been trying for 9 months...so over the moon.!!

A bit of a crampy feeling, some tiredness and indegestion..but so happy it's not bothering me...right now 😉

Hope to talk to you all over the coming months and getting advice.

Is it crazy that I am going to pick up another test this week.!?!?!

Cheers x

fiddlesticks123 · 11/04/2016 18:54

I had quite a bit of cramping in weeks 4 & 5. Week 6 brought serious nausea... I'm really looking forward to the next stage!

I'll look forward to that fiddlesticks 👍🏻😊

fiddlesticks123 · 11/04/2016 20:29

Ive had cramps they keep worrying me as it feels like premenstrual cramps I'll be glad when the next week is over with and my period is well and truley missed still keep panicking as I tested early don't want to jinx things x

Clarabellehappy76 · 11/04/2016 21:01

I know...the worry is always there. I've been saying the same thing to my partner. Can't wait for them to stop. Positive thinking.😊 X

becciandbump · 11/04/2016 21:12

Def agree with the positive thinking feel very reassured that other people are feeling cramps too we should just accept it as part of the journey. Husband quite supportive keeps telling me what will be will be just to keep relaxed and that's the best thing to do xx

Rugby01 · 11/04/2016 22:26

Hi there. Can I join this group? I'm 7 weeks plus a few days. The nuasea really starting to hit me now... and I not sure how I'm going to cope at work!

Vb87 · 11/04/2016 22:28

I had a symptomless pregnancy with my first so I'm expecting everything this time round. Good to know the cramps are quite common though, it's put my mind at rest. Seeing my gynaecologist tomorrow as I've had quite a lot of my cervix removed due to pre cancerous cells. I have to have a stitch put in in my 2nd trimester...not looking forward to that. Seeing my gp on wed so hopefully get my scan date sorted! Is everyone struggling to keep pregnancy news a secret? I've nearly blurted it out to my MIL and my dad. X

fiddlesticks123 · 12/04/2016 08:31

Vb that sounds stressful but wish you all the best, at least you have a good professional team around you to help you through it.

We have now told both sets of parents, they were all super excited! We won't be telling anyone else until 12 weeks though I don't think.

We are planning on telling the parents asap but my mums on holiday and my dads working away so don't want to tell them over the phone. I'm desperate to tell someone Grin

RD82 · 12/04/2016 17:39

Hi all

Can I join please? We found out on Saturday. So thrilled! I'm 4+4 and to be honest it feels like time has slowed down since then, I just want to be further along and for everything to be ok. That 12 week scan feels a long way off!

I planning on telling my best friends next week when I'm back from a weekend break but I'm not sure when we will tell parents, I'm thinking after a scan which I may pay for around 10 was as 12 weeks just seems waaaaay to long to wait.

Symptoms are sore boobs, mild campiness & bloating and feeling very 'aware' of my stomach area. Also not struggling to take an afternoon nap each day since we've found out Grin

Hope you're all doing ok today Smile x

Clarabellehappy76 · 12/04/2016 18:13

Evening...I have had quite a day of nausea...and indegestion..not pleasant.! Think I may have not helped by running out the door to work with an empty stomach..lesson learnt. Rennies are now my friends.👍🏻

I can totally relate to the keeping a secret frustration...so desperate to tell my Mum since she has been so supportive while we were trying...will need to perfect my poker face...but thinking of telling parents only at 8 weeks😀
I've had friends tell me that time flies after the first scan...I am hopefully gonna try to enjoy the whole experience...well most of it ...lol.

Roll on December.!
X

I've had cramping too, doesn't feel the same as AF pains, more of a dull ache than anything. All completely normal I've been told Wink Not really had many other symptoms, expect that to change over the next week or 2.

I decided to call the midwife yesterday as well. I was worried that it would have been too early and she would have told me to bugger off, but she was absolutely lovely Smile I'm booked in on the 29th. Very exciting!

fiddlesticks123 · 13/04/2016 09:06

Without wanting to be dramatic, (though I appreciate this probably/hopefully is) - is everyone's cramping dead centre??

Mine is noticeably more so to the left, always has been, even ovulation twinges and implantation, it's always been on the left of my tummy. Now I'm winding myself up internally of the risk it could be ectopic. Or maybe that's just the side of the womb the egg is implanted in?!!

Where is your cramping?

OP posts:
RD82 · 13/04/2016 09:18

I would say my crampiness is kind of all over, it switches around. It's like a dull ache.

Fiddle try not to panic, I thought light bleeding combined with pain is one of the main signs of an ectopic? I'm the worst for googling symptoms so I know how it feels to go off on one worrying. X

Kajlo · 13/04/2016 09:25

Hi ladies,

Congratulations everyone!

Can I join please? We found out on Saturday, and the due date is 15 December - so excited, after 3 years of trying, being referred to a fertility clinic, having everything that can be poked poked, and we finally managed to concieve unaided over a bit of hols! :)

I've had lots of cramping - every single day since my period was due, and super tired..

For the general question about drinking and letting people know, I have told a couple of friends who've invited us over for dinner, but I know they will be discrete. I am also likely to tell other friends I'll be visiting in the end of the month, as I obviously can't have that drink... But we dont really want to tell family until 12 weeks in, ...or any less discrete friends who might end up telling family given a chance!

Good luck everyone x

fiddlesticks123 · 13/04/2016 09:33

Welcome Kaljo what lovely news for you after 3 years, really pleased for you.

Thanks RD I know you're right about the bleeding, I haven't had any blood or spotting at all so far so lucky in that respect, it is only these exclusive left cramps that have me worried. My MW appt is now only a couple of weeks away so I think I'll ask the question there and see what she says.

Welcome Kajilo,

So happy for you...and great after those years of trying.!!

I was at my GP this morning and she was lovely...gave me a hug.😀 Also gave me number for midwife booking line so all booked in for first midwife appointment on 7th May and scan on 31st May...seems so soon but desperate to get there and make sure everything ok.
I mentioned my cramping to GP this morning and she was really reassuring and said it is a normal sign of early pregnancy and not to worry..she also mentioned light spotting is nothing to worry about too.
Funny comment from her was that for the next 20 years you will just have worry and guilt...part of being a mum..it did make me giggle.

Hopefully we all get to our scans with minimal worry...!!

Cheers X

Hi girls,

Come and join us on the December thread!

Pops1985 · 13/04/2016 16:18

My cramps are all on the left too, so I feel your pain/worry fiddlesticks but my best friend told me that 95% of any weird feelings/cramps you have down there are always wind because things are starting to move around. So I am trying not to worry ! Hope everyone is doing well. I havent had any symptoms except for the sore boobs, thought I had some nausea this morning but turns out it was just a really rocky trains :-)

gumdropss · 13/04/2016 18:02

Ah I finally caved today and booked a private early scan for Friday when I will be 7 + 4. I've been longing to be pregnant for over a year now but I never thought about the agonising worry of the first 12 weeks! I've kind of got it in my head that something's wrong (I think I'm naturally a pessimist) and keep thinking that I would rather know now than have to wait a few more weeks. Hopefully everything is fine and on track... though even if it is, all we should be able to see is that it's in the right place and hopefully a heart beat!

fiddlesticks123 · 13/04/2016 20:26

pops good to know you're a fellow lefty, even if it is just misplaced farts haha!!

gumdrops that sounds fab, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about although I appreciate that's easier said than done. I bet you're so excited to see your little one!! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and can't wait for the Ovia fruit to turn from blueberry to raspberry, so you'll be getting to see your raspberry!!!
