Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Hi Youngoldmum, I've not been on here for a while, came back from south East Asia to a mad few days at work and stinking cold Sad I feel exactly the same. I'm now 18+2 and feel knackered most of the time. I also vomited on Friday night for the first time in weeks. Been cheering myself up ordering a few more maternity pieces Smile
When is everyone having their 20 week scan? Will you ladies find out the sex? Ours is the 15th and we can't wait to find out if we're having a little boy or girl. Hope you're all well. X

Has anyone had one of these 16 week "group appointments"? Maybe only at UCH/for second baby? Sounds pointless all round! But I have mine tomorrow (when I'll be 17+1) so will see how it goes.
Pretty ok here, don't feel remotely pregnant - if I ignore the bump - but pretty shattered come the end of a long day entertaining DC1. 8pm bedtime beckons :)

Pearlman yes, it IS odd! Glad I'm not going round the twist on this. When I heard I was a bit Hmm but it's second baby so I suppose I mind less. Will the midwife go round taking our BP in turn? will we all listen in to each other's babies?? You do my bump, I'll do yours... Grin All very friendly in north London, doncha know. I'll report back!

Popskipiekin · 05/07/2016 10:24

So... it was a little strange! We all sat round in a circle and went up to have BP done one by one and hand over our pee pots whilst everyone else studiously chatted amongst themselves. Then there was a bit of a Q&A sesh, we had a tour of the birth centre, some advice about whooping cough vaccine and glucose testing, and it all took about an hour and was a bit of a waste of time although I can see for first timers it might have been quite nice and reassuring to have the tour part so early on. But - 2 midwives, only 7 ladies (and their partners! I told DH to stay home for this one), plus the midwives stayed on after to answer questions more privately if you had them, so I'm sure they were both there for 1hr15 at least. Doesn't seem the best use of their time?

How is everyone? I'm a bit worried as I was limping at the weekend and worried spd was coming on really early this time, but it's stopped now. Plus I was in a meeting today and think I definitely felt movement. Maybe Grin

lisacatjohnson · 05/07/2016 10:34

Hi everyone, I'm 18 weeks today and have my scan on Thursday! As it's my first not quite sure what to expect. I know they check for anomalies etc...any helpful tips or questions to take note of?

Thanks Smile

berkshiregirl2016 · 05/07/2016 11:27

Hi lisacat, you're so lucky you're having your scan early! Mine isn't until next Friday, the day I turn 20 weeks - my hospital won't book any earlier than that. Will you find out the sex? I'd also be happy to hear any advice from anyone who has done it before.
Haven't felt movement yet, I don't think, anyone else still waiting. Feeling quite anxious and looking forward to midwife appointment tomorrow to hear heartbeat.

lisacatjohnson · 05/07/2016 11:49

They booked me in early as I'm away on holiday on Friday for a few weeks. I had my midwife appointment last week and sadly they don't listen to the heartbeat in my region (Glasgow) until 22 weeks :(

Hoping to find out the sex but more anxious abut all of the other things they will be checking for...still no movement here either!

berkshiregirl2016 · 05/07/2016 13:40

Ah, makes sense. Good luck with it, I'll be thinking of you. Do let us know how you get on. x

zippy30 · 05/07/2016 14:53

Hello, Another one joining in! I'm 18 weeks pregnant. Got my 20 week scan in 2 weeks & I'm hoping to find out the sex this time if I can. Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok... I felt pretty good from 12-16 weeks but knackered again now. Good luck to the rest of you waiting for the 20 week scan Smile

berkshiregirl2016 · 06/07/2016 15:54

Hi zippy, congrats! When is your due date?
I had a MW appointment this morning and heard the heartbeat, which was really reassuring. I am tired all the time now as well. Still waiting for that glowing feeling that the 2nd trimester is supposed to bring. I just want to sleep all the time, and when I don't want sleep I want food!!

Clarabellehappy76 · 06/07/2016 18:09

Hey ladies...2nd trimester has been quite kind to me so far aside from some ongoing indigestion but I have been feeling this mega tired feeling at the end of the working day over the past week.!! My bed is my friend. Like you all I can't wait for my 20 week scan.😃 I'm nearly 18 weeks and counting the days. The only issue been worrying me is the level of stress in my job and making sure I keep it controlled. I got myself quite stressed yesterday and do work in a demanding environment but over recent months I've made it my focus to ignore all the work crap. I worry about the potential impact on the baby😁 Which also doesn't help 😋 Vicious circle.!! X

zippy30 · 08/07/2016 10:30

Hi berkshiregirl ☺ My due date is 2nd Dec, but I'm having a c-section, so it's likely they'll take me around a week earlier. I can sympathise with the constantly tired & hungry feeling. Amazing to hear baby's heartbeat isn't it ☺
Congrats Clarabellehappy too & hope you keep on top of the work stress. Sometimes I think being pregnant helps you cope with stress better because it puts everything into perspective & you realise your health & your baby's health are the most important things FlowersCake

berkshiregirl2016 · 17/07/2016 18:38

Hi ladies, how is everyone doing? We had our 20 week scan on Friday and found out that we're having a little girl! We're absolutely thrilled, but most importantly, she's looking healthy and growing well. I'm still throwing up every so often and getting the usual growing twinges. Think I'm just starting to feel a bit of movement. Anyone else pregnant with their first and not feeling much?
Good luck with the upcoming scans everyone!

Kajlo · 18/07/2016 08:59

Hi berkshiregirl and all,
I'm 18 + 4 with our first baby and haven't felt any movement at all, which is freaking me out a bit. 20 week scan on the 28th and can't wait to see him/her bouncing around. Midwives in our area don't listen to the heartbeat until week 26.. would have reassured me! Probably overly paniced though as the bump is growing (I think) and I've got sore boobs, headaches, and hunger pangs. Anyone else freaking out or is it just me? Blush And does anyone else freak out a bit when people (friends, colleagues, and people you don't really know) touch the bump? I'm finding it quite awkward... Hope all you yummy mamas to be are doing fab! xx

Youngoldmum · 18/07/2016 23:17

I'm 20 weeks on Friday and getting quite a lot of movement now, but this is baby 2 for me. The movements are very low down indeed, feels very odd but I guess it's just how baby is lying.
My bump is ridiculously big now and yes random people feel it's ok to rub it Hmm
Can't believe how big I am compared with baby 1!
Scan on Friday, not finding out the gender but will be good to see if all is progressing well.
Oh and I finally have some energy back - for now Grin

berkshiregirl2016 · 12/08/2016 13:05

Hello ladies, just checking in to see how everyone is doing?

Popskipiekin · 12/08/2016 13:28

Good good berkshiregirl - you? coming up to 23 weeks, baby boy (our second DS - I'm going to be so outnumbered but can't wait!), all fine but achey in groin/buttocks, hobbling a bit and waking up when I turn over. Mainly good though :) Hope everyone else progressing nicely.

berkshiregirl2016 · 12/08/2016 15:12

Aww, congrats, so exciting! I'm 24 weeks today, been diagnosed with SPD which makes getting around very hard. Started physio and ordered a support belt, which will hopefully provide some comfort. Otherwise all good, DH painted nursery last weekend and we're going to start putting furniture together. Smile

Youngoldmum · 16/08/2016 19:35

Hi everyone. All good here. Still in the happy phase of 2nd tri where I feel quite normal and not too big yet, but getting there. Still have tired days where everything is an effort. I'm 23+4, didn't find out at the scan what we are having which is weird for me as I knew with baby 1! Madly decorating house and getting round to nursery this week. Currently looking at changing my car as I drive a Fiat 500 which I know won't be practical, the cost of a bigger one is crazy though so we'll see.
Baby kicks very strong now and make my whole tummy wobble!
Hope everyone else is well x

Kajlo · 06/10/2016 17:54

Hi everyone - not sure this thread is still on? Anyway, how is everyone doing? We entered week 30 today, yay! I can't wait for the countdown to turn into single figures Smile A fair bit of kicking going on, and the baby seems an OK size, though the mummy came down with gestational diabetes. What rot! No treats! Anyone else with GD on here? Can't wait for it all to be over.... and a large piece of cake, fruit, bread, or anything else that isnt lean meat and veggies! x

Youngoldmum · 10/10/2016 13:06

Hi Kajlo,
I'm still here! 31+3 and feeling huge and tired. The lovely second trimester energy and bloom has definitely left me. Working up to 37 weeks as a teacher and already feeling exhausted. Baby is growing well according to the midwife, but lying transverse at the moment which is very uncomfortable and obviously baby needs to make a move soon!
Hope everyone else is well, not long for us now xx

berkshiregirl2016 · 10/10/2016 14:13

Hi ladies,
Still here too, and 32+3 now! I'm lucky, I don't have gestational diabetes, but the SPD and now lower back ache are really getting to me. Having trouble with deep breaths at the moment as well. I put this down to baby on my diaphragm, but I've had blood taken to see if I'm anaemic as apparently this can make it worse. The joys of late pregnancy! Feeling massive and exhausted too. So much so that I've brought my mat leave forward a week so I finish in two weeks time - can't wait!

Youngoldmum, my baby is also transverse, though I have another scan on Wednesday and hope she might have moved. There's still time though. One thing I've been put off of is having Drs attempt to move her as I've been told it can cause the cord to get caught, is pretty painful and only about 50% chance of success.

I've been going to pregnancy yoga classes, which are brilliant. Trying to practice breathing, etc, but have a feeling it might all go out of the window when it comes to labour - anyone else feeling pretty scared???

Kajlo, can you have diabetic chocolate, things like that? Not the same, I'm sure.

Hope you ladies are all doing well, the end is finally in sight, when we get to meet our little bundles :) xx

lilhen · 10/10/2016 15:26

Hi all, I'm 31+6, I can't believe how quickly this third trimester has come around. After a fairly uneventful start to the pregnancy, I've since found out I have Strep B, baby is breach and she's going to be BIG!

I'm also not keen on the idea of doctors manually turning...I feel like if she doesn't move then perhaps she is in that position for a reason. This however, would mean having a section which we learned about in my antenatal class on Saturday...how anyone could ever call it "the easy option" I've no idea, terrifying!

I'm starting to feel pretty scared berkshiregirl2016!
