Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

Kajilo - thanks so much for the advice, the media coverage is definitely adding fuel to the fire in terms of high anxieties, so I really appreciate some pragmatic advice! I will definitely cover up and religiously use mozzie spray to be on the safe side. We booked our trip before I became pregnant and I've been an exhausted mess this week so will be interesting to see how I hold up in the big apple!

Rachwyso · 21/05/2016 22:38

Its with a very heavy heart i write this post. Back to a&e today with really bad cramping - my cervix was found to be slightly open and was told to go home and rest and wait til my emergency scan (which is monday). Tonight i have had a big bleed.

I wish u all the best of luck, and pray you all have wonderful pregnancys and beautiful babies at the end, sadly this is where my pregnancy journey ends

CupidsArrows · 22/05/2016 09:31

Aw Rach I'm so sorry Flowers

I've had a bit of bleeding this pregnancy and have a scan tomorrow too. Extremely nervous.

Rachwyso · 22/05/2016 10:02

my scan will just to be check for 'retained products' i hate how clinical and uncaring it all sounds. My heart is literally breaking

I hope your scan goes well try and relax a little bleeding is common and on its own nothing to worry about im sure

CupidsArrows · 22/05/2016 10:05

You're right it does sound very uncaring.

I remember being so upset about the term "spontaneous abortion" when I had a MMC. I hope you have lots of RL support right now.

berkshiregirl2016 · 22/05/2016 17:45

Rach, I'm so deeply sorry to hear your news. I fully appreciate how devastating being in that situation is. Wishing you all the very best and sending hugs x

berkshiregirl2016 · 22/05/2016 17:51

Kittyscot, I wrote to travelpharm on the advice of the nurse at my gp, and the pharmacist said that repellant containing no more than 50% deer is recommended. He also said that citronella is no longer advised and has been taken out of the European market. I had already told him that I'll be 15 weeks when I travel.
Thought you might find this helpful x

Kajlo · 23/05/2016 07:22

Oh no Rach, so sorry Sad Flowers - yes it is very uncaring language, quite shocking really. I hope you are given lots of support and wish you all the best x

Vb87 · 23/05/2016 07:32

Rach - I'm so sorry, sending you lots of love Flowers

lisacatjohnson · 23/05/2016 10:36

I'm so sorry to hear that Rach, thinking of you.

Rachwyso · 23/05/2016 11:37

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts

kittyscot81 · 23/05/2016 19:22

Rachwyso Sorry for your loss, must be devastating.

kittyscot81 · 23/05/2016 19:24

berkshiregirl thank you, interrogated a boots employee yesterday who told me there were no suitable sprays for pregnant women so this is very helpful! I think she didn't know so was playing it safe.

berkshiregirl2016 · 23/05/2016 19:51

Kitty I found exactly the same. Thought I'd double check as I was about to buy sprays and the pharmacist in Boots hadn't a clue! I also read in papers from the midwife that you should take a thrush type cream away just in case as you're prone to infections in pregnancy. Pharmacist said they can't even sell them to you over the counter!

How is everyone doing today?

lisacatjohnson · 24/05/2016 12:21

I just had my 12 week scan very surreal, but all looks well Smile . Feel much more relaxed now and will start telling a few people. We even got a wee wave and it was jumping about. I think people are going to think I'm crazy, we have moved house, got married and now pregnant in the space of three months...and we're getting a kitten (we already have a dog) in a few weeks too...and I was looking forward to relaxing after a year and a half of wedding planning haha.

Hope you are all well!

lovewatchingrainfall · 24/05/2016 15:23

Afternoon lovely people. Have posted a few times. I'm due the 19/20th December with my second child. I am still in a bit of shock as not planning on any more. Anyway had a phone call today from the hospital saying I need to go for a scan on Thursday I will be 10+5ish as my blood tests where high. I have had a couple of problems so far as in appendix playing up and pain in my right side and also bloodied discharge. I'm scared why they are calling me in. Still not got a date for my 12week scan but have a date for my 20week as this will be done at a different hospital. Not sure what the point of this long post was just needed to let it out. x Hope all is okay with everyone else.

CupidsArrows · 24/05/2016 18:28

After the bleeding and pains we were over the moon to see this healthy happy baby yesterday Smile

December due date buddies!
berkshiregirl2016 · 24/05/2016 20:01

Congrats ladies on your scans, so exciting! I had mine yesterday too and, although it was my 7th, this was official and so the milestone we were waiting to get to as never got that far before. He/she was lying on their back with head still and bottom moving up and down. So funny! Amazing experience and finally allowing ourselves to get excited. Due date moved from 4th Dec to 2nd so we're right on track.

Lovewatching, thinking of you and hoping all is well x

CupidsArrows · 24/05/2016 20:31

That's brilliant 😊 Congratulations x

Vb87 · 27/05/2016 17:22

Finally got a scan booked, 13 days and counting GrinGrin

How is everyone?

berkshiregirl2016 · 27/05/2016 20:09

That's great news, Vb87, how are you feeling?
Haven't thrown up in almost a week now so feeling positive, just a bit nauseous still. Got our report back following bloods at nuchal scan and we're low risk for Downs, etc, so all looking good.

How's everyone else? Hope you all have a restful bank holiday.

lovewatchingrainfall · 30/05/2016 21:44

How is everyone doing? Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday

Any one have any ideas how to get comfy in bed? I can't lay on my left as it hurts my right is okay for a short time, struggle to breath laid on my back due to asthma. I feel like giving up and sleeping standing up!

On a plus note am 11+4 days. Have my 12week scan on the 7th however have been told that they don't give out photos at the scan and if I want one I need to wait till my 20week scan.

Youngoldmum · 30/05/2016 21:49

I have found a pillow between my knees really helps to get comfy sleeping on my side, I remember from baby 1 though, sleeping just gets more and more uncomfortable as the weeks go by!! I'll be 12 weeks on Thursday, queasiness seems to be subsiding but still feeling very tired. X

Vb87 · 02/06/2016 18:41

Berkshiregirl - sorry for the late reply, it's been a busy half term. I'm starting to feel better, the nausea is gradually getting less and less.

I have my first scan next week and although I'm excited I am so nervous. I keep having dreams that when they do the scan, nothing will be there Sad is it normal to be scared?
