Hi Girls

We found out on Good Friday that we're expecting our first child and we won't be telling our parents for a few weeks so for now I thought it was worth starting a thread so I've got a place to get excited about all things baby with people due at a similar time - without chewing DH's ear off about it constantly. Bless him he's excited too but I seem to want to talk about nothing else right now which is hard seeing as we're the only ones that know our little secret!

My EDD is 2nd December according to the NHS website which makes me 4+5, and I've got my first doctors appointment this Friday. I understand they won't really do or say a lot but think they'll refer me to the midwife? Or do I do that myself?? Anyway, I'm excited!!!

Hope everyone's feeling good and upbeat, looking forward to some due date buddies to chat to Smile

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and still not heard from the midwife or got a scan appointment. I rang the Drs last week and they said I'm being processed. Should I ring again and see what's going on?

Helbelle75 · 10/05/2016 11:23

I thnk I look really bloated - someone's just run up to me in the staff room to tell me how great and 'slimline' I look!
Just had another mini breakdown at work, I need to tell them soon, as I'm just being a weirdo at the moment.
I would ring again I think vb. You need to get booked in for a scan really. I think often the professionals dealing with us forget that they do this every day and know the processes, how long it takes etc, whereas we don't and it's possibly the most important thing to ever happen to us, so they should really give us a lot more information I think.

Minispringroll · 10/05/2016 12:04

Got some of the Kopparberg's last week but haven't tried them, yet. I like a nice bottle of cider in the summer...To be fair, some nice lemonade would be ok as well.

At the moment, I'm off sick at home. My cold is really annoying and the pharmacy won't sell me anything. Confused So I'm at home in bed, trying to console myself with hot water with lemon and honey. I've also made some saline solution for my nose since it's been really blocked up and I couldn't breathe. Sad My head feels like it's going to explode soon...
Rugby Haven't thrown up over any books, yet. Grin I needed to take breaks quite regularly. Nausea mixed with cold symptoms is not an enjoyable experience.

Vb Have they been able to tell you when your appointment is meant to be? Our midwive doesn't seem to see anyone before 10 weeks.

Vb87 · 10/05/2016 12:28

No, all they said was "your being processed".

I had a kopparberg last night and it was soooo good, tasted no different to the alcoholic version. Can see this being my summer drink!

Rugby01 · 10/05/2016 21:57

minispring - oh sorry you're feeling so ill. That's no fun. I hope it's starts to ease off soon. How far gone are you? I'm 10+6 tomorrow and the nausea has definitely eased off for me. Though the tiredness has got worse! vb - sounds very frustrating with your health authority. As helbelle says, getting them to realise you are a person who needs to feel reassured is hard work! I hope you get a solid answer soon. It's not really good enough to leave you hanging.

I'm currently contemplating whether to go on a hen weekend in early June - is there any point when I don't know most of the ladies and it will cost me loads of money and I can't even drink and will be asleep by 9pm!? lovewatching - seems you have a trickier problem with the wedding though! No advice except floaty dresses?!

Someone said about digestion earlier - I am struggling there too... I read kiwi fruit helps but I don't know!

bumbleclat · 10/05/2016 22:03

rugby I would definitely decline the very un tempting hen night invitation can't think of anything worse

I managed to stay at school until half five and get loads of assessment done thank god.

Hoping I can sleep tonight everything's do much harder when tired.

Nausea hadn't been as bad today worry worry but my boobs are Humungous Shock

Kajlo · 11/05/2016 07:22

Rugby I'd definitely turn down that hen do - doesn't sound worth it if you hardly know anyone and can't drink. I'm sure they'll understand when they know you're pregnant.

Lovewatching, I went to someone's 60th B-day do two weeks ago, bloated to death and ready for maternity wear - but found a "normal" dress that did the trick! Will also be worn for a number of weddings this summer: www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-hatty-drape-dress-blue-steel/p2533079 Hourglass shape and creases in the right places did the trick.. one size up made it even better. Hope you'll have a good time

Vb87 · 11/05/2016 07:42

I'm on a hen do weekend the first weekend in June, I am one of the bridesmaids and have helped organise the whole thing. It was all booked before I knew I was pregnant. I'm looking forward to it though, and my best friend (whose hen do it is) knows I'm pregnant so understands why I have turned down some of the activities. I'm sure the sight of her going out dressed as a traffic cone will spur me on Grin

Vb87 · 11/05/2016 07:44

Minispringroll have you tried using steam for your blocked nose? With a few drops of Albas oil or vix. Nothing worse than not being able to breathe, hope your feeling better soon Flowers

Minispringroll · 11/05/2016 10:46

Rugby I'm 9+3. My nausea has been really mild so far,...but it comes and goes and mixed with the coughing and sneezing and sore throat and headache, it just was a bit much. Smile Feeling better today already.

Vb Thanks, I've had a bath and that's helped a little. However, the saline solution was probably the best idea so far. It doesn't taste nice, if you accidently swallow a little, but it does the trick.

Off work today again but I think I'll be going back tomorrow. Still a little wobbly, but hopefully will be ok once I'm busy.

Rachwyso · 11/05/2016 11:06

Im due 24dec2016!! I am so overly anxious its ridiculous!!

This is baby number 3 for me (dd almost 12, ds 6- ds has Down syndrome, adhd and autism) but this is my DPs 1st!

I had hyperemisis in both other pregnancies but So far i have had no real pregnancy symptoms this time around apart from alot of pain i had an early scan earlier this week lil bean is measuring 7wks to my estimated 7wks 2days (she said 2days was neither here nor there as lmp was a lil all over the place) and saw a strong heartbeat, but today woken with pulling and pain again. Im just so completely petrified something bad will happen im going out of my mind. I never worried like this on previous 2 (even after being told DS was high risk of having downs).

Big hugs to all the other ladies due in dec2016 hope your all feeling less worried than me coz this is horrendous!!

ermmm · 11/05/2016 14:24

Just back from a private scan. Feel at ease having seen the little heart flutter.
Woke up really anxious and worried so called and booked straight away
.. According to scan I'm now 8weeks1 so due date is adjusted to 20th December 2016.

Vb87 · 11/05/2016 17:14

I've come home to a letter from the midwife (finally). Booking appointment is 23rd may, I'll be 10+5 so hopefully they'll be able to make me a scan appointment then too Smile

Rugby01 · 11/05/2016 17:27

vb - great news!! At last!

bumbleclat · 11/05/2016 18:30

Hillarious- I just went to type, 'This Morning' into the search bar on YouTube because I was searching for Kerry Katona interview Blush and when I pressed return I realised I'd typed morning sickness instead!

44PumpLane · 11/05/2016 19:02

Rach I've just been for my booking in today and they told me my expected due date was 24th as well!! (The Internet is telling me it should be 22nd Dec)!
Just have to wait for a letter for a scan now which should be another 3-6 weeks as I'm 7+6 now.

Rugby01 · 12/05/2016 13:28

How is everyone today? Cancelled the hen do - phew! I am not a close friend of the betrothed so it's a relief. I find I get really emotional the day after one of those nights where you just can't get to sleep - you know, as you're hungry, uncomfortable, need the loo the whole time.... Anyone else get that very emotional when really tired?

rach congratulations. And ermm must be so nice to see these things on an early scan! I am sometimes not even convinced there's anything going on in there!!

Helbelle75 · 12/05/2016 15:49

I'm not as tired today. Spent the rest of this week being completely exhausted. Had to leave ballet class early on Tuesday as I was so tired (my fault - I tried to go back to pointe and it takes a lot of energy!). Was convinced yesterday that I wouldn't be at work today as I felt so bad, but feel a bit more energised today.
Glad you've cancelled the hen do rugby. We have a party next weekend that we committed to ages ago, but I just don't feel like it. Am tempted to cancel that. I'm just emotional full stop, but yes more so when tired.
Rach - hello! This is my first pregnancy and completely get the constantly worried thing. I can't wait for my scan (10 days!).

lisacatjohnson · 12/05/2016 16:34

hi Hellbelle75 10 days to my scan too...and terrified! My first too Smile

When are you due? I still don't feel very pregnant other than being tired...I know I shouldn't wish for symptoms but think you just imagine feeling more different.

Not sure how I'm going to tell my boss yet, I'm on a fixed term contract for three years, started last summer so don't think they'll be very happy with me taking a year out of three!

Helbelle75 · 12/05/2016 16:46

Hi lisa I'm due 8th December. I'm tired, sore boobs, but that's about it really.
I only started my job last June, so I'm not sure they'll be delighted with me! I have told my line manager and she was pleased, but have yet to tell my department and the rest of my colleagues.

Rachwyso · 12/05/2016 17:15

Hi helbelle75 this is my 3rd baby im glad im not the only ridiculously anxious one!
Congratulations and best wishes for your scan i dont have a scan booked until 13th june ( i already had an early scan this week ) but that reassured me for all of 24hrs. I just cant wait to pass the 12 wk stage.

berkshiregirl2016 · 12/05/2016 17:40

Hi ladies, it's been a few days. Have literally been too tired to bother picking up my phone. Didn't throw up yesterday for the first time in ages. Night sweats and dreams are getting really tiresome now though. I've been living on apples, dried apricots, ice lollies and ribena. Just starting to manage to sip water and not bring it up!

How's everyone doing? Not long until nuchal scans for us all now. I had my 5th scan this Monday and saw movement, which was beautiful. After losing three babies last year I'm gradually allowing myself to believe that it might finally happen. Some of my colleagues suspected I'd had another miscarriage after being signed off with hyperemesis for 2 weeks. I really wanted to put them straight but just said it was likely a virus. I'm working reduced hours for a while now, the commute into London can be a killer.

Rachwyso · 12/05/2016 20:09

Oh berkshiregirl you have all my sympathy. I had hyperemisis in my 1st and 2nd pregnancy. My 1st was horrendous and i lost 4 stones in the 1st 5months!

Hope it passes soon for you

Youngoldmum · 13/05/2016 06:40

Has anyone else found their sickness has subsided around 9 weeks? I only had queasiness and was never actually sick but felt close to it all day, it's now so much milder but I thought it would ease off later than 9 weeks. So hard not to worry!

Vb87 · 13/05/2016 07:31

Youngoldmum- I'm 9+1 and my nausea is definitely wearing off. I haven't actually been sick, just felt sick most of the day and more around food from around 5 weeks. I still have hints of nausea but it's noticeably less the last few days.
