Hi, I'm bored, sat on mumsnet or googling every symptom and trump. I'm 37+4 and it is my third and final. I know I should be enjoying every last kick and lightning bolt to the cervix, just feeling it is quite a big mountain to climb. Dd's were 40+3 and 40+ 6 and this is a boy. How is everyone else doing? WHAT are you doing? I am busy grumping at dh and pinteresting healthy post natal things whilst eating Easter eggs...

Congratulations LBOC! Awful about having such a scary end to a great labour, I'm terrified of a GA. But you sound really positive, well done!

Dolly try calling the La Leche League helpline 0845 120 2918, all fully accredited breastfeeding supporters, all mums. See if they have any advice for you maybe, or can suggest how to get someone qualified to come out and help you.

applecatchers36 · 20/04/2016 09:53

Congratulations LBOC Flowers

Our DS arrived yesterday after 4 hour labour at home, lovley peaceful delivery. Midwives were amazing.

lozengeoflove · 20/04/2016 10:04

Fab news apple. Finally the babies are arriving. Send us all some of that baby dust please. Perhaps not today - Hitler and Napoleon's birthday. Baby would be destined to become a despot of sorts Grin

crumblybiscuits · 21/04/2016 13:08

My DD arrived on the 13th after being induced at 38+5, weighing 7lb 7oz. Another very short induction where I only needed one pessary before going into labour. She managed to keep us all on our toes as she was an unexpected face presentation and we had the alarm bells rung and about 12 doctors running in to look at my fanjo. Managed to push her out in five minutes though after being threatened with an episiotomy and didn't even tear Grin
Really nervous about DP going back to work next week and managing breastfeeding and my 3yo.

LBOCS2 · 21/04/2016 14:50

Ahh, congrats Crumbly and Apple, the babies are finally making their appearances!

To be honest, having a GA was preferable to what was happening, which was the consultant trying to get her whole hand into my uterus to stop the bleeding - with no pain relief. At that point it was very much the lesser of two evils!

I'm feeling much better than I was a couple of days ago though, we're settling back into the swing of things. 3yo DD is an extremely possessive big sister!

waxweasel · 21/04/2016 17:30

Congratulations to all with new babies! So exciting to see them all arriving safely 😊

STILL pregnant here...I might now be the latest person left?? By scan dates I'm 42 weeks today. I've had a nightmare couple of weeks with NHS midwives ramping up the pressure to start meddling and booking dates for induction (starting the hassling before I was even overdue!). I know my stuff, I've read all the academic research going, and am opting to wait rather than be induced. As is my right. Despite us making a formal complaint and getting an apology and agreement to leave me alone, they engaged in some seriously dodgy coercion to try and break me down and get me to go along with it, so we so we ended up disengaging from them entirely and hiring an independent midwife.

New midwide is utterly wonderful, and also says my due date is wrong and is actually 11th april. So still overdue, but not by as much - 41+3 today. Fingers crossed the wait doesn't go on too much longer though!

crumblybiscuits · 21/04/2016 17:31

Jeez LBOC, definitely the lesser of two evils! Glad you are feeling better and congratulations! My 3yo DD likes to sing Let It Go to the baby every time she cries. It's an interesting addition to the crying to say the least.

ComeLuckyApril · 21/04/2016 18:49

41+5 here, started the induction process but nothing doing so far - unfavourable cervix, awaiting next pessary, very bored in antenatal!

InFrance2014 · 22/04/2016 19:49

41 w today, had monitoring, nothing doing. They won't do a sweep as placenta is low-lying, too risky apparently. In theory I've got 6 days to shift baby before induction, but not sure if they will do that either, or opt straight for CS at that point.
Slightly nervous despite baby being fine, lots of fluid still, as people keep commenting she is big, and I know big baby and low placenta might be a bad combo.
Holding on with the rest of you!

Reebok · 22/04/2016 20:44

Congrats to all with the babies!! Hope you're enjoying cuddles. I'm
So jealous!!

Had another day of contractions...coming no closer than 5 minutes apart but painful enough to make me cry/scream. Plus lovely vomiting. I feel so down like this baby will never arrive. 39 weeks today. It's my birthday tomorrow...some great day it will be with me feeling like this. Sorry for the rant, fx there will be more babies on the thread soon!

waxweasel · 22/04/2016 22:11

Oh Reebok I'd been wondering how you were...when I saw your username I really hoped that you'd finally got somewhere and had the baby. So sorry to hear that you're still struggling with the ongoing contractions and general misery.

On the plus side, lots of people have told me that the more 'warm up' BH contractions you have in the run up to going into labour, the quicker and easier your labour tends to be. I hope that's the case for you - you've certainly earned it!

lozengeoflove · 23/04/2016 08:14

Baby lozenge has finally made an appearance this morning at 2.30 am after a very short labour. Was induced twelve hours before contractions started, but once they did it was all over before it began.

Three pushes, only twenty minutes of gas and air and now one very gorgeous baby to cuddle. The wait was worth it.

Wishing you all speedy deliveries. Let's meet some more babies this week!

Wait4nothing · 23/04/2016 10:15

Congratulations lozenge - hope you and your baby are doing well!

I'm 39+2 and already going mad. So tired of being pregnant with all its associated symptoms! I have a sweep booked for 40w which seems like forever away. Not even fully engaged yet. I've spent hours in my ball and walking, every meal has been spicy and even managed some sex (which is rather difficult with the bump and backache!). Just come now baby!

Reebok · 23/04/2016 11:55

Thanks wax. Having a really crap birthday! Didn't sleep last night...contractions 5 minutes apart. Stopped but dd woke up at 6.30...contractions been carrying on but doubt anything will happen. Keep feeling like I need to poop but nothing happens - sorry tmi! I had same with dd in labour but I've been feeling like this at least a week or so I'm assuming baby is pushing down. So exhausted and oh is working today so not much of a birthday. My sister is coming to take me and dd out to lunch but in all honesty I just want rest. Sorry for the rant. Just so down...39+1. Waitfornothing I sympathize!

Lozenge congrats Hun. Enjoy baby cuddles xx

waxweasel · 23/04/2016 12:11

Oh that sounds shit 😞 Happy birthday nonetheless. Could your sister just bring you some chocolate and cake and take DD out on her own, leaving you at home to sleep? That sounds better!

Congratulations lozenge! Xx

Reebok · 23/04/2016 12:36

Thanks wax. No she's got a young baby herself so wouldn't be able to handle dd as well who is a right handful at the monent.

To be honest she's being quite sweet as knows I'm down...not been able to do much with constant contractions for weeks and my friends are all busy with work/life. So I've been down in the dumps.

InFrance2014 · 23/04/2016 15:46

Reebok Flowers Star Flowers Star

Congratulations Lozenge! I'm scared I'll be induced, nice to read a positive story!

Some very strong BH/actual mildly painful contractions over past 2 days but not regular. Getting lots of work done however, at the moment managing to type on laptop by sitting on the birthing ball and using bed as a desk. No ideal but the more I do now, the longer time I'll have to indulge in baby once she arrives. Freaking out a bit to be honest.
Feeling pressure down below quite often after I get up from sitting down for a while, so hoping this is good sign, but no idea how dilated I am, no sign of plug... and no info yet on what policy will be from hospital about induction or not. Ah well, back in again tomorrow for monitoring, can ask then.

Howtocatchastar · 24/04/2016 10:43

My little ds arrived two days ago, induced at 39 weeks - one pessary, two hours later in full blown labour and he born shortly afterwards - no interventions thankfully, just gas and air...it was very, very fast considering my first birth was 3 days of labour. Good luck to those still waiting, it won't be long now!

waxweasel · 25/04/2016 06:03

I FINALLY HAVE A BABY!

She was born at home as planned, 13 days over (or 17 by original dates!) but it was so insanely fast there was no time to fill the pool or use any of my box of stuff! She came at 11.32 weighing 9lbs 6oz - back to back, and turned 360 degrees while crowning. Midwife said she'd never seen anything like it! I did the whole thing just with tens machine and - crucially - without waking DD1 in the next room! I have a second degree tear but genuinely didn't/can't feel it.

Her name is Juliette Lucia - we are calling her Lettie for short 😊 Or lettuce, if you're DD (who woke at 2 and is now eating my labour snacks and refusing to sleep. She has been AMAZING. She is only 2.10 but she helped me to the toilet, stroked me while I tried to wee, and then brought me a new maternity pad and changed it for me. And wiped up her sister's meconium and put her nappy on!)

blueandgreendots · 25/04/2016 08:28

Congratulations star and wax! Great news about the home birth (I want one too so love positive outcome stories).

I'm 40+4 now and had a sleepless night worrying about reduced movements. I rang maternity assessment and was advised to drink ice water then lie on my left side to count movementskip for an hour. After that I did have 15 kicks but I'm still not reassured about their quality and intensity. I'm going to go in and get a CTG or I won't be able to set my mind at rest.

Good luck to all those still in the waiting club.
