Hi, I'm bored, sat on mumsnet or googling every symptom and trump. I'm 37+4 and it is my third and final. I know I should be enjoying every last kick and lightning bolt to the cervix, just feeling it is quite a big mountain to climb. Dd's were 40+3 and 40+ 6 and this is a boy. How is everyone else doing? WHAT are you doing? I am busy grumping at dh and pinteresting healthy post natal things whilst eating Easter eggs...

Can I join 40+1 with dc2 and feeling fed up today.. DD is on school holidays and trying to keep her entertained while symptom watching and struggling with SPD is hard!

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 16:07

indomitable glad yours felt nicer than mine. Not sure what I was expecting to be honest.

Did you find out if you are dilated at all? I'm apparently 2cm dilated but long and soft. Can't make out her writing about effacement.

LBOCS2 · 29/03/2016 16:10

.

I'm 38+3 with no 2, and I'm DONE. Her head is engaged, I'm all crampy (autocorrect thinks cranky; that too!) and twingy, and I've started to waddle because she's so low. As of tomorrow I will be the most pregnant I've ever been as I was induced at 38+3 last time, so I'm starting to get impatient. We're pretty much ready and I don't want to leave it too long as I have been signed off for the MLU this time around - I had preeclampsia last time and don't want to give it a chance to develop!

Still haven't packed my bloody hospital bag though...

IndomitabIe · 29/03/2016 16:22

1cm dilated, 2cm long but very soft. Apparently.

Little bit achey now, but could be wishful thinking.

confusedlily, I'll not be impressed if all the Aprilites produce before me too! (I was on the April 2011 group with DS, but his due date got moved forward to March. It was nice being at the front of a group. Not so much the end of one!)

namaste30 · 29/03/2016 16:26

Chatty! We sound very similar! Mine were 8lb1 and 8lb 6 so they adjust it! Great news that you have been discharged too- just keeping away from the doctors is a good thing unless there is any reason to need them! I think you replied to my sga question a few weeks ago.. Thanks! So- what is everyone doing? I am watching Shaun the sheep movie with the girls as dh has gone biking ( teacher) going to swim tonight. I'm still working a bit- to keep my mind off it! I am a dentist- loved telling a patient that I am due in 2 weeks during an extraction this morning :-) can't be bothered with the house- I think I have a couple of weeks as I couldn't be further from 'nesting!!'

Hi, hope ok to join in.

I'm almost 37 weeks and done
3rd baby but massive measuring from scans and I'm small.

I feel so guilty saying it but this end of pregnancy malarkey isn't fun!

LittleTalks · 29/03/2016 16:33

chatty my bum feels weird too! God knows what is going on. Just back from another sweep, 2cm dilated, "I'm just running my fingers over your baby's head" - very weird. I'm determined to try and sit down as little as possible this evening. Fingers crossed...

confusedlilly · 29/03/2016 16:36

I'm hoping I will get a sweep on Thursday. I had a different midwife last time and she said I would get one so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I highly doubt I will have a baby before then.

Dellabob123 · 29/03/2016 16:48

I've just been to get chocolate, had a nap and waiting to pick dd2 from nursery. I know I ought to bouncing like crazy on the ball but veggin on my backside is much nicer!

seven dd2 was absolutely fine, no issue with the 19 day delay at all. I was very adamant though. But, that will not be happening again. I'm so swollen now, and have killer carpal tunnel-anyone else suffering with that? Any hints to alleviate?

chatty and indomitable well done sweeps, here's hoping for movement soon. Hope mine is a success tomorrow.

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 16:52

little hopefully a weird feeling bum will mean we have our babies very soon.

One can hope anyway.

della hope your sweep goes ok tomorrow.

zannyminxoxox · 29/03/2016 16:52

39+5 here had a sweep at 39 weeks was fully effaced and 1-2 cm although cervix posterior. Tired of waiting and symptom spotting now. I am being induced hopefully next monday if they have beds so Im classing that as my due date. I just can't wait to meet my little boy and have all this pregnancy malarky over with

IndomitabIe · 29/03/2016 16:55

Is it wrong that I'm disappointed that my bum feels normal?!

Della, I've sat on my arse/napped for 4 days since finishing work. I've now hoisted myself into the ball in the hope that it, combined with the sweep, produces a baby.

Dolly80 · 29/03/2016 17:06

I'm 38 +5 and feeling over it with this pregnancy, I'm swollen, achy and grumpy! Still, I've resigned myself to the fact that I might go over (had first at 40 + 5)

Have a sweep booked for Thursday (there are some issues with baby and consultant wants to avoid me being overdue) Not looking forward to it...currently wondering if I can will baby out within the next 48 hrs to avoid Grin

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 17:48

Indomitable Its not a nice feeling I'm too scared too trump incase baby comes falling out or something..

Not enjoying the extra nastiness when wiping its like a really weird slow show just bits that are red/tinged red but I'm guessing that's normal she did not really explain too much other than to make sure I'm still feeling baby and too expect my bloody show. My other two have been completely natural spontaneous labours and I didn't have a show with my last one and with my first it was pretty much one wipe and done with.

LBOCS2 · 29/03/2016 18:02

At what point are you all being offered sweeps? I've got my 38w appt on Thursday and I'm tempted to ask for one but it's with my GP... Do they even do them?!

Squaffle · 29/03/2016 18:04

Ooh can I join too? Am 40+5 and baby is showing no sign of going anywhere! Looks like our March baby will be born in April. Head is barely 1/5 engaged, still very high up, and midwife said there was no point in doing a sweep (didn't mind as wasn't particularly keen). Have an appointment on Monday to book an induction. This is my first baby so who knows what will happen, but I have a feeling we'll end up with induction. At this point I don't really care, I just want to meet him/her! We live with MIL who is like a tightly-coiled spring and jumps every time I move, so I doubt there'll be enough oxytocin to start things naturally Wink. Good luck to you all and so grateful for this thread; thanks OP! x

emmac3616 · 29/03/2016 18:04

I am having a sweep tomorrow at 39 weeks... I feel like I'm losing my mind... awful leg cramp / Braxton Hicks but not regular, feel sick / nauseous, have period type pains... my son came at 40+4 after a sweep at 40+3 but I think that worked because he was ready to come out... not sure it will be the same tomorrow... I don't think I'll cope if she says cervix is not favourable! Genuinely, I feel on the verge of spinning out about it and I'm not even at my DD, now panicking that they will let me go 2 weeks over... my son had an enormous head and we had every intervention going to get him out (and it still hurts to poo 2 years later!)... THIS IS NO FUN! Thank God its Easter and I can gorge on all of DS's Easter Eggs!

Anyone else had a successful sweep at 39 weeks?!

Good luck to you all - I can only empathise! :-)

IndomitabIe · 29/03/2016 18:10

LBOC I looked up the efficacy, and the Royal college of midwives How To guide recommends from 40 weeks. Here they don't bother till 41 though.

Chattymummyhere · 29/03/2016 18:13

LBOC I was told I could have one from 40w, I was going to have one yesterday at 40+1 but my midwife refused as she was concerned about my fundal height/lower end of scale fluids until I had seen a consultant. My consultant signed me off today and I got my sweep today. No idea if it will work but I thought it was worth a shot.

Dolly80 · 29/03/2016 18:14

I found the following on a midwifery site online re: success rate of membrane sweeps:

"The review found that overall the intervention is associated with a 24% increase in chance of delivering within 48 hours, a 46% increase in chance of delivering within a week and a 74% reduction in likelihood of going 2 weeks over dates"

Dolly80 · 29/03/2016 18:16

I'm only having one at 39 weeks due to baby having additional issues. Consultant recommended it and when he left the room the midwife told me that he 'favours' induction for pregnancies where there have been 'issues' With my first pregnancy, I was due to be offered one at 41 weeks but delivered naturally 2 days earlier

IndomitabIe · 29/03/2016 18:29

Thanks Dolly, I'd seen that and then immediately forgotten!

almmummy · 29/03/2016 20:25

Ooh I had forgotten about oxytocin supposedly triggering labour - lots of cuddling DD1 tomorrow (if I can bear her jumping all over my bump)

SevenOhTwo · 29/03/2016 20:48

Exciting that there's so many people on the thread - so many thread babies to come, and sounds like there's quite a few could be very soon!

This is the first evening in many days that I haven't fallen asleep immediately after putting kids to bed, so I think I might finally be getting over the virus I had a couple of weeks back, yay! Unfortunately DP and DD are both now ill with sore throats and temperatures. Feeling bad for DD not getting a very exciting Easter hols.

Having a bit more energy is making me start to think about things I need to do again... Really need to check if we'll get three car seats in the car, or need to find thinner ones. And need to find an Alan key to dismantle the cot and rebuild in the right room. And pack the hospital bag...

What I'm actually doing, instead of any of that, is watching Gardeners World and eating leftover apple crumble Grin

ComeLuckyApril · 29/03/2016 20:57

Can I join? On the April thread which is so quiet I've given up and I don't like sharing tmi on the Facebook group. 38+3, due 9th April. No real symptoms to spot but I'm doing my best. Been having mild period pain on and off for a couple of weeks which I think is just Braxton Hicks.

There is so much to do, that I'm not really ready for baby. But I'm so so uncomfortable that I really want something to happen sooner rather than later. My pelvis is sore and I'm all stiff in one hip so I can hardly walk, I've carpal tunnel, so not getting any of that batch cooking done, and I'm not sleeping much so very grouchy!

I'll be offered my first sweep on 12th April - so far away, hopefully I won't need it. Secretly set my heart on her arriving 2nd April.
