Hi Derlor! welcome to this tread!

Want to say thank you to you all for giving me suggestions!!! one good thing about this website is that you get to ask ppl for their honest advice..not just about pregnancy, birth but loads more as well!! thanks! we indeed have a lot of nice ppl on this thread!....still dont know if we are going to Asia style or Abode though...i fancy Asia food cos really miss the food.

BEGEMOTH · 23/02/2007 15:51

OK. Thanks all, for the advice and confirmation.

That's what I'll have to do, I'll get DH to keep a packet of glucose sweeties on him. And a bottle of ribena. It all seems a bit like being back at school having to sneak in treats.

LOL at prospect of baby eating. Thanks Derlor.

Vio: Can vouch for Asia Style too. My friend from Brunei says it's very close to Malaysian cuisine. I just think it's very tasty. And free tea too.

I went to a restaurant called Catch 22 on Bath Street for DH's birthday last month and it was very nice. Lots of variety on the menu. Great service. (But would definitely ask for a booth in order not to be stuck out in main thoroughfare.)

By the way I will be at the yoga class at Balance too, if I remember. I've certainly booked it, I went to the 14 weeks and over class last year, but kept leaving the house too late to get there in time. When I did make it, it was great for relaxing. And I think I'll get more out of it, now I'm enormous.

lazyemma · 23/02/2007 16:39

yes, I think the food at Asia Style is supposed to be both Chinese and Malaysian influenced. The menu and specials board is in Chinese and English. I forgot about the free tea, too: yum!

midnightexpress · 23/02/2007 16:41

Begemoth - also my experience has been that they won't let you eat and drink in case you need an anaesthetic (this is at Southern General). We went in to have DS2 armed with all sorts of treats and juice and then the mw told me I could only have sips of water. But the tea and toast is the best EVER at the end of it (though as derlor says, could have done with a whole loaf rather than 2 slices by then). The contractions should take your mind off it though .

Am so jealous of you yoga ladies ...I sent Maureen a pic of Jacob yesterday - I've been seeing rather a lot of that pregnancy class over the last couple of years! Hope to get the all clear at 6-week check soon and be back to Sat morning yoga soooon.

Anjo's gone a bit quiet....fingers crossed.

Anjo1 · 23/02/2007 19:34

hello everyone!
I'm afraid the silence has nought to do with this baby coming out, just had loads to do with still getting the house sorted out.
went and had an hour long reflexology session this afternoon , brilliant suggestion that , It was lovely , don't really have hopes of it bringing the labour on but it was blissfuly relaxing love it !! so cheers for that one Loulee
hope you are all well

Hi yoga buffs,
I will be wearing big T shirt with female form kind of bursting out the earth, saluting sun etc. Says 'Goddess Remembered' on it. Hippy friend hand painted it for me years ago, I only usually wear it in bed, honest, but it's quite distinctive . Come over and say hello!

Loulee · 23/02/2007 21:55

great, you should be easy to spot!
I'd completely forgotten and haven't yet found anything to wear - will prob be black joggy bottoms and will look out a t-shirt that asys "stollys" on it. - if i can find one....See you there!
Glad you enjoyed the reflexology anjo

weeonion · 23/02/2007 22:15

evening folks! anjo - you are still with us but u do sound more blissed out tonight!

as far as i have read - teh princess royal midwife unti allow you to have snacks - tea, coffe toast and cereal are available but maybe trixy can confirm that?? i will be sneaking in food - how come all the books etc recommend you have something to keep you going and prevent ketosis and then the hospital wont allow it?

trixymalixy · 23/02/2007 23:38

Hi, have mostly been lurking as don't generally have many hands free for typing, DS likes to use me as a dummy. Have tried him with a proper dummy, but he just spits it out!

DH says I had toast in labour, which I can't remember, but thar doesn't mean anything as I don't remember a lot of my labour (that gas n air is good stuff BTW!!) including the midwife bringing in the baby that had been born in the room next to us to show me!!

I remember him being brought tea and toast and I'm sure I could have had some of it and it would have been easy enough to eat our own snacks.

Agree with midnight, the tea and toast afterwards tastes SO good though, best thing ever. I thing I ate about 6 slices!!

Vio · 24/02/2007 07:43

hi ( i am smiling reading all the messages)....tea & toast tastes v.v.good?? after all the hard work i suppose so!! ...

midnightexpress · 24/02/2007 11:41

Do a downward dog for me gals!

Vio · 25/02/2007 13:00

hello everyone!! went to Asia Style last night and it was great!!!THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! for suggesting this restaurant!! food was authentic..the place is basic but good food and nice service..we all loved it!!! i will definitely go there again!! so glad that finally found a restaurant where i can eat proper chinese food after staying here for 9 months!!!!!

Vio · 25/02/2007 14:46

forget to say, ordered 'soft shelled crab' and it was lovely... the malaysia food was great too...just yummy!!

lazyemma · 25/02/2007 15:25

I'm so glad you liked it, Vio! You're right, it is basic (it feels more like a canteen than a restaurant), but cooks far and away the best Chinese food I've eaten in the UK.

Finally got my first antenatal appointment through from Ninewells Hospital (I've recently moved from Glasgow to Tayport near Dundee). It'll be on the 14th March, by which time I'll be 37 weeks pregnant! I can't help but think that's cutting it a bit fine. What if I'm anemic or something? I'll be getting fortnightly appointments with the local midwife team though so it's not all bad.

BEGEMOTH · 26/02/2007 09:32

Failed to make contact with any of you fellow mumsnetters at Yoga on Saturday.

All good stuff though, I just wish I could remember even a couple of the exercises. By the time I get home they've gone clear out of my head and I usually resort to bouncing around on my blow-up ball in the living room.

Hope you all had a good weekend!

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 09:34

Morning all.. hope you are all well.

I'm back from my hollies- had a great time!!

Anjo are you still here???

LieselVentouse · 26/02/2007 10:32

Did you guys have another meet up without telling me

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 10:50

No a couple of the girls go to the same yoga class I think but didnt realise did they joined here... over in the west end I think...

I've been in barcelona all week!!

Everything ok with you?

weeonion · 26/02/2007 10:53

leisel - of course we didnt have a meet up without you!! how could we possibly!! did your other thread not arrange something?

midnightexpress · 26/02/2007 11:00

Glad you enjoyed Asia Style Vio! I think I was about 39 weeks pg with DS1 when I last went there, thought the chillies might bring it on (didn't).

Glad hols were good GMM. Barcelona such a lovely city - was it warm? And how did the bump behave?

I'm home alone with both LOs for first time today - DS1 has a tummy bug, so feeding him plain yogurt VERY cautiously. He threw up in the park yesterday afternoon and of course now that we are 2nd timers, we were hopelessly unprepared, didn't even have wet wipes, so had to scoot to a shop to get some with LO all covered in green sick (avocado at lunchtime. MmmHmmm). I bet all you 1st time mums can't wait . He's a very good patient though, so I can't complain.

Right, back to the sick bay....

weeonion · 26/02/2007 11:03

anjo - anjo- anjo - where are you??? do we reckon she is away at last. fingers crossed . ...

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 11:27

Hope she hasnt.... I am up at the hospital on thursday, was hoping she would still be there so I could pop in and see her... how very inconsiderate!!!

Have you got her mobile number?

weeonion · 26/02/2007 11:55

nope - sadly i dont. does vio have it??

3 days til yr maternity leave - lucky you. you got loads to do or is it a time for chill??? when you next heading down to see yr mum or she coming up to camp out here??

geordiemacminx · 26/02/2007 12:03

She was up at the weekend, not planning on doing a great amount of travelling just incase, got a few bits that I want to get done, mainly kitchen cupboards, photos sorted, perhaps even a wee bit of gardening, other than that swimming, taking it easy, meeting up with some friends for lunch... how long til you are on leave and can come out and play???

weeonion · 26/02/2007 12:07

i dont finish til the 15th march so a bit to go yet. dont know if i will last tho' - i am just not making it out of bed at the usual ungodly hour.

yes - we must go and play out when both off.

feel like a big hippo tho' - havent a neat bump and all semblance of grace has gone. moe grunts and groans than i thought possible from myself - and that is just getting out of a chair!

has billy his paternity sorted yet? when is he taking off? fraser's boss(ie brother) is now playing silly buggers and saying once it is booked - there is no going back or changing dates.
