Vio · 14/02/2007 12:14

hiya! happy valentines day to you all!

The class was good, yes, anjo, I found the physio part v.good as well, lots of good advice. will have a birth room tour at week3..quite looking forward to that!!

some ppl say first baby always arrive late? don't know if the same will happen to me??..anjo, good luck! hope everything goes well and we can see your wee one soon!! can't imagine how big you are now!!..

WO-glad that nursery is finished!!..it must look cosy and lovely.
GMM-enjoy your holiday and have a really great time!!

weeonion · 14/02/2007 12:43

vio- glad to hear that your classes are good. we are doing the couple one - so only get 2 nights in the middle of march. you will have to tell me all about the tour!
the nursery is far from done! we have still the coloured sections to do - hard to get anything done through the week with being at work!

anjo - still thinking about you babe!!

Anjo1 · 14/02/2007 20:50

hello everyone on this Valentine's evening -
hope you're all having a lovely time, bit of a valentine's scrooge me - don't do anything for it !!
went to the MW today and got told , baby still too high , not engaged, she can still feel 3/5 of the baby's head - not what I wanted to hear .
she offered an internal examination before she felt my bump,I turned it down , afterwards she said they would'nt have done one anyway as the baby is too high.
so looks like we aren't going anywhere soon. I have another appointment in 7 days , and I'm now going to try avery natural method known to women to bring on labour naturally as I really have issues with medical inductions( and the high risk of caesarians associated with them ).
so today it's hot curry for dinner followed by what will be some undoubtedly not so hot- more likely comical- lovin'!
I hope you're all well
xxxx

geordiemacminx · 14/02/2007 21:27

Anjo - was up at Wishaw today as I was having problems breathing... half expected to see you up there..obviously not!!

Have to say I was in ward 21 and they were absolutely fantastic - lovely room, huge, own bathroom, tv, tree with fairy lights in...the whole nine yards - all of the midwives were fantastic.. feel very relieved thats where I will be having the little one!!

trixymalixy · 14/02/2007 22:20

GMM, soryr to hear you were in hospital, hope your feeling better now!!

Anjo, I wouldn't be too worried about head engagement as thing can change really quickly. I was only 4/5ths on the Friday, but things started to happen for me on the Monday. Do you have a birthing ball you can bounce on to try and help Lo shift down?

I'm feeling much better now I'm using nipple shields to bf on one side. I can't believe how down it was getting me and what a fuss everybody makes about them. DS is feeding fine on the side I'm not using nipple shields on. Can't believe I didn't just go for it before. Will probably get a roasting from the HV for it on Friday, but I couldn't care less.

Anjo1 · 15/02/2007 11:21

g'morning !
GMM - hope you're feeling better now.Did they say what the problem was? is it baby getting bigger ?glad to hear they were lovely to you at wishaw .
hey Trixy ! - so glad you're feeling better .I think you're right , stuff what they say about the shields , if they are working for you then who are they to say anything.I'm trying to stay calm about the whole baby not engaged thing but my mind keeps going into overdrive and I was bawling my eyes out most of yesterday because I kept imagining all sorts of horrible reasons why the baby is not engaged, cysts, fibroids , cord around it's neck and other scary things , trying not to think about it like that .And I'm using your 4/5 engagement experience to think positive - so cheers Trixy !!
oh , I do have a Gym ball I've been bouncing on , hopefully that will help .

Vio · 15/02/2007 11:43

hi! Anjo, try not to worry too much...i am sure everything will be just fine..thinking of you!

Trixy, glad to hear that you are feeling happier..:O)

GMM-hope you are feeling better now.

It really isn't easy being pregnant ( was a little down last weekend)..cos we drove all the way down to Manchester for that Shayne Ward concert as DH bought tickets for his daughter..8 hours drive and by the time we got home its nearly 3am..got really sore back..but then thought his only trying to make her happy cos he doesnt see her often....oh well, i am feeling okay now. sometiems i feel upset for no reasons whatsoever....maybe its the pregnancy hormone..dont know.

Loulee · 15/02/2007 13:48

i second that Vio - rubbish being pregnant.
And babies come when they're ready, so I wouldn't worry Anjo - she/he will be here before you know it.
Hope you're feeling better GMM

TallulahB - doctor update!
I called the community midwives as wasn't happy with joining woodside (partly after your problems and also cos i think it's pretty depressing up there - that building is truly boggin!!)
Well, Jo, one of the community midwives called me back - and i know her from my first pregnancy. She's suggested I join Radnor St which they visit every wednesday - and even went so far as to say she'd recommend it. Result! So fingers crossed it's all sounding normal and being right next to the park (and a cafe) makes it even better.
nearly yoga time - will let you know what i'm wearing nearer the time - probably a tshirt with 'stollys' on - a bar my sister used to work in. Will try not to forget! See if it still fits me - though should do as i'm still quite small and look bit drowned in maternity clothes!

midnightexpress · 16/02/2007 12:46

Hi there laydeez

Loulee - I can recommend Radnor Street (though don't know about their maternity services) - I went there when I lived in the West End and was really sorry to have to change when I moved to Southside. Doctors who talk to you as if you have more than half a brain cell, which in my experience is a rare thing. And very handy for Firebird. Or Mother India Cafe. Mmmmmm. I remember when we used to go out for dinner....

Enjoy teh yoga. V jealous!

weeonion · 16/02/2007 16:49

good afternoon folks! hoep you are all well. midnight express - how you and LO getting on?? no pics to share?

midnightexpress · 17/02/2007 09:50

we're fine thanks weeonion. Well, sort of. DS1 has got chicken pox (GREAT timing), but he's very chipper, so coping with that OK. And I've been given antibiotics, as CS wound isn't healing properly. They're supposed to be OK when BF, but seem to have made LO a bit colicky and bunged up, poor wee thing. Soooooo, not much sleep, but otherwise good.

Have pics, but no idea how to post them !

Anyway, how are you? All going well?

weeonion · 17/02/2007 10:58

poor you - chicken pox seems to be doign the rounds at the mo!

fine here - feelng huge and hit the panic stage in terms of will never get this flat ready never mind be menatlly prepared for it all!

off to work today - have an hours long speech to write. why oh why did i not do it before now and all i can seem to do is watch my big belly move!

hope you have a lovely weekend - it'd be nice to meet up when the LOs are all here?? looks sunny and dry out - quite spring like out there. what ever happened to winter??

Vio · 17/02/2007 16:37

hello everyone!!
Midnightxpress - hope things are getting better!
WO-how are you? how are you feeling lately? i am huge..just been getting sore back ..not good..i need 2 cushions when i sit down.

Has anyone heard of 'Group B strap' was watching this programe on Living TV and they mentioned it..worries me a bit. also..Martin's workmate's wife got it but luckily she found out before the baby was born so baby arrived safely.

Am going to ask when i go to my class on tue.

weeonion · 17/02/2007 23:37

hey vio!
group b strep - yep have heard about it an dasked my midwife at PR. they do not do the standard screening test for it but you can pay privately. i think it is about £40.

Vio · 19/02/2007 17:33

hey WO- thanks! wondering if Anjo has given birth?

It was chinese new year on Sunday. Didn't really celebrate it but did make chinese meal for tea on sunday ..good news is i was told that this year is a golden pig year which doesn't happen once in 6 decades so i guess our babies will be lucky then !!!( though personally i don't really believe in things like this cos doesn't make alot of sense but its nice to know i suppose as its something nice not sthing bad).

weeonion · 19/02/2007 18:09

hey vio - good to hear from you.
tell me all about the unit at PR - -you have had your tour now? what is it like? what do you reckon to it??

anjo - where are you???? 8 days over!!!!!

Anjo1 · 19/02/2007 18:13

Hi Vio,
Lucky babies eh, like you say,no harm in thinking that !!
well lucky or not , my baby seems intent on staying put , 8 days overdue today and nothing happening .Off to see the midwife again on wednesday and they'll probably do an internalexam and suggest booking an induction date .All hope of a natural birth are fast fading for me I'm afraid

Anjo1 · 19/02/2007 18:16

Hi WO-just posted X

weeonion · 19/02/2007 18:33

hey anjo - i know you have been ball bouncing(??), nipple stimulating, pineapple eating etc etc. have you tried walking up and down the stairs sideways? our antenatal class was talkign about that??!!

Anjo1 · 19/02/2007 22:58

walking up and down the stairs side ways?never heard that one before !! I'll try it , how is it meant to work ?

Vio · 20/02/2007 05:27

hi anjo- 8 days overdue!! thinking of you really..i dont think i would fancy an induction too..guess we all want a smooth natural birth if possible...fingers crossed...maybe it will happen in the next few days.

WO- havent had the tour yet..it should be at wk 3 ( week 2 tomorrow) - visit the labour ward, special care and M.B.U unit...this tour is for all mums-to-be at the class..but still get an evening session with birth partners at PRM at a later date.

weeonion · 20/02/2007 09:19

anjo - apparently you lean your back against the wall and walk up and down the stairs sideways. the motion is meant to open yr pelvis and encourage baby to move? any thing is worth a try i guess?????

Anjo1 · 20/02/2007 11:33

cheers WO- I'll give it a go
Not having a good day today , just feel exhausted and fed up with the waiting and worrying ,there's only so much waiting and worrying you can do before your mind starts wanting to give up on you .

weeonion · 20/02/2007 13:21

anjo - do you have anyone with you to amuse / distract you or are you on your own?? poor you - every day must be tough wondering if this is the one when youre gonna go.
