phryn, totally with you on the movement watching. There was a story on our local tv news last night about how count the kicks campaign basically saved a baby's life. Seems that pregnancy goes from boob watch to knicker watch to sick watch to boob watch again and now to movement watch. It's not easy but I do not remember my first pregnancy being this stressful!!

pizzakat · 26/05/2015 10:58

Thanks Sunbathing I'm only 13 weeks so definitely not going like you say most likely to cause more worry'

just got my NHS scan date through the post for Thursday morning and burst into tears... I'm so frightened of being back in that same waiting room where I was so naively happy and excited in December Sad

Hi Raffetys and welcome xx
I'm still quite early on myself so can't make any promises about it getting any easier but I can promise this is a lovely friendly bunch of ladies who will be here to hold your hand and help as much as we can when you're finding things tough x

happygojo · 26/05/2015 11:21

Hi Raffetys I found 17 weeks was a milestone for me for reducing my worries. I heard the HB for the second time. I then had scans at 20 (standard one), 21 (because they couldn't measure the head at 20 weeks... awkward baby) and 24 weeks (cervical length with a bonus growth scan thrown in), I then heard the HB at 25 weeks so I had loads of reassurance. Now I feel her move about loads.... that said I STILL worry when I can't feel her for a few hours (usually because I am busy/distracted).

Pizza YAY for your job, I hope it continues to go well!

I am currently worried about achey legs, I also have had some headache 'twinges' and I had a few seconds yesterday of visual disturbance. Nothing since though (except the achey legs) and no swelling anywhere. I have the MW on Thursday after my lucazade challenge (GTT) and I think it is probably all more likely due to going to the radio 1 big weekend on saturday and doing too much? I am now 29+1

Hi Sunbathing so, so happy to read your are 37 weeks Smile Thank you for your kind words, I've got my fingers and toes crossed that it will be 2nd time lucky for me!

Welcome Raffertys I've not long joined this thread, after getting my BFP last week. I'm 5+1 today and hopefully this will be my first DC. I had a mmc in Dec at 11+5, so am also super anxious it will happen again! What is your EDD?

Raffertys · 26/05/2015 12:43

Thank you so much for the lovely welcome. I'm on the fucking useless app so which doesn't allow you to see previous posts when typing a reply so apologies for the brief response! I'll log on properly later. So glad to have found somewhere I can chat to people in the same boat.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day Flowers

Glad the new job has gotten off to a good start, pizza

Gum Great that your doctor is on your side! Is this your regular GP or an Ob/Gyn? It feels so good to have someone who listens to your concerns and tries to do something.

Welcome raffertys, glad that you have found us! Pregnancy after mc is such a rollercoaster, but you are in very good company here!

As for myself, I am not too good... 9+1 today, and my hopes are dwindling, even though the sickness has come back with a vengeance. But (and I can't believe I am writing this, it sounds sooo stupid) it's a different kind of sickness - no more coming in waves with ravenous hunger and having to eat all the time, it's now more constant, underlying, a bit like travel sickness. Eating doesn't help, at least not very much. So I am wondering if this is the progesterone giving me symptoms that are not really there (apparently, it can enhance pg symptoms) .
The spotting is still there, now more or less constant every day, mostly red. And I'm feeling quite crampy today... So all in all, it doesn't look good.
I will try calling the EPU to see if they might scan me again this weekend or before, if not, I will try and get a private scan. I need to know asap if this is going anywhere - we are going on holiday in 3 weeks' time, and the longer I wait, the more chance there is that it will mess up the trip, if any 'measures' will have to be taken.

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 13:35

cloud, I'd call epu, particularly if you've a holiday coming up and are still spotting. Is it enough for a pad? Or just a few drops for the whole day? Don't worry about pestering them, it's what they're there for. Your mind needs some restSmile

Thepurplegiraffe · 26/05/2015 13:39

Cloud, I agree with Broody you should definitely give them a call and be insistent, you need to know for your own peace of mind. Re the sickness though, what you are experiencing now is what I have had for the majority of this pregnancy so I wouldn't necessarily see it as a bad sign. Keeping everything crossed for you!

Littlelady33 · 26/05/2015 14:21

Cloud so sorry to hear that you are still spotting and can only echo what others have said about a scan - be insistent and they should see you.
Phryn, broody - also on obsessive movement watch here. He's quite active which is great in one way but a few quiet hours gets me panicking.
Pizza hurrah for the job!
Quick question - pretty sure I know the answer - but is it common to have a growth scan at 30-32wks? I don't have my thurs scan until 36, which I thought was normal but was reading somewhere that this is usually earlier?

northdownmummy · 26/05/2015 14:25

cloud keep pestering the EPU till the see you.
I has spotting vey frequently between 6 and about 10 weeks. Scanned 3 times in total during that period which gave me short lived comfort. Now I'm almost 18 weeks, so I'll be keeping the fingers crossed for you

longestlurkerever · 26/05/2015 16:51

little practice on third scans area varies. I wouldn't have had one at all apart from gestational diabetes diagnosis. 36 weeks makes sense for checking position rather than growth.

cloud more hugs. Get yourself to the epu but try not to worry. X

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 17:54

little, I've got a similarly active baby so yes any period of quiet is worrying. Last night, I slept quite soundly from 1am to 5am which is v rare for me with my darn restless leg and feet syndrome and baby sometimes kicking so violently it wakes me up... so of course, rather than thinking "hooray for four sold hours of sleep", I was thinking "oh shit, why hasn't the baby woke me up?!" I even went for a non necessary wee and jiggle about just to see if I could wake up baby. Naturally, s/he moved and then had a lovely party so I couldn't get back to sleep then ?????? daft broody! Xx

Raffertys · 26/05/2015 18:36

cloud Sorry to hear you're having those worries. Definitely keep trying the EPU...as we all know that's what those guys are there for.

broody I remember wondering why DS hadn't woken me up one night. I ended up drinking a glass of orange juice whilst bouncing on my birthing ball at 4am!

Thanks again for the lovely welcome guys. I'm on the Feb due in thread (too late for the January ones Grin ) and the ladies on there are LOVELY but thankfully none of them seem to have gone through a MC. I remember how much support I found in the MC board after my loss, and from what I've read this thread seems like something which will become equally as supportive in more happier times.

Does anyone know if EPU offer early scans after one miscarriage? I'm sure I've read somewhere it's only offered in the very sad event of recurrent MCs. Any advice much appreciated.

Littlelady33 · 26/05/2015 18:38

Thanks longest makes sense re scan just checking I hadn't missed one! Broody glad to hear I'm not the only one to worry, wake baby up, curse fact that I then can't get any sleep. Raffertys I'm sure it depends on the EPU but mine offers reassurance scans from 7wks after one MC. I think that's standard? No referral needed.

Thanks guys, I'll give them a buzz tomorrow.

broodylicious · 26/05/2015 22:06

cloud, are you ok? Thinking of you xx

cloudjumper · 27/05/2015 11:41

Thank you all for your kind words. A little miracle has just happened - the EPU has just rung me, and guess why?! To offer me a reassurance scan! I am stunned.
I've been fretting about calling them and begging for a scan, and now it has just fallen into my lap. Saturday at 10.30am, the timing couldn't be better.
I bet they did not see that I've already had a reassurance scan, but I am not going to point that out to them, nonono. One needs to make most of those rare opportunities.

Raffertys · 27/05/2015 11:47

Cloud that's great news. Fingers crossed the time until your scan passes quickly and you get to see your little baby. Grin

mrsdiddlydoo · 27/05/2015 11:51

That's got to be a first cloud! Will be thinking of you on Saturday morning. Hugs

Hello all Smile
Sorry to have been so absent, had a lovely long weekend in Spain.

raffertys welcome (and also to anyone else I might have missed)

cloud great news, I am so pleased that they rang you. I hated trying to get EPU to see me, I always felt like they were really bored of speaking to me. I really hope the spotting lessens and you can get to Saturday without too much additional worry. additional worry?! as if you could have more

pizza so pleased to hear you enjoyed your first shift, great news Grin

tori congratulations! Flowers

So 20+6 here and terrified about the 20 week scan on Monday. Not felt any movement yet and just really starting to think the worst. At least it's not too long to wait but it feels like a lifetime right now. I agree with some of the posts a page or so back, wouldn't it be lovely to be pregnant without as much worry!

broodylicious · 27/05/2015 14:13

Great news re scan cloudSmile
