thanks a lot.

how far are you rafferty? i always relied on my nipples being sore for a bit of reassurance but that has started to ease off last couple of weeks. think things do come and go and theyre nothing to worry about.

Raffertys · 09/06/2015 20:04

I'm only 6+3, ginger. Nipples still very sore but boobs less so and nausea almost gone today.

Why is this pregnancy lark such a worrying time Sad

How are you feeling?

raffertys I found my symptoms fluctuated quite a bit, weeks of sickness and sore boobs and then a couple of weeks with out! I worried a lot about it and ended up crying to epu and had a scan at 9 weeks, everything was fine and I'm now 16 weeks and still suffering on and off symptoms. As hard as it is you just gotta take each day as it comes Flowers

I've been doing a lot of reading but not a lot of writing on here if recent, glad your amnio went well ginger and metal sounds like your harmony went well too :)

Raffertys · 09/06/2015 20:33

Thank you Rebecca, that is very reassuring.

gingerbreadmam · 09/06/2015 20:56

thank you.

oh rafferty i think at ur stage i had food aversions and not much else tbh. i did get nausea but not sickness and by 13 weeks everything had passed. only the weird sore nipples remained and even they seem to be subsiding a bit now Grin

Gumblossom · 09/06/2015 22:18

ginger and metal, glad to hear that your tests went well.

Raffertys, I've had fluctuating symptoms too and have driven myself mad with worry some days. Having a history of miscarriage makes us feel so vulnerable, doesn't it? I keep hearing that it is perfectly normal and have started to accept that.

I have lain awake all night as I have a scan today. I'm bricking it. The last time I had a scan at this particular place it was bad news, so I am feeling sick with nerves. I just want a nice, normal, happy scan for a change Sad At least this time DH is coming with me and he can pay for the scan, so that I don't have to faff around with the credit card with tears dripping off my nose, like last time!

cloudjumper · 09/06/2015 22:29

Good luck, gum! We'll be with in that scan room Thanks

Well, I made a big mistake and started watching that 'surviving birth' programme on TV earlier. BIG mistake. Managed about 20 min, then I was in floods of tears and had to turn it off. Still feel really shaken. Don't watch it, really not a good idea. I should have known, but I was expecting something along the lines of One Born Every Minute (which, btw, I also struggle to watch). Sobbed on DH shoulder, so much for keeping it together Confused

broodylicious · 09/06/2015 23:01

cloud, I was going to watch that prog but I'm five weeks away from birth. Within that hospital (LRI). So I made the decision to avoid and ended up watching blinging up baby which just made me cross!!

Hi ladies, do you have room for one more? I'm 7+6, due 21st Jan 2016. I had a mmc in March. So far I've managed to stay reasonably positive about things but having a bit of a wobble at the moment. Those of you who have had /are having reassurance scans, how has it been for managing the anxiety? I've been trying to hold off from booking one until now but thinking of booking one for 9+6 (and praying I get that far!). All advice would be very welcome, you seem like a very supportive bunch.

Raffertys · 10/06/2015 06:23

Thank you gum. I'm hoping its normal and not a bad sign. Boobs are a bit tender again today and I think the nausea is making a return...but then I wonder if it's all in my head. FFS. I wish early pregnancy was easy.

I really hope your scan goes well. Please let us know how you get on. I'll be sending you good vibes.

Hello nouser and welcome. The ladies here are a wonderful bunch.

northdownmummy · 10/06/2015 06:28

gum good luck for today.

I'm also suffering from scanxiety, been awake most of the night. It'sy 20week scan and I'm just so nervous. Had 5 scans already this pregnancy and all have been fine so I should be more confident, but I just can't convince myself that everything will be fine.

Nothing to do but wait, scans at 3:20.

cavamonster · 10/06/2015 06:40

Welcome no and congratulations. Wobbles are to be expected, I found reassurance scans kept me able to function in the early days but you have to be prepared for the yanked up anxiety just prior but for me the relief after was worth it. 9+6 is a good time to have it aswell.

Didn't see anything about that programme cloud but made the mistake of watching obem at the beginning of my pregnancy and getting myself in a right state so stay away from all that type now.

broody watched blinging up baby last week, mostly open mouthed and then really angry - terrible.

Good luck gum

Glad things are looking good ginger and metal

llama you are organised, we are due the same date and other than delayed clamping that I learned about on here, all I know for a birth plan is I'd like to deliver the baby in hospital! Must start looking into it more but I suppose to do that I have to really believe I am having this baby!

brickiemum2 · 10/06/2015 07:02

Welcome nouser
Glad everything went well ginger and metal
Good luck today gum keep us updated please

I have my booking in appointment today at 8+6. None of my mc made it this far (well, technically I still had no signs of anything wrong other than a bad scan with my mmc, but this time scans are ok so far)

Nousername2015 · 10/06/2015 07:21

Thanks for the advice cava I booked it straight after reading your post. I can add it to the little milestones to tick off and hopefully it will have the desired effect (i.e. The ability to get a full nights sleep!)

Good luck to those ladies with scans/appointments today.

happygojo · 10/06/2015 07:22

Any update gum? thinking of you. (It is late afternoon in Australia now)

Welcome no may your stay be long and uneventful

envious thank you for sharing your birth plan, mine will be similar, I am terrified of being immobile in labour. It would make me feel claustrophobic.

Happy Wednesday everyone! And good look north! I will be thinking of you this afternoon

bythesea82 · 10/06/2015 07:36

good luck north and hope it went well gum
Welcome nouser I agree, between 9 & 10 weeks seems a good time for a reassurance scan, not too long to wait then for 12 weeks and should be able to see plenty.

Interesting hearing the chat about birth plans, guess that's something I need to start thinking about but clueless. Maybe in a few weeks....

Amyyy27 · 10/06/2015 10:15

Good luck to gum and north, hope all is well!

Welcome nouser I paid for a private early scan and would recommend. I am terribly anxious and it did really help... but I won't lie, you then start becoming more and more anxious as you get closer to the 12 week scan. In fact I think its just worries throughout the pregnancy and then a whole new kind of worry when the baby arrives! I have paid for another scan at 18+3 (this Saturday.. eeek!) which was a mixture of reassurance and finding out the gender. I tell you what has helped me immensely though which some people are very against... a Doppler! I didn't order mine until 17 weeks which is late really but its so comforting, if that's something you would want to consider a little later in the pregnancy.

Re birth plans, this is my first baby and I just don't have a clue! Will the midwife sit down with me at one appointment and discuss this or will I have to research this on my own? I know I have a long way to go but I like to be as organised as possible!

Zeuxippe · 10/06/2015 10:44

Good luck gum with the scan today, let us know how you get on.

Ginger glad to hear the amnio went well, fingers crossed for some good results.

Metal the strong nasal bone sounds like a good sign, hopefully all will be well.

Well after all the disapproval from the midwife about the lateness of my booking in appointment I just got my scan letter and it's come through for 23rd June when I will be 12+6 so no problem at all in the end!

Re birth plans mine will be very simple (if I get that far) after the car crash that was DD1's birth. ELCS please! The consultant told me that if I attempted a VBAC there's a 70% chance we would end up with another EMCS. Just want to make sure the baby gets out ok this time.

It was helpful to draw up a plan last time but I don't think I realised the extent to which events can take over. At the end of the day the most important thing is a healthy baby.

Raffertys · 10/06/2015 10:45

Home dopplers are so fucking dangerous. Please don't buy one. Midwives and medical peeps are trained to use and interpret them correctly, not us.

happygojo · 10/06/2015 10:50

Agree with Raffertys about the doppler. I was tempted in the early days, but now I hate seeing when women use them to 'reassure' themselves after a period of reduced movement or a fall or bang to their bump.... times when they should go and see medical professionals if they are worried. I actually think they are more dangerous later in pregnancy than earlier.

Just my personal opinion though

broodylicious · 10/06/2015 11:11

Another one in the anti home Doppler camp here. I actually would go as far to say that they shouldn't really be sold commercially. If there are any issues with movement, go to mat assessment or call your mw. Not worth the stress!!

CommanderShepard · 10/06/2015 11:18

How are you doing gum?

envious that looks good to me. I pretty much need to have two versions - one for caesarean, one for otherwise (I'm planning a VBAC unless I get to 42 weeks, in which case they're booking an ELCS). Only written my caesarean one so far, but here goes:

  • PLEASE DO NOT MOVE MY LEGS WHILE I CAN SEE THEM! This caused significant trauma in my first birth. If my legs need to go in stirrups please put drapes up first.
  • Please lower the drapes at point of delivery. I would like my baby to be delivered onto me and the lights dimmed. Baby to have skin-to-skin contact with a parent as soon as possible
  • Delayed cord clamping if possible
  • Vitamin K as intramuscular injection
  • [x department] must be informed of the delivery as I am an [research study] participant - see blue notes for details
  • Happy for students to be present
CommanderShepard · 10/06/2015 11:26

I have a meeting next month with the consultant midwife to discuss the logistics of the VBAC so should be interesting. Consultant is very keen on CFM and I am not, and I want them to give me evidence that it is actually helpful in my case before letting them push me into it.
