Best of luck Broody. We'll be thinking of you

Boozle80 · 15/02/2015 18:57

It's at half one. I'm bricking it! I'm sure they'll say something horrible is wrong or something! That's just me not being able to believe this is actually happening though!

Hi, I'm looking for some balanced advice, given that anxiety has taken away my abilities to think straight. I'm 8 wks 1day and have had brown discharge intermittently since Fri night. I know that its more of a concern if it is red or if I have cramps and am trying to focus on this but its all too like my m/c. The question is do I wait a few more days or do I phone the doc in the morning? I have had booking appointment, i happened to ask m/w about m/c, (this hadn't happened at the time) she advised to go to a&e if suspected m/c but itstoo early to say so seems a little dramatic - anyone any suggestions on a balanced approach? Thanks.

Boozle80 · 15/02/2015 19:38

That's really hard. You sound like you're being really sensible about it though. Where abouts in the country are you? Xx

Boozle80 · 15/02/2015 19:52

I was just wondering if there's an EPU near you that you could bob into?

maverick79 · 15/02/2015 20:00

I'm in the north east, there is an epu (where I went for my m/c) but wonder if they'd think I was being over anxious? Thanks for replying

Boozle80 · 15/02/2015 20:06

I'm sure they won't, and if they do that's their problem, not yours! I've learnt the hard way to do what's right for me - my epu is really good and told me that the reason they are there are for people like us. I would definitely pop in - if for nothing else it'll put your mind to rest. Let me know how you get on

thesmallbear · 15/02/2015 20:16

maverick - I had brown discharge on and off until 12 weeks. Everything is fine, but I did have scans at EPU at 6 and 10 weeks (and a private scan at 8 weeks). I say go to EPU and put your mind at rest.

maverick79 · 15/02/2015 20:53

Boozle and bear, thankyou, feel emotional just reading your replies. Im going to follow it up first thing tomorrow - thanks for giving me the courage to do something other than sit anxiously.

Maverick hope you make some progress tomorrow. So many women here have experienced this and are now far along with healthy pregnancies. Completely agree that an EPU is the right place for you, and with brown discharge they should see you - this is precisely what they exist to help with! Fingers crossed for you.

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2015 22:15

Maverick, I hope all is ok x
Definitely best to get checked out.

I'm trying to decide where to have an early scan. Nowhere seems very close to us.

DH has found one quite close so I'm going to ring them tomorrow.
I'm having bad wind pain tonight so I'll be glad to see if baby is ok.

Thank you :)
I'm excited to ring them.
It's crazy how much there is to worry about.
I even just said to DH that I don't want to go too far away because driving back upset would be horrible.
Why can't I just be positive???

Hello after a bit of advice. I am 6+2 following a mc at 7w last year and one at 4w the previous year and am wondering how to go about asking for an early scan to help ease my anxiety? Do I ask my GP if they can refer me to the EPU? Or does nhs not do that unless you've had 3 mc's? What about a private scan - how would I go about that and roughly how much are they? Any words of wisdom gratefully appreciated!
TIA.

tannyLoo · 15/02/2015 23:36

She is beautiful! Thank you for showing us. Are you still in hospital or have you gone home yet? Do stay in touch, and see you on the grads thread soon (I hope) x

maverick79 · 16/02/2015 05:32

Hi roncon, I'm not sure what the rules are for NHS but I googled private early pregnancy scan and my closest town and instantly found my closest one. The company was called ultrasound-direct.com. they charge £99 for an early scan.

HollyBen · 16/02/2015 07:33

The rules on early scans seem to differ across the country roncon I am in Edinburgh and was able to self refer to the epu for an early scan at 8 weeks after both of my mcs. Others have had to go via gp or midwife. And some areas say no early scans. I'd say try ringing your local epu or gp and see what they say.

For private scan you should be able to google private pregnancy scan and see what comes up. Around £100 seems the norm.

Let us know how you get on.

Can't see photos on app baby I will logon in a bit for a look. Hope you are doing well x

Boozle80 · 16/02/2015 08:12
