Hello ladies - I am tentatively stopping by to say hello. I got my BFP last Monday and to say I'm terrified is an understatement. I've only done the one test, I'm scared another will be negative! According to LMP dates I'm 6+2 but I have longish cycles to I'm probably nearer to 5weeks.

I had a MMC discovered at 12 weeks in June last year (baby died at 8+3) and an early MC at 5+3 in August last year. It's taken a while to get this BFP so the first hurdle is over but clearly that was the easy part!

My DH is nagging me to go to the GP so that 'I'm in the system' and start asking for early scans but I'm not sure I want to. I'm definitely burying my head in the sand somewhat and really don't want to face what has happened before.

I do have lots of symptoms which are reassuring (although the cramps are a little disconcerting) and I'm on permanent knicker watch!!

Reading through the thread (and the last one) I'm relieved to know that everything I'm feeling is normal! Does it ever get any easier?

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 09:55

Lovely to see you here allthefours! :)

Everything you're feeling is definitely normal. Everyone on here is so lovely, you'll have lots of support :)

Congratulations Baby!!

Hi allthefours, I think we all understand how you feel. I feel very similar at the moment. I am 6+1 but went for a scan at the EPU on Friday due to some light cramps and a bit of spotting.

They found a heartbeat even though it's only 2.4mm so I hope that's a good sign however I doubt I will stop being paranoid any time soon!

I am incredibly emotional/down today. Not sure if it's hormones or just the worry. I haven't told anyone at work yet as it's so early but my workload is silly so I don't know what to do, plus I feel tired and nauseous all the time. When did you all tell your employers?

I'm finding 16w to 20w yet another limbo! And my bloody sickness returned today...I'm dying to feel movements but with a first baby at 17weeks I guess I've some time to wait?

broodylicious · 16/02/2015 14:00

Glad you've got a scan booked treacle. Hopefully it should help you get through to the 12 weeker.

Well I had my appt at the hospital re my downs testing (I have been given a one in 85 chance). Consultant was very positive and said it's still decent odds and chances are baby is perfectly normal. At my 20 week scan, they'll look for any abnormalities, just as they would with any baby/any woman, and that may or may not throw up any further concerns/markers that baby broody could be born with downs. She did reiterate what my mw said that it's not diagnostic testing and no blood test could possibly be relied on for a 100% guarantee either way. Interestingly, the trust is shortly going to be offering a kind of harmony test soon so there'll be no need for amnio or cvs tests and their related mc risks. She said harmony has a good rep but problem is that you're either classed as low risk or high risk - within the high risk, you're only then given a 50:50 chance re downs. To me, that's just ridic more worrying than my current 1:85 chance so we've written that off.

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 14:03

Thanks broody, i don't know if ive done the right thing or how people will react but I can't manage with the worry!

How are you feeling after your appointment?

broodylicious · 16/02/2015 14:18

If it puts your mind at rest - even for a few weeks - then you've done the right thing. And it's your baby and your money, so your right to decide what to do! Stuff everyone else.

I'm feeling positive. It honestly makes no difference to us whether baby has downs or not, but it was good to speak to the consultant and just hear her opinions. She was very understanding about my mc and she knows that having gone through that trauma will have affected our opinions on whether to test or not - she wasn't judgmental or tried to persuade us one way or the other, she just have us facts. The fact she was so positive about stuff has definitely impacted us, so now we just want to get through the anomaly scan in two weeks... and then we may finally start telling people our newsGrin

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 14:22

That's great :)
I'm glad she was so helpful. I bet your excited to start sharing your news :)

Probably tmi and hopefully worrying about nothing but... after having about a week of no real discharge at all I just had a significant amount and it was yellow tinged (sorry).
Do I need to get checked out for an infection?

thesmallbear · 16/02/2015 17:20

Welcome and congratulations Allthefours. Some cramping in early pregnancy is normal. I have cramping and am 20 + 4 now and all is well.

MelB - I told my boss at 6 weeks weeks, as I didn't want to lie about why I needed time off to go to EPU (ealy scan due to brown cm). If you have an understanding boss I'd just tell them tbh. Then they can support you through the hard work that is the first trimester!

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 17:39

Congrats llama! Lovely pic :)

It's worth getting checked doctordonna but I've had the same and had a swab and there was nothing there.

Will contact doctor's tomorrow.

HollyBen · 16/02/2015 18:02

Glad you are feeling positive after the appointment broody

Brilliant news llama

2 weeks to go. I really should get my hospital bag packed....

Littlelady33 · 16/02/2015 18:07

Great news llama it's amazing to see the tiny baby's acrobatics at this stage isn't it?? I told my employer at 13 wks, couldn't do so earlier due to pay rise / promotion negotiations really. But it would have been nice for them to know earlier and understand why I needed time off (sickness)

Boozle80 · 16/02/2015 18:28

Hello Allthefours brilliant to see you!
Could I be added to the list please? Now I've had my 20 week scan I think I dare do it!
I'm due July 4th - Woohoo!
