I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

OMGBabyNo3 · 29/01/2015 11:09

Oooh interesting fixuplookssharp. Just been googling and it seems that's true with third pregnancy. Thanks. Feel a bit better now...though still crampy.

fixuplooksharp · 29/01/2015 11:15

OMGBabyNo3 glad you are also an avid googler :) Yes it is reassuring, although doesn't help with the cramps. I feel so much more tired at work too, it's impossible to be tired when I'm at home with the boys :)

lovesmycake · 29/01/2015 11:57

Oooh can I join too I'm finding the wait hard as well, need something to keep my mind of imagining the worst.

Also love a bit of question and answer session :)

pinkie87 · 29/01/2015 12:18

coley170 · 29/01/2015 12:43

I've lots for girls too & only 2 for boys - loads I like but oh wont agree too

lovesmycake · 29/01/2015 12:44

ooh yes pinkie I don't know why I have such a mental block with girl's names. When I was a kid I was convinced when I had a daughter I was going to call her Ezmerelda ..........no danger of that !! apologies in the unlikely event that someone on this thread has a DD named that, it's erm just not my taste Grin

MrsEvansAlmost · 29/01/2015 13:16

I have 3 boys names and 5 girls names oh has agreed to all

going to let him choose the name.seeing as he is so against what's happening ATM!

Teaching123 · 29/01/2015 13:26

When I was younger I wanted a boy and was going to call him Elvis. I've gone off that slightly luckily!!!

LittleHornbill · 29/01/2015 15:16

I had a scan at the start of this week which has relaxed me a lot but still anxious for the 12 week mark when I will let everyone know (though there's not many left that either me or DH hasn't blabbed to).

1. How old are now/on your due date - 28/29
2. When is your due date - 7th September
3 how long were you ttc - 10 months (and about 6 years of waiting for DH to be "ready")
4 Where are you? - Isle of Man
5 Who is at home calming/ testing your nerves - DH and a nutcake cat
6 What kind of birth would you like - a speedy and pain free one that I recover from instantly would be nice
7 Have you thought about names - there were several that DH and I both agreed that we liked while TTC but I've gone off them all now
8 Will you find out the sex? - Maybe. I want to but DH doesn't. Also my DM who I stupidly told straight away is already spending money she hasn't got buying horribly uncomfortable looking cute clothes to dress up her future doll DGC Hmm . She doesn't understand my dislike of the whole pink/blue thing and I don't want to encourage her by letting her know the sex but I doubt I could last long without letting it slip that I knew.
9 What's your current occupation - Technician
10 What symptoms do you have - nausea, tiredness, sore boobs when I wake up, pain in lower back, thirst and far too many trips to the loo

alien11 · 29/01/2015 15:28

Can I join please ? Roughly 6 wks pregnant going by lmp. It's no.2. No symptoms at all really Hmm apart from loads of positive tests ! With my dd I had nausea but was never sick. Have a long wait until booking appt(4 weeks) then have to wait for my 12wk scan date. Have a weeks holiday after booking appt then a weekend away so that should distract a bit!

  2. When is your due date- 18/09/15
3 how long were you ttc- No effort involved whatsoever- was told I couldn't conceive so just an extremely lucky, well timed bit of coupling :-) 4 Where are you- SURREY 5 Who is at home calming testing your nerves - DH doing a fine job on both counts and my beautiful sprollie who can do no wrong. 6 What kind of birth would you like - Really don't care at this point - just a healthy mini phenomum at the end of it please 7 Have you thought about names - can't allow myself to yet 8 Will you find out the sex - no idea 9 What's your current occupation Specialist nurse just unfortunately not in midwifery, gynae or obs 10 What symptoms do you have- tender/huge boobs(already in a DD when prev was C) , bloating, mood swings (and then some), bloody knackered for no other reason, and a complete ditz-(is that a pregnancy symptom??

Concern of the hour-how long can I keep this a secret? Only DH and Sis know. Work colleagues are starting to give me strange looks currently due to unprovoked fits of giggles or temper (usually aimed at computer or filing cabinet luckily).
So far in my ditzyness I have waited at a non automatic door for it to open, answered my computer mouse instead of my mobile and reached for my seatbelt when I sat on the toilet...... Will I last 9months??

Teaching123 · 29/01/2015 18:09

phenomum that's really made me laugh! I've lost about half my brain cells in the space of 2 weeks! I feel you pain!

tia my DD is 4 and almost everyday talks about how much she wants me to have a baby. I'm desperate to tell her!!

Crystal049 · 29/01/2015 18:22

DoctorDonnaNoble · 29/01/2015 18:23
  1. How old are now/on your due date -36
  2. When is your due date- 18/09/15
3 how long were you ttc- since MMC in Dec 2013 so 12 months pretty much. 4 Where are you- North East Essex 5 Who is at home calming testing your nerves - DH and our lovely long haired ginger cat, Dennis. 6 What kind of birth would you like - Due to various medical reasons I'm quite worried so one with as many health care professionals available as possible! 7 Have you thought about names - No. And wont for a while. Too much could go wrong at the moment. 8 Will you find out the sex - If it shows in 20 week scan - yes. 9 What's your current occupation - Teacher of English, Drama, RSS and a little bit of General Studies. 10 What symptoms do you have- I'm already up to a GG (!!!) and my boobs are beyond tender. I'm very pale so they look really veiny :( and I am totally exhausted and occasionally nauseous. And I can't control my body temperature (freezing all day, boiling at night). Oh and I think I have pregnancy rhinitis. Oh joy!
pinkie87 · 29/01/2015 19:11

lovesmycake Esmerelda is certainly an interesting choice! Grin

Well today, I am going between starving -> stuffing my face -> feeling sick -> forcing myself to eat -> feeling sick again. It's a real joy. Also totally exhausted.

Has anyone (or will you) tell your boss before you get to 12 weeks?

DoctorDonnaNoble · 29/01/2015 19:16

My head teacher and head of department know. Just in case!

pinkie87 · 29/01/2015 19:21

Thing is I know you "should" wait until 12 weeks, but if the worst were to happen I'd probably have a couple of days off and they would find out then anyway. So I'm not sure. Will see how it goes next week as I'm off til Wednesday now.

alien11 · 29/01/2015 19:39
  1. How old are now/on your due date -32/33

Had water birth last time & 3.5 hr labour so a repeat would be fine! 7 Have you thought about names - Nope 8 Will you find out the sex -nope loved the surprise last time 9 What's your current occupation Stay at home mum but am a qualified primary school teacher 10 What symptoms do you have- Er... Hardly any! 5 positive pregnancy tests? Suppose more tired and bit bloated by the end of the day?! I was nauseous when pregnant with dd but nothing at the mo hence the worrying
phenomum73 · 29/01/2015 20:00

Told my immediate boss today...1) just incase worse happens 2) to prevent all the lies when I need time off for appts 3) so at least someone at work knows why I'm behaving out of character. I trust my boss to say nothing to anyone ( and no decent boss should anyway)

Tired...off to bed already with Luther box set and mug of hot milk.....I am 102yrs old

pinkie87 · 29/01/2015 20:13

Thanks phenomum. My boss is fab, I know she wouldn't tell. Already getting difficult taking time off for appointments. As it's a small department everyone always asks where I was! So nosy. and when I lie someone sad "ahhh we thought you were pregnant and off for a scan!" Blush

Maybe next week...

Matilda17 · 29/01/2015 20:17

Hi,

I'm 6 and a half weeks, very anxious (suffer with anxiety anyway). These 12 weeks seem to be going very slowly. We've told FIL, siblings, best friend and one colleague. I've been on dry January, but I think I'll be a bit of a recluse after that.

Good to hear from others.
