I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

Can I join please?
I'm 10+5 today with very little symptoms apart from tiredness, extremely slow digestion and tender boobs.
had an early reassurance scan at 7+1 that shown a perfect little bean with a good strong heartbeat.
MMC are all that's on my mind after suffering one about 10 years ago.
I have had a DD who's 8 since then tho.
This 12 week wait makes the 2 week wait a piece of piss! only 2 weeks to go till my 12 week scan (ill actually be 12+6) just to make that wait a little bit longer Confused

hope everyone is well this morning.

Emma321q · 16/02/2015 09:33

Good luck dillydollydarling. Make sure you come back and tell us all about it!

pinkie87 · 16/02/2015 20:16

I had my scan today and everything was fine thankfully. Saw my little bean wriggling around nicely. Very reassuring considering I have been almost symptom free so far!

Newyearsunresolutions · 17/02/2015 11:02

That's good to hear Pinkie, I have hardly any symptoms and I'm worried sick I will go for the scan tomorrow and there will be nothing there.

SecretlyobsessedbyLego · 17/02/2015 12:02

Hi everyone Smile, I'm just shy of 5 weeks pregnant and finding it great to be able to chat to other ladies on here. It's so hard not telling people early!

Oh my goodness yes! This next wait until 12 week scan I fear is going to feel like an eternity. This is my second pregnancy so thought it might be easier as have a 3 1/2 year old to occupy me, but no, I'm just as worried and impatient as the first time!

Sounds like my worries and fears are very similar to lots of you, which is reassuring as I feel a bit bonkers worrying about everything possible! Anyone else due towards mid - end of October?

dancewiththetreedoug · 17/02/2015 12:36

Secretly, me!! My EDD is 19th Smile I have a DS who's 3 in a few weeks. This feels completely new to me this time - I don't remember feeling this exhausted/bloated/terrible back ache the first time around?! To complicate matters, we are moving 300 miles the week I'll be 8 weeks so need to register with the midwife ASAP so I get my booking in appt and scan date on time! Nothing's ever straight forward!Confused

dancewiththetreedoug · 17/02/2015 12:36

Congrats Pinkie btw! Grin

Isithappening · 17/02/2015 16:45

Congrats pinkie, really pleased it went well.

secretly I calculate that my due date will be around 17th Oct, but I am a little unsure of precise dates so it could be a couple of days either side.
I can't believe how tired I feel. I already have two children (but both over 10) and I'm sure I wasn't this tired with either of them. I literally can't sit down without wanting to sleep at the moment.

SecretlyobsessedbyLego · 17/02/2015 17:16

We have a 3 year old who currently isn't sleeping well so I'm not sure whether it's thatvwhich is making me so tired or the pregnamcy or a mix of the both?! So I know how you feel itishappening. I think I'm due around 23rd Oct. So paranoid about anything going wrong. Any twinge or pain I worry about!
Moving house 300 miles sounds a nightmare dancing. You poor thing, hope it goes ok. I have Midwife app booked 16/03 so counting down days to that to find out when 12 wk scan is. Not told anyone about baby apart from gym instructor as wasn't sure which of my training classes were still suitable. Turns out all are currently fine so I've no excuse to sit at home eating chocolate Sad. Feel so tired though already! That either waves of nausea throughout the day - generally worse in the evening which happened with my first too. Not been sick as of yet.
Congrats to all you lovely ladies. Great to be able to talk to someone! Smile

Isithappening · 17/02/2015 19:13

DH has just suggested we book a private early dating scan. He reckons we should book it for around the 8 week mark as the heart best will be visible by then and a heartbeat at they stage means the pregnancy is much more likely to continue okay. Has anybody else had one? Is it worth £95? DH thinks it's worth it to calm my nerves and clarify the dates.

CluelessDil · 17/02/2015 21:37

Not had the best week, glad there's been some nice news on this thread. I've had a bad case of d&v (mostly d, sorry for tmi) has felt more like a bug than symptoms but who knows. Think I'm over the worst now....

Feeling more confident as the days pass and feel delighted I'm on the way to 8 weeks, somehow sounds more pregnant - to me anyway. Probably making no sense!

Hope your nerves are all holding out

Newyearsunresolutions · 18/02/2015 15:25

I had my 12 week scan today, I thought I was 11+3 but I am 12+1. It was wriggling about and had a nice strong heartbeat. I'm feeling so much better now that's done.

MelB2014 · 18/02/2015 16:26

I had a scan at under 6 weeks on Friday Isithappening - and they found a heartbeat even though the embryo is only 2.4mm! I had no idea that was possible.

Mine was done at the EPU via GP referral due to me suffering a miscarriage in December but it has made me feel better having seen that things are 'happening'. Although I would feel much better if I could have one every week... just until we get to that 12 week milestone

I am 6+3 now. I feel so tired and bloated, and I'm living on either sugar or toast and marmite (not very healthy).

abbs05 · 18/02/2015 17:33

I'm six weeks today and had an early scan which just looks like a tiny egg but everything seems normal and good but will have to go back for another scan in two weeks to be able to see the baby clearly but I'm so bursting to tell my friends but want to wait.

MrsEvansAlmost · 19/02/2015 14:46

8 weeks pregnant to something the size of a pecan nut? I feel like a whale already!!/

SSSMITH87 · 19/02/2015 16:37

Hi
I had an early scan at 7w 6d, and it was well worth the £95. Got to see the heartbeat, that it was where it should be and actually helped it all sink in (although it still hasn't totally sunk in). I would definitely recommend one :) in the grand scheme of things £95 isn't a massive amount if it puts your mind at ease.

Gucci198225 · 19/02/2015 17:20

I had a miscarriage on my birthday in November I was 8 weeks and told a lot of family members on my husbands side and my dad when I was pregnant with that one, I am now 8 weeks tomorrow so very anxious and worried, we have only told my husbands mum and my dad this time and well my best friend who is pregnant at the same time (four days behind me). So I know how you feel about wanting the 12th week to hurry up and come around. ??

CluelessDil · 27/03/2015 10:32

I know I was missing in action from this thread, my 12 weeks have been quite bumpy and I've been quite unwell with sickness and other nasties however... I had my scan today and all is well! It was the most amazing experience and my thoughts are with everyone who is moving towards this milestone.

Will my worries be over now? I doubt it! At least now I feel confident to join the October ante natal club Grin

Another one in the first trimester ;-) . I am just short of 8 weeks (7+5 if my calculations are right) but I am getting an early scan next week due to various long term health issues I have. I'm super excited but super nervous too!

DimpleHands · 27/03/2015 17:40

Anyone thinking of getting an early scan please think twice - I believe the advice is that scans should be kept to a minimum and unnecessary scans should be avoided. I understand that there is some research (although I am not sure how solid it is) that suggests that scans can cause neurological damage to babies.

I don't want to scaremonger and you should do your own research but I think not enough people know that there are potential risks with having numerous ultrasound scans.

If you want to have scans for no other reason than to put your mind at rest/find out sex of baby, or any of these other unnecessary reasons, I really wouldn't do it.

DimpleHands · 27/03/2015 17:51

www.nhs.uk/news/2010/02February/Pages/Warning-over-souvenir-baby-scans.aspx

Further to my post above, this from the NHS is worth a read.

The point there being a link between numerous scans and left-handedness to me is very telling. There is a strong link between non-hereditary left-handedness and neurological damage. For example, a much larger proportion of autistic children are left handed than the general population.

Again, I don't want to scare anyone, but as the mother of an autistic child I wish I had been aware of the research. I will be limiting my scans in this pregnancy to the 12 week scan and 20 week scan.

sophiaslullaby · 28/03/2015 09:51

Morning ladies, I'm 8+4 with first pregnancy. Only DH and boss know (had to tell boss as apparently nearly falling asleep at your desk is not consider productiveConfused). It has been a really long wait but I second DimpleHands comment about the scans -my mum was a midwife and from research she'd do she always advise to go for the minimum of scans.
Then again they aren't going to put women/babies through procedures that are terribly dangerous....so each to their own and what one feels and needs for reassurance. I've not gone for an early scan due to finances really. I think if it was necessary then it'd be free on the NHS -which for some woman it is.

UpNorth74 · 28/03/2015 13:55

CluelessDill ... I remember you and your lovely company from the TCC threads. MASSIVE congratulations :)
I took a small MN hiatus after miscarrying a week before Christmas, but have snuck back in through the side entrance, watching from the wings as I wait it out to my 12 week scan! Currently about 7 weeks .... Slowly approaching how far along I was last time, so sitting super tight.

Hope you have a ball sharing your good news with friends and family after keeping it a secret for so long x

Hi guys do you mind if I join you please?
Ixhave just today found out im pregnant. Clearblue says 2-3 weeks pregnant going by dates I think im 5 + 5 weeks does this sound about right? No symptoms just a week late. However feeling very tired and got metalic taste in mouth. No sore boobies at all.
Very worried as I have had 2 miscarriages and 2 premmies DD1 32 + 5 and DD2 27 weeks exactly. Were very happy but a little shocked as contraception failed.
Getting mild cramping like im coming on my AF :(. Didnt experience this cramping last 2 tmes as I can remember.

Your advice would be much appreciated.
