I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

supposed to say CAN'T justify or afford!

Jackieharris · 27/01/2015 22:05

I'm about 5/6 weeks, not sure. It's my 3rd so I'm a lot more relaxed blasé about things this time.

Just waiting really.

ImpatiencePersonified · 27/01/2015 22:05

Clearly not my darling because I bet you found lots of results to read.... Sounds evil though.
My latest panic is that all of the very very mild (possibly imagined) symptoms from last week have done a runner.... At 5 weeks it's hardly bastard surprising but I keep reading about people unable to function at this stage and it's got me worrying that I have me a big empty womb... Or a kinder egg pretending to be a child.

TakingTheStairs · 27/01/2015 22:10

I am also a member of Team Check When I Wipe Grin

Ultrasound diagnostic Services and London Ultrasound Centre are two places that I would recommend in London for early scans. I used them throughout my last pregnancy. My consultant is doing the early scan in her office this Friday though

CluelessDil · 27/01/2015 22:10

Asking myself the question...do I blink too much?!

I feel so relieved to have found others, I'll be checking in here so it hopefully you lot will too and we can see if our fears subside

Off to google how much sleep I should be getting Grin

Goodnight fellow knicker checkers, hope you and your growing cells sleep well!

Night all!!

ImpatiencePersonified · 27/01/2015 22:16

Blinking, it's the simple things that fuck your over innit!
Night my darlings, hope you and your womb carebears sleep well x

Teaching123 · 27/01/2015 22:32

Don't google how you're supposed to sleep, did that last night when I woke up on my front!! Night all :)

itsnotmeitsyou1 · 27/01/2015 22:37

Another 4 weeks preggo here. Major knicker checker, had a mmc last year and convinced it going to happen again. Plus I've done 4 poas and they're barely getting darker. Generally freaking out. Oh and to top it off, may be made redundant in 2 months. Got to love all the stress at once! I've told partner he is bloody paying for an early scan...tight git.... grumble.....

MrsEvansAlmost · 27/01/2015 23:42

found out yesterday!/docs appointment tomorrow for peace of mind ( to make sure I'm not seeing things) 4 really faint tests!

panicking big time!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/01/2015 07:02

6 +5 today and my scan appointment isn't until 10th March!! Hoping I'll be referred for an early scan. Not going for a private one as the only company near us who do reassurance scans are only geared up for light and fluffy situations. They were rubbish at handling my MMC. DH agrees they were rubbish so we're trying to hold out until the NHS scan!

spudnik1 · 28/01/2015 07:20

Thank god i'm not alone!

i'm 5 weeks. Told my mum and sister last night thankfully my mum reassured me she never had morning sickness with either of us. I was stressing about not feeling sick!

In 2 weeks have my first midwife appointment so i am stressing about that. Also haven't told anyone at work, i work in a lab so i have been soo over cautious all week i'm even wearing gloves to pour water out!

This waiting is killing me i am just going to break it down in to little sections. have to stop googling the slightest niggle. It's just all you have to go off that you are preggers is a wee stick ( or 8) sore boobs and a off stomach.

TakingTheStairs · 28/01/2015 07:51

teaching how are we meant to sleep? Oh, don't tell me. I'm better being in blissful ignorance.

Impatience you made me laugh out loud with "a kinder egg pretending to be a child." Too funny!
I might have done digital tests two weeks in a row to make sure that the pregnancy was progressing.
It's so hard not to look at stuff online in work until I hit the 12 weeks mark and tell my colleagues. I'm in work now but will have to stop posting in about 30 mins as the rest of my colleagues will be in. Early starts have their benefits sometimes. Smile

Sorry about your MMCs DoctorDonna and ItsNotMe That must have been very upsetting.

ImpatiencePersonified · 28/01/2015 07:53

Morning lovelies,

Yep I hear you all... how can that wee stick with a line on it mean there is an actual human being growing in your body? Its properly mental.

I've woken properly tired this morning and am supposed to be "working" from home... I cant see its going to be a productive day.

Oh itsnotmeitsyou1 thats crap timing innit get yourself on the ACAS website (if you Google "redundancy pregnancy" its the first link that comes up for me after the top two adverts. Just make sure that work are treating you fairly!

DoctorDonnaNoble I think thats my worst fear at the moment, MMC - I hope you get your early scan to put your mind at rest.

As for the rest of us, what you all wasting time on here for? Surely it's time to check your knickers and panic some more

Gonna be lonnnnnnggggg pregnancy

sigh

ImpatiencePersonified · 28/01/2015 07:55

TakingTheStairs it only sounds funny because its so ridic but honestly, if its gonna happen, it'll happen to me!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/01/2015 07:59

I 'm meant to have parents' evening 6-9 tonight. But I'm usually asleep by 7:30 at the minute. I'm so tired I might cry. It's meant to be an options evening but I teach a non-option subject and they had full reports at the end of last term, I don't think I'm going to make it!

dinodiva · 28/01/2015 07:59

Hello all, I'm another one counting down the days to 12 weeks! Am currently 6.5 weeks. I had an early scan last week as I've had some spotting, and I'm booked in for another one next week so keeping everything crossed that things are progressing. I found the scan a real relief actually and it's helped me to cut down my knicker watching and try to get on as normal. I'm also eating little and often to get rid of the nausea - oatcakes and cheese sandwiches are my favourite things at the moment. I think I must be pretty lucky - no actual sickness yet and managed to get up for my 6.30 Pilates class this morning!

TakingTheStairs · 28/01/2015 08:05

Impatience Oh dear, but I wonder what toy you would have in there? Wink

dinodiva Pilates in the morning? Well done! I can only barely manage a lunchtime class. Fingers crossed that your scans continue to give you some reassurance.

ItsNot, At the risk of being cynical, would telling work early that you're pregnant give you any degree of protection?

CluelessDil · 28/01/2015 08:09

dinodiva I have Pilates today, have you told the instructor you are in early stages? I was thinking its fine not too as I think it's only really strenuous exercise you need to cut out/be careful with plus I'm hoping all the pelvic whatsit exercises will come in handy! Obviously though I'm questioning everything!

I'm so glad there are so many of us! Will be checking in tonight Smile

FiveLittlePeas · 28/01/2015 08:09

Why would you change flights to train journeys? Surely a flight is quicker and less hassle than travelling by train. And no, it WONT affect your pregnancy.

CluelessDil · 28/01/2015 08:11

its not I agree with takingthestairs I may be wrong but I'm sure there is some extra protection you may be entitled to? Can you have a confidential word with your HR dept?

OP posts:
TakingTheStairs · 28/01/2015 08:13

CluelessDil My osteopath told me that I was fine to continue with pilates as normal until the 12 wk stage when things start to get bigger and have to be taken into account.

CluelessDil · 28/01/2015 08:13

fivelittlepeas there's no evidence to suggest it will harm but I didn't know how I would be feeling (m/s) in a couple of weeks so thought I'd rather feel unwell on a train than in the air, plus where I'm travelling to by the time you add in transfers it works out the same journey time when you add in airport waits too

CluelessDil · 28/01/2015 08:16

Thanks taking Pilates it is then, right I better actually get to work!
