I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

Can I join in? Am 6 weeks yesterday and also lots of knicker checking here too. My dh and I were told we'd likely never conceive again, been 2 years ttc. So massive surprise to be pregnant with dc2. Am massively anxious as don't know if we'd conceive again should something go wrong. Gonna be a long 6 weeks, although booked in for private scan next friday so that should help.
Congratulations to everyone on their pregnancies! X

CluelessDil I did mention it to the instructor because I thought it was best she knew. My yoga teacher has told me to stay away until 12 weeks!

It's so nice that we're all in the same boat and doing the same random checking things! I've spent the last couple of weeks completely not knowing what to do with myself and it's very comforting not to feel like the only pregnant, terrified weirdo out there.

Morning everyone! For every person asking about my redundancy (sorry, is early and I'm too lazy to tag Grin), I work for a very small place, no HR, no steady pay/hour. It was only meant to tie me over until something better came along, but it does pay half of the bills, and it's been running longer than I've been alive - though it was somewhat safe. However, boss wants to cut down on workload/save his money so looks like business is bye-bye. It's not the end of the world, just wish I hadn't been so nice staying so long. The place has quite high turn-over, I felt someone had to stay.

Allstoppedup · 28/01/2015 09:21

Good Morning Knicker Checkers!

I actually had a good night sleep but woke up this morning and had to hug the toilet for a bit Confused

I was hoping for a little bit longer before morning sickness started as I'm going to visit my family next week! Boo!
Oh well, fingers crossed its a sign everything is going as it should!

itsnotme

I was made redundant about two weeks before I found out I was pregnant with DS1, it's horribly stressful but I just hit the job hunt hard and got somewhere just to tide us over! It really did work out in the end and I was eligible for Maternity Allowance which is about the same as the SMP you would have got at your old place if you'd not been there long! I think if you are on JSA you qualify for a Sure Start grant of £500 which can help out too! Good luck!

Newyearsunresolutions · 28/01/2015 09:32

I'm in the same boat. 8 weeks now and the last 4 weeks have gone so slow. Only my Dp, Sisters and my boss know. Only 3 more weeks until my scan.

I miscarried last summer at 9 weeks so next week is going to be an anxious week, if I get to 10 weeks without any bleeding then I will breathe a little sigh of relief. I won't settle completely until after the scan. Even then I'm probably going to still be worrying.

Teaching123 · 28/01/2015 10:28

Miscarrying previously must really make you worry :( I feel for you all, it's such a long wait too.

Does anyone else already feel like they're losing their marbles a bit? I teach maths and am already struggling to function some days (for instance I just forgot how to spell "all" when typing this message - almost put "awl"!!)

No actual sickness here yet, just constant all day nausea starting at about 9am. So that's fun.

Have a good Wednesday all!! Oh, and on the redundancy front, that is really shitty. Makes it all more stressful that it should be already.

Poppytime · 28/01/2015 10:40

Hello, can I join you all in the fun and games?! I'm 5 weeks today with no.2 so very early days, obsessive knicker checking and currently showing massive restraint in not doing yet ANOTHER pregnancy test! Happy Wednesday all!

fixuplooksharp · 28/01/2015 10:48

Teaching123 - Hi!! I am 5 weeks and also a manic googler!! I don't live too far from Norwich :)
Hey everyone, congrats to all!
I have only told my mum, sister and a close friend, it's so hard not telling the girls at work! Who I am sure can notice my ever growing figure, not due to baby weight yet, just that I didn't bother jumping on the new year diet bandwagon and have carried on eating like it's Christmas :)

MrsEvansAlmost · 28/01/2015 10:55

I have no idea how far gone I am! assuming I'm about 5 weeks, no morning sickness and following to mcs I am constantly checking knickers and cm! off to the docs today to confirm I have a sticky bead think my eyes are playing tricks on me with tests!

Allstoppedup · 28/01/2015 11:31

Is anyone else bloody STARVING?

My digital said 1-2 so I think "clinically" that's 3-4 weeks so still really early and I have been ravenous all week...I usually don't really want/like breakfast but I have been having huge helpings of cereal and fruit, then a couple of hours later I'm solo ready for lunch...I have mince and ingredients out to make burritos for dinner for DP, DS and I tonight but I keep beadily eyeing them up and thinking about eating 3 people's worth to myself now!

I didn't gain too much (apart from huge bumpage) with DS, I fear I may balloon to the size of an elephant if I carry on like this for 9 months! Shock

itsnotmeitsyou1 · 28/01/2015 11:43

Thanks All stopped up. It's not an utter disaster, I have a partner who, like I previously said, is a tight arse with money. The plus side to that is there are some savings to lean on for a bit. It's more work keeps me sane! I HATE sitting at home for days on end, gets really depressing. Plus with the pregnancy, it would give me far too much time to worry/use the bathroom 20 times a day.

Anyone already gone off food/drinks? One of my first signs was I can't stand the thought of mushrooms. I usually love them but both last time and this time, I knew I was up the duff as I can't even look at them!

Newyearsunresolutions · 28/01/2015 12:58

I'm starving all the time too, have just eaten lunch and I'm still hungry.

TakingTheStairs · 28/01/2015 15:44

Im not that much more hungry but oh my, the exhaustion is a killer.

MrsEvansAlmost · 28/01/2015 15:49

I'm hungry but I'm already eating strange things! last time I was pg I ate rice with mint sauce on a toasted marmite pitta bread. should of know then. unfortunately that wasn't a sticky bean!

gennibugs · 28/01/2015 15:52

I'm not hungry but god am I shattered. I didn't think I'd feel so tried this early on.

5+4 here and the 12 week scan feels like a lifetime away. Think Im going to have to bite the bullet and book an early scan at one of those Harley street clinics as I'm not sure I can wait the full 12 weeks (and it appears my local hospital often are running behind and don't scan until 13/14 weeks which is worrying me too),

Glad to read I'm not the only one on knicker watch or obsessively googling "cramping in early pregnancy" and other such positive delights!

Choccyhobnob · 28/01/2015 15:56

You could join us on the September anti natal thread but tbh it's so busy I find it hard to keep up/keep track, think we filled a thread with 1000 messages in 10 days so we're on #3 now.

I'm 7 weeks and have got an early scan in exactly one week today as I'm too impatient and just want some reassurance. I just don't want to get too excited as I've heard too many stories of MMC and it's really worrying me. I had some really bad cramping a couple of weeks ago, only lasted 25 mins and was no bleeding but it's still worrying me!

I have hardly any symptoms apart from being starving, tired and having big tender boobs!

Allstoppedup · 28/01/2015 16:05

Oh God mrsevans I am DEFINITELY pregnant as as weird as that sounds, I kinda want it!

Flowers sorry to hear about your previous loss.

I REALLY can't afford an early scan but am hoping that as haven't had a period in 6 months and therefore have no idea really when I conceived I might qualify for an early dating scan?! (I'm going off my digital dates but it would be reassuring to know more!)

MrsEvansAlmost · 28/01/2015 16:24

its most defiantly a shock dp isn't thrilled and hasn't said much to me today/yesterday/ Monday when I found out he threw up!

he told me earlier he isn't excited and has been moping about this afternoon. he came home early from work to be supportive when I came home from docs to confirm I was up the duff. 5 weeks they think so far and have to wait nearly a month for scan as midwife is only here every 2 weeks and the first available slot I'd only be 7 weeks so they don't think it's worth me going in then

DoctorDonnaNoble · 28/01/2015 16:37

So very exhausted today and oh god my boobs are sore today. They seem to be getting bigger, veinier and more sore by the day!

CharlArchie86 · 28/01/2015 16:42

Congrats all! Mind if I jump in too? I'm 5 wks and I've turned into a neurotic maniac! Had some stretching pains and sore boobs but nothing else so far, not even that tired and not really weeing excessively either. I hadno idea you could pay for a nearly scan! I'm definitely looking into this! My mum suffered with MCs and it makes me paranoid. Does anyone know if They can be hereditary? Keeping everything crossed for all you similar neurotic ladies out there!

TakingTheStairs · 28/01/2015 16:48

Sorry your DP isn't being supportive MrsEvansAlmost hopefully he'll come around soon.

Is anyone else having difficulty bending at the waist already? My movement is slightly restricted already. Not ideal with a 14 month old!

itsnotmeitsyou1 · 28/01/2015 17:20

Charl, I don't know if they are hereditary - every woman in my family has had one but to be utterly honest I think it's all down to luck and chance. Which is why the first 12 weeks of being pregnant are such a stressful time! I've gone from trying to find every reason and symptom to prove I'm pregnant, once I find out I am I'm now trying to convince myself it's not going to stick! And I wonder why men think women are the neurotic gender Grin.

I keep telling myself 'what will be, will be', it works sometimes....

ImpatiencePersonified · 28/01/2015 17:35

I hate that we're all so well informed these days, Google has a lot to answer for! Imagine going back 20 years, we wouldn't be panicking as much because we'd all just be presuming we were normal!

They say ignorance is bliss... I buy into that. Although not too sure who they are. Possibly men... Meh

I mean I know piss all about rugby and I'm happy with that.

However I am a complete hypocrite given that I've gone through a whole shift googling "my symptoms have disappeared".

phenomum73 · 28/01/2015 17:53

Hello. I am new to this (forums and pregnancy) so please bear with me. I found out last week that I was/am 6 weeks pregnant ....... I am nearly 42, was told at a young age that it was unlikely I'd ever conceive and my DH and I had pretty much set our only hopes on adoption.
I have never had so many mixed emotions in my life. I don't know how I'm feeling from one minute to the next...tending toward disbelief, then worry with a side order of excited. Just read '...anxious knicker checking, symptom analysing, Ill advised googling....' quote and that is so me right now- I'm generally quite level headed when it comes to matters of health, wellbeing etc but I have turned into a paranoid freak in one week. Anyone else feeling similar. Concern of the hour is a very slight red/brown tinged discharge..... any advice anyone with a more rational mind?
xx

worriedmum100 · 28/01/2015 18:06

Hello - I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and to say I'm bricking it would be an understatement. Over 2 years of secondary infertility, fertility treatment, endometriosis, a variety of uterine surgeries, 2 mc and one MMC and due to have yet more surgery for uterine scarring the day after I got a BFP. Crazy.

I was the Queen of " my symptoms have disappeared" over the weekend. They are back today! But I still took a Clear blue digital to check it still said 3+. Thinking logically (for a mere nano second) my symptoms are worse when I'm tired. So a lie in at the weekend and pottering about with DS = less symptoms. Full day at work today with 3 hour commute = feel shit. Mystery solved.

Private scan a week away......
