I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

I am 9+3 and feel like I'm going nuts with anxiety. I've spent money I don't have on 3 scans so far! It is my first, and an unexpected pregnancy. Although I am so excited about having a baby, I think not having planned for it is making me more anxious. I'm also so sick with it that I've not been at work for a few days and I'm so miserable. I hope I'm not alone... Or that this is normal(ish)!

phenomum73 · 29/01/2015 21:05

Good luck pinkie.

Anyone got tips for bloatedness? peppermint tea not doing it. My 'gut' is swollen, hard and uncomfortable from boobs down tonight :-(

phenomum73 · 29/01/2015 21:11

Bless you LVG.
Reading through this thread-Yes anxiety is completely normal and you are most definitely not alone. Hormones and emotions are all over the place.
I take it the 3 scans have all been good news?- try and take some comfort from that.
My pregnancy is unplanned and most definitely unexpected-biggest shock of my life so far..... and half the time I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared beyond belief-tends to come in waves.......
Sorry about the sickness- what are you taking/doing to try and help?

CluelessDil · 29/01/2015 21:14

So nice to read about you all! Well another day almost over. Still no nausea for me but I'm as bloated as anything. phenomum I usually try peppermint tea if I'm really bad but I don't have any in. Feel like I look 5 months pregnant instead of 5 weeks (I wish I could time travel to 5 months!)

I was thinking today I wonder if this sheer panic mild worry is training for all the worry we'll have for the rest of our lives if all goes well and we have a little person to look after!

pinkie87 · 29/01/2015 21:31

Thanks phenomum. Hope the bloating eases up! I have had the same this eve, but haven't managed to ease it yet.

Really like this thread, nice being able to cross off another day on the calendar and being one day closer to 12 weeks with lots of women feeling equally as grotty/nervous! :)

Teaching123 · 30/01/2015 02:40

Having to get up to go to the toilet in the night at 5 weeks is just unfair!!!

alien11 · 30/01/2015 06:15

teaching ooops not good but at least it's a symptom .still none here.extremely worried I have had a mmc/no baby there. Have 6+ weeks until anywhere near a scan so this should be fun!

Mumwannabe82 · 30/01/2015 06:52

hi ladies can I join xx I'm 5 weeks tomorrow going by ovulation instead of lmp and the next 7 weeks is going to be llloooonnngggg!!!
Alien were you on the buses??? Xxx

alien11 · 30/01/2015 07:01

Yes I was

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 07:14

I'm the same with symptoms alien I'm also worried I'm inventing them and the only true ones I can rely on is no period and bfp's! I think I'm bloated but then it's usually after meals so I'd be bloated anyway. I think I have sore boobs but this has also coincided with me getting new bras so I'm doubting myself!

Also in my first two months of trying before my af came I had pregnancy symptoms galore... This month when I got my bfp I was convinced af was about to start. I've now lost the thread of the point I'm making, pregnancy symptom?

The point, I think is that I'm going to try and stop worrying about lack of symptoms, it's still early days and some lucky ladies never experience nausea etc. I'll still be knicker checking though!

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 07:18

Oh yeah my point was I'm obviously not someone who's overly in tune with their body... Is there some kind of course for that Grin

Hi mummawanabe sounds like we are roughly the same time along. Agree this is going to be a long wait!!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 30/01/2015 07:20

I'm having a wobble. I've convinced myself it's a MMC again. Although I have now discovered that it should be possible for the midwife to refer me for a reassurance scan in weeks 7-8. My lovely sonographer friend who used to work in EPU but still works in hospital as said she'll see me if they won't refer.

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 07:27

What's making you think that doctor? So sorry to hear you are worried but as it's happened before it's only natural even more than usual? I'm glad you have a supportive friend who can give you proper medical advice, I hope that's a comfort

lovesmycake · 30/01/2015 08:55

Oh Doctor sorry your having a wobble I do think recurrent miscarriages are not common I hope you get some reassurance soon.

I have most definitely got baby brain already - when I filled in the questions before I had to google how old I was Blush and at my booking in I had to ask DH what his date of birth was complete mind blank. God knows what the Dr thought!

I told my boss. I'm pretty rough with all-day sickness and found if I can work from home every now and again it makes a huge difference to how well I cope. So told him and swore him to secrecy!

Arrggghhhh, totally in the same boat. I'll be 7 weeks on Monday, but when I even say that I feel stupid as I can't believe anything is in there/still in there. Making it worse as I had some symptoms right at the start - big sore boobs, weird pains, spots, constipation, but they've all disappeared, and not a jot of sickness/tiredness/hungriness (well no more than usual on the last two). Makes you think its gone awry.

I haven't even got my booking in appointment until 24th Feb - why do they make you wait so long?! Tempted by an early scan, but keep telling myself not to be silly.

Anywho....

  1. How old are now/on your due date - 33/34
  2. When is your due date- not sure yet. According to NHS site 23rd Sept
3 how long were you ttc- 2 months 4 Where are you- Nottingham 5 Who is at home calming/testing your nerves - DH and large, fluffy, sociopathic cat 6 What kind of birth would you like - ha, not thinking about THAT yet, but one that doesn't hurt?! 7 Have you thought about names - Not yet
  1. Will you find out the sex - yes
9 What's your current occupation - brand/marketing type stuff 10 What symptoms do you have - see above, none! (does grumpiness at abstaining from booze count?)
CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 15:20

Hi wasweb I feel quite relieved someone lea doesn't have lots of symptoms (yet) I keep reading it's perfectly normal and common but still it's good to know others are in the same boat.

One thing I am feeling is tired today, but not sure that is different from any other Friday. I also feel this is the longest Friday afternoon in the history of Friday afternoons!!

Tell me about it......I am working from home and in massive procrastination mode. Knackered too, and feeling coldy/sore throat/eyes, but don't think prego related, think more likely from my week in London surrounded by tube germs!

You mentioned about not drinking at big events, well last night was the biggest in my industry's year - black tie, swanky Park Lane hotel, Jimmy Carr compere - usually unbelievably huge piss up. It was so hard, but think I got away with it. Had a number of 'G&Ts' (soda and lime), waved a glass of wine around and poured bits away/lost it/left it in the loo, and managed to hide when the shots came out. V hard as as I am usually the one inciting the shots! Luckily because its such a big do and everyone is so hammered, I sloped off about 12 and only started getting 'where are you' texts about 2am which I could explain away this morning as me having been so pissed I put myself in a cab. Definitely not as much fun as in usual years!

alien11 · 30/01/2015 15:50

the days have been draaagggging since i got my bfp! Seriously since I had DD the days, weeks, years have flown by now they are dragging. So much time to think, last time I was working full time teaching. now a sahm and too much thinking time
still no symptoms! with DD i felt sick but never threw up. think i must be about 6 weeks pregnant . how have you worked out exactly? 6 + 3, etc? date of lmp?
I have a friend and her hubby and little boy coming round to ours for lunch at the weekend, im going with the traditional im on antibiotics when the wine comes out!
waswebb my booking appt isnt until 26th feb! so even longer.
im going against an early scan i think, never had one with dd. i was just so shocked that there was a baby there at the 12 week scan as hardly any symptoms!

when is it bedtime?!! ive resorted to sticking frozen on for the millionth time , to kill some time its been a long boring day with DD!

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 17:27

Work is finally over!! Grin

Sounds like you did amazingly well at your event - that's sounds like a tricky one!!

Enjoy frozen - maybe I need a bit of that in my life... I should sing 'let it go' every time I want to do some manic googling.

hi everyone, mind if I join in?

I'm about 2/3 weeks from conception or 4/5 weeks from first day of last period(these dates are so confusing)

The last 2 days my breasts have been soooo sore and I've had a bit of nausea.

This is my first pregnancy and we have been trying for 14 cycles to get pregnant.

my sister has a miscarriage at 11 weeks 18 months ago and I'm so so frightened of the same happening to me. Every time I go to the loo I'm checking for blood and time seems to have slowed down so much.

How do you guys cope with the worry??

CluelessDil · 30/01/2015 17:37

Hi invisible, for me reading posts/posting here helps. Just makes me realise there are so many people going through the same. This weekend I'll be distracting myself by watching some films and trying to relax...

Good wine and shot dodging! I'm driving to the pub tonight, have said it's too cold to walk that far, so far my friends are just pleased that I'm giving them a lift!! Enjoy your Friday evenings :)

scarednoob · 30/01/2015 18:07

hello ladies, can i play??

found this by googling obsessively "5 weeks, 4 days cramping" followed by "5 weeks, 5 days no symptoms" followed by "urrrrgh shoot me now". so glad to see i am not the only one who is perplexed by this and not feeling pregnant yet! to answer the questions:

  1. How old are now/on your due date - 37
  2. When is your due date - late September
3 how long were you ttc - 1 month 4 Where are you- London 5 Who is at home calming/testing your nerves - 1 very patient OH and 2 budgies 6 What kind of birth would you like - at this stage, anything at all, so long as i get that far 7 Have you thought about names - a little bit. thousands of nice girl names. hardly any nice boy names.
  1. Will you find out the sex - in theory no. in practice, will i have the patience to wait?!
9 What's your current occupation - lawyer 10 What symptoms do you have- sore boobs, minor cramping, OH would tell you i'm moody; i would tell you it's because of him!!!
