I thought the 2 week wait was bad, anyone else in first 12 weeks?

Hi all

I'm about 5 mins pregnant (4 weeks) very excited but also terrified. I'm not generally a worrier but I'm just so desperate to get to 12 weeks, I also can't wait to share the news.

I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat who would like to chat here until there 12 weeks is up? I found it quite comforting on the ttc board to keep returning to the same thread.

Also wondering who you have told and what your experience was like? My DH was over the moon but I've regretted telling my line manager, she's very sensible and said things like don't tell anyone else (I wasn't planning to) and that miscarriage rates are much higher than I think - this hasn't helped my worry! I only told her because I had some flights coming up that I wanted to change to train journeys and I thought I'd just be honest about needing time off for appointments.

Anyway I'm rambling, mostly it would be nice to ask those of you in the same position questions like how you are planning to cover non drinking at big events etc

It would be nice to 'meet' some fellow pregnant ladies Smile

Takingthestairs so pleased the second scan went well. I'm going to book an 8wk one to stop me going crazy. Local private group costs £80. Anyone know if this is about normal? So lovely to hear all your experiences and its a relief to know I'm not the only one panicking!

TakingTheStairs · 01/02/2015 00:44

Thanks Charl
I think £80 is at the low end of the scale. Mine was part of my consultant package (if that makes sense?) but

TakingTheStairs · 01/02/2015 00:47

Sorry posted too soon
Was going to say... But an early scan in a clinic that I used for my last pregnancy was £150, so £80 isn't too bad

Hope it goes well. Let us know!

alien11 · 01/02/2015 08:17

6 weeks & 2 days here... Arrggghh it's dragging. Only 26 days until booking appt. fingers crossed all goes ok until the scan and that it's pretty soon after the appt!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 01/02/2015 08:24

I'm a week ahead of you alien (going by LMP). I've got my midwife booking in appointment on Wednesday. Hoping for reassurance scan referral. I don't think I can keep this secret much longer!

alien11 · 01/02/2015 09:05

I wish I could have some reassurance somehow. I have cramps this morning Hmmam so tired and stressed

GoooRooo · 01/02/2015 09:52

CharlArchie86 my 8 week scan is £95 so I think £80 is a bargain!

alien11 · 01/02/2015 12:09

How are all your symptoms?

CluelessDil · 01/02/2015 12:23

My boobs have become more obviously sore but that's it, no nausea and no tiredness that's out of the ordinary. Another thing I've noticed is that I'm waking up in the middle of the night, this is really unusual for me.

Pinks22 · 01/02/2015 12:27

I still have nothing, I too wake up in the night and I'm really thirsty all the time, but nothing else. I've read up on chemical pregnancies and now I'm really worried. I just want to cry all he time I'm so upset and I don't know what to do

cremeeggboycotter · 01/02/2015 12:37

Hi OP, I'm about 3 weeks pregnant (2-3 last week on clear blue). I'm feeling the same , excitement and apprehension. Chatting would be good for me too :)

We've told no one yet not until I've been to the doctor and got confirmation. My DH is very excited too. I have to tell my manager on monday due to the high risk nature of some of my work. We're telling family and best friends next week, no one else until after the 12 week scan.

I suspected for about a week before I took the test, until after my period was 3 days late. My nipples were so sore and breasts so hot, at first I though PMT but after a a week I started to wonder but I tried not to let myself wonder if you knuncertainityow what I mean? My body has tricked me like that before. I was just careful no alcohol and keeping up vitamins (although now I suppose I have to switch to prenatal ones, can anyone recommend any?). My skin has been driving me to distraction now though, getting face flushes occassionally and dry skin. The only other symptom I've had so far is bad bad constipation, I think my IBS has gone a bit mad.

Did anyone else get aches in their lower belly or behind the belly button? I can't tell if it's the constipation or not and it does worry me. Have also been knicker checking.

Teaching123 · 01/02/2015 12:37

When I was pregnant with my DD I got to over 7 weeks with nothing, and had no idea I was pregnant, just to reassure you Pinks. It's quite common, I know you'll worry though still.

I have the worst neausea I have ever felt, for a week now, no sick though. But it's making life rather shit at the moment - and I'm still worrying anyway!!

cremeeggboycotter · 01/02/2015 12:54

Pinks, my aunty had no symptomss whatsoever only a massive bump gain around month 4. Have you taken clearblue test?

MrsEvansAlmost · 01/02/2015 13:12

I'm 5 +3 weeks, lots of cramping and sore boobs. also after starting folic acid I've had diahorrea (sorry tmi!) and cramping stopped stopped temporarily. so I've started to worry.

has anyone else had their booking in appointment with the midwife yet? x

Pinks22 · 01/02/2015 13:18

I haven't taken the clear blue test, only a billion random ones from boots, all with varying strength of lines which freaks me out. Will go and get a clear blue today, but I'm terrified of what it will say..

alien11 · 01/02/2015 13:25

Pinks22 if you have no period I'm sure you are defo pregnant with all the lines on the tests. I will be getting yet another clearblue Digi next week to triple triple check the number of weeks

Glitterball86 · 01/02/2015 13:26

6 weeks exactly today and I feel all of your pain :/

Have been knicker checking also and my mum got me some travel sickness wrist bands (suitable for use when pregnant) which have stopped the sickness but am still getting nausea and as for sore boobs, wow I have never felt any pain like it!

Have done about 15 tests now (all bfp) the last on Friday evening which said pregnant 3+ so I will try not to do any more now (ye right who am I kidding lol)

Getting a call tommorow with my booking appointment date and have booked an early scan for 12th feb (to confirm it is all real and I am not imagining it)

Happy and healthy 8ish months now too all of you xxx

Mumwannabe82 · 01/02/2015 14:13

joining you on the digi test check next week Smile

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 01/02/2015 15:12

Could I please ask for some opinions please? My dh's parents are coming over next weekend before they go to Australia for two months. So far we've only told my parents. I will be 10+4 with my first. Do we tell them? It will be my dh's last chance to tell them face to face. But... Dh's parents also treat the production of grandchildren like a competition, and my dh's brother's wife is pregnant (due 5 weeks before me) and if something goes wrong for me, I'm not sure I can bear them all knowing. That said, we'd tell them at 12 weeks via Skype anyway and there's no guarantee that something won't go wrong after that... Help?! So unsure of what to do!

GoooRooo · 01/02/2015 15:18

I would tell them Lorelai - it will be lovely for your DH. If the worst happens you would no doubt have told them anyway so that he would have support and it will be great to see their excitement for their son (and you!)

cremeeggboycotter · 01/02/2015 15:34

What does you DH want to do OP? I'd go with that since it's his parents so if he'd prefer Skype I'd go for that.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 01/02/2015 19:09

I think dh would like to tell them and I'm feeling a bit mean asking him not to. But then he often tells them things/involves them in things and is then upset/disappointed with their reactions/behaviour.

martinsgirl · 01/02/2015 19:40

Hey girls, can I join too? Got my BFP yesterday, which would have been cd124 (!) so absolutely no idea how we managed it! Looks like I'm about 4 weeks although obviously can't be sure. Had blood test done last week as part of investigation into the crazy long cycles, so waiting til I speak to doctor later this week before we tell anyone. Only symptom I've had so far are really sore boobs, hope that doesn't last too long!

ElleyBear13 · 01/02/2015 20:22

Hello ladies! I'm 10+2, second pregnancy lost first little one. I'd highly recommend ultrasound direct! We had one at 9w1d and it was certainly worth the £110 . Less than two weeks till I'm 12weeks but i still dont have my routine dating scan with the nhs date yet arghh! The past weeks have gone so slow but since the scan they have started to speed up! xx

CluelessDil · 01/02/2015 22:22

Congrats martinsgirl that's amazing you must be so pleased. Welcome to all the new posters!

So I had a weird day... Visited a close elderly relative and she put her hand on my stomach and looked at me square in the eye and said 'are you pregnant?' I lied!! I said no I've just put on weight over Christmas and not taken it off yet. I felt a bit guilty, that's the first time I've had to outright lie and I wonder how many times I'll need to do that. If this bloating doesn't go down I'll probably have to do it quite a bit!
