puppy I'm nesting too! Unfortubately, the cat seems to be excessively malting atm which isn't helping!

foody i haven't washed everything..am I a bad mum already? Think it's because I'm worried she won't fit or be a boy so I don't want to take all the tags off!

OP posts:
PuppyMummy · 05/05/2014 16:40

kitty I haven't washed everything either.

I have washed a couple of sheets and blankets and 3 sets of little clothes and 3 bigger ones (for hospital bag) and thats it.

We hav already got so much stuff that if he is big-ish some won't fit or we may have more than we need.

ill wash as we go then I can leave tags on until i know we need things.

we did a test drive to hospital today! v exciting! Grin

BlindKitty · 05/05/2014 16:44

6 sets? Oh...

OP posts:
PuppyMummy · 05/05/2014 21:02

he he! Smile

I hav 2 sleep suits and a going home outfit (sleep suit, hat, cardigan! - thought best not to stress about actual clothes!!) in first size (7lb) and then the same in the next one up (10lb).

Hopefully that will work whatever size he is. And is based on us not really having to stay in long.

For other eventualities I hav no idea what oh would end up bringing from home!!!!

Tallyra · 05/05/2014 22:05

I don't know what you mean by a sleep suit but bear in mind the baby needs to be able to be strapped into the car seat, so a sleeping bag type thing is not good to go home in. Baby grow onesies are great though, we practically only use them still.

Foodylicious · 05/05/2014 23:19

We have only washed the new sleepsuits, (by sleep suits i mean long legged and long sleeved baby grows) vests, hats and muslins and a few other bits. These are mostly all white. All the other stuff we have is 2nd hand from my sister and a couple of friends, and still smells of the laundry liquid they use so may wash it at some point but not the end of the world if we have to use some of it. Still waiting for crib matress to arrive and could do with getting a few sheets. Got my step mum making some and a couple being made by the matress people.

how many blankets should we have all together do you think? So far we have 3 and 1 grobag.

successful dryer mission today, got it in the back if the car and is in use already.

BlindKitty · 06/05/2014 06:08

foody good work!

Guys, am I crazy not to have a dryer?

OP posts:
PuppyMummy · 06/05/2014 06:52

tally what foody said re: sleepsuit. - long sleeved baby grow with feet on!
Im not just goin to shove him naked into a sleeping bag!! Grin Grin

kitty I do love my dryer. only got it cos I was given one by my mum about 3 yrs ago. I recently got a new one and its really good!
I don't put everything in it by any means but I guess a lot of baby things will be dryer 'safe' so will be useful.

BlindKitty · 06/05/2014 07:21

Lol @ *puppy's naked baby!!!

So first day of mat leave and I'm bored already...defo started too soon

Kitty I want you to write a list of all the things you won't be able to do for a while once you have a baby and work through it enjoying them while you still can... I will start you off;
Long hot bath with book
Make lunch and eat it with two hands
Eat dinner at the same time as DH
Go for a nice wander around the shops and try on some clothes

CatsCantFlyFast · 06/05/2014 09:14

And I am going to live vicariously through you so you need to tell me about all of the lovely things you get up to!

BlindKitty · 06/05/2014 12:19

Ok well so far I just went back to bed but I'm guessing you would kill just to do that atm!
I do actually have plenty of housework to do but I prefer ignoring it

Just back from consultant appointment - went in all prepared (research printouts etc.) to argue why my low Papp-A meant I needed extra growth scans. Had a lovely consultant who was really listening and was happy to support everything I wanted. It slightly took the wind out of my sails, though in a good way.

The only annoyance is that he said it is best to start baby aspirin earlier for best impact on placenta health, which is frustrating as I've been trying to get this appointment for nearly two months now at least partly because I wanted to know whether I could start taking aspirin, but better late than never.

Anyway, am much relieved to have the scans approved and my concerns taken seriously. And three extra chances to see the baby Smile !

Foodylicious · 06/05/2014 14:56

That's good jess, glad it went well.

So trying not to fret but have just been to 24 weeks appt and am measuring small so they have requested a scan within the next 48 hrs.

Baby was measuring slightly big (but evenly) at my 20 week scan, I measured fine at my last 2 appts (31 cm ay 31 week appt).
Was only 33cm today. Not a massive drop but when plotted on the chart it crosses over a centile so is an automatic referral for a scan.

Baby feels bigger & stronger to me day by day so trying not to worry but it has upset me more than I thought it would (IYSWIM) Sad

So now just sat on phone watch waiting to get a call telling me when to go for the scan. Hope they call today even if they cant see me that soon. The waiting to hear is driving me mad already.

kitty give yourself time to wind down, I am thinking it will feel very odd in 2 weeks when I am in your position.
Re dryer kitty how warm is your house & how much drying space do you have??
We do not have much space and the house was built in 1850's (cold and a bit damp in winter though its alot better than it was 3 years ago when we moved in!) so the house would look like a launderette permanently without the dryer! I am also very, very lazy. The baby clothes I hung out on the indoor airer on Sunday eve were still a bit damp yesterday eve - would be dry in an hour with the dryer.

Anyone else had to have extra growth scans??

CatsCantFlyFast · 06/05/2014 15:07

Good news jess, and extra scans are a bonus too!

Foody I am sure everything will be fine. The measurements are loose at best and baby position also makes a huge difference. Scans aren't much more accurate either!

BlindKitty · 06/05/2014 16:01

jess great news re consultant! Know it's frustrating waiting for the appointment but at least you know the baby is ok

foody they get the fundal length wrong all the time. The scans could just be precaution so try not to worry

House is warm and do have drying space but might consider getting one at some point soon if the situation is horrendous

Foodylicious · 06/05/2014 16:26

I guess you don't need to decide now, if the laundry mountain get too much you can order a dryer inline and have it in no time! Life is soo much easier thanks o the tinternet Grin

Foodylicious · 06/05/2014 17:53

Seriously not amused - just posted something on our FB page and it did not load properly at first so I closed the page & opened it again and it was on my main home page!!!
had only 1 comment from a close friend thankfully and someone else sent me a PM.
Really not something I would post for a general opinion about.

And I was definitely on our page, I always check first

jessplussomeonenew · 06/05/2014 18:35

Foody, I second Merk and Kitty's comments about fundal height being a really unreliable measure - the midwife was trying to persuade me that I didn't need growth scans unless bump measurements were out, but I wasn't buying that as it's just not the same accuracy as a scan!

Hope they get back to you quickly and minimise the agonising uncertainty.

And eek about Facebook posting outside of the group - glad not many seem to have seen it before you realised!

BlindKitty · 07/05/2014 07:05

I'm just glad I didn't post about the perineal massage on the main page!!!! Can you imagine?!?!

Guys, I have 4 spots! Do you think this is a sign the baby is coming (??change in hormones) or is it just wishful thinking and I should just accept that the second trimester passed by long ago?!

So today I'm meeting my lovely friend who's just had her 2nd mc (5yrs ttc). Really hoping I don't make her worse being so pg now..

BlindKitty · 07/05/2014 17:21

puppy mine hasn't said anything about being engaged yet . Think a night on the birthing ball might be on the cards tonight!

Lunch with my friend went as well as could be expected. Lots of tears but then she needs to grieve. Certainly makes me very thankful for what I've got atm...
