Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, first trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a long time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

foody I will take a look
In merkin world I have on a new pair of maternity tights and they don't have a hole. They're just more generous across the bump. And I have discovered a pair of boots that fit fine a few weeks ago now feel like they are chopping off my toes. Fat feet and hairy nipples, how lucky I am Grin

Thundercatsarego · 23/10/2013 08:18

Did you sleep any better merk?

BelissimaLol · 23/10/2013 08:57

Dr merk will you please look at thunder's scan pic on fb and let me know what she's having GrinGrinGrin

Thundercatsarego · 23/10/2013 09:42

It should be on my mn profile too hopefully. merk said boy from the 12 week one....

Angelina77 · 23/10/2013 11:44

Really Boom? 7 + 3? was it the heartbeats or could they see the embryos? I'm still at least a week away from my 6 weeks scan but I think time has actually slowed down :(

Tried Gaviscon tablets but they haven't helped and just get stuck in my teeth. I was in so much pain last night, really sharp stabbing pains in my stomach about 2 inches below belly button. I don't think it's baby-related as it does go away eventually but it's weird how it's always the same place, if it's trapped wind, wouldn't it be all over in random places?

Don't want to see the doctor again as I've been twice and phoned twice since last Monday Blush

Tallyra · 23/10/2013 11:48

prof merk, what about me, am I going to be boy or girl? I don't think we are going to find out, but I'd like to.

ugh. flu jab in 5 mins.

Tallyra · 23/10/2013 11:56

that was nothing!! they are making me sit in the waiting room for 5 mins to make sure I'm ok, but I've had so many needles stuck in me I hardly even noticed it!

Thundercatsarego · 23/10/2013 12:14

I saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks angel I think you should seek advice if you are that uncomfortable.

Boomgoestheweasel · 23/10/2013 12:58

Angel you could see the embryos and their heartbeats, although they were really only blobs at that point. I don't think Gaviscon will help, that's for heartburn and you're talking about trapped wind, ie gas trapped in your intestines. Windeeze are probably the best thing for it, and maybe a warm bath before bed. I always get trapped wind in the same place, or it feels like I do. I agree with thunder though, do ask to see someone. I'm sure it's not baby related, as you say, but they might scan you just to check it's not an ectopic (sorry, not meaning to try and scare you and going on your description it's highly unlikely)

Tally my arm hurt for two days after the flu jab! But then I'm pathetic Grin

Angelina77 · 23/10/2013 13:08

Thanks, yes I thought the trapped wind may be a result of the heartburn and Boots wouldn't let me have anything else. The heartburn is manageable, I'd better see the doctor for some wind relief.

I don't think they will scan now, only 5 weeks tomorrow so may as well wait for 6.

Foodylicious · 23/10/2013 13:58

Baths are indeed good for trapped wind, just make sure its warm not hot.
Mine kept me awake for ages last night. Lying 10 mins one side, 10 mins on my back then 10 mins on the other side did help with shifting it around. Think the bloating was putting pressure on my bladder, up for a wee 4 times last night!.
Also the 'child pose' can be comfy too.

Foodylicious · 23/10/2013 13:59

This is a good bit about teas - what to have and what to avoid!!

Foody that sounds interesting, will have a gander. (Ps if you tick the 'convert links automatically' box it will mean we can click straight on the links rather than having to highlight, copy and paste into a new browser!)

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/10/2013 14:18

Angel you can buy windeeze off the shelf in boots and it says safe for pregnancy on it
Boy for thunder, although wouldn't have been able to guess from the most recent scan.

Angelina77 · 23/10/2013 14:24

I wonder why they refused to recommend anything then. Oh well, docs at 4.30 so I'll get it for free :)

Foodylicious · 23/10/2013 14:25

yay, it worked!

Boomgoestheweasel · 23/10/2013 15:21

Oooh, nuchal results back. 1: 30655 for twin 1, 1:34622 for twin 2. Happy with those! Grin

I saw that site foody because I used to have a major addiction to liquorice tea and was trying to find out why it's not recommended! I think it's to do with blood pressure but I'm still very sad I can't have it Sad. Have got some tasty cinnamon tea now though so that'll have to do!

OP posts:
Angelina77 · 23/10/2013 15:29

Nice one boom (no idea what nuchal results are but glad it's good news :) )

Thundercatsarego · 23/10/2013 15:38

Oo theyre great boom and much better odds than me too

Thundercatsarego · 23/10/2013 15:39

Perfect foody, and much less fiddly when posting from phone!

Boomgoestheweasel · 23/10/2013 15:53

thunder I am not afraid to give you a good sausage-wanging if you start fretting when you've got lovely low odds yourself!

Angelina they're the results of the Down Syndrome screening you can choose to have at your 12wk scan, and they're nice low risk results Smile

The early pregnancy unit have turned down my GP's request for an early scan as I've only had 2 MCs. Annoyed that GP didn't know this and got my hopes up. The sonographer was lovely though and recommended Baby Bond (there's one here, thankfully) - has anyone used them?

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/10/2013 16:09

Good news Boom
Tally it is basically impossible to tell from a pic on here as they're so small (thunder sent her pic to me on fb) but having said that yours looks female based on the squinty look I did have!
Angel when I had to go to the epu for a bleed they were quite matter of fact with me... If something does go wrong there isn't anything they can do. So if what you are looking for is short term reassurance that everything is ok today, then pay for a scan. However the relief / reassurance doesn't last much longer than a day I'm afraid. At this stage it's a roller coaster as it is out of your hands. Lots of us found an early scan helpful, but at the end of the day having the scan didn't change the outcome iykwim. However I remember clearly just wanting to confirm I was pregnant in the first few weeks, and that was justification enough for me to pay for a scan!

Angelina77 · 23/10/2013 16:20

Yes it is reassurance I need, I know it won't affect the outcome. I'll happily pay £99 for a day's peace of mind.
