Weekipper · 22/04/2012 11:25

Those lists are fab, thanks! I've not bought anything yet as we're moving in 4 weeks.

On another note today when looking at my nipples some clearish milky fluid appeared, it was a bit startling. But after a search on MN it seems normal??

dragonleo · 22/04/2012 11:45

welsh- i would really recommend a couple of maxi dresses for a sunny hol.
I bought a couple myself and they are really cute and floaty and super comfy.
2 more months before my sunny hols- going to France on the train :)

Louper · 22/04/2012 12:39

Hello all - not posted since the 2nd thread... my word time flies! Glad to hear you're all doing well.
At this end, scans have all been good, I am expanding rapidly (like DAILY expanding at the moment - astonishing), and belly button is looking stretched and wierd. Not attractive, but I guess just needs accepting. It's amazing how different bump sizes are at this stage of pregnancy in different ladies.

Am in the Gaviscon food chaser club too - it's so disgusting.

Gnomi, Huia, Poppy et al - I've not got ANYTHING organised for DC1 yet (EDD 23/8) and I'm so impressed by people who are being all organised. I'm in the middle of big professional exams, which will be done in 2 weeks, then am going on last-holiday-as-we-know-it (and 1st hol in years), can't wait (maxi dresses all the way ladies - when you're not pregnant and wear them you look pregnant, when you are pregnant you look fabulous, so make the most of it!). Then after that will start seriously thinking about lists of stuff and what's needed. Likewise hoping friends will start lending me stuff.

To be honest I've only just admitted defeat and ordered some mat clothes - there's only so long you can wear leggings and floaty tops all the time before they get a bit dull! And cut the bump in half...

Re: books I've looked at the Baby Whisperer and think it sounds all very sensible. A friend suggested contrasting reading that with reading Gina's very strict book, then chucking them both in the bin and doing what felt right - sort of informed freestyling, which I think will be my approach!

Re: beverages I'm rocking elderflower cordial in the green bottle with fizzy water. Mmmm. Had a grapefruit juice problem but that's had to stop due to the hideous heartburn!

Have a good rest of weekend!

The3Bears · 22/04/2012 14:11

whiteangel Thats the baby gym we've ordered for ds2 I got mine from jojo maman bebe with the discount code HZ92 it made it £56 hth :) it looks lovely doesnt it.

louper my belly is also expanding daily atm so your not alone there Grin dp even said last night "you are looking very pregnant now arent you?" Hmm

Hope everyones having a lovely day :)

ishopthereforeiam · 22/04/2012 15:30

Welcome back louper

poppy we're in London at the mo but looking at surrey. We've only been looking two weeks (!) but seen a house we both love but want to make sure we're not rushing in.... In terms of viewings we've only been inside three or our but also cancelled a few after driving past and seeing it's not what we're after.

Also realised I have to get to uclh for my c sec the day the olympics kick off Blush. Help!

Hello all. Those of you with the fledgling Stokke obsession I would just like to say we have the Tripp Trapp for DD and at the age of 5 she's still using it, it's brilliant. I am going to invest in the 0-6 month seat to go on it for LO when he arrives. As for the pram, we still have the Mutsy Urban rider that we bought for DD. I was toying with the idea of getting the 4rider light chassis but would prefer to save the money and put it towards a Bee plus next year. We also have a maxi cosi cabriofix car seat which I have found out today I have to check the expiry date on! It may need to be chucked and replaced as we bought it in 2007 and apparently they have a lifespan of 5 years. Needless to say DH was less than delighted by this news but safety first I suppose.

PoppyS34wantssleep · 22/04/2012 17:04

We've been looking in Surrey too ishop :o saw some nice ones but they all get offers put in on them SO quick :( Hopefully if you leave plenty of time you'll be able to get to uclh without too much stress... Confused

The3Bears · 22/04/2012 17:34

Picturethis the 0-6 month seat looks fab on the tripp trapp, I really want to get it but dont think I can justify the cost yet as have to get a tripp trapp first. I had a chico polly highchair for ds1 that we still have so just going to wait and see when it comes to weaning time. I have managed to persuade dp into getting a bee plus next year though, I think there great for 6 months + I really want the all black one Grin
Didnt know about the 5 yr rule for car seats, I just thought they had to be replaced when they'd been in a car accident?

PictureThis · 22/04/2012 18:42

So did I until I read here

ishopthereforeiam · 22/04/2012 20:33

Oh we may end up being neighbours poppy which areas? < being v nosey >!

We only just started looking but trying to keep within the m25... Think we might bite the bullet and put an offer in ... Sooooopp nervous!

Missingpate · 22/04/2012 21:02

Hi everyone it's been nice to read over everyone's news. It had all been pretty quiet here until finally had 20-wk scan at 21 wks on friday. Was in two minds about finding out the sex and decided not to but predictably now wish I had! Also was told have low lying placenta so have to have another scan at 36 wks to see if it moves otherwise c section. Apparently most of them move so going to prepare for birth as normal. Mainly I'm enjoying being able to feel the baby move now, very reassuring at last!

ffscatmove · 22/04/2012 21:29

poppy I'm with you on the marathon Envy... I was due to do my first 1/2 marathon in May in Edinburgh then aim for a full next year... ah well! Haven't run since New Year's Day (went out at 8am to enjoy the novelty of no hangover!) & I do still miss it...
missingpate try not to worry about the placenta, it seems to be a pretty common thing both on here & talking to friends, they mostly seem to shift in time!
Everybody is so busy shopping, I feel like I'm being really miserly tightfisted cautious & hanging on for a lot of things to see what I'm going to really need. Plus Freecycling!
Anyway, time for a quick Brew & Biscuit before my bedtime Gaviscon ;-)

panpipe · 23/04/2012 09:08

Poppy and ishop whereabouts in Surrey are you looking? We moved to Guildford at the end of last year and it's great.

Not much to report here really. Had a lovely weekend and saw SIL who's due a week and a half before me. We're scaring them a bit as they have nothing for their baby so far and their house is upside down as her DH is putting in a new bathroom!

Got my mat leave arranged now too. Finishing on 9th July in the attempt to stop the London commute before Olympic craziness kicks in! 10 more Mondays after this one Grin

ishopthereforeiam · 23/04/2012 09:27

Thanks panpipe were you in London before? We started off looking around so many areas Esher, Epsom, Hinchley, Claygate, Oxshott, Walton on Thames, Weybridge (!) as we don't know surrey well. Main thing is go have somewhere commutable to London... I love the idea of Godalming but dh doesn't want anything too country living!

I always thought I'd go mad on mat leave waiting for baby (bored) but gave up work a few weeks ago and now wondering how I managed to fit everything in?! It's also great being able to nap during the day as I sleep v badly at night. Can't believe with dd I worked up until she came (wrote handover notes in labour) Blush

So impressed with all the marathon runners, they run down our street each year and I always consider it but am way too lazy Biscuit

pintofmilk · 23/04/2012 09:53

Morning all,
Hope you all had a good weekend. You have all shamed me into starting to buy! Had not bought a thing up until last week. Saw all your lists and goodies, got a bit Envy and got shopping.

Now have.....6 sleepsuits!!

Have also decided on a pram after much research. picture you say you have the Mutsy Urban rider!! This is the one I have decided on, picked it as we live in the country and go on lots of walks with rough ground etc. Is it as sturdy as the reviews?

Welcome to the new ladies who joined last week. Smile

weekipper on a more Blush note, mine started leaking at the weekend during sex!! eeek, they didn't leak until about 36/37 weeks from what i remember before. Luckily didn't ruin the moment, DP found it most amusing!!

ffscatmove · 23/04/2012 10:01

Morning all!
pintofmilk glad I'm not the only one then! Had a bit of an Amazon/Ebay splurge last week & am now the proud owner of 1 hungry caterpillar sleepsuit & 2 bodysuit/trouser combos, plus a 'newborn starter kit' (hat, sleepsuit, mitts, bodysuit, booties). Have realised I am absolutely clueless as to what babies actually wear.... don't want to buy loads of nonsense but equally poor child can't go naked! Can anyone direct me towards a thread or similar with some advice, I'm sure there must be one?
Have also been looking at bedding - I have picked out matresses & sheets for the loan Moses basket & crib but what else are you supposed to use? I like the sleeping bags but are they for newborns or do you just swaddle them at first?
Aarrggh am so rubbish, how do I not know these things? Blush

ffscatmove · 23/04/2012 10:02

Just wanted to add am so glad am borrowing a travel system from a friend so I don't have to make that decision as well! Where has my razor-like mind gone [weeps uncontrollably]!

PictureThis · 23/04/2012 10:11

Pintofmilk the mutsy is very sturdy, akin to the volvo of the pram world Grin. It is quite heavy but for in town I've got the little wheels that go on the front. Big plus is the massive hood and almost flat recline of the seat unit that will keep LO very cosy and dry from 6 months onwards. Before that the carrycot is recommended. I bought the maxi cosi cabriofix car seat and adaptors to go on the chassis, very handy at times. The handle is telescopic so will collapse right down if needs be i.e. In a cafe etc where space is at a premium. I live in the country too and the mutsy copes very well off pavement and in the winter weather.

MrsMigginslovespies · 23/04/2012 11:47

Hello all,

Just popping on to say hi and hope everyone is well and had a nice weekend. I've eaten my own body weight in homemade blueberry pancakes with butter and syrup yesterday and today. Sooo yum! Really craving them, oddly. Not bought anything recently except some Mamaspanx for a bit later on when I'd like a bit of extra help and support. Glam they ain't...!

My sister is off to Bicester Village today and I'm hoping the phone will ring at some point with some remote outlet buying opportunties from there :)

Nowt else to add except I'll be 24 weeks on Wednesday which is nuts as time is whizzing by! Have my MW appointment tomorrow so will report back then.

Toodle pip for now. x

Vinolover · 23/04/2012 12:39

Hello all :)

Hope everyone has had a good weekend!

I second you Miggins about time whizzing by. (I'm quite thankful though). I do feel like I have been pregnant forever though and still have over 3 months to go.
I reached 24wks on saturday and it feels like such a massive milestone. I have a mw appointment this afternoon (first in 9 weeks!) and I can't wait. I'm sure it will only be a quick 10 min catch up but I do look forward to these appointments lol.

I popped into my local mothercare this morning for a baby bath and changing mat etc, they didn't have what I wanted but I still managed to spend nearly a weeks wages on outfits and sheets. MUST STOP BUYING CLOTHES!!!

Does anybody else get swollen calves at the end of the day? My feet and ankles are only slightly puffy but my legs seem to swell up quite a bit but then it's gone by the morning.

Enjoy your (wet) monday everyone :)

ishop we were further out, in Hampshire, before so Guildford was a halfway point between actually being in London and getting a lot more house for your money! I don't know a huge amount about all the places on your list; Weybridge is nice and easily commutable and if you're 'discussing' Godalming then Guildford might be a consideration as you have the fast train line and are only a 15 min drive from Godalming! Guildford/Woking are both quick commutes and people also go for the Reigate/Redhill area as that's apparently a good commute too. [takes off Kirstie Allsop-style big-buttoned coat]

I've just had my written acknowledgement from work about my mat leave with pay calculations for each month I'm off. ARGH! We only get SMP so I wasn't expecting megabucks but seeing it written down looks v scary - it's going to be an interesting few months Confused

PoppyS34wantssleep · 23/04/2012 13:38

ishop Panpipe we've actually been looking in a striaght line from Carshalton to Leatherhead, just trying to find somewhere that is commutable to London, but where we can afford a house. No luck yet! Bah...
Good luck if you put an offer in :o
ffscat will you enter next year? HMs are my favourite distance. I entered one for Sept, but did't get a place (everyone thought I was crackers, so I let fate decide. Slightly relieved now!)
I think I'm finishing on either 6th or 13th July, depending on if we get a house or not, so will also be finished before the Olympics battle begins.
Panpipe it's less than 10 more (working) Mondays - because two are bank holidays :o :o
No swollen calfs vino, but I do get puffy feet sometimes.
Needles next time you update your wonderful list, please can you add chelsea & westminster hospital for me? :) I keep forgetting to ask, and i think I'll stay there even if we do move. thank you!

ishopthereforeiam · 23/04/2012 14:25

Thanks panpipe and poppy... I have an irrational fear of being gazumped as it just happened to a friend of mine Sad. I too will only receive smp as have resigned but really needed a rest pre baby!

Fab work on the list needles

poppy yes I think so but will go for a local one, maybe Blenheim (Henley is WAY too hilly!) instead of Edinburgh (the one I'll miss in May). I only started running last Mach & was really pleased to have finally found an exercise I enjoyed & kept at for longer than a fortnight... will have to be v. disciplined & get back on it at soon as I get the all clear post birth Hmm
Vino no swollen calves/feet so far but have invested in medical grade 2 support stockings for the varicose vein I have noticed appearing by my knee Sad - man do I look sexy in them! Grin
Needles can I add John Radcliffe (Spires MW unit) to my stats please? Big thanks for keeping up the list!

Am trying to summon the energy to go and empty all the -crap- important paperwork out of the chest of drawers in the office so I can move it up to the nursery. DH has done a beautiful job of decorating & I want to cover up the burn mark on the carpet!
