congrats Poppy - your wee boy was obviously very keen to meet his mum and dad - hope you feel better soon and cant wait to see pics of your very precious wee boy - the first on our thread.

susie - my 'cankles' are quite something - having to wear flip flops to office - they are SO unattractive!

question - i phoned up to check about my ante natal classes and i get 2 (princes royal in glasgow) - surely thats not enough - i am a first time mum - so sh&tting myself about how little I know - and thought i would get around 6!!

feel really emotiona about poppy's great news and actually got me thinking - can we keep this thread going for ever - i cant imagine not having it!!!

xx

TheRealMrsSmith · 28/05/2012 22:47

Wow! Congratulations Poppy! Hoping you're both doing well. Stay strong x

GwenGotLost · 28/05/2012 22:56

Shock Congratulations Poppy :o wishing you both the best!

GwenGotLost · 28/05/2012 22:59

oh as Scott; I only have 2 days on my antenatal classes too; mine are NCT; I guess that's normal then? Just ask lots of questions if you're not sure. Mine's on Father's Day weekend, so will report back :)
Going to pack a hospital bag for 'just in case' soon, anyone have any suggestions?

therumoursaretrue · 28/05/2012 23:23

I have 4 classes, 10-12 hours altogether. Considering a 1:1 session on hypnobirthing too, had dismissed it but I've found a cheaper option now.

GwenGotLost · 28/05/2012 23:31

The NCT classes are both 10 - 5 so that's about 6-7 hours each, about the same then :)

ishopthereforeiam · 29/05/2012 00:47

Wow poppy sooo pleased for you, sounds like you're both doing well? Hope you and your ds manage to get some rest! Big Wine and Thanks! xxx

needles fab work on the list!

Scottish that's a fab idea , the thread will live on for as long as people want to talk Grin

Soooo tired but another sleepless night looming here!

WelshLadyCDF · 29/05/2012 07:16

I have my hospital bag packed, one in the car for me and one at home for baby, i googled to see what i needed.

I felt teary reading Polly's news too, and more determined to get things a bit more organised just in case.

hamncheese · 29/05/2012 07:51

Good morning poppy, and baby poppy, hope all is well :)

Haha susie I know exactly what you mean about the boobs sitting on the bump. I hate it sleeping at night they are EVERYWHERE!

I also want this thread to go forever scottish. Do mumsnet do groups or anything like that? I know there was a facebook one for this thread; is that still going??

NeedlesCuties · 29/05/2012 07:54

scottish when I had DS back in Feb 2010 I joined the 'post-natal' group in the same MN section 'Becoming a Parent' and it was great in the early days talking about feeding, night waking, cute things our baby was doing etc etc. We could do something like that :)

I'm still feeling the love for Poppy and her LO, kept telling DH last night about the baby even though I'd told him about 4 times Blush

MrsMigginslovespies · 29/05/2012 09:03

Finally got a signal from the Highlands and what amazing news, Poppy!!! What a time to miss the thread by being away Wink Am so happy for you that you're both ok and baby is safely here!!! A good weight for a wee one and he's in the best care. Hope you've managed to get some rest and are also on the road to recovery and a glass of vino! Am sending BiscuitBiscuit and a Bear for baby. Any names yet?!Smile
Having a lovely time at the cottage. Weather up till today has been fab and we've loafed about the garden in the sun. Cooler today so we may go off and do something. Driving home tomorrow for a day before off again for MIL ruby wedding crazy weekend.
Re canckles. Omg. Mine are horrendous and i look like Elephant Woman. Even my slippers at one point felt tight Blush. Now Ham. What's all this about the appearance of cellulite?! Mine has been vile for years and alas has only become worse with the vast weight gain that has appeared on thighs and bum. Not good hence mamaspanx delight!

Am so excited about the first baby of the thread and am definitely going to crack on when we properly get back next week after ruby wedding stuff with preparations, DH help or not! Wonder who the next baby will be?!

We must stay in touch after babies are here; I was thinking just that the other day, as have found it such a help and comfort. V long post from iphone so heading off for bacon sarnie but sending my best to you all and hugs to Poppy and her new miracle bundle of joy xxx

Vinolover · 29/05/2012 09:09

Congratulations Poppy! Such a good weight too :) I really hope you're recovering well Thanks

ffscatmove · 29/05/2012 09:17

Morning ladies! Am feeling very stupid - after gleefully saying how well etc I feel I am now on an enforced unexpected day off as dissolved into blubbering mess at work yesterday for no good reason :(
Have been so determined not to be the weedy pregnant lady letting the side down think I have overdone it - weekend was awful at work & haven't been getting more than 4-5 hours broken sleep due to heat, plus because I did an extra half day for life support training yesterday was 7th day in a row at work.
Anyway, work have been very lovely but I am very Blush for not noticing how tired I was getting!
Scottish & MrsM I agree, it would be great to keep in touch after the babies arrive - -perhaps an August 2012 Post-natal thread?

NeedlesCuties · 29/05/2012 09:40

ffscat I already said about a post-natal thread, said it this morning! Great minds think alike :)

alisonmcg · 29/05/2012 09:41

still excited by the thought of the first August baby being with us already :) I definitely think that we will need to carry on in the post-natal section! I have a feeling my iphone and me will become best friends during night time feeds so if I can perfect one hand typing with it, having another thread to use will keep me entertained!

Hope everyone's having a good morning even if the sun has disappeared! I'm knackered this morning although not sure why as I think I slept quite well! Had a scare last night as when I went to get off the couch I got a searing pain at the very top of my bump, was so painful it instantly had me in tears, felt like a muscle tearing!! Wasn't scared for the baby as knew it was just muscular but my god did it hurt and has got me scared about contractions and labour now!!!

ishopthereforeiam · 29/05/2012 10:16

oh ffs Brew hope you're ok?

Boobs resting on top of bump - agreed! I feel like a bloody gorilla or female gorilla!?

OP posts:
vanimal · 29/05/2012 10:41

ffs I hope you are ok, sounds like you have been crazy-busy, don't feel bad about not noticing how tired you are.

I think there is such (self-inflicted) pressure to carry on as normal, and be thinking that pregnancy is not an illness etc.

I have also taken a day off, so I can sit at home, watch tv and read. It feels very lazy and self-indulgent, but if you can't do it when you are heavily pregnant, then when can you?!

Enjoy your day off!

warzonemummy · 29/05/2012 11:05

ffs take it easy and have a day OFF.

I am sitting in the garden working and feel like someone in strangling me. I can't breathe well. It is 29 degrees where I am but feels like a lot hotter.

Can't wait for London in a couple of weeks.

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 29/05/2012 11:30

Thank you all so much for your wishes. Saw bump for a few minutes last night & am hopefully going to get cuddles today :)

I will catch up with all the posts when I can focus properly :) am shattered, dosed up on painkillers and it's quite uncomfortable to sit/stand up, but we're getting there.

Even managed to express a few mls as he can take milk.

You are all so lovely, thanks for all the positive thoughts.

Can I still stop on the due in August thread even though a May baby?? :o

xxxx

0FrillyKnickers0 · 29/05/2012 11:40

Oh ffs, take it easy. That happened to me last Thursday. I had a bit of a cold coming on, but the heat made it nigh on impossible to sleep and I just dissolved...literallly. I was full on sobbing! So Blush I got sent home! But do just take it easy!

Well, DH has an interview for another department within Saga (where he currently works). This would be an amazing opportunity for him as he is currently working in sales and he hates it. He's been there for 6 years now and this job would be so good. It would mean a rise in pay and it is a totally different area so it would be something new and exciting. This is the first of several interviews and it's an internal job so there will be a few people going for it. Please keep your fingers crossed for him!!

Lovemarmite · 29/05/2012 12:00

ffs - enjoy your day off and don't feel anything more about yesterday... sounds familiar here at times and I work at home!
I'm having a day off too, am doing some gardening (light stuff) and then a walk later and then might settle in front of a film later on this afternoon... bliss.

Poppy would love to hear how it's all going and so you're still very much part of the gang here - perhaps you can be the first August mummy! Hope you can get cuddles in and hope you can stand and sit a bit better asap x

Good luck frilly DH!

panpipe · 29/05/2012 12:57

Poppy yes please do stick around; we'd love to hear how you and mini-Poppy are getting along :)

I think someone mentioned to me when I first joined the thread that there was a Facebook group? Could someone let me know the details as I can't find it - or I'll happily set one up (I don't spend quite enough time on FB already since I look after my company's page!).

And I must say I'm a little Envy at the errant boobage - mine still haven't got any bigger. At all. No that's not very nice of me; it sounds so uncomfortable but I was really looking forward to developing some mummylicious boobs!

Completely with you about the tiredness; I had a really busy week last week of staying late at work then going straight off to rehearsal, NCT or Lazy Daisy in the evening so by the end of the week I was a wreck. I'm going to cut down on my rehearsals a bit now and maybe see if I can squeeze in a day or two off work just for my sanity!

sc0ttishlass · 29/05/2012 14:29

poppy - hope you get the cuddles today - thats great news :) waiting in anticipation for the name you have given our precious first august baby! :)

cankles still hideous - cant bear to look at them any more.

so glad everyone wants the thread to continue - definately lets have an august 2012 post natal thread to continue with!

oh, and the on the ante natal classes - its only 2 evenings from 6-8pm - so 4 hours - i think that is VERY mean!

oh on an amusing/cringeworthy note - i was writing a list of things wanted to ask the mw about at next weeks appt - i was writing list on a post it note at work - had just written 'discharge' when a colleague 'male' came and stood at my desk and could see his eyes looking at the list - bet he got a shock - I work as an IT project manager so thats not ever a word that woudl be used at work!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

anyway - cooler in Glasgow today so I am enjoying it!
xx

alisonmcg · 29/05/2012 15:41

scottish I'm over in Edinburgh (not sure where you are?) but I received my letter about the NHS classes yesterday and I'm getting three 2 hour classes so 6 hours in total. I can't quite remember what they said happens in each one but I think the first two are about early labour, giving birth and looking after the baby then the third one is about breastfeeding I think. I won't be doing any NCT classes so hoping these will cover everything I need to know!

Lovemarmite · 29/05/2012 16:44

panpipe if you message frillyknickers for FB page... that's how I did it. Fun to see faces, although mine is a silly pic at the mo.

Just overdone it a little bit in the garden... runner beans and sweet peas in, basil repotted, bedding plants not totally wasted and potted up, phew and hurray!
