Rant as much as you want poppy you deserve all the ranting space going. Not fair is what it is. You are doing so good for your little one though Flowers

Haha ishop :)

No marmite unfortunatley all of them rest on the shoulders. Can you wear a rucksack or is that out for you too? If you could do rucksack then wrap would be ok I reckon cause the weight is so evenly proportioned by the material and not being straps.

Cigarette smoke makes me mad. I'm noticing it more and more all the time, can't even have the windows open in this heat sometimes cause of people smoking outside my flat. And no-one seems to care when you walk by, like OH LOOK an obviously pregnant woman, I'll just blow my used smoke into her face because I'm too lazy to turn my head the other way. Bring on the full public smoking ban.

hamncheese · 25/05/2012 20:18

damn it i always do flowers not thanks why is it thanks?!?! Thanks

[FLOWERS EVERYWHERE AHHHHHH]

ishopthereforeiam · 25/05/2012 21:31

Grin panpipe and all fraplovers I think the half price frap thing goes on from 3-5 pm each day til Tuesday so all's not lost!

I know ham I used to smoke occasionally but would always be wary of where and never whilst walking down the road, but vie noticed soooo often I'm walking behind someone puffing away. Having said that lovely group of gents at lunch moved because they saw the bump and wanted to smoke!

Poppy, we've got the Silver Cross Ventura Plus as it comes with our travel system, but looks a goddie anyway.

Interesting Ham re slings etc. Thanks for advice.

Lynnie, that is so wierd, no offence Smile. DId the ash before satisfy your craving?! I think that's called Pica when you crave certain things. I read that people sometimes craved the dust from the top of doors or would rake walls to get plaster off them. Humans are complex creatures!

Have oddly sore heels tonight, like I've been pounding pavements. Hope it's not due to my new Birkenstocks I got yesterday, else it's hideous old dog walking Crocs all summer...

Off to pack then early night, as we're off in the morning for a few days up to my parents' cottage in the highlands till Wed night, so won't be around as much due to no signal etc. Looking forward to the break and hope the weather stays nice, as it's stunning up there when it's sunny and we can sit outside.

Night all, x

tashaw28 · 25/05/2012 22:59

Poppy so sorry you're still stuck in there, if you want any good book recommendations let me know as have read a few brill one's recently.
Warzone hope you are ok too, my friends sis had leaking fluid and practically no fluid at all around the baby from 22 until she gave birth at 35 weeks and all was fine.
Re carseats we are still using our mama and papa's one from 7 years ago but we love it, rear facing for as long as poss is the best advice so don't rush to move them on to the next level.
Let me know if TMI but having been constipated for weeks now I keep waking up with the runs every morning, is painful and is stopping me eating fruit etc during day as am worried about the next morning! Haven't been to Dr's as not sure it's anything, what do u think?

Forgot to say Ham thanks soooo much for sling info, I've been researching myself as have never had one b4 and you've saved me a lot of time!! Think I should go for a Kari me or Moby as I want to wear it on school run in Sept when baby should be about 2 weeks old!!!!

ishopthereforeiam · 25/05/2012 23:15

Ps poppy we have the maxi cosi

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 26/05/2012 02:51

Oh panpipe that's so lovely of you, thank yo. I will let you know and keep you posted :)

ishop I could murder a glass of vino. I was given a small bottle as a present, and if they weren't checking bloods failure I'd be tempted to sneak it in.

ham they've said bleeds are down to low lying placenta, but I don't think even they are quite sure. Last scan didn't reveal anything new.

Love the sling info, thanks for that. Think I might try one out once baby arrives.

Was kept on labour ward last night, and woke up to another bleed at 2am. So am currently back on the monitor and we're both being observed again. sigh

WelshLadyCDF · 26/05/2012 07:49

tashaw ... Hello, any chance you could give us the book recommendations? I have a Maeve Binchy packed in my hospital bag for easy reading would like something meatier for between now and then.

Hope you're all well, my GTT came back clear, just anaemia and swollen feet the size of bricks to deal with now!!

Xxx

Vinolover · 26/05/2012 08:47

Bloody hell Poppy you must be absolutely exhausted, both physically and mentally! :( Do you think they will deliver soon?

Anyone else struggling in this heat? Thank goodness im sleeping ok at the mo but this heat has knocked me for six! I've got to work tonight too which I'm dreading because saturday nights are just so busy and it gets so hot in there whilst Im racing around. I really don't want to go :(
I'm not going to complain about the weather though because it's so nice to have some sun!

I hope everybody has got some nice plans for the weekend :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 26/05/2012 09:31

Well, we're meant to be leaving in 5 mins, DH has only now got into the shower, having faffed about for an hour ironing his shirts and sorting out music AGAIN. Drives me mad. Dog is trembling on the bed as she knows something is happening and hates the car, so could be an interesting day ;)

Anyhoo, hope you all stay well and Poppy you stabilise soon/manage to stay ok.

Back on Wednesday night, here Thurs, then off again Fri for MIL's etc ruby wedding fiasco.

Enjoy the sunshine and pray that it stays nice in the Highlands for me too! xx

panpipe · 26/05/2012 10:37

Morning all Smile

I don't know if it's the heat or general discomfort but I've been awake since 5, gave up trying to get back to sleep so got up at 8 and washed the car! Oddly satisfying having that done by 9am!

Another day by myself today; DH came back from another week away at work last night and has just left for a stag weekend! They have go karting this afternoon and a beer festival tonight. I miss beer Envy. I might pop into town this afternoon to try and find a swimsuit of some description for our holiday in 3 weeks.

Car seat wise we've chosen the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix. The guy in the shop recommended the Pebble which is essentially the upgraded version of the Cabriofix, but I spent a few minutes looking like a wally trying to fit it on and off the demo pushchair so we all decided I'd be better off with the Cabriofix - probably best all round as I'd probably have dropped the poor baby numerous times Confused

Vinolover · 26/05/2012 14:57

What pushchair have you gone for Panpipe? I have gone for the Maxi cosi pebble and haven't even considered how it fits to the pushchair Hmm. Could be a very good excuse to get the pushchair early so I can practise Wink

tashaw28 · 26/05/2012 19:29

Just had our first BBQ of the summer but am so grumpy today, feel like I've done nothing but shout at everyone all day, anyone else like this? So hormonal!
poppy so sorry you're still stuck in hospital. Really hope the bleeds stop now for your sanity!
welsh if u want a good read i've loved quite a few books recently,
Before I Go To Sleep
Into The Darkest Corner
Between Shades Of Grey
Sarah's Key.
As you can tell I love to read!! Also just bought myself Wonder, even though it's for Tweens it's supposed to be great and DD1 is 7 so she can read it in a few years.

ishopthereforeiam · 27/05/2012 04:17

oh no poppy - well if you feel like being naughty I'm in London and can certainly sneak a miniature bottle of wine over Wink

Hope you've all had good days in the sun if you've made it out?

Another insomnia night here so just been googling Rattan garden furniture in the hope that one day soon I actually have a garden...

Going to try to sleep (again) sweet dreams all xxx

geekette · 27/05/2012 07:35

If it lifts any spirits, i am still bucking the trend and feeling on top of the world here! Dinner with cousin last night, lazy day today, absolutely loving the heat!

I remember hyperemesis and bleeds and pains and constipation from my first weeks. My heart goes out to you all. Special Thanks to poppy and war zone

We got a maxi cosi cabrio fix from a colleague.

And thanks for the sling info! Most appreciated. Been looking at a mei tei on etsy and will get it now.

My mum had a way of tying us across her back wo going over shoulders. Seems to be a wrap but I don't know how to do it. Yet.

geekette · 27/05/2012 07:38

And we have a rattan sofa as our lounge sofa. Love it. Goes out in garden with us! But is unconventional...

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 27/05/2012 07:45

geekette I am so pleased to read your feeling good. I feel like I am taking one for the August team, so hope you can all feel great :o

ishop Ohhhh, that would be fab. I crave a glass of wine. If they weren't checking my blood on a daily basis I really would love that :)

Had a pretty goodish night, although I have developed a fear of goings to sleep Confused

A friend of mine lent me a copy of The Help and quite a few people have commented on it saying how good it is. Not started it yet though!

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday.

NeedlesCuties · 27/05/2012 07:59

Hello!

Just jumping back on here as I'd fallen off the thread.

Sending you all Brew and non-alcoholic beer which is what I drank last night when watching Eurovision. I love that comp!!

The3Bears · 27/05/2012 08:54

Hi everyone, Hope your all well.

Poppy Hope your okay x Are you going to be staying in hospital now until you deliver?

We have the maxi cosi pebble too not tried it on Bugaboo yet as got to order the adaptors this weekend.

Geek glad to hear your feeling well, I am feeling good too just a little more tired at night but enjoying the weather and used it as an excuse to go mad in Zara and Topshop yesterday :) I did need some more summer clothes that actually fit though, got a lovely maxi skirt in zara that was only £23 and looks fab with my bump n a vest top so v pleased. What is everyone else wearing in the heat?

WelshLadyCDF · 27/05/2012 09:28

3bears I am mainly in a sundress from h&m at home /out, and in work some linen trousers and tops. I am thinking about a maxi skirt but if it goes under bump it may be too long for me.
I still find it a surprise when people notice my bump, I didn't think it was obvious when in fact it's prob the size of half a football!

hamncheese · 27/05/2012 09:35

Morning all!

Glad to hear you had a better night poppy

3bears I'm wearing as little as possible in the heat Blush. in fact I have not worn a bra in like 2 months it's just so uncomfy I think cause of the short torso and incredible hulk expanding ribs :( so have been wearing vests but now it's so hot wearing a vest and tshirt is too hot but only one and ehm nothing is left to the imagination... dressing the boobs are a major issue currently ha! Did get some floaty dresses at H&M the other day they have a lot and are all like £8-10 so cheap!

Yesterday managed to get the only stretchy sling at the baby market :) Went in and searched all the stalls and no-one had anything... but then saw a moby on a stall and it was grey which was the colour I wanted. Bartered it from £20 to £15 so score!! Really happy as they seem to go for around £30 second hand on ebay! Was practising with my childhood doll (who's name is Jesus... she is a girl baby... I named her Confused ) in the sling it was good fun I'm really looking forward to baby time now, every time I think of the wee one I get all teary.

Like geekette I'm feeling positive as have been sleeping a lot better... being out in the sun zonks me right out... and tomorrow my Mum is bringing over a big chest of drawers she has that will be our changing table/baby storage area so turning our bedroom gradually into a nursery Grin so glad to finally be making plans

alisonmcg · 27/05/2012 09:53

poppy the help is a really good book! Another book that I liked recently (and is quite appropriate!) was babies in waiting. It's a light hearted novel but enjoyable! Also for anyone who liked the girl with the dragon tattoo books you should read books by jo nesbo they are great! They follow a detective called harry hole and really keep you interested! I read constantly, sometimes the books are utter rubbish but will let you know of anymore good ones as I find them !

I'm struggling a bit with the heat too but trying to make the most of it, maxi dresses have become my best friend although with my bare legs underneath them has made me realise it's been a while since I reached for the razor! Blush

panpipe · 27/05/2012 21:43

Vino we ordered the iCandy Strawberry. It's supposed to arrive in July so cross fingers it isn't delayed!

ffscatmove · 27/05/2012 22:22

I can definitely recommend The Help, fabulous book!

Am also feeling pretty positive geekette & ham, although navy blue polyester uniform & hospital temperature (1970's 'air-con') are not compatible with late pregnancy. When I'm not at work I feel fab though!
Anyway off to bed - still thinking of you Poppy, hoe the ward isn't too hot & yucky.
