Hello ladies, I haven't been on this thread for a while, I am due with DC3 on Aug 22. I have a 4 year old and nearly 3 year old daughter, and finding it hard work being so big and tired whilst coping with small people!

We had a lovely day today - big house clean in the morning, and then a birthday party in the afternoon. DH was working, so just me and the DDs.

We got home for 6pm, the girls then read and got ready for bed, but the youngest wouldn't settle - I thinks its a combination of the heat and the sunlight that throws her, and although she was shattered, didn't go down till around 8.30pm, compared to a usual bedtime of 7. I was shattered by this point, DH came home and I told him I was so fed up of her. I feel really bad for talking about my poor baby that way, but had just had enough.

Dinner has been a big bag of crisps and 2 icelollies. Swollen feet and tiredness and DH is out.

Anyone else finding it tough to cope with little ones whilst we are getting bigger?

therumoursaretrue · 27/05/2012 22:39

Hi all, just popping in to say hello. I feel a bit neglectful of you all! Hope you have all been relaxing in this lovely weather.

So sorry to hear your still having a hard time poppy Sad you definitely deserve the right to rant here as much as you need to!

We have got the BeSafe Izi Go carseat, I had more or less decided on the cabriofix until I saw the BeSafe and was so impressed with it. It did work out a bit more expensive and there is only one place which seems to sell it near me, but It scores really well in safety tests so decided it was the seat for us!

I have been enjoying the heat, but dreading placement tomorrow as I'm in a hospital and it's always too warm as it is.

In other news I have been up for BP checks twice this week! It's still high and starting to worry me as I haven't been feeling the best but fingers crossed nothing will come of it.

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 27/05/2012 23:43

ffscat the ward is unbelievably hot and sticky. It's really bad, and not helped by the fear of sleeping I seem to have developed Confused.

Thanks for all the car seat info, that's on my list of things to sort tomorrow.

Welcome back vanimal, I am also fed up of being pregnant. :(

rumours have they given you any medication for your high blood pressure? Fingers crossed nothing develops. X

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 28/05/2012 00:48

Another bleed :( back on monitor waiting to find out if I am going back to solitary confinement.

So ANGRY! what is wrong with me. Bah!

ffscatmove · 28/05/2012 07:18

Oh Poppy you poor thing! I hope it was only a small one & nothing comes of it. I will have fingers crossed all day.
See if your DP can get you one of those cooling spray thingies, I keep one in our tin-can office for the summer - Magicool or something it's called but there are several, Elemis even do one if you want the luxury!

rumours hope the high BP comes to nothing but at least they're keeping a close eye on you.
Hope everyone feels better & has a good day today - supposed to be thunderstorms around so that should clear the air!

hamncheese · 28/05/2012 07:38

Oh poppy that's so not fair! But don't say there is something wrong with you! You are doing so great and being so strong for your baby. Have they said if they have any longer term plan for you if the bleeds keep happening as they are?? Wish I could fast forward you and baby to 40 weeks right now! :( Also I second a cool spray or even a hand held mini fan for coolness, esp one that could sit on your bedside while you sleep (if you manage) even if it is just moving hot air about it feels so much better.

Ok so I know I moaned about the weather for the longest time and have no right to do this at all but... it's very hot, and though I am VERY happy about this, all I want to wear are vests/minimal layers... but I look like a bloody whale. I had a broadish back before I got pregnant and I feel like I look like a man across the shoulders now so trying to wear things with sleeves. But even when I do that I have to wear layers to trap my boobs in. Anyone else's boobs seem to be doing this slouching to either side of the bump thing that is incredibly unattractive? Ugh it's horrible I miss my body so much!!

And finally... anyone else got cellulite now? I looked at my thigh yesterday and ARGH there is a whole bunch of it there and on my bum it's horrible. Things online about it being a store for BF but I'm guessing also cause of my lack of gym attendance since december. UGH. Feel like a right pig just now. End of totally vain rant that I don't deserve to have :(

Hope you all have a good day

NeedlesCuties · 28/05/2012 07:56

Morning everyone!

Sending Brew to anyone stressed by bodily changes, other children, hospital stays etc.

vanimal welcome back! I feel your pain!! DS (aged 2.3 years) went to bed no worries at 7:15pm last night and I was so happy chilling out till DH got home. But it was really warm here last night and DS woke up at 11pm and pretty much just dozed on and off the rest of the night and cried a lot and moaned about the heat.

DH is a saint though and always gets up with DS during the night (woohoo!!) his thinking is that cuz I'm a SAHM it should be his turn during the night and I'd be rude to disagree with him Wink

To answer your actual Q though: I'm not finding it hard looking after DS while being big and pregnant, but I am struggling a bit as I can't lift him much and I feel bad about that. Also, my energy levels are changeable and running around in parks or the garden can really tire me! But just need to keep going till the baby is here when I'll really be tired.

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 28/05/2012 08:25

ham your boob description did make me smile. And after third night of no sleep that's no mean feat! :o

bleed last night was quite a biggy, but still not considered critical (which is good). Night staff didn't even bother transferring me, so guess that must be positive, too.

Also talked MW into taking cannula out for a short while before they put it back in. :o and I have snuck in breakfast between shifts,in case they start starving me again.

Breaking all the rules!

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 28/05/2012 08:28

ham plan is to keep me in while I keep bleeding, review every Wednesday, aim to get me to either 34 or 36 week. But if baby is distressed at any point, or I can't cope with blood loss them they'll deliver me straight away.

Lovemarmite · 28/05/2012 08:53

Ooo Poppy popping in for a virtual visit with Thanks and some Brew & [biscuits].
Thinking of you and your LO.

Our car seat is the maxi cosi peeble and the pram chosen in the cameleon bugaboo although we saw friends that had the bugaboo bee as it was lighter and so we're going back to look again to see if we've gone for the right one seeing we have a few stairs to negotiate at our house.

Yes to bodily changes ham, although boobs have seemingly shrunk weirdly from the first three months when they grew loads. Tummy is looking way large (OK, that is to be expected :) ) but my face has become spot free which is great, legs seem to have grown fatter and my bum is, well let's just say that tunics are just about hiding it?! However I think I've not put on any more weight than baby, fluid etc weight but it's gone into the unwanted place too. Hmm, oh well, at least there's a good excuse! No moans there.
Had tons of kicks, prods and rolls over the weekend and Saturday night in front of the Eurovision, she seemed to dance to every song - hmm, a little disco diva!

Off to hospital for Anti-d shot and a paediatrician appointment this afternoon.

Hope everyone is well x

hamncheese · 28/05/2012 09:36

I'm glad my ridiculous boobs can be of service poppy Grin I miss the way they used to be < wistful look > but DH seems quite open to change these days Hmm

Well at least there is a plan and you know what to expect despite it being so crap. Really hoping for an end to the bleeding for you soon x

marmite with you on the bum but my nice pregnancy skin has ditched me for teenage like flare ups! All those promises of great hair and skin were a lie... bare faced lies!!! Grin

ishopthereforeiam · 28/05/2012 09:41

Nice work on the sneaky brekkie poppy and so sorry it still keeps coming and going. Really hoping the bleeds stop soon for you. You're doing so well tho!

ham OMG -yes - just realised yesterday I had cellulite on my calf... usually I may have had the odd bit at the top of the thigh but I'm (pre pg) in reasonable shape so hoping it all goes. Probably not helped by my ridiculous diet at the mo. Had 3 ice creams yesteday (!) plus a wispa, packet of wotsits and flake yogurt arghhhhh

vanimal you're a saint compared to me! DD is 18 months old. I've quit work but she's still in nursery 4 days a week for now and on the one day I have her it varies from an amazing day to me telling dh I can't cope and she's an absolute pain in the bum! She understands "No" and "Don't do that" but often carries on regardless, very cheeky! I can't lift her as much now either as get abdominal pains and back pains.

Happy sunny Monday all Grin - need to find something productive to do now...

OP posts:
geekette · 28/05/2012 10:10

Hang in there poppy. at least you are in the right place for eventualities and they have a plan. Baby will arrive soon enough and all this will be forgotten (or become the embarrassing story you tell their fiance Grin )

Boobs? What boobs? I never had boobs and still don't have any. Waiting to see if BF brings some much awaited female curves. Have always been boyish and my pregnancy has increased the width of my chest so i look even more broad shouldered Grin for some reason I find it all rather intriguing, at the moment.

I have had cellulite for as long as I can remember. Maybe I was 16 or so when it was first spotted. Can't be arsed about it :D :D :D

Still loving my body at the moment. All except maybe the constipation which comes and goes :)

geekette · 28/05/2012 10:38

Look, look, look! I scored a perfect 10!

I managed to post at 10:10:10!

ishopthereforeiam · 28/05/2012 10:41

Yayyy well done geekette glad someone else appreciates these things, dh always laughs when I say I woke up at 2.22 am etc(!)

Boobs - mine are back (was 34B pre pg1, went up to 34DD when bf, completely deflated to nasty empty looking sacks post bf now bigger again - would love to go back to the original 34b but guessing I will end up with the empty sacks). TMI but my nipples are now humungous!?

OP posts:
Lovemarmite · 28/05/2012 11:12

Ooo... a perfect 10! cool!

Going back to slings - I can't wear anything over my shoulders as I have scars that are very painful and so interested to know how your mum tied you around her back geekette! Sounds like a good idea for me, my mw mentioned this too and so I can quiz her too.

Cellulite... hmm, me not looking Blush

fairtradelu · 28/05/2012 11:17

I'm still as flat-chested as ever. Mum says she was the same until her milk came in and she was so excited she gave the cleaner in the hospital ward quite a fright with her raving about suddenly having boobs!

Had a lovely day yesterday with brother, SIL and their two sons (aged 4 months and 3). DH is sooo excited and it was so lovely seeing him with our nephews. I am starting to get really excited about the imminent arrival - only 13 weeks to go for me now...

Also weighed myself for the first time since pre-pregnancy. Needless to say I got a bit of a shock. Have put on about 1.5-2 stone. I told mum and she told me I need to eat less cake - my sister was there and just glared at her and said: SHE'S PREGNANT! :)

Finally, Poppy just to let you know I've been thinking about you lots and keeping everything crossed. It sounds like you are doing an incredible job of staying strong. I hope things improve ASAP.

ishopthereforeiam · 28/05/2012 11:21

1.5 - 2 stone sounds normal to me? I think I've put on about 10kg now which is the same sort of thing. There's a baby in there plus a placenta plus all that amniotic fluid!! (and some extra chocolate, ice cream and cake for me Blush)

OP posts:
warzonemummy · 28/05/2012 13:27

Poppy best wishes coming your way. Sorry you have to go through all this but am glad that you are in the right place.

I have not thought about the buggy or car seat yet. I will go for a very very lightweight option as I will have to travel a lot with the baby and would not want a bulky one. Any ideas, specially from experienced mums more than welcome.

I am going really really out of breath - I have put on around 8 or 9 kilos of which I have only put on about half a kilo in last six weeks. The baby is growing fine, I think I am losing weight. I am eating well, lots of fruits and so on. So the breathlessness can't be weight or lack of energy. I feel like I am being suffocating, specially when I am lying down. Anyone else experiencing this or know why am I feeling like this?

Oh and what I think is Braxton Hicks around 30 times every day since around three days ago. Any idea on how to manage it?

I am 30+2 today so not long to go. (specially as am planning to do what I can to (nicely and safely) get this lovely baby to come out as soon as possible)

Ohhh and need your advise on something: I am really anxious about being treated badly by the midwives and doctors at the hospital when I get back to the UK. I haven't seen a midwife or anyone since I got pregnant and my GP in London says it is perfectly okay and normal for me to get back to the UK at 34 weeks pregnant. I am worried that I will be seen as a problematic person for not actually staying in the UK. To make matters worse, I called the hospital where I plan to give birth to ask them if they would prefer to see me earlier or is 34 weeks gone okay (specially as I had some bleeding etc...). The lady on the phone was SOOOOO rude and abrupt. I wonder what should I do. I have looked at the possibility of going private and it is not possible in SW London. I am so anxious :(

0FrillyKnickers0 · 28/05/2012 13:38

Oh goodness. Is this weather making anyone else suffer?

I have a banging headache and a stinking cold and the heat is really getting to me, particularly at work (where I still have 2 months before ML starts...how am I going to cope?). How long have all of you got until ML starts? I am considering starting mine a bit earlier, but I don't know if I'll go stir crazy!!

geekette · 28/05/2012 16:26

Marmite Finally found it: My mum did this for all of us from infancy till almost 3: .
She did it with any piece of cloth, even towels.
and on further search I found a sling which does about the same: podeagi

warzone don't fuss. i have found some people at hospitals tend to have bad phone days. Make an appointment to go in, in person, and basically do your booking in. from then on they'll see you as human again.
then starts the binz of getting the consultant to listen before taking notes but that is something else...

Eek! 10 weeks till mat leave! I have tons to do at work... almost want to tell baby to hang on a minute...
Can you work from home Frilly? I've been doing that and getting used to the house and not going mental. I found out there's always loads to do.

Lovemarmite · 28/05/2012 16:50

Thanks geekette really useful stuff and the youtube video is great, thanks! Very cute with the LO on the back - I guess they have to be very still in order to actually get them to stay there whilst you're tying them in.

warzone, my experience with NHS has been very good so far and so hope the receptionist was an exception to the rule when you get back!

Just had my blood tests back from 28 wk bloods, everything good but very really low ferritin (7) the lady looked at me knowingly as she said 'iron supplements now'... I might try spatone x2 until see GP. Has anyone raised their ferritin levels with spatone?
Might also see if I can get a coeliac test done seeing I have had problems with wheat, etc plus I was researching clefts and it can be a result of non-absorption of folic acid and B vitamins and seeing I took supps before and during pregnancy, I am suspicious of my gut now. OK worse to google and be a student of nutrition as my degree has made me look into it. Hmmm.

frilly I work at home and so ML starts as soon as LO is here! Will probably try to get the work done if labour allows as I hear many women do ironing etc, I can imagine banging out some invoices to make sure they're done before I can't... or doing the ironing, as I can't get that as badly wrong if pain?!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 28/05/2012 16:58

That's a good idea, working from home, but I don't know if it would work...However, spoken to DH and we are thinking I'll start at 36 weeks instead of 38. Before that I'll have 2 weeks of half days. I think I can cope with that!

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 28/05/2012 17:59

Baby boy born via emergency c section about an hour ago . I am in recovery, baby is in neonatal unit on cpap & fluids.

Will update when I can xxxxx

woopsidaisy · 28/05/2012 18:05

Shriek!

I know that this wasn't what you were hoping for Poppy, but congratulations!

Thanks

Hope you are all doing well, will be thinking of you.
