also meant to say, fairtrade that I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow and I'm yet to be measured. I don't know if it will happen at my 28 week appointment though as it hasn't been mentioned. I also haven't been weighed since my booking appointment, it seems to be different in every region!

Vinolover · 18/05/2012 12:50

Wow, it's been bust on here :)
Im so sorry about your cat Marmite :( I hope you're ok.
I'm glad everything was ok for you Faint. It's so scary when that happens. I too went into hospital on moday morning with griping pains and reduced movement. He of course (and thankfully) perked up whilst I was in the waiting room and my pains are from constipation and dehydration. Phew. It was pretty horrifying having to talk about my bowel movements to a young and really quite handsome dr! Oh the glamour of it lol.

Im really struggling to breath at the moment :( Anyone else? It's happened really over the last couple of days but today it's really bad. Not nice.

I've not heard of waiting until 36 weeks to be measured or weighed fairtrade. I got measured at the hospital on monday and at my 24 week MW appt and I have never been weighed in any of my pregnancies, only at the booking in appt. How strange.

alisonmcg · 18/05/2012 13:03

Hi vino just wrote a long reply to you and then mumsnet decided I was no longer logged in and lost my message!! anyway, I had a really tight chest last week and felt breathless. Went to the doctor and she said that it was probably because acid is coming up so often that it has inflamed my chest and made it sore! Got prescribed peptac liquid to take 4 times a day and while I'm still getting a tight chest sometimes it is getting better. If you've experiencing something similar the doctor might be able to help? She also gave me an inhalor just in case but I haven't had to use that yet.

ishopthereforeiam · 18/05/2012 15:38

Happy Friday all! Cheers to the weekend Wine

vino so envious you're only getting out of breath now! I've been lime this for weeks, struggle to walk and even talking can make me all out of puff!

Intersting Alison my heartburn's been bad so bought some chewy tablets today hopefully that will help with the reflux and maybe breathlessness too?

Sleeping propped up is helping with tbe reflux a bit too.

OP posts:
therumoursaretrue · 18/05/2012 15:43

Alison iv been given peptac for the same thing, just picked up my prescription today so hopefully it helps!

Any weird or wonderful cravings anyone? I've just made a lemon meringue pie as I've been dreaming about it the past 2 days! Waiting for it to cook now.

susiegrapevine · 18/05/2012 16:33

pan glad your glucose has disappeared hope mine does at my 28 week apt

fairtrade they don't weigh us here they just ask you at booking in how much you weigh which i always find odd cos its like how do you know how acurate your home scales are! But was measures at my 25wk apt my midwife is giving me all the extra appointments you have with your 1st baby as she says its better if its only your 2nd! Which i think is brilliant. Yeah so its does seem very odd they are not measuing you. It says in my notes they measure you at every appoinment from 25 weeks in there they have an overview of what to expect at each appointment.

poppy glad things are going better for you now fingers crossed not much longer stuck in there! Though at least its the weekend so am assuming you will get lots more visitors to keep you company.

vino i only struggle for breath when pushing my toddler up hill on the way home! Its very annoying and i keep getting a stitch which is very painful have to keep stopping i only live a 10 min walk from the town but our hill is sign posted as having an 11% gradient so i guess thats why!

Vinolover · 18/05/2012 16:44

That's really intresting alison because my heartburn has been pretty rotten over this past week and it's making me feel really sick :( May have to visit the dr next week if it stays like this because it's just awful.

I do not envy that walk susie! I need a sit down just thinking about it.

We're off out for dinner tonight which should be quite nice :) Hope everyone has a lovely weekend :)

alisonmcg · 18/05/2012 19:32

vino it really sounds like you have the same as me then as I had really bad heartburn 3 days in a row and then started to get the tight chest, hope you start to feel better soon!

alisonmcg · 18/05/2012 19:33

rumours hope the peptac helps you too!

NeedlesCuties · 18/05/2012 19:49

Just popping in to say HYPEREMESIS I HATE YOU!!!!!!!

26 weeks today so you can just bugger right off and leave me alone.

Angry

(thanks for letting me vent, I have nothing else to add)

Vinolover · 18/05/2012 20:47

Oh needles that's really horrible for you :(. I really hope it doesn't last much longer. I can only imagine how much it's ruining your pregnancy!

Thanks Alison. I'm just really happy I managed to eat my dinner tonight as I didn't think it would be happening. The rennie wil be in easy reach at all times!

eightieshopaholic · 18/05/2012 21:00

Fairtrade I was measured for the first time at my MW apt this week which was 28 wks. She said I will be measured next at 31 wks by doctor then on each apt with her.

I have my extra scans because of my colitis and chrons so will be seeing little one next Wednesday along with another mw apt, consultant and bloods will get to find out if growing normally as there's a chance baby might not get all needs with my condition so fingers crossed for next week!! It doesn't help when people keep saying your bumps not very big to me I seem huge!!

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 18/05/2012 22:31

Needles :( that's rubbish... I really hope it settles down soon.

panpipe love the - don't fall over - advice!! :o

Vino I do get out of breath quite easily now, and sometimes (especially if I've eaten and also need a wee) it's like there's not enough room to breath in properly and catch my breath.

Any tips on how to get out of the bath properly..? (bearing in mind I'm completely paranoid about making myself bleed again, stupid I know :() I've been having showers, but decided to have a bath tonight and then couldn't work out how to get out of it safely. Blush

Had my GTT test today, so I've now got matching bruises on each arm :D

ffscatmove · 18/05/2012 23:01

Fairtrade I was measured by the GP at my 25 week appt and have been weighed at every appt, even the hospital one! Have my 28 week MW appt on Monday so will let you know...
Poppy can you make sure there's a chair near the bath? Then if you turn onto your knees in the bath, rest a mo then get out and sit on the chair you should be ok. As long as you don't have the bath too hot & pause at each step of getting out so you don't get dizzy I'm sure you'll be safe.

Eurrgh I hate heartburn and LO is doing something uncomfortable to my ribs. Also have ANOTHER cold - v annoying and feeling sorry for myself. Boo. Sorry, whine over, others on here have much more to deal with! Blush

PoppyS34wantstogohome · 19/05/2012 06:42

Morning everyone. I'm strapped to the monitor for morning session of bump monitoring :)

29weeks exactly today! Just need to chalk up a few more...

It's really grey, miserable & cloudy outside, and it's cold in here as the windows were left open last night.

I just sneezed and woke baby up, and now he's got hiccups, which are really loud coming through the monitor.

Looking forward to my visitors today, was solo all day yesterday, but had lots of calls.

8 down hopefully just4 to go

whoops have a great time at eurodisney :o

hamncheese · 19/05/2012 10:59

fairtrade I've not been measured yet either but didn't ask about it and I've not been weighed either alison since the first appointment and that seemed only to be for checking my bmi wasn't too high. There seems to be so much difference for all of us which is sometimes a bit worrying. Just going to trust that baby is taking all it needs from me just now...

Glad to hear both of your LOs are fine faint and vino :)

Definately feeling the out of breath thing too, especially when walking, have noticed I also walk SO slow now, I hate slow walking!!

With you on the sleeping propped up for reflux ishop. Also have found need at least 2-3 hours after eating before sleep, anything less I will feel so awful all night. DH was home late on Thursday and called to ask if I wanted a burger and I stupidly was like yes, yes I want to eat a burger like 20 mins before bed so I feel like vomiting all night long. Silly ham.

:( needles

poppy I have a bath extraction method which involes going from lying to cross legged, cross legged to kneeling, kneeling to up on knees and then one foot up slowly then the other. It is getting harder though :) Maybe you could also get your DP to help you in and out if you are having one when he is about. Oh and get him to heat a towel on the radiator and bring you it while he's at it he he he

Bah humbug to the cold ffscat it's the last thing you need with the general stuffiness of being pregnant AND hayfeverishness if you get it

Had my 28 week appointment which for all who are interested included urine, blood pressure, blood test for iron but NOT GD, heart beat. MW also felt for the baby and my wee love is head down and lying "long". She said it was pretty low down and it's head is like a tennis ball in size at the mo Grin wee tennis ball head

MrsMigginslovespies · 19/05/2012 11:35

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday!

Hmm, re weighing, I was weighed at first appointment, then at 14 week one. Not since, thank goodness as hideeous. Have also been measured twice, once at 20 weeks and then again at 24, but am going to ask next week just to shut everyone up who recently keep telling me "there's nothing of you" or "you're so neat" etc etc. Beginning to wind me up!

Posh dinner last night with a whole bunch of headmasters was fine in the end. I was able to --bore- tell them about my past exciting job experiences before I moved up to Scotland which was ok but whole evening was a tad intimidating at times as I'm not a teacher, so limited things to add. Got home late so tired today but otherwise fine.

Just made chocolate muffins and waiting for them to cool as was wierdly gagging for some when I woke up. House smells amazing!

Hope you all have a good weekend and Poppy you continue to do well. x

Westcountrylovescheese · 19/05/2012 15:18

Having bad bad day... DCat very ill. I've started a topic in 'litter tray' if anyone up for hand holding. Sad

susiegrapevine · 19/05/2012 16:36

poppy i agree with everyone about the getting on to your knees first its a good plan when i was pregnant with ds after a certain point can't remember when i would always get dh to help me out cos i have rubbish balance anyway and did not wanna go spashing back down! Plus i wouldn't risk the bath without anyone home incase you slip! Plus use a bath mat make sure its rubber not the plastic ones as they get slippy - tesco value is good!

eighties i have a friend at work with chrons and colitis who recently had her second child - they are horrible things to have but you do get extra scans so get to see your bubba more often. Hope bubba is growing fine and pregnancy is not affecting you too much.

Miggins i feel your pain re being told you are tiny for how far along you are with my 1st pregnancy people would tell me that all the time!! It does get annoying after a while! Not so much with this baby and in fact i was measuring 27cm at my mw appointment and i was 26 weeks had it a bit late as mw on hols but she was ill anyway! But point is i am actually 1cm more than average but still seem small so i guess its just the way you carry baby.

My ickle bump keeps sitting up really high and really affecting me when i sit i can't sit for long in a normal chair cos it feel like my stomach is being crushed. Have to laze back in the sofa lol!

Annoying point my hot water stopped working this morn so no shower for me and extremly greasy hair arrrg - still spent the afternoon in the garden so no one saw me - well except maybe the upstairs neighbours! Now it is randomly working again so will attempt a bath tonight that way if there is soap in my hair and the hot stops working can just dunk my hair in the bath! Stupid boiler already spent £194 quid on it this winter when it broke down!

fairtradelu · 19/05/2012 18:30

Thanks for all the measurement info guys. Can I just ask a dumb question: if 26 cm is average at 26 weeks, what is 26 cm a measurement of? I just measured circumference of bump and it was more like 1 metre :S I'm presuming that's not the measurement they take!

tashaw28 · 19/05/2012 18:49

Evening all, currently on a babymoon with DH near Windsor, beautiful spa hotel and no children!!
Fair they measure from the top of the womb to the bottom, not all the way round, luckily for all of us!!
26+6

WelshLadyCDF · 19/05/2012 19:06

Hi fairtrade my MW measured from the pubic bone below the bump up and over the belly button to almost the top of the bump, so sort of south to north!
I have been reassured after a large measurement that it's not an exact science so I wouldn't stress too much about it (I am trying not to), I have a growth scan on monday that is the most accurate.
28+3

ffscatmove · 19/05/2012 19:18

Envy tashaw at your babymoon, I could do with some spa relaxation... and Envy at the chocolate muffins MrsM!
fairtrade definitely just measure pubic bone to top of uterus & MW told me you can't feel it reliably on yourself (even if you're a MW!). She also said it's roughly a cm per week i.e. 26cm at 26 weeks, 27cm at 27 weeks etc. Can't imagine measurements are that precise though!

Am paying for overexertion today - spent a happy 3 hours planting things out & weeding at the allotment, only to have bump go ominously quiet for 2 hours... took a good half hour of rest & a Biscuit before it woke up again. Have also seized up from lying down as well so now walking like an elderly penguin... that's what I like about pregnancy, the glamour! Hmm

Talking of glamour, anyone going to see the film of 'What to Expect?'

Loislane78 · 19/05/2012 20:24

bump

ishopthereforeiam · 19/05/2012 20:29

Hello ladies,

poppy did you manage tbe bath ok?

needles hope you're feeling a bit better?

Had 3d 4d scan today, ds to be was being cheeky and had his foot in front of his face as well as his hand on the other side. Got 11 prints and a DVD, not bad for a groupon deal but prefer baby premier who we used for dd.
