I will willingly take a hug Needles , and bless your little one and his toddler logic :o can't wait for those moments...

Hope you've been seen by now faint :(

panpipe · 17/05/2012 15:20

ishop wow going in on opening ceremony day?! Good luck with that! I got a place to perform at the ceremony but had to turn it down as it probably wouldn't have been the best idea to do it 10 days before my due date and risking going into labour in front of 2 billion people!

geekette · 17/05/2012 15:36

Group hug! and special hugs for faint and poppy.

ishopthereforeiam · 17/05/2012 16:07

faint really hope all is ok and the baby's just having a nap / moved into a different position. Big hugs.

panpipe perform? Wow! More details please. What an amazing opportunity although labour before 2 billion... Unless you're Kim kardashian that would be a no thank you!

needles dd had a meltdown yesterday as I won't give her the car key while I drive... (as I need it to drive! And I did give it to her once as. I parked up when I went to take her out of her car seat she locked the door with my house keys and phone in the car!! Had to wait for a neighbourhood to cone, borrow their phone and call dh back from work all the time dd crying helplessly in the car) and she's not even two yet! Remind me why I'm doing this all over again?!

OP posts:
NeedlesCuties · 17/05/2012 16:22

ishop I giggled at what your DD did, sorry! I think she and my DS have been reading the same how-to-baffle-mummy book Grin

Something else made me smile about 10 minutes ago. Got a knock at the door, was a door to door salesman. He asked if my parents were in (?) and when I looked at him like Hmm he said, "Oh, so you're the householder?" Doh! I'm almost 28, I have a toddler and am hugely pregnant with DC2, what flipping age did he think I was?

I need a Brew

faintpinkline · 17/05/2012 16:54

Very little time but just to say thanks and baby alright. It started kicking as soon as monitor switched on but for some reason couldn't feel it and still Cant

PoppyS34wantssleep · 17/05/2012 16:59

Glad to hear it faint. :) This little ones sometimes curl themselves up and turn away from poking the bits you can feel. I had the same yesterday, could her him trashing away at the monitor, but couldn't feel a thing.

:o at Needles (sorry!)

ishop they're closing the road outside the hospital here for an Olympics road race, so it's gonna cause problems here too. And if our house purchase falls through, then we're also stuck in Olympics hell in a tiny flat completely unsuitable for a baby Confused

panpipe · 17/05/2012 18:23

That's great news faint. These pesky babies have a way of winding us up! Hope you don't get any more panics.

ishop I play percussion and drumming was one of the skills they were looking for for volunteer performers. Did two rounds of auditions (with 200 people at each!) but between the second audition and finding out I'd got a place I'd got my BFP. I'd have been one of thousands - I think there are going to be 9,000 performers in total at the opening ceremony but should anything have happened it would probably have caused no end of problems! I'll just have to make do with watching it on TV with a cup of tea and cake.

susiegrapevine · 17/05/2012 19:15

sending best wishes faint hope everything was ok with your little one xxx

ishopthereforeiam · 17/05/2012 20:18

So pleased faint !

poppy I should check if uch will have road closures etc too, good point! Btw not sure if you've heard of the legal stamp avoidance schemes seems to involve reselling the property or something, haven't looked into it a lot as have been trying to find people who've used it to see if it works? There's lots on google about it.

panpipe I am Grin at I age of 9 month bump with drum balancing on top!

needles I can laugh now but at tbe time I was Sad do I smash the window and get her out / wait for someone to walk by to borrow a phone (as was locked in underground car park)! Oh well, what doesn't kill you and all that!

eightieshopaholic · 17/05/2012 20:51

Had my 27/28 week check flipping student in there again, took wrong bloods so tried other arm then back to first couldn't get anymore so booked back in next week to try again as arms in too much of a mess :-(

Little one seems to be jumping about this evening which is great after an quite day yday. It's weird sometimes can see tummy moving but can't feel it strange eh!!

Looking forward to baby show Sunday at nec.

Needles I have turned 32 this week :-(

Purplelooby · 17/05/2012 21:06

faint that's good news, especially getting a good hard kick again! Same happened to me a few weeks back and they took ages to find him in the hospital. It felt like ages anyway and the midwife even said, 'come on, baby' in a kind of worried voice, but she did find him in the end and about an hour later he was kicking again.

eighties me too on Sunday!! Oh I mean :(

By the way, what blood tests to they do at 28 weeks? Is it just one?

eightieshopaholic · 17/05/2012 21:15

They said checking for diabetes, full blood count and for iron levels but if not done by a numpty its just one needle!!

susiegrapevine · 17/05/2012 22:16

phew glad to hear everything seems ok faint.

poppy how are you doing?

eighties sorry to hear you have been treated like a pin cushion!!! you would have thought the student would let the actual midwife take over after the first failed attempt instead of making you look like a drug addict!

therumoursaretrue · 17/05/2012 23:40

Hey ladies, well I haven't been about for a few days again, I'm sure I have loads to catch up on just having a super quick scan through now!

Faint so glad to see baby is giving you a good kick now! I was in for monitoring at the beginning of last week after feeling no movement for almost 2 days. Was so scary and I couldn't bear to tell DP either as he was 300 miles away and didn't want to panic him when he wouldn't be able to get to me anyway! I'm sure you are feeling so much more content now you've had some movement. Hope you and your family are keeping ok too, sorry to hear about FIL.

Poppy hope everything is ok with you. I'm sure you must be fed up in hospital but at least your in good hands. Hoping you'll be home soon.

Marmite so sorry about your cat Sad They really are like one of the family.

And lovely thoughts to the rest of you too, I'm sure iv missed loads but will have a proper read now!

Everything good here, or as good as it can be anyway!

PoppyS34wantssleep · 18/05/2012 09:01

Morning ladies... Day 7 from my hospital bed, 7 down 5 to go (hopefully!!!).

Glad to hear baby is booting you faint (in the nicest way :o)

eighties :( I feel your pain. I understand that students need to learn, but I've had several try and put cannulas in, and when they muck it up they have to get the senior midwife or doctor to put them in - which is all very well, except THEY BLOODY HURT and it's my HAND!! Angry.

MW had to take more blood last night as I've been in for a week, fine ok, hate it but she did it really well, then this morning (as I missed my 28wk MW appt this week) a different MW comes to tell me I'm doing my GTT today at midday. Grrrr... why the frig couldn't they just take all the blood in one go, instead of last night and then again today?!?

They are running out of veins to puncture. I can count 6 needle marks on my hands/arms at the moment in various stages of healing... :(

Baby is monitoring ok am and, bar MWs and nose bleeds, I'm actually doing an ok job of keeping my blood where it's meant to be :o

Have a fab Friday everyone.

MrsMigginslovespies · 18/05/2012 09:16

It's Friday! Hurrah. Can't believe you've been there a week now Poppy Sad. But really hope you're ok today and counting down the days. Canulas are really sore; I hated them so much. And what a shame the student messed yours up, Eighties. Nothing worse that someone rummaging about. Ick. I've got my 28 week apoointment on Monday with consultant, more bloods, another scan and a check up. Phew. Really hope they can tell me a bit more about my birth plan and whether I'm doing it naturally or via C-section, but all depends on my surgeon in London. Bit anxious about it all, but just want what is best for baby.

Speaking of Ick (and this really is) has anyone been watching Two Greedy Italians on BBC2 recently? Did you see last night's where they had horse testicles for virility?! Was tooooo revolting. Even Carluccio looked grossed-out. It was evil. Anyhoooo, thought I'd share Grin. Boak.

I put the first coat of paint onto the bokoshelves last night and am about to start coat two. As it's a very dark brown, suspect it's going to need a lot of coats!

Raining here AGAIN today. Going to potter indoors, and paint stuff before a work dinner thing DH has been invited to tonight that we thought was a big do for 100 in education and turns out it's super-exclusive and there's just 8 of us. YIKES!! x

The3Bears · 18/05/2012 09:49

The3Bears · 18/05/2012 09:57

Oh yes and I got this yesterday www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3486968/Trail/searchtext%3EFISHER+PRICE+PROJECTOR.htm just thought i'd let you know as I know some people were interested in getting one and this one is fab and a bargain at £12 ds loved his.

27+6 today third trimester tomorrow Shock where has the time gone

fairtradelu · 18/05/2012 09:58

Sorry to hear about the scares but glad everything seems to be okay with everyone. Also sorry about the cat news :(

I have hit a complete wall of tiredness. Am 25+4 and despite having only just got up 2 hours ago I feel like I could get back into bed and sleep the whole morning. Is this the end of the bouncy second trimester?! Please say it isn't.

We've got a full weekend of decorating ahead - we're trying to get everything done now so we don't have to do anything until the LO is at least 2! Luckily we moved back in September so aren't in the unenviable position of some of you having to move now. I really hope the estate agents and solicitors and mortgage people show a little consideration and make it as easy as possible for you guys to move.

Other news: I asked the midwife if she was going to measure me at the appointment last week - I really want to know if I am on track for due date (harbouring slightly mental plans to go to the Lakes for a few days 10 days before due date) - and she said they don't measure or weigh you until 36 weeks! Has anyone else had this?

Finally, I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and they let you out soon Poppy.

glittershoes · 18/05/2012 11:03

So so pleased everything is ok faint. That must have been awful for you.

How are you feeling poppy?

And marmite I am so sorry about your cat.

I am absolutely knackered today and cannot wait to get home (although I am going out with friends tonight!). Anyone else starting to feel a lot more worn out. I am also struggling to put socks, shoes and tights on so roll on warm weather when I can live in flip flops! x

alisonmcg · 18/05/2012 12:05

faint glad everything turned out for the best! My wee one is having a quiet day today too, it likes to keep me worried/on my toes!

marmite so sorry to hear about your cat, it must be awful. We had our dog for 17 years and it was heartbreaking when we had to say goodbye to her. Hope you are starting to feel a bit better Thanks

It's raining here today too, very miserable! Have brought my lunch in to work with me so won't be stepping foot over the door until it's home time, will just have to put up with cabin fever for one day!

Hope everyone has something nice planned for the weekend (poppy hope you will get lots of visitors to keep you entertained). It's the Scottish cup final tomorrow and my family are big Hearts supporters so I will be having a football filled weekend! Plus it's the champions league final tomorrow night which I don't have much interest in but DP does so I'll even be spending my saturday night watching football!!

panpipe · 18/05/2012 12:42

fairtrade my MW measured my bump at 24 and 28 week appts. Seems a bit late to me not to do it until 36 weeks but maybe it's different in different parts of the country?

All ok at yesterday's appointment; glucose in urine has disappeared and luckily blood test was straightforward although I have got a lovely bruise today! I won't hear about any results until the next appointment unless something is wrong. My blood pressure is still really low so am still being given the advice of 'don't fall over'!

Looking forward to having DH home tonight as he's working away in the week at the moment. Then have friends coming round tomorrow evening and we'll probably go for a curry.
