Sounds scary poppy, really good that you have knowledgeable people around you to make sure all is well. How is bump doing this afternoon? Still blissfully unaware I hope :)

Panpipe that's ridiculous...she's probably jealous of your lovely bump and impending lovely baby!

Anyone else been feeling a bit down recently. I don't know if this is third trimestery stuff starting but I've found I'm so bored and blue and awfully up and down as well as nausea again and trouble sleeping :( I think I'm getting really frustrated a lot because there is so much I want to do or would normally do but can't because I'm getting too podgey. All my body seems to want is to sit down but then I get so achey and mentally all this lounging is giving me serious cabin fever. Weather isn't helping, I know a walk would be good for me but when its pissing down and blowing a gale the idea of managing heavy jackets and inside out umbrellas makes it all seem so pointless. Ugh. I keep going to do things and then the next second I'm like I CANT BE BOTHERED. Normally when I get like this I would go for a run or do some rigorous housework but I can't arghh!

PoppyS34wantssleep · 14/05/2012 17:48

yup ham bump is unaware of the drama and monitoring ok (thankfully).

Completely with you on the down bit (probably for obviously reasons!), but I am really missing running - that usually sorts my head right out :o so frustrated about not being able to do anything - it's pants!

Hopefully you can find something to lighten your spirits, soon. :)

panpipe you'll have to be a bit ruder to her next time, and then blame the hormones :o

My cannula was taken out today (highlight of the day) which means I can practice my crocheting tonight. :)

Lovemarmite · 14/05/2012 18:11

Ditto ditto ditto ham!
Have just started to have iron spatone sachets in the morning with some juice before anything else and I think it's given me more energy, it may be helping although I think the weather is soooo not helping and also for me, DH has just taken our cat to the vets and I'm not sure both will be coming back as he's very bad today.
Have cried tons and I think LO has turned into my body as I'm getting very odd feelings, not on the outside but tiny rumbles internally and I'm not sure if I should worry or not as I'm not really feeling much. Hmmm hard day today!
Hope everyone is doing better x

fairtradelu · 14/05/2012 18:14

How about going for a swim Ham? I went to the pool today and it felt so good. It is such a nice sensation feeling almost weightless (until you get out the pool and are brought back down to earth with a bump!) The other positive side effect is that you feel like you've had a good workout so can pig out afterwards (my main reason for doing exercise!) But in all seriousness, it really gave me a boost and my aching back a bit of respite. Highly recommended!

PoppyS34wantssleep · 15/05/2012 08:56

marmite how's your cat doing? :( hope he did make it back from vets? Sending you a hug, hard days are crap.

I wonder if they'll let me swim? Probably not, but would live to do some exercise at least. Definitely not going to chance it though.

The weather looks grim in London town today, really cloudy and raining. As soon as I am 24hrs bleed free I can go home, so it's a sit and wait game atm. Clock was reset at 730pm last night.

Fingers crossed (I have had my fingers crossed so much I am going to develop RSI!)

wishing you all a lovely day. Brew

ishopthereforeiam · 15/05/2012 09:40

ham - I'm with you. My insomnia's been horrendous and really struggle to get comfy at night, short of breath all the time (even if just shuffling around on the sofa!) The reflux is also pretty bad as baby seems to take up all the tummy space so my food takes ages to digest and feels like it's stuck in the back of the throat... oh and also I've been quite badly constipated and lots of pains! Somehow I managed to work right up until I had dd last time but this time I quit work a month ago and really seem to need to just slob about on the sofa!

panpie how rude!! MiL's really know what to say don't they. Although my mum was just as bad - post dd (like a day later) my mum said your tummy's still big isn't it (errrr yes that's my utereus which takes 6-8 weeks to contract, thanks)... MiL - you've lost most of the baby weight, just the tummy to go - and is that the outfit you wore on one of your wedding events, and it still fits!?

love hope you're ok?

poppy how are you doing?

trying to buy a house at the mo and it is soooo stressful! How long does it take the mortgage company to review!?

OP posts:
MrsMigginslovespies · 15/05/2012 09:43

Morning all,

Fingers crossed too for you Poppy. How's today going so far?

Marmite, how's the pusscat?? Really hope you're ok.

Woke up with same headache I went to bed with which I hate, but after cold flannel, tea and paracetamol, seems to be going. Just randomly made some potted shrimps which MIL had brought back with her. No idea what they'll be like. Clarifying butter is a right faff, however!

Am definitely going to crack on with the spare room today. DH and I have made a decision on the bed in there, so rather than selling it for no money, e're going to dismantle and keep for LO when he's big and buy a nice new mattress. Thrilling, huh?!

Off for lavender bath to sort out head. Hope everyone has an ok day. Totally know what you mean about being bit in the dumps though. I've felt much more meh recently. x

Vinolover · 15/05/2012 10:04

Im sure this feeling down has something to do with the fact we seem to have been pregnant forever! I can't seem to remember a time when I wasn't panicking about one pain or another or just being able to jump into bed and snuggle down in whatever position I liked which usually lead to a full nights sleep! Not to mention being able to have a nice large glass of wine when wanted or any food we so wished. We are though just about on the last stretch now which is exciting :) And we'll soon be able to meet our little lovlies.

I'm so sorry about your cat Marmite. It's so awful seeing your beloved pet suffering :(

I hope your bath sorts you out MrsM and enjoy preparing the bedroom. if you're not feeling great though you should rest up and maybe do it another time? I know what it's like when you desperately want something doing though.

Hope everyone has a good day today :)

PoppyS34wantssleep · 15/05/2012 10:05

ishop I feel your house buying pain. We've had to try and do the process with me lying in a hospital bed trying not to get stressed about it all (which is impossible!). The three way conversations between me in hospital bed, DP at work and estate agents yesterday were comical! Blush

Bump's been monitored and is happy a larry, he likes to kick the sensors and send the readings haywire (probably mentioned that already!)>

Being scanned later on today to check on growth, placenta, bleeding and 'liquor' (grim!) I'm assuming they mean the amniotic fluid? :o

OnlyWantsOneTwoAndThree · 15/05/2012 10:06

Hello all thought I might pop in and say hi Grin finally!!

I'm 26+ due on August 17th Smile

This is DC3 I already have two daughters one is 5, the other 16 months Grin

hamncheese · 15/05/2012 10:09

Yay happy crocheting poppy and here's hoping you will be home tonight Grin

Oh Marmite that's so sad, I hope whatever happens your cat is comfortable and the thought that you have been giving him a happy safe home helps a little.

Have been swimming with DH fairtrade and it is a good boost. You are right I should probably just go to do that as soon as I feel frustrated. Only problem is the pool is a good mile's walk in the horrible weather away, I wish I could still cycle as DH takes the car to work each day. The thought of me on a bike now is laughable.

Ugh feeling the reflux pain with you ishop bad enough not being able to sleep generally but then when you do you wake up randomly at night feeling all sick arg! This pregnancy lark certainly doens't seem to be the natural and happy scenario it's made out to be. Hope you get the mortgage okay soon and can move so I can envy you intensley :)

Glad it's not just me feeling so lacklustre, though not glad you all feel it too. Must just be one of those things. Got to snap out of it so going to go and be energetic and deal with our "garden" (back court) and hope the fresh gale-force air sorts out the lethargy!

Hope everyone has a better day than yesterday which seemed to be a bit crappy all around Thanks

The3Bears · 15/05/2012 10:10

Morning,

Been very busy here, so just a quick catch up.

poppy Hope your okay and get to go home soon, keeping fingers crossed for you
Marmite Hope your cat is okay, lots of hugs. And about LO turning, I had a horrible weekend was v worried as hardly felt any movment and every little one I felt was odd didnt feel as strong as before, so Sunday dp made me lie down for 2 hours had a ice cold glass of water and baby did this massive turn felt something v large (head, bum not sure) near the top of bump and since then all movemnts have been the same so try not to worry, there is still alot of space in there for them to turn atm :)
panpipe cant believe your MIL! Shock I hate how everyone has to comment on bump atm, "ohh your big" "ohh your small" so annoying just leave me alone Hmm
ham I know what you mean, luckily I have ds who I walk to school everyday so it gets me up and out otherwise i'd be hibernating in bed til Aug :) Had a very energetic day yesterday so made the most of it and sorted out all our wardrobe, feel so much better now another job is out of the way
glitter Love the owls, v cute we have them on the baby gym.

Still cant decide about tripp trapp and newborn seat, dont want to waste money on something we might not use alot and dont know anyone with one to ask Confused thought this baby buying business got easier after 1st one :)

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

The3Bears · 15/05/2012 10:13

Welcome only :)

Glad bumps all well poppy hope scan goes well this afternoon

fairtradelu · 15/05/2012 12:49

Hi 3Bears, just wanted to say we went for the whole lot with the Tripp Trapp - newborn set and all. We've decided that even though baby won't be in the highchair for long (and certainly won't be eating at the table!), we will probably use it quite a lot to keep baby in during the day. We're going to use the pram as the overnight bed and then I am planning on alternating between mat/rug, baby carrier, human contact and Tripp Trapp newborn thing when the baby is awake.

As a first-time mum I have no idea how realistic/practical this will be though!!!

I hope all those going through low moods find a pick-me-up soon. Hormones do crazy things don't they? I woke up in the middle of the night convinced I had had a miscarriage. Absolutely no idea why and complete nonsense as baby has been kicking like a trooper today. Think I was harbouring (ridiculous) subconscious worries about swimming for first time in months and then eating way too much Indian food and expanding stomach crushing baby! Sounds sooo stupid typing that!!!

Anyway, the pregnant mind is clearly a slightly crazy one.

Have a lovely sunny afternoon everyone!

geekette · 15/05/2012 13:09

ham I still use my bicycle Blush. I didn't think it was laughable :(. I just make more space for bulge on the up turns and ride slowly...
I am not particularly an energetic person. I only ride to the local shops and back, once a day.
I also hate being out in the rain. I avoid it when I can, pregnant or not.

hamncheese · 15/05/2012 15:02

Ahh the idea of another pregnant person on a bicycle isn't laughable geekette just the idea of ME on one. Me being someone with minimal amounts of coordination who routinely falls off bicycles Blush. Plus I'd be going through the city centre with all the cars and I hated cycling in traffic at the best of times :( Didn't mean to imply anything about other cyclers Grin x

MrsMigginslovespies · 15/05/2012 16:31

Have dismantled the spare bed all by myself in a bid to speed up the room. Am v pleased. Now where to put things...feel I'm just moving one pile of crap somewhere else, rather than it actually being dealt with and chucked out or sold on. Grr.

I have a dream one day of a proper house with storage, big cupboards, DH's own pit study and perhaps a utility/boot room. Sigh.

geekette · 15/05/2012 19:18

Ah I see ham. Don't mind me. Must be an over-sensitive day!

susiegrapevine · 15/05/2012 21:35

hey everyone long time no post the main reason for this is i usually post from my phone which is playing up at the mo!! Very annoying seen as i haven't had it six months so going back to the shop this week to moan at them and maybe get a replacement or it fixed, would prefere replacement tho.

poppy sorry to here about all your troubles i hope you are feeling better now!

marmite hope your cat is ok

vino are you feeling any better?

sorry if i have missed anyone

re bf i bf ds till 13 months ish and used the phillips avent hand pump but always had lots of milk and no trouble expressing. like the avent cos of the via cup system which you put cups on the breast pump and express they have screw caps which you screw on and pop straight in the freezer/fridge, best thing is the cups with an adaptor fit onto the normal phillips teats and rings so no transfering the milk! Plus was really good for expressing the milk at work as the screw top defo prevented leaks.

End of last week dh had been ill with a strange virus with shivering and temperature and sore throat which thankfully seems to have cleared up now but he still has this rash which appeared on sat - symtoms of the virus started last wed! Was just praying i did not get it and so far so good, hopefully i'm not gonna get it now

am with you on the reflux ladies horrid it is but have taken some gaviscon (well boots own version) tonight for the 1st time and this seems to have helped even though it tastes vile!!

On sunday dh stayed home whilst me and my whole family (mum, dad, 2 sisters, sister husband) took ds to a farm place with a playground and stuff which was free!!! Only condition was no picnics or drinks of your own you have to buy it from them which is fair enough! Had a lovely day out defo going again hopefully with dh next time!.

Had been feeling low at the end of last week as no sunshine and feeling very pened in with a small toddler to entertain but better cos we got out at the weekend. Also went to a friends wedding reception on sat night. Ds had a great time was annoying not being able to drink though or dance without looking very whale like!

Seeing mw tomorrow am not having gtt test either as far as i know think its only if you are in an at risk group. ie close family member has diabeties or has had gestational diabeties sorry about spelling.

anyway after ultra long post will try not to leave it so long next time!

PictureThis · 15/05/2012 23:53

Aghhh, heartburn! I've got it now and have just taken a big slug of gaviscon advance in an effort to quell it. Had a crap nights sleep last night too, tonight isn't looking too promising either.
Panpipe it sounds like my MIL has been to the same school of charm as yours. Every bloody time she sees me she says 'are you sure it's not twins?'. Well last week she said 'I'm sure you're going to go pop soon if you get any bigger'. As I'm only 25 weeks the chances of me not getting any bigger are decidedly slim so through gritted teeth I politely informed her there was plenty of growing room left.
Poppy, hope you're ok. Hospitals aren't the most exciting of places but at least you're getting plenty of rest and reassurance when needed.

MrsMigginslovespies · 16/05/2012 08:58

Blimey, MILs, eh?! Who'd have 'em?!

Well, officially into 3rd trimester today which is scary and exciting all at the same time. Am seriously nesting and DH is getting fed up with me doing stuff, as thinks I need to "take it easy" and rest up. But I can't sit on the sofa for 12 hours a day. Plus, once baby is here, there'll be no time to do all the odd little things that I want to sort (like washing spare duvet etc).

Woke up with calf cramping away today, so am going to go swimming later and have a chilled day. Fancied the cinema later but there's nowt on.

How are you today Poppy? And Vino? And everyone else?

x

McBaby · 16/05/2012 09:07

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine this morning after the hail, thunder and snow accross the country yesterday.

Haven't posted for a while as things have been a bit difficult and getting me down over the past few weeks.

I was admitted to hospital at 26+1 with suspected pre term labour due to cramp and contractions every 15 minutes which were very painful. Had a couple of steroid injections to help the baby. Since then no reoccurrence and am 28+1 today so feeling a bit calmer. But I get a lot of braxton hicks which freaks me out if I have to many! Seem to be worse when I'm tired or done to much.

Also was signed off work last week due to SPD as finding sitting in a chair all day unbearably painful and it was making me totally miserable. Is any one else suffering with SPD? My doctor is very matter of fact that it's painful and will get worse with no real help.

Mine started at about 10 weeks with sore hips and back and has got progressively worse. So now walking or standing or sitting for longer than about 15 minutes is horrible I am presuming its getting worse as the baby gets bigger and heavier and puts more pressure on my pelvis!

Poppy hope you are ok in hospital. They are not fun places but at least you feel like your in the right place :) and hope the little one continues to do well despite the bleeds.

hamncheese · 16/05/2012 09:40

Sorry to hear about the tough few weeks mcbaby and the horrible SPD. I haven't had it but sure there are a few others who have if memory serves... who will be able to discuss. Don't know if this is good or bad advice (as your BH are if you are doing a lot) but swimming? Or just floating? Maybe being in water will provide some relief from the weight/aches? Funny how swimming seems to be the cure for everything atm!

Wanting to hear from poppy... did you get your 24hour/home time approval? Hope everything is ok.

And also marmite hope you are doing ok.

Congrats on the third tri miggins I'll be with you in 3 days time, how crazy is it we've had these babies for six months already!! Pff the cinema I had that whole thing last weekend and all the films seemed to be either teen "comedy" or those horror ones (aka the jumpy music made me s**t myself films). Not amused. I wish cinemas had one screen that just had classics on all the time so you could go see something you already know is good on a big screen with the popcorn etc and not come out thinking well that was a waste of time/money/brain cells!

Anyone else's baby in a workout phase? Mine is jiggering about all the time which is nice Grin and has become kind of regular in the times he/she moves, never when I am moving or talking but often when I am still/silent and always in the bath or shortly after eating a big meal. I love when they kick and you then ask them to do it again and again and they do hehehe don't know if they are responding or if it is just coincidence but it's sweet.

PoppyS34wantssleep · 16/05/2012 09:56

Morning ladies, sorry for silence... still here :( scan went well, but bleeding still hasn't stopped, so they can't risk letting me home in case it's a warning for something bigger.. it really settled down yesterday, and I can't keep my fingers crossed anymore tighter, so just hoping and praying that it really is stopping.

How long for - who knows!?!? Confused Luckily baby's growth is on track, he's quite happy (as they keep telling me), so that's good news, and the placenta is looking ok (think they were worried about abruption), although still extremely low lying :( it's not moving anywhere fast at all... bah! :(

Thanks for all the wishes everyone, really helps.

McBaby sorry you've had a rough ride, it is really really scary to be prepped for labour, it's happened to me more than once now, and it's still not nice (even though I know they're only doing it to be on the safe side).

I've also developed sore hips, so sleeping is a bit of a pain (literally). Have to alternate between left and right hip, a few hours on each and the sleep propped up on my back to ease them a bit.

ham bump is also similar to yours, wriggles away when I'm lying still or trying to sleep, but goes quite when I'm up and about or in the car. I'm thinking these may be useful things to know when he gets out. :o

Right, sorry for blathering on and on and on (marmite, any news on puss-cat? :()

Wishing you all a lovely day. I can see blue skys and clouds from my bed today - that's the London weather brought to you today :o
