I had a very strange dream last night...was back at school, in the library, but we were all sleeping there...Hmm...and I was snoring really loudly and keeping everyone awake!
Then I realised that I really was snoring ! Blush

Same every pregnancy...where will it all end?!

Have had leg cramps too, not too bad yet, able to deal with them myself, but in previous pregnancies I have done the whole shrieking in the middle of the night, legs and arms flailing thing...poor DH! Grin

Have a good day all!

alisonmcg · 03/05/2012 10:03

Hi everyone!

Hope you're all having a good morning so far. I'm having an extremely unmotivated day at work so far (as you can probably tell seeing as I'm on here!) 12 weeks until maternity leave starts but looking at me today you'd think I've already started! Have been busy all week though so am using that to justify having a quietish day today :S

Still haven't plucked up the courage to get on the scales, might try and do it tonight!

glittershoes love your mantra, will have to try that one out for myself haha!

Think I might have to join everyone in investing in some sort of pillow, sleeping is starting to get quite uncomfortable. Doesn't help when you have a cat who likes to try and balance his whole body on one of my feet! Are there any other first time mums out there who also have a cat? Not too worried about how the cat will be with the baby as he is a very gentle loving cat but he is only one and a half so still young and boisterous so will keep an eye on him! The one thing I think we will definitely do though is start shutting him out of the bedroom during the night as obviously when we're asleep (or is that wishful thinking?!) won't be able to make sure he stays away from the cot. Thinking of getting a cot cat net to keep him out of it even when the baby's not there, has anyone else ever used one of these?

23+5 today, where is the time going?!

hamncheese · 03/05/2012 10:12

I've got four cats alison and first time too... we were hoping to have moved before baby to somewhere that the cats can get outside but may not happen. We keep the cats out of the bedroom at night as it is (having 4 maniacs blundering about in the middle of the night isn't conducive to sleep!!) so will be doing that too. I have been worried about cats with baby. Mine are very loving too like yours but I'm worried about them loving the baby and suffocation etc so plan on keeping the bedroom a totally cat free area and not letting baby be alone with cats... which may be difficult in a small flat! I'd like to know about the cat proof crib net thing also if anyone has tried though my first instinct upon seeing it is that if my cats wanted in a wee bit of net isn't stopping them, they have been known to open metal tins when the desire to get in was strong enough!!

hamncheese · 03/05/2012 10:13

Oh also was also thinking of making our second bedroom/study into a cat room where there is no baby stuff and the cats can retire for some peace/we can lock them in there sometimes if I know I will need time when baby and I can be cat free!!

Lovemarmite · 03/05/2012 10:17

Hope you feel better soon MrsLister!
Ooo yes, leg cramps - ouch! I keep waking up in the night with my right leg just about to spasm and then nothing, but I know it's on the way as they're just on the cusp of making me wail around the bedroom.

Oh yes, dreams too. Have had crazy ones but in between not sleeping and so I'm waking up really tired. Nights are that I'm either trying to sleep or waking from a dream and sometimes this can be in the same hour. Pants!

I did a few exchanges yesterday as I wanted to get a few more neutral things rather than the very blue I've been buying and I don't think I will be welcome back at the white company. They were very lovely but the lady made a mistake and then it involved both tills and there was such a big queue for about 20 minutes! and then when I got home and I started to wonder if I should have gone for the next age group up as they might only be in it for a short time anyway. Ohh to go back or not? Oh dear, I've now realised that I've been obsessing over things!
On this same note, I dropped into the CK shop and chatted to the assistant about nappy change bags and they said lots of people choose this one as it's not too girly and better price too.

susiegrapevine · 03/05/2012 11:39

alison and hamncheese I had my cat before ds was born as was too worried about baby suffocation etc! Did not use a cat net thing! Could see that possibly killing the cat. Best advice is to keep bedroom doors shut and make sure the cat knows she not allowed on the moses basket or cot etc. Just keep a close eye. She did get in his moses basket a couple of times not when he was in it and I just stripped the sheets and blankets out to wash em as my cat goes outside so not very hygenic. The most she ever did was when he was in his rocker (like a bouncer) got in with him and slept on his lap! He didn't stir but I gently coaxed her off. She did also get in his pram a few times as well so watch for that but I just washed the liner like the sheets. To be honest I really wouldn't worry too much your cats are more likely to be gentle if they are already. She has never slept on his face and tends to only go inm his beds when he is not in them. We've never let her in our room anyway but would defo start locking them out of your room now cos they will probably pine and scratch at the door until they get the message.

Hope this helps and makes sense!

panpipe · 03/05/2012 12:53

alison I completely agree about the work thing; I'm exactly like you at the moment. We're going to be advertising for my maternity cover this week so I've had an interesting few days, ahem, 'discussing' with my boss when they should start, handover etc. 9 weeks left for me (8 if you take out a week's holiday in the middle) and I'm already aiming for the end! Beginning to realise that it's approaching a little more quickly than I'd like it to so I really need to crack on with a major email tidy, computer organisation and handover notes!

hamncheese · 03/05/2012 12:59

Thanks susie good advice, will have to start the whole bedroom embargo for the kits soon :) ours never seem to want to sleep near our faces now... they prefer being around your legs or, more recently, belly!!

alisonmcg · 03/05/2012 13:26

Thanks susie hopefully my cat will be as well behaved as yours! and ham I know what you mean about them finding a way in if they really want to, our wee guy has learnt how to open drawers and cupboards so nothing's safe!

Just met my cousin for lunch (not helping with getting me motivated for the rest of the day but was nice!) and she gave me my first baby presents :) a wee soft comforter toy and a couple of bibs and a wee hat and booties, was very sweet! Has made me want to start buying stuff now, must make my list up first though!

Vinolover · 03/05/2012 16:50

Leg cramps are so horrendous and I really feel for those of you suffering :(. What I had on tuesday evening were really bad tummy cramps. I'm sure I read somewhere with consecutive pregnancies you feel BH really early but my goodness they were intense! I'm hoping I don't experience anything like that again until I'm further along!

10 weeks on Saturday here until my maternity leave starts Grin and it can't come soon enough! Time seems to be whizzing by but I just know that by 34ish weeks it will come to a stand still. Think I'll save most of my shopping until then because it will give me something to do.

I'm now looking forward to a chilled out evening and day off work tomorrow. My children have an inset day too so there's no rushing around! Complete bliss :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 03/05/2012 19:58

Hello all,

Interesting to read about the cats etc. We're concious about the dog too but am hoping that the past year living at school will have got her used to children and little ones. Speaking of the dog (again), turns out she's having a phantom pregnancy, poor thing, so unlike me, isn't having babies. I do feel bad for her Sad.

I've been slapping on BioOil in the morning for ages now (since about week 9!) and have some MamaMio Tummy Rub that I was given as a b'day present that I'll start using more at night soon. I've splashed out on Baby Burt's Bees stuff for baby but suspect that I won't always be able to afford to. But it is all gorgeous and smells divine.

Off for supper and to chill out finally! Hope you've all voted btw Wink.

hamncheese · 03/05/2012 20:00

I went on a bouncy castle today and didn't spontaneously give birth on it, contrary to the popular belief of my mother. Just wanted to share, may even put a picture of it on my profile, this is how obstinate I am feeling as I am getting "should you really be doing that?" shot at me ten times a day. I'll bounce if I want dammit!

Also it was the stone henge replica bouncy castle in glasgow I went on if anyone wants to know. BOUNCY BOUNCY

WelshLadyCDF · 03/05/2012 20:29

My ankles have gone into hiding, my legs look pale and puffy, it's a great look Confused

NeedlesCuties · 03/05/2012 20:59

ham I am Envy at the mere idea of going on a bouncy castle. A mere big sneeze and I pee myself a little, so I think a bouncy castle would be a step too far! Pesky pelvic floor disappeared along with the placenta when DS was born, I think.

I think I've caught up with those of you who have been hungry lots. Today I ate, and ate, and then ate some more. Am still hungry!

Feeling tired lots more too, running around after DS who last month gave up his afternoon nap. That really was my 2 hour daily oasis and now it's GONE!!!! Oh well >wistful sighs<

Not much else to report :)

[23+6]

PictureThis · 03/05/2012 21:01

Oh the leg cramps Sad. I'm still suffering with them, every night. My toes even went into spasm today, talk about extreme cramping! I've also been having BH but find if I sit down and have a rest then they soon pass.
I bought a dreamgenii and I've found it really comfortable so it's a thumbs up from me. 23+3 today, I've got just under 14 weeks till my mat leave and believe you me, I'm counting the weeks off Grin.

NeedlesCuties · 04/05/2012 08:20

Morning all. I haven't been having much leg cramp, but have been having odd foot cramp in my right foot. Was standing cooking 2 pots of soup yesterday and was almost throwing myself on the kitchen floor with pain!

I'm so happy with you all and your rapidly approaching Mat Leave, the time will fly past till it's here. How long you all getting as time off?

Still haven't had any BH, so I'm awaiting them. Remember having them with DS's pregnancy, but can't recall what stage it was at....

Hope you all have a good weekend ahead of you Thanks Brew

(24 weeks)

panpipe · 04/05/2012 09:35

Morning all and boo to the cramp! I've been getting it in my calves now and again but I've always been quite prone to them in my feet. I just try to grin and bear it and make circular motions with my feet.

Had another Daisy Birthing class last night where we did some Bollywood dancing which was fun!

I'm gearing myself up for an embarrassing phonecall soon; our new carpets went down yesterday but when I got home I couldn't find our cuddly toys from the bedroom (yes that's grown up DH and my toys) so I'm going to phone the fitters to ask where they put them Blush. In my hormonal state I even had a little cry last night at the thought of my teddy being lost or possibly thrown away - I've had him for 27 years! Glad that I don't actually have to see them in person as if it was me I couldn't keep a straight face. Now I've gone and admitted to you all that I still have a cuddly toy I'm going to hide away..... FRIDAY!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin

The3Bears · 04/05/2012 10:16

Hi everyone, Looking forward to the long weekend cinemas with ds and his friends tomorrow and hopefully if the weathers nice can catch up on the gardening and having the new stair carpet fitted :) just have to keep the cats away from it now Hmm as they're buggers with carpet.

What is everyone else up to this weekend anything fun?

Ive not had leg cramps as bad as I had them when pregnant with ds1 so thats good hoping it stays that way :) Going to purchase the dreamgenii pillow today as feeling a bit more uncomfortable now at night.
Been eyeing up the stokke tripp trapp and newborn set aswell but just wondering wether its worth it? All the accesories for the highchair are so expensive so not too sure yet :)

5 days til 4d scan and I cannot wait to see my babys face Grin so excited!

Ive been using bio oil and bodyshops body butters on my belly but I got stretchmarks in the last week of my pregnancy with ds1 Angry does anyone know if they're likely to get bigger or get more, as so far they look the same.

Vinolover · 04/05/2012 11:18

I got all my stretch marks with my first pregnancy 3bears but then I didn't try and prevent them at all! With my second pregnancy, again I didn't try and prevent them and they didn't get any worse and I didn't get any new ones. I'm being just as relaxed about it this time because I do strongly believe that if you're going to get them, you will!

Day off here today and nearly all the housework is done :) Such a nice feeling when the house is clean and tidy! There will be hell to pay tomorrow though if DH and DC wreck my hard work whilst I'm working!
Think I have earnt myself a yummy cake, so off to the shops I go :)

Hope everyone is having a nice friday and has lots of nice plans for the weekend :)

MrsMigginslovespies · 04/05/2012 11:22

Panpipe, I'll share too. I've still got my bears too. DH wants to give them to the baby, but I've refused. Is that crazy?!! I've had Bruno for 33 years. And he's mine. So there.

Also had no BH or real leg cramps either, but do sometimes get toes doing wierd separating things which looks freaky.

Not a lot to add except DH and I had argument last night about godparents and values. Sigh.

And a heads up that Pumpkin Patch are having a sale fyi. www.pumpkinpatch.co.uk/?utm_nooverride=1&gclid=CLuNtK6z5q8CFc4LtAod1S-L2w

TFIF say I. x

PoppyS34wantssleep · 04/05/2012 11:41

Admitted back into hospital with another big bleed this morning. Bah! Currently in triage bed, waiting to be seen by drs. :(

Have phone charger this time though :o

Fingers crossed, please, ladies and positive thoughts.

Please stay in Bump! Confused

panpipe · 04/05/2012 12:04

Oh no Poppy not again?! Fingers crossed for a shorter stay for you this time and that everything is OK with you and bump. Hopefully you'll get looked after and not get caught up in the "you can't be ill on a bank holiday".

Thanks for sharing miggins - cuddly toys anonymous! Embarrassing phonecall over with - they put them in the chest of drawers. I did look in there last night and couldn't see anything so am now hoping they haven't been rifling through my knicker drawer at the same time.

hamncheese · 04/05/2012 12:04

Positive thoughts incoming Poppy ... sending love to bump too Flowers hopefully it will be nothing to worry about and you will be home safe soon x

hamncheese · 04/05/2012 12:05

Thanks oops who knew flowers means thanks only!
